5 star Experience
If you are looking for a special Afternoon Tea experience this is the place to visit. From start to finish we were treated like royalty and nothing was too much trouble. Chryssa made sure we could not ask for anything more. We were lucky enough to have the festive upgrade and the Christmas Pudding was divine. All the food and champagne was perfect and we had cakes to bring home as we could not eat everything. This was an exceptional Afternoon Tea! I am sure the pictures do not do it justice!

Been coming to claridges a lot over the past few months it’s my new favourite haunt while I am in London. First time in this part of the hotel. Staff are fantastic so polite and welcoming. I am a very casual dressed person so I’m in jeans, hoodie and trainers and I was still treated very nicely (compared to a lot of other London hotels where this would not happen). Got sat in a nice little corner of the restaurant which is what I asked for. The food was fantastic and the staff you cannot fault at all. The experience you get for what you pay is worth every single penny. Got given a for box of fudge ton my way out by the amazing waiter. Can’t wait to come back.
Be the first to ReplyCLARIDGES not the experience you pay for!
We went here for afternoon teas as part of my sisters 50th birthday, and it wasn’t the experience we were hoping for. I wish we had booked The Savoy or The Ritz, which incidentally are cheaper. It started when we arrived by taxi, the doorman asked our taxi driver to move along, the taxi driver explained he was dropping us off, we were then greeted with a half hearted doorman opening the door for us with no greeting, he was too interested in the BMW behind us, which the other doorman was dealing with. We then went into the foyer for our afternoon tea, I know the dress code is smart casual, but a hoodie and trainers for me is not this. Our server was nice, but I felt we had more attention from other more senior servers. We had booked Claridge’s Bar for 6.45, we were taken through and were seated, we were quite happy until we realised they had us sat beside a door that leads out to the terrace, which people were using, including staff, the door was left open and the wind that was coming through was quite something. The bar staff were very apologetic, I asked one member of staff if we could move to another table, he went and spoke to the hostess and came back and said there was nothing at the moment, at that time there were a couple of tables free, he asked the hostess again later and was told, yes I have a note. We decide to finish our drinks and go elsewhere, which was a shame as we were looking forward to relaxing and having a few drinks. One of the tables was still empty when we left, so we could have had the lovely night we were looking forward to. The doormen had changed when we left and they in turn were lovely. I wouldn’t recommend and I certainly won’t be back.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful 50th anniversary celebration
We dined at Claridge’s restaurant for lunch for my parents 50th anniversary. From the moment I booked to paying the bill our experience was fantastic. The team at the restaurant emailed options for champagne on arrival and a cake to celebrate. I also wanted to have flowers delivered ahead of our arrival and they helped to ensure the flowers were received and taken to our table. We had drinks at the bar beforehand and without even informing them of who we were they brought a little dessert and happy 50th anniversary written on the plate. Once in the dining room we had a wonderful oval table to seat us comfortably- we were 6 adults and 4 children. Elizabeth and her team were so attentive and accommodating. The food was delicious- especially the halibut and beef wellington. One of the halibuts was overcooked but they quickly brought a new dish when this was raised. All of the children had an adult meal and thoroughly enjoyed them. The cake was delicious. The atmosphere as wonderful- not too quiet but enough buzz. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion. Thank you again

Utterly delightful. Without a doubt the service, food, ambiance is worth every penny. Fabulous attention to detail. Beautifully presented selection of sandwiches which are replenished seamlessly as required. Tea selection which is explained with precision. Warm, fresh scones fluffy and gorgeous. Staff are well trained and could not have done more. Pianist tops off the overall experience. Fantastic and highly recommended.

I don't understand how the other reviewers failed to notice the Christmas decorations - there were loads and it was very festive. Although the Louis Vuitton "Christmas tree" in the lobby was questionable. The food was of an excellent standard and the service faultless; friendly and efficient without being intrusive. However I have a couple of minor quibbles which prevent it getting an Excellent rating: firstly if they're going to charge supplements on the festive set menu, it's not unreasonable to expect this to be reflected in the online versions nowadays. Secondly, the light in the side area was too dim - I can have trouble reading in low light, so reading the wine list was difficult. I will definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyRather disappointed
We had the afternoon tea and it was deeply disappointing. I understand it’s Christmas and may cut some slack to the staff. And they need it: the service was extremely slow and uncoordinated. But the very least you’d expect from a place of this class and pedigree is good food and great presentation. None of the above at all. No beautiful tiers that English afternoon tea is famous for. Just stacks of sandwiches that looked very industrial. Unremarkable tableware too. And of course food… the bread that sticks to your palate… I would expect on a cost cutting airline. Please, go to the nearest Brown’s and ask them for a lesson. This is not a rant, this is just a shock of discrepancy between the setting, the cost and the value.

Went for lunch . Considering it was Christmas there was no Christmas theme in the restaurant. Service average, poor starter, over priced and inconsistent as table next to us were served petit four . Maitre d didn’t even present herself and had to ask who was the maitre d . We voiced our disappointment but unfortunately it fell on deaf ears , she was not interested. London has far superior restaurants than Claridges in this price bracket .
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing food at outrageous prices
We thought Claridges would be the perfect place for a treat for Christmas. The Louis Vitton Christmas tree was underwhelming. We had booked for lunch and was expecting something really special. I had the recommended chicken pie and mash which was ok. The chicken seemed dry and for the price I would have expected something more exciting. The chocolate bomb dessert was nice but the limoncello dessert did not look appetising at all and was just half a lemon with some sour tasting mixture inside. Very disappointing. However it was the cheese plate which was really dreadful. Some tiny bits of cheese and none particularly exciting or interesting, a few crackers, bits of celery and grapes and a pot of tomato ketchup!!! The person serving us kept denying that it was tomato ketchup but then had to concede and took our teas and coffees off the bill. The bill was exorbitant as expected. The service was good, the cocktails and bread were probably the best part of our lunch. A complete let down and the food quality was very poor. I won’t be returning.

Claridges Foyer is sumptuous to say the least. £110 festive menu plus drinks and service. The staff were wonderful, the food delicious and quite plentiful. I recommend the gingerbread dessert.
Be the first to Replygorgeous breakfast & setting
We picked a lovely time to visit for breakfast end of November, as the entrance and lobby were beautifully decorated for Christmas. The foyer also stunning. The breakfast croissant was very tasty, great quality. Service was flawless and staff attentive. Of course on the pricey side but overall lovely experience and I recommend. Also nice touch some sweets to choose from when leaving.
Be the first to ReplyChampagne Afternoon Tea
A wonderful champagne afternoon tea for my wife's birthday. The Claridges equivalent to English Breakfast tea was lovely. Sandwiches, scones, cakes, all delicious and rounded off with a coffee. Our waiter, Leo, was outstanding: so polite and attentive. Thank you. I do not drink but was still able to take part with some alcohol free fizz. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Went for a Birthday meal, food was just ok nothing to really write home about and quality was average, found the menu limited, they had a set menu but could still have something off the main menu for the same price, plus one desert that was on both menu's, set menu was £10 while on the main menu it was £20. The tables was left dirty after people left, not the greatest of experiences at all.
Be the first to ReplySpecial birthday lunch
What a marvellous occasion to celebrate my birthday. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. Had oysters, roast quail and ox cheek. The latter was perhaps a little too salty but otherwise it was all superb. Finished with tarte tatin and petit fours. Thanks to everyone. We will come back soon.
Be the first to ReplyA Venue 2nd to None
Ok I’ve been mean with my four stars . We have dined at most of, if not all Claridges London rivals , As venues go it is 2nd to none , only The Lanesborough comes close . It’s beautiful Art Deco through and through . This is the premier location for a special night out . We’ve also been to The Ritz , The Connaught, The Savoy and The Dorchester, there’s something special about Claridges. It is also the only establishment I’ve been to that all the waiters knew my name , only a small gesture but it was nice. The food was very nice and certainly competed well with its rivals , however it wasn’t quite The Connaught which is Michelin Star. Having said this the food is very good and I especially liked the Ox Cheek main course . Overall if you’re looking for a memorable meal in a beating location there is nowhere better.
Be the first to ReplyBest Afternoon Tea in London in luxury surroundings
The Afternoon Tea experience at Claridge's is truly unique. The food served as a part of Afternoon Tea is the best in London; the sandwiches offer the best ratio of delicious filling to bread, and the cakes are absolutely delicious. And the scones are probably the best I ever tasted. I had to deduct one star as we visited the restaurant in December and because the area where the afternoon tea is served is close to the doors, which were constantly being opened, it was absolutely freezing. Every time the door opened, there was a draft of freezing air reaching us. I was offered a blanket but even with a blanket, I was shivering as it was very cold. I think it would be a much better experience if there was some glass or other partition, separating this area from the doors. I visited previously at other times of the year and it was also very cold due to the door proximity.
Be the first to ReplyClassy, elegant and delicious!
We visited Claridge's for lunch on Sunday. The experience was fantastic, great menu featuring salads, burgers, club sandwiches etc. I ordered a chicken caesar salad which was delicious, and my friend ordered a lobster roll which looked amazing. The place has a very opulent and elegant feel, with the piano player in the background and stunning decor. Prices are expensive but you get what you pay for.
Be the first to ReplyOk not worth a visit though
Food was OK not great. Lobster was salty and very rubbery hard to eat felt like eating rubber! Beef was ok again not great hard to chew . Claridges are supposed to be brilliant for food and hospitality, sadly this restaurant lacked so much, the chairs were uncomfortable to sit in ,they are not made for diners to sit back and relax in. Only highlight was we met Tom hanks in the restaurant! As for the food 3/10
Be the first to ReplyPleasant but could be improved
We visited Claridges for afternoon tea as a Birthday treat. The hotel is grand and you are made to feel very welcome. The staff were attentive and friendly. It was a week day so maybe we had a better service due to the place being quiet. Being high tea enthiusiasts, we were looking forward to experiencing what Claridges had to offer. Unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. The tea menu was a little scarce of choice and you only receive one fresh pot. The waiter was frequently topping up the water but it was luke warm and undrinkable after the first cup. The sandwiches were well presented and for me, the highlight of the afternoon. The scones were tiny and tastless and the pastries average for this level of service. All in all a pleasant experience but we won't be returning. There are better and less expensive places to have afternoon tea.
Be the first to ReplyA Good Afternoon Tea, but not Fantastic
Make no mistake, if you head to Claridge's, you will have a pleasant afternoon tea which will be good. But, for us, it wasn't excellent. For the price and the prestige, it falls slightly behind the efforts of similar places for afternoon tea around London (Harrods, The Ritz, Fortnum's). The sandwiches and scones were lovely, but the desserts were very hit and miss with some of the flavours and textures not working at all. The service was rather slow at times, at one point waiting 20 minutes for a drink which ended up coming cold anyway. Additionally, due to the layout of the seating area, a number of covers could not really hear the pianist. The tables and chairs are also not the comfiest. These are minor complaints, yes, but if you're looking for an outstanding afternoon tea in London there are better alternatives.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing dinner mixed with the afternoon tea punters - at 8 pm!
Hotel excellent overall, as were the staff. However, a very disappointing dinner in the hotel "breakfast and afternoon tea Foyer". At £450 for two people, it was not a great experience being mixed in what felt a little bit like an upmarket café. Avoid Dinner at Claridge's until the next restaurant is open in May 23.
