I had such a wonderful experience here.
I went alone to afternoon tea, which I was a bit nervous about, but everyone was so welcoming and it didn't feel awkward that I was alone. The food and tea selection were delicious and overflowing. I ate so much I genuinely thought it was going to be a problem. Some things are expensive but not worth it. This was not one of them.

Came here for afternoon tea and had a great time! There was beautiful decor and relaxing live music playing the whole time we were there. We were served fast and the server always made sure we got more sandwiches and tea whenever we wanted! However though the food and desserts were good and presented in a nice way, there wasn't anything that I was overly impressed by, given the high price. I would come again for the overall experience, but not for the afternoon tea menu itself.

Be the first to ReplyA great hotel located in the heart of London has great tea
A great hotel located in the heart of London has great tea (afternoon tea at 3 p.m.) They take several different credit cards, and have big rooms. I went there with my family years ago, and they serve delicious food. I don't have any photos or I would share them. It is not cheap, but it is definitely worth it.

Love this Decco ocean liner, like hallways.sumptuously Deep n thick wool carpeting. They still have the bell system With , Valet - housekeeping and (1) for the waiter. That comes to ur room to get ur order- def old school proper, upstairs /downstairs air to get this 5+ star hotel rating - definitely one of the best hotels , in the world. Afternoon tea is a Luxury, to have in one's room or suite . Champagne and Endless trays of tea sandwich's and warm scones & Devon crème.

I recently dined at Claridge's and unfortunately, I can only give it a 3-star rating due to a disappointing service experience. Upon arriving early, it took an excessive 30 minutes for our order to be taken, but we understood that we were early diners. However, the major issue was that the staff completely forgot about us. On the positive side, Claridge's did serve some of the best sandwiches and tea I've had, but the downfall was that they never returned to check or refill our tea, despite us asking for it. We specifically came for the tea experience, and it was disappointing to have our dessert without tea since it had disappeared. What added to our frustration was the lack of attention from the staff. We had to actively seek out the waiter every time we needed something, and even then, they often failed to follow up on our requests. This overall experience was quite disappointing, and one of the waiters even admitted that they were understaffed for our table. Good service is a fundamental reason to choose a place like Claridge's in the first place, and this aspect was severely lacking during our visit. I hope they address these issues, as the potential for a great dining experience is there, but it was marred by the poor service we encountered.

Be the first to ReplyHard to overstate how great the tea service is here.
Every piece of it was perfect, from the service to the quality of the teas, to the qualities of the food, to the ambiance. It was perfectly done, and even had lots of personalized elements to it. Very pricey for sure, but worth it as an experience!
Be the first to ReplyLord, was this a hassle.
Arrived at check-in, room wasn't ready. Went to get a pedicure, came back, finally ready. Went up to our room that was supposed to be two beds. It was one bed. We flew for 15 hours and we're super jet lagged. They claimed the beds could split but realized they couldn't, but didn't have a room ready for what they said would be several hours. there was tons of back-and-forth and miscommunication about this. They said we could nap and call down when we were awake to check on the new room. They ended up calling 45 minutes later with a new room to check out, waking us up after saying they wouldn't call and bother until we were awake. Cranky. We go to the new room "with a better view" and a double bed. We walked into a view of the top of dirty buildings and construction just to have an open bathroom floor plan with zero privacy. We napped some more until they could get us what we paid for and book ample time ahead. They ended up "upgrading" us which was just a slightly bigger room with no view at all but we were just happy to have bathroom privacy and double beds. Third room in the first 12 hours on the property. Just wanted what we paid for! We ended up grabbing food in the lobby restaurant that night. We ordered our favorites: champagne, amazing oysters and caviar. They ended up treating to this meal which was unexpected but the least that could have been done considering our first impressions of our stay. Went to bed, woke up, ordered egg white omelets with veggies and orange juice for room service. Not an hour later were we both throwing up and on the toilet for the now next 3 days. We let the chefs know and they "investigated" the kitchen. Don't really know how they were to determine how our food was specifically prepared... we had to extend our booking because we could not leave the hotel room from being so beyond sick. Nothing was done about that. This was my first time in London, supposedly at the nicest hotel in the city, and I was not even able to explore one bit. The investigation concluded that no one else was sick - not sure what that had to do with us, very clearly sick. They didn't not waive or discount any accommodations. Will never be back. Sad. Housekeeping was great and property was super clean.

Of course my room is not ready, but the clerk walked me around to various bars while wait.

Afternoon tea at Claridges includes: sandwiches, scones, pastries, and unlimited teaSandwiches: Poached and smoked salmon with samphire on rye bread 6.74/10- I was honestly most excited for this sandwich as I love smoked salmon, however I was a bit disappointed because I thought it would be more flavorful. However most of the flavor was from the salmon, and the sandwich itself was a bit dry. It was still okay and the salmon was very fresh.Coronation chicken on brown granary bread 8.78/10- this was my second favorite sandwich, so much flavor and hints of spices!! Absolutely loved itHam with tomato chutney and watercress on onion bread 7.42/10- this was tasty however it could have used more chutney. Ham itself added a lot of flavor but I couldn't tell the bread was onion bread Egg with tomato and basil on white bread 5.31/10- pretty bland, it was just okay. Honestly had higher expectations. Also egg was a bit lukewarm, would definitely taste better if served cold.Cucumber with lemon cream cheese on white bread 6.78/10- your average cucumber and cream cheese sandwich, enjoyed it however also was hoping for more flavor. Goat cheese, tomato, and basil eclair 9.88/10- this was my favorite sandwich of them all. SO flavorful. The eclair was very light and fluffy, the basil added a lot of flavor but wasn't overwhelming. The goat cheese was strong and made this sandwich taste like a savory pastry. Honestly so good. If sandwiches all tasted like this I'd have sandwiches all the time. Truly outdid themselves with this one.Plain and raisin scones 10/10- these were both so good. I liked the raisin one more just due to the added texture and sweetness of the raisin, however both of them were so fluffy, doughy, and filled with butter. Exceptional. Served with Cornish clotted cream and Marco Polo geléePastries:Chocolate and pistachio 4.34/10- a bit too dry for my liking and I don't think this paired well Caramel Saint honoré 7.32/10- really liked the filo pastry and the caramel was very rich in flavor Raspberry Eton 9.34/10 my personal fav, loved the custard filling Frasier with vanilla ganache 7.86/10- custard was good; didn't like the outerAnd for the tea at Claridge's we tried 9 different blends, those being:Claridge's blend- exclusive to Claridge's, English Breakfast tea, has a malty finishThe rare chai - different from a regular chai because it's handcrafted and enhanced with spices, regular chai often uses "low grade tea and disguises it with spices" Malawi antler - made from the stems of the tea bush, "antlers" represent the earth of Malawi, only a few kilos of this tea are produced every year, and it can only be found in two places: one being Claridge's Jasmine silver tip - white tea, jasmine flowers are made to have this tea scented over 6 nights rather than artificially scented! White Silver tip- made entirely from spring buds that can only be picked for 20 days out of the entire year in mountains in eastern china, highest level of antioxidants and lowest caffeine levelRose pouchong - Indian black tea made with rose petals Sri Lankan hand rolled- hand rolled leaf to make tea, only a few kilos of this tea are produced per yearGenmaicha - top grade sencha crafted by Moriuchi San- huge tea master on his 200 year old tea garden in ShizuokaFresh English mint - grown exclusively for Claridge's in the Botanical Gardens in CornwallSuch a cute spot for tea and they have rare selections!! Definitely make reservations in advance as they are booked months in advance.

Most incredible hotel with beautiful surroundings, warm lovely staff, delicious food & fabulous cocktails! Claridge's saved our one night staycation away while visiting our family in the UK. We had a reservation with the Ritz, but upon our arrival were treated appallingly badly so had to cancel our reservation. Luckily, we managed to get a room at Claridges's who were more than happy to accommodate us, provide the most incredible warm, genuine service and literally pulled out all of the stops to make our stay so memorable. Every single staff member at Claridge's goes out of their way to make you feel special and appreciated. They are so warm, genuine and friendly - the complete opposite of the Ritz. Our room was gorgeous, food incredible and service impeccable. I would give this hotel 100 stars if I could & we will definitely be back.

We absolutely loved the service, diverse and high quality tea selection and the quality of both the savory finger sandwiches and the scones and pastriesWhile the price is higher, the quality matches and the pastries felt like individually crafted treasures rather than mass produced confectionsThank you Claridge's for a fantastic experience! Be the first to ReplySay what?!? How can a place like this still exist.
Utterly stunning. This iconic, classic hotel is British refinement to the most perfect degree. First of all it ain't cheap. But, if you got a few pounds it's worth every penny. From the moment you arrive to the second you depart you are treated like royalty. Ultra friendly staff, beautiful rooms that are surprisingly large. And don't forget to indulge in every offer the hotel has. The bars, the restaurants, the lounges, and especially the high tea.

It's good! A great institution among London hotels, this is a very expensive place that feels a tiny bit dated. The service and ambiance are absolutely unparalleled. The dated reference is more in the stuffiness of the decor and the somewhat unhip, borderline annoying clientele.

A great institution among London hotels, this is a very expensive place that feels a tiny bit dated. The service and ambiance is absolutely unparalleled. The dated reference is more in the stuffiness of the decor and the somewhat unhip, borderline annoying clientele. Think Downton Abbey, not James Bond, in terms of decor and modernity. The rooms are beautifully appointed and do have every modern luxury. The staff is oh-so-British, very polite and coolly, elegantly efficient. The general vibe of the place could benefit from a single trendy club or swanky modern bar. While it's been around since 1812, that history can be made glamorous, not stuffy, with the right mix of modern adjustments. You'll notice right away that the guests and high tea visitors take the "ladies who lunch" vibe very, very seriously. Talk above a whisper in an American accent and expect a couple of cold stares LOL. The average age at tea is probably close to 70. These ladies (mostly) clearly take the "preferred hotel of the royals" thing quite seriously. All that said, this is a classy old-school venue, and not a hip South Beach Miami boutique hotel. That's the rub...it could use ever so slightly more hipness to welcome itself into the 21st Century. One step in the right direction is the addition of Dale Chihuly chandeliers to add some exotic modernity to dress up the grand old lady. Put a trendy restaurant and sleek modern club in the hotel, and it'll be well on its way to 5 stars from me.

Simply lovely around the Holiday Season. Timeless design.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful ambience.
I've done gluten-free afternoon tea here many times and it has always been great. Classic ones are much better than the festive menus, imo. Friendly and attentive staff. Definitely my favourite gluten-free scones that I've had alongside the Marco Polo jelly. Sandwiches were delicious as well and you couldn't even tell that they were gluten-free! 10/10
Be the first to ReplyWow is all I can say about this experience! I'm still
Wow is all I can say about this experience! I'm still reeling from this visit and it was only 2 days ago! My mother and I had the Christmas tea at claridges this past Friday afternoon November 15, 2019. This was also our very first trip to England as well. I made this reservation maybe 2-2.5 months ago. I really wanted and tried to get a Saturday reservation for the Christmas tea because on Saturdays they have the children's choir come and sing Christmas carols but unfortunately the Saturday reservations sold out the minute they were available. Word of advice!!! Claridges let's you make reservations 3 months in advance. If you want a reservation for the holiday tea, ESPECIALLY A SATURDAY RESERVATION, book your reservation the minute claridges releases the dates/let's you book reservations! At the end of the day, I'm grateful that I got my Friday reservation because all the reservations sold out pretty quickly for November and December. The experience. Wow is an understatement! We entered into a beautiful winter wonderland! The Christmas decor in the hotel was absolutely beautiful! I put a request in my reservation to have our table be in the main tea parlour room, right by the musicians. I love music! The decorations, ambience in the tea parlour room, the exquisite cello and piano player were absolutely magnificent! I told my mom that we had to pinch ourselves! This was so surreal! We never did high tea before, especially not at claridges. We don't do high tea in Peru or the United States so we're not accustomed to it. The musicians did it for me. I love music and the cello and piano player played some beautiful music that afternoon/night! My mom and I had our breath taken away that night. We didn't eat lunch that day so we were super hungry by the time we arrived. We were seated very promptly and our fantastic waiter arrived shortly thereafter. Our waiter explained everything to us and shortly brought out champagne for us. The tray of sandwiches we received were so delicious! Our waiter saw how quickly we ate the first tray and graciously offered us another tray which we happily accepted and ate! Shortly after he brought out our tea and flaming Christmas pudding! It was like a show and the pudding was something my mom and I tried for the first time and it was so yummy! Then came the scones, jam and tray of desserts. The presentation was awesome but by that time we were full. We ate maybe 2 desserts and took the rest home. Our waiter packed up our desserts in a nice box and gave us departing gifts of puddings. It was my birthday that week and our waiter brought out a sweet birthday dessert for me with the plate saying happy birthday on it and a candle for me. What a sweet treat! Our waiter, the staff, and everyone at claridges were very nice, sweet and attentive. We are so thankful for your kindness and hospitality at your establishment! During our tea at claridges on Friday night I asked my mom, who grew up in a rural farm village in Peru, if she ever pictured herself having high tea in London at claridges. She said no and she couldn't have imagined it. This was such a sweet experience that I got to share with my mom and hope to come back the next time we visit England. To our fantastic waiter and the hospitable staff at claridges, muchas gracias por todo! We will be back! Much love to you all for this amazing experience!
