82 Queen Charleston Reviews from The Last Year
The ambiance at 82 was perfect.
A nice night to be in their greenhouse. The service was attentive until the restaurant started to get busy. Three of had the she crab soup, which was delicious. The shrimp and grits were excellent. All four of use had the soft shells. They were very good but the risotto was cold, even after we sent them back. The restaurant discounted our appetizers, but I wish the risotto was warm.
Whitt is excellent at 82 queen
We had excellent dinner and service from Whitt. lovely setting in garden for a tasty dinner. perfect service!! food was delicious with a wide variety of options for drinks. Wider number of dishes
Excellent food, excellent service.
Every table would have been great but we absolutely loved the courtyard where we were seated. Wonderful evening!
82 Queen has been a favorite restaurant of ours so we made
82 Queen has been a favorite restaurant of ours so we made reservations at Thanksgiving. The servings were like eating at a cafeteria - a scoop of this and that. Very small servings considering we paid around $100 per person. Unfriendly server who never came back to refill our drink. And small average dessert. We were all so disappointed.
After researching popular and must-try foods for our
After researching popular and must-try foods for our anniversary trip to Charleston, 82 Queen came up as the restaurant with the best of Charleston for She-Crab Soup. To-go order: she-crab soup I had no idea what she crab is but figured it was made with female crab meat, but furthermore it has roe in it as only females can have eggs. I love seafood so figured it made sense to try this renowned soup. I wasn't sure what I was expecting but the soup didn't meet any expectation. The wine that was added to the soup was really over powering. The portion of soup that was prepared for my to-go order had little crab meat and I didn't see or taste any roe. The soup was mostly heavy cream and onions. Side note: All my to-go orders have been bagged with proper plastic ware, except this one. The server handed me one of those plastic containers you see at a fast food Chinese joints with no bag and no spoon to eat the soup. He was nice enough to get me a spoon when I asked though.

We tried several places with long wait times before walking into 82 Queen and getting a table right away. Food and service were great and would highly recommend for wkend brunch.
82 Queen
Absolutely excellent place for a meal. The food is amazing. Be sure to try the she crab soup. The outdoor garden is a beautiful place to dine.
Whit rocks!
incredible southern brunch - we shared the crab cake and fried green tomatoes to start, then split the fried oyster salad and the jambalaya. whit steered us the perfect direction - thank you, can’t wait to return!
A Restaurant Not To Be Missed
From the moment we entered this restaurant located in the inside and courtyard of a very old an historic house, we felt that it was a special occasion. Our server Les was knowledgable about all of the dishes and what they contained, and took our allergy concerns (MSG, and out and nitrates – the latter used in the curing of sausage, ham, and other meats) very seriously. There was no problem with modifying what we wished to order, although there could have been difficulties modifying some of the other dishes. The food was impeccably prepared and very attractively presented. Our server was very attentive without being obtrusive, and both he and the food werrbexcellent in all respects. We have no hesitation in recommending the restaurant most highly.

I have mixed reviews for 82 Queen, and I'll be honest
I have mixed reviews for 82 Queen, and I'll be honest across the board because out of all the places we ate, this was the least special. First thing, Charleston is really crazy specific about their reservations. All restaurants follow the rez's to a T and wiggle room is like non exsistant. We were able to get our table inside and were seated when we got there after the host girls needed to have a meeting to see if they could do it. The food...not great, except for the Flounder and Grits, which were alright. But I highly recommend to share cause the portions are huge. The southern pickens food was not great, the Pimento Cheese didn't taste right, even the waiter said it looked off when he served it, so not a good sign. If this place is booked up and you were hoping for a rez, don't worry, you're not missing anything.
Best soup and staff
Whit was wonderful! Helped us with the menu and recommended the She Crab Soup. We enjoyed sitting down and resting after visiting all the different art galleries. The atmosphere was gorgeous, the venue, beautiful outdoors and staff was whitty! :). We also had Bloody Mary that were delicious.
Wonderful brunch!
Wonderful brunch on a rainy day. The She Crab Soup and Oyster Salad were absolutely terrific. Our server Wit was great too!
Delightful experience
We had a delicious meal. Whit was our waiter and very attentive. Highly recommend the crab cakes and shrimp and grits. A Charleston gem!
Beautiful gardens and atmosphere.
My sister had crab cakes and they were probably the best either of us have ever had. I had the jambalaya and it was amazing. Our server was the sweetest lady who wanted to make sure we had the best experience.

Everything from appetizers, cocktails and main dishes were very good. Our server was excellent and very helpful with the menus. Our big disappointment was the ambiance. We were seated in the upstairs dining room. No music, just the hum of the air conditioning and the cries of the babies in the room. We asked if the music could be turned up (there was a speaker above our table) but told that the volume was set for the outside seating and they couldn't do anything. As we walked through the outdoor seating it appeared much better. Music and a nice romantic atmosphere.
I cannot believe I haven't been here sooner as a Charleston
I cannot believe I haven't been here sooner as a Charleston local. It had been on our list forever and decided to give it a try when we had family visiting. Everything from the hostess's, to our extremely professional and knowledgeable waiter Whit, and oh my goodness the food. I got the braised beef short rib, we tried the jambalaya, the filet and shrimp, she crab soup (one of my favorites I've had in the low country) and salad. Everything was incredible so much so that we're coming back later this week. Whit- thank you for stroking my ego complimenting my wine choice in front of my family of connoisseurs. It went farther than you could ever imagine. Will absolutely be back many many more times.
Best service we've had during our stay in Charleston! Myles
Best service we've had during our stay in Charleston! Myles was incredibly polite, informative and speedy during our gals brunch on Saturday morning. We will definitely be back anytime we come through Charleston for another girls weekend in the future. The French toast and biscuits and gravy was to die for! Thank you so much Myles!
Ask for Whit!
So great! Whit is the best server!!! The food was incredible, the ambience was amazing. I will definitely be back soon!!
Great service!
Scotty was the best!! Great drinks and great service. The atmosphere was beautiful and really enjoyed the food! Will be back soon.

This was a significant evening for us for many reasons. Lynda and I were celebrating our 50 Wedding Anniversary on April 24th dinner at 82 Queen. Also a place we had enjoyed very much many years ago when our first child attended the College of Charleston. Our server, Whitt was just amazing, and so good at making our night special. In particular, his charm, efficiency and genuine refreshing personality was evident to us and I believe all he served. He is truly one of a rare group of people who exude their joy in service to the guests, and I believe he's one of the longest serving waiters there. We also met his daughter, I think her name was Zen, and the loving relationship he had for his 15-year-old daughter and coworker was visible and touching. Jim and Lynda Richmond
Highly disappointed in this meal particularly for the price
Highly disappointed in this meal particularly for the price we paid. Honestly, even if we had paid half the amount that we did, we would have been disappointed and would not return. The good: lovely restaurant and atmosphere and excellent service and hospitality. The back courtyard (although we did not eat there was lovely. We had an excellent cocktail: the berry mojito was refreshing and tasty. Unfortunately, one comes to a restaurant for the food, and this is where 82 Queen fails. First bite of everything was positive and hopeful...but after about 3 bites we both realized that most of the flavor was salt, and by the 4th and 5th bite all we could taste was salt. One dimensional and not in a good way. My husband ordered the she crab soup and the jumbalaya. He said ( in addition to the saltiness) that they both had the same flavor - as if it had come from powder in a packet. The jambalaya was dry. I ordered the braised beef, which had potential. Lovely presentation and the soft texture of the meat was on point. However, there was not enough sauce to balance the meat, which was dry on the inside--and that sauce was too salty in any case! The mashed potatoes were bland. Only the haricots verts I fully enjoyed. Crisp, light and flavorful. Overall, not recommended, except for an afternoon cocktail. To splurge on a highly rated and reviewed restaurant where entrees are over $40 and finding the food this bad was the low point of our Charleston trip.l

The place is large, with a lot of different seating areas, both indoor and out. Outdoor seating had numerous heaters and looked comfortable. Inside, our server was friendly but very busy handling at least six tables. We waited 30 min for our order, multiple starters, no entrees. The crabcake was OK, not great, and was salty. The tomato pie was overwhelmed by the cheese, which detracted from the very good tomatoes. The She crab soup was excellent and lived up to its reputation. Another starter was good, not great. With all the other great dining choices in Charleston we probably won't go back.
Great sea food and wine selection.nice outdoor seating.
Nice restaurant with great service and food .Sea food is outstanding. Outside seating is very nice in a courtyard. Wine selection is good. Service was excellent
Always a pleasant experience.
The food was delicious, not a long wait for the food and our server (Scottie) was a pleasure to work with. We’ve never had a bad experience here.
82 Queen and Whit
We had a wonderful time and just a fun evening, with outstanding meals. Our server, Whit, made the whole experience a treat. Excellent job, 82 Queen and Whit!
Old friends meet up
Had a most wonderful meet up of old friends! Our server, Scotty, was so absolutely wonderful, personable and happy! Food scrumptious! Highly recommend tomato pie for lunch!
Lunch with the Family - Request Whit as Server!
We had a great experience with Whit as our server! The food was great, scenery was perfect, and Whit made the experience even better. Highly recommend!
Best she crab soup in Charleston!
We were seated in the library, or dog room. As puppy lovers, perfect! Natalie, our server, was top of the line. Friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and efficient. We tried three different she crab soups at different places during our Charleston visit, this is the best. We left a package behind and it was quickly located and we were able to get it. I will dream about that soup!
Restaurant not to miss
Great ambiance. Food was fabulous. Fried green tomatoes were outstanding. . Whit was our waiter, he was attentive and made our night especially fun.

be aware that the pictures which make this place look great fail to include the second floor seating which is like a cafeteria- awful! Our "view" included a rooftop AC unit on one side, trash cans on the other and there was no ambience. Ugly tables and chairs, no art, no fabrics, no charm whatsoever. The manager came to tell us that "next time" we should ask for first floor or garden seating. She was embarrassed when I pulled up the web site images and asked if this was a bait and switch. Plus, the supposedly award winning she crab soup was gummy, with too much flour in the roux. Incredibly disappointed and frankly mad at the fact we wasted time and money when there are other excellent restaurant choices.

Beware they have a horrid second floor which makes their on line marketing a bait and switch. Terrible! The manager actually said that "next time" I should ask to be seated elsewhere if I want ambience. While the first floor and patio ooze with charm we had a cafeteria table and cheap chairs, zero art or interior design, and a view of trash cans to the left and rooftop AC to the right. To top it off the food was OK not great, the famed soup was gummy with too much flour in the roux. Nothing special, no charm and I regret the experience. It was our last night in Charleston and the worst place we've ever dined here.

We reserved a table on Sunday for 2 in the courtyard for brunch. We ordered the chicken livers, the she crab soup, and the softshell crab special to share. The soup was a rich and creamy delight. No wonder it is what they are known for. The base was velvety smooth, with a pronounced crab flavor that was both comforting and indulgent. The addition of sherry gave it a subtle depth of flavor and the generous amount of lump crab meat added a nice contrast in texture. Our favorite dish was the fried chicken livers. They were cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. It's not often we see livers on a menu and even more rare when they are done right. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking to try something new, these dishes are definitely worth a taste!
Not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said about
Not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said about this esteemed restaurant. The food is always phenomenal and it's in a lovely part of the French quarter. We sat in their lovely courtyard on a sunny Sunday for brunch, our waiter was exemplary and personable, the drinks were on point and every bite was amazing. The softie was fantastic but the fried chicken livers and grits blew me away, I still think about them. There's a reason why they are award winning and it's well deserved.

We were told that this was one of the best restaurants in all of Charleston. I wasn't overly impressed to be honest. At this price point, the service was average as was the food. The she crab soup was supposed to be the best in the city, but I've had much better. Revival's soup is much better. I would recommend that restaurant compared to 82.
Food was good and service were great.
It was a bit pricey for lunch. Lunch was $90 total with two drinks and food shown but again all was good!
Food was ok quiet bland.
The best thing was the she crab soup per my husband. Fried green tomatoes were ok nothing to write home about. The jambalaya was good but not great and the vegetable sides were blah. No bread service the drinks were good and we will see about dessert.
