Utterly horrible
Utterly horrible experience. The staff all seemed utterly traumatized to be having to work in such a horrible place. Flys EVERYWHERE, food was pub food at best. Please avoid
Mixed Bag
Visited here 6 of us travelled a long way first impressions were disappointment over the decor and being squished at the bottom corner……. But here for a celebration so put that aside looking forward to the 8 course tasting menu with the matching wines and we were not disappointed we all really enjoyed every course ….although it was very busy the pacing was good for us until we were waiting for our last course and a young lady came and told us we would have to leave in 20 minutes!!!!!! our time was up.A mixture of 3 young ladies were serving us at times all very pleasant working hard and at times forgetting what was to do next, consequently waiting a while for courses or drinks, 1 very knowledgeable regarding the food and wine on offer. All in all very pleasant evening but once food served felt dismissed and disappointed with some aspects.
Disappointing!! Tired and old restaurant mediocre food. Overpriced.
I had high expectations for this restaurant but the quality of food and decor let it down. The restaurant was tired and dated and there were loads of fruit flies flying about. On the sample menu there are scallops and beef but on our menu we had mussles and shoulder pork which of course are much cheaper ingredients. Also don't rely on the photos shown as the food we had do not bear much resemblence to these. I ordered the tasting menu and was disappointed with the quality, taste and portion size of the food and the fact that we had to pay £12 extra for the fried jerk chicken which was basically one chicken thigh diced up. Also one of the 'courses' was soda bread which was the size of two fingers, another was a small piece of waffle with some melted cheese on it so you dont get much for your money. What was unforgiveable was that I bit into a piece of wire ( from a dish scourer) in my waffle and even though this was quickly replaced and the waitress did apologise, I was surprised that more was not done to apologise for this error. Unfortunately not a great experience or worth the money and definitely not recommended.
Rather disappointing
At such a price we expect either a decor to match or exceptional dishes. We had neither. Wines that come from the ends of the world but which are not sensational. Nice service but canteen type setting. There must be better things in London.
He goes from strength to strength!
One year later, we took our family to a2:51 @Moko in Tottenham. We were not disappointed! The children were looking forward to the fried chicken. The Caribbean food was delicious- sweet potato curry rool, mutton croquette, and jerk pork ribs were amazing! The ribs were tender and tasty; the croquette was unforgettable. Almost forgot to mention the superb rum raisin espresso Martini. Main course highlight- they were all good, but this was superlative- was salt cod, callaloo, sweetcorn broth. We finished with the coconut ice cream and white chocolate. Great vibe in this relatively new North London venue, and awesome food. He's a talented chef! My girls are already demanding to return! What a great compliment to Chef James. We will return.
Extremely disappointing
Worst Sunday roast ever. Booked the table having read positive, but outdated reviews on the Sunday roast. First warning sign was that they don’t have coffee or tea…e we had to go across the road to Gail’s to get a coffee and bring it back in while waiting for the food! Waited 45 mins for half the lunch to come out and then waited a further few minutes for the other half so we could get started. The food was barely warm and it came with one teeny tiny serving of gravy. Since the roast was all pretty bland it definitely needed the gravy and as two people it wasn’t enough to even cover the potatoes. We asked for some more which took about 10 mins to arrive. Food was cold. They tried to add the charge of £6.50 for the ‘extra’ gravy?! No check back on table or at end of meal. Strange meal experience. Won’t be returning & by looks of other recent reviews it doesn’t seem to be what it apparently once was. P.s other review is correct it is looking a bit run down too.
Something has changed
Honestly wasn’t very good been before and found it lovely. No wifi as needed to be In touch at all times due to work and phone don’t work inside there. Also the cabbage dish was horrendous it was cabbage with lemon poured on it. I don’t know what’s happened to this restaurant but it’s a shame It was soo good. Maybe the owner needs to come back to the restaurant and sort out the problems. Won’t be going back anytime soon soon 😔
Loyal customer
Been here loads of times but this time they stopped serving beers. The decor is getting old. Wonky seats. Amazing service though
Incredible food
The food was so delicious. I’ve been wanting to visit the restaurant for some time and was not disappointed. We had the Sunday set menu and left so unbelievably full from the generous portion sizes. All the courses were beautifully presented and each element was spot on. Honestly some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. Staff were lovely and attentive. Nice to have a fine dining meal and experience without any pretentiousness.
Gross black hair
The staff were lovely mostly. The food was fine mostly, however we thought it was not worth the money nor was it a fine dining experience. My 2 star review is due to finding a long black hair was in my duck croquette. It was so baked in to it that bits of croquette were still in tangled to it when I pulled it from my mouth. I’ve short hair and my friends are blond incase you were wondering. As it put us all off that course hardly any of it was eaten so I was disappointed that no replacement of reimbursement was offered after showing it to the staff. In that same course my vegetarian friend had their duck replaced with a bit of what appeared to be unimaginative cabbage, which we are sure we had eaten in the previous course. We did not feel our feedback on this was taken seriously
Underwhelming
My brother and I treated our parents to the 8 course tasting menu as a belated Christmas Present. The 4 of us were very much looking forward to this dinner being fans of The Great British Menu and fine dining experiences. However, the whole experience was extremely underwhelming. Although each dish looked aesthetically pleasing, there was no wow factor when eating it - it was all very average and no synergy between the courses. The last two courses in particular were disappointing which was essentially a doughnut in a bowl and a waffle with melted cheese on top?. I wouldn't rush back here and it was expensive for what it was worth as we also treated them to the wine pairing too! However, the service was great and our waitresses were knowledgeable; the restaurant was quite cramped too.
A very disappointing experience.
We visited 12.51 on Wed 24th Jan 2024 at 5.30. It was a tasting menu..a gift from our son. Although we accept it was a tasting menu we felt most of the food was too salty and the textures and flavours didn't work. Even the skin on the small piece of duck we got wasn't crispy & the doughnut at the end was stodgy! We were very disappointed especially as it was so expensive. Hard to believe Chef Cochran would be happy with the standard of food we received that evening. Two unhappy customers.
Disappointing.
4/1/24 - 2 of us ordered the 5 course vegetarian tasting menu. 1 of us is gluten free and gave the required 48 hours notice. The food was lovely, but just not enough of it and not enough protein to fill you up. I've had many tasting menus and always been nicely full before (female, size 12 so not a huge appetite) but I left not feeling full. My gluten free daughter, had a nice substitute piece of bread, but after that the gf solution was to simply omit the gluten item and not provide a substitute. So no substitute for the barley in the main course, no doughnut substitute, and actually still expecting us to share the acompanying mousse. Even the waitress realised that looked mean and went to get another mousse. Overall the value for money just wasn't there and the experience was disappointing. Afterwards she was still hungry and we went to Sainsburys for additional food, which isn't what you expect to need to do after spending £100 on your dinner for 2 + of course the 12.5% which is automatically added to your bill.

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

When it says working on bid, it means there are people looking to fill it.
