Received a text less than 3 hours before we arrived saying
Received a text less than 3 hours before we arrived saying they had cancelled our reservation. The explanation was that the "restaurant was fully booked, so we had to cancel your order". Which was a very frustrating response as it made no sense. We booked the reservation several days earlier and also received a confirmation email the night before, which we confirmed. We cleared our schedule to make this restaurant, was driving from the North of Mallorca for the day and got a text in the middle of driving. No alternative time was offered to us, whoever texted us seemed very unapologetic, no good reason was given for the last minute cancellation. Maybe the food is good but if you care about the experience and customer service, Adrian Quetglas' restaurant may not be for you and your family's precious vacation time.
Be the first to ReplyHave I eaten better at a one Michelin starred restaurant?
Have I eaten better at a one Michelin starred restaurant? Probably! Have I eaten better for 35 euros? I highly doubt it. This place is a steal: 5 full courses for 35 € is hard to beat, even if you go outside the Michelin guide. To make it even better: 25 € for the 5 glasses of matching wine? You must be kidding!I tried several times to book via their website but was unable to get a table confirmation through the online booking system (probably due to my dumbness) so I wrote them an email asking a for a table for lunch on a Saturday mid-September. But no response, so I decided to whatsapp them - following their website suggestion, also without any response from their side. So I assumed that it was fully booked but about an hour before their lunch service they called me telling me that they had a table for me!Since I originally planned to just walk into one of the many tapas places in Palma and I was behind the corner I decided to roll with it and go for lunch considering the reasonable price. The food was well balanced, the Hake dish with Parsley Bomba rice and Clam espuma was extremely delicious but I can not fault the other dishes either. All of them were well executed. I think it is well worth the money, I've never eaten this good for 35€! I (regretfully) only took one glass of wine since I had a bunch of other activities planned that afternoon. I let the waiter choose one glass to go with the complete menu. He recommended the rose. Now, I dislike anything which is not red wine in general, but this wine was a good surprise. It wasn't too overpowering or sweet, it had a nice lightness which went well with the food. I would certainly wanted to have tried the whole wine selection. I was recommended this restaurant by a colleague and looking at the price level I was a bit hesitant since there is no such thing as a free lunch but Adrian Quetglas comes pretty close. Recommended!
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance was a refreshing and natural environment.
There was a lot of light and plants. They had a very green color theme. There was a green moss wall, plants along the windows acting as curtain, and fern bar, and green chairs. We made a reservation here the night before and were able to get a lunch spot. The set menu was five courses for 35 euros and 25 euros for wine tasting. We only did the food. You could also add on a cheese course for 12 euros which we did not. We did however get one glass of wine for 5 euros. The menu was excellent and very imaginative. The value was tremendous for the food quality. Our waiter was very good as well. They were also able to accommodate no pork for myself very easily. Highly recommended for lunch if you in Palma.
Be the first to ReplyCame here with a reservation to try a Michelin-rated
Came here with a reservation to try a Michelin-rated restaurant in Mallorca. The restaurant opens at 8pm so we booked in advance for the first seating. Upon entrance we had our coats taken and got seated right away. The dinner was around 3 hours which was really long for 7 courses. The dinner was a prefixed menu with two desserts in the end for 50€ per person. For an additional cost you can pair wine to each course for 25€ per person. We just opted for our own glass of wine with our meal. The still water is an additional charge too. Complimentary bread with the homemade butter aioli was delicious! It also came in the most adorable little jar.- Mushroom pate with pear chutney & cured duck: i am personally not a mushroom fan or chutney so i wasn't a fan of this dish. - Seafood creme with plankton yolk and saffron ice cream: the order to eat this is to take a spoon of the sauce to eat first and then the entire green plankton yolk in the middle as a whole into the mouth. It really popped like a yolk which was interesting. The saffron ice cream was interesting but the flavoring didn't wow me.- Winter style rice with an Asian touch: this was rice with kimchee flavoring and bok Chou which gave it the Asian touch. I enjoyed the rice though i rarely tasted kimchee. The little bits of meat was also tasty.- Negrito with sea roe-aioli & fresh herbs quinoa: the fish was delicious and perfectly cooked. Everything was covered in squid ink for the black coloring and the foam was actually very lemon-y which was interesting in aesthetics too. - White veal with chestnuts & spicy berry ragout: the veal was cooked very well and paired with chestnut sauce and bits was yum.- Pigeon with chestnuts & spicy berry ragout (additional 7€): this is a substitute option for the veal, and we went for it because it would give us another dish to try between the two of us. The pigeon was sous vide so it was soft but cooked perfectly in texture with some red in the middle. Recommend ordering.- Coconut, mango, & green curry: surprisingly the curry paired well with this dessert. It was mixed with the coconut pudding. The plating reminded me of a volcano and you would crack the meringue on top to eat with everything else. Mango is always good so this was a solid dish.- Roasted apples with nougat ice cream and hot chocolate: lots of dark chocolate flavor so mixing with the sweet apples and ice cream helped. Prefer the dessert before.Service was attentive and nice. However, i didn't think the food was Michelin rated other than the service and plating. The dishes came out on such unique plates and bowls that it definitely intrigued me, but the food was just so-so. The flavors used in each dish were unique but not my cup of tea. We spent a total of 123.20€ total between two people for a Michelin restaurant, which isn't too pricey compared to one's in the U.S.A.
Be the first to ReplyA Star well deserved! Great service although the servers
A Star well deserved! Great service although the servers seemed a little stressed with a full house. The good: delicious food and a balanced tasting menu. Even the whipped butter with garlic that came with the bread was amazing! I was also on a waiting list for the night and they called right away when a spot opened! Great service! The dishes were also so pretty. I've been to many Michelin stars and usually the same types of dishes are used. These were very unique!Improvement: bigger bottles of water! This is a long meal and although I want to rely on wine I can't! It was very annoying having to order multiple bottles of water.

Adrian Quetglas was our dinner spot for our second night in Mallorca. Despite the calendar on the website not showing any availability, we were able to make a late (for us) reservation at 8:30 PM to have dinner here. It turned out we were one of the very first people in, with the restaurant being completely filled by the time we left 2 hours later! With storefronts and casual restaurants lining the same block, you might not expect a great restaurant to be hiding in plain sight - but it's hard to say anything other than exemplary things about the experience here. The staff was very warm and friendly (and perhaps a bit surprised at how quickly we ate), and the restaurant itself has a homey feel with a more modern feel to it. There's no rush at all to get out for follow-up seatings, so you can definitely get a couple bottles of wine and take your merry time if you want. There is a wine pairing with dinner (25 euros for 5 glasses!), but we stuck with the tasting menu (one of the better uses of 50 euros you'll find anywhere) and a glass or two of wine on the side. The food leans heavily on Spanish influences, but I did read that the chef here spent a decent amount of time in Russia as well. This is most noticeable for the 'borscht' that was served (a very delicious version served with a very delicious beet broth that was very smooth and easy to eat), but given the twists on other dishes we had, there is undoubtedly more Russian influence that I missed given my lack of familiarity with that cuisine. That said, what is served is a very unique interpretation of Spanish cuisine, with flavors and textures that aim to surprise (and please). The steak tartare was more flavored (as with typical tartares in Europe), but the 'carbon egg' (what was an egg yolk infused to make it a darker hue of yellow/orange) gave it a denser flavor, as opposed to the typical creaminess of a yolk, and the almond puree gave it a bit of nuttiness melded well with the pastier mouthfeel. The 'negrito' fish was excellent - aside from being a thick piece of fish, it covered in a delicious, slightly sweet squash puree, giving it a very distinctive color. In particular, I really enjoyed the light hint of sea urchin in the consomme, as well as the hints of yuzu, giving it a slightly Asian twist. The veal was something else - it was divinely delicious, but even with a little bit of veggies on it, it was served with chocolate(!) and passion fruit. I don't think I have ever eaten a beef or veal dish that kind of tasted like dessert, but it worked somehow - and very well. We finished off with some fun desserts as well; the grilled apple (served almost like a soup or porridge of sorts) with the cheese ice cream and hazelnuts made for a slightly funky, nutty, earthy mix of deliciousness. The finishing dish - half coconut cream, half chocolate, but served frozen - and more airy than the ice cream it appears to be - was a more traditional but delightfully light way to end the meal.Despite being a 7-course meal, you probably won't be too full by the end (unless you get in on the bread, which is freshly baked and tasty like everything else here). Given that we had our share of more traditional Spanish cuisine when in Palma, this was definitely an eye-opener and mind/tongue-bender - but in a good way. I'd love to come back and eat here again, simply because of how interesting and fun the meal was, and honestly how friendly the folks were here. Given the location, it is very accessible to the older part of the town, and if you are visiting, you have to take a break from eating tapas and have a fantastic meal here.
Be the first to ReplyBest meal of the week in Palma, considering that I tried
Best meal of the week in Palma, considering that I tried other tasting menus(which were more pricey)!I went for the lunch menu of 6 tasting dishes for 35€ (great value for money)! The waiting staff are all efficient and very engaged throughout the meal, very passionate about the product served.Portions were adequate for a menu and all the dishes gelled well together! The lunch menu changes every often, so will definitely come back the next time in Palma.

wow. the best resturant I have ever had the pleasure of dining at. every single course was perfection. I was hesitant at first of the tasting menu since two of the dishes featured fish which I don't really like but WOW. so good and light and refreshing, best tasting food i've had. highly recommend if you are in mallorca. at 50 euros too, its great value for a michelin resturant tasting menu
Be the first to ReplyThis was quite a wonderful experience.
My recommendation is to do the wine pairing with the meal. For 70 euros, you'll have quite possibly the most filling and enjoyable dining experiences for a price fixed menu restaurant. Incredibly attentive wait staff who made sure that my wife's tree nut allergy was taken seriously. Even chef Adrian came out to our table to say "hi" and explain a nut free meal he prepared for our tasting course.A blend of ice cream, beef, cheese, mushrooms... sounds disgusting right? Absolutely not! This clever concoction blended all of the tastes you could achieve and made a great appetizer. Probably my favorite part of the meal. Expect items like this where you taste all different flavors rushing in. An A+ dining experience!
Be the first to ReplyOur one and only Michelin resto tasting in Mallorca and I
Our one and only Michelin resto tasting in Mallorca and I can't say I was amazed. The price was a bargain for a Mechlin star tasting menu. At €50 per person, we got 6 course meal. Each dishe was very unique with exquisite presentation but the taste fell a bit flat for me. I didn't think all the flavours and textures blended well together. My husband and friend all felt the same way. Perhaps it's just us. The service was excellent. We showed up without an reservation and they accommodated us with a very nice table outside on the patio. Every dish was explained to us and our liquids were filled promptly.
