Amazing service and incredible sushi.
The quality of fish is unmatched in Portland. This is simply the best place for sushi in the entire metro area. The vibe is very comfortable and not too fancy but definitely not the most casual of dives. It's the perfect experience when wanting to treat yourself to a sushi date

Service, food and presentation were top notch. It was a cozy dinner spot on a wet chilly night, loved it. I can't wait to go back.

From the moment we stepped in, this spacious ramen spot delivered an exceptional dining experience. The service was outstanding, with our attentive server going above and beyond to ensure we knew the layout, including restroom and exit locations. Her detailed explanations of the diverse ramen options enhanced our meal. The ramen itself was delicious, perfectly complemented by unique and flavorful tempura vegetables. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for an unforgettable dining experience!

Business travel and found this place! I would recommend the place, the industrial and open kitchen is cool. I had enjoyed my dinner here. The food is great, service very s excellent and the environment very relaxing.
Be the first to ReplyI can't stress enough how much I recommend this restaurant.
My boyfriend and I are new to town and this place is close by to our new apartment. We love sushi and Japanese food in general and are a bit picky on our quality of sushi and ramen. We were blown away by every single thing we tasted here. The interior decor is very industrial meets Japandi and the open kitchen lets you see how every chef and line cook masterfully plates every dish carefully. We especially enjoyed watching the sushi chefs make our nigiri and rolls with so much attention to detail than we are used to seeing. We did an omakase tasting menu on our Valentine's dinner date and just fell in love more and more with Afuri after every bite. My personal favorites- the uni chawanmushi and surprisingly, the sweet cream ice cream with miso caramel and candied hazelnuts are now something I think about regularly and can't wait to come back to order again and again. Not only is the food out of this world but the service was terrific! We loved our servers Anna, Thomas, and one who we didn't get the name of but she was our main server for our omakase night and she was delightful. We will definitely be coming back REGULARLY.
Be the first to ReplyThe food here is incredibly mediocre.
You're paying for the atmosphere, and even that feels pretentious and uninviting. There are far better ramen and sushi places in the area.
Be the first to ReplyReally good and high quality food.
Smaller portions than I would like for the price range but the taste definitely makes up for it. I forgot to take photos of our food because we waited a bit long already and were quite hungry. Friendly service, it was near closing time but they were still busy so there were times that I felt like they forgot about our table. Ambiance is nice, very chill mood lighting, the only thing is, I think some of the tables are way too close to each other. It was hard not to hear the other tables' conversation. Overall would recommend to try at least once or twice if you're in the area, but wouldn't be my go-to sushi spot
Be the first to Replythis place is phenomenal.
The food is fantastic. The staff is lovely and the atmosphere is great. If you want delicious ramen and interesting Japanese food this is the place to go. Only drawback is there is always a long wait to get seated, so plan accordingly.
Be the first to ReplyMan, the food here is great and so was our server, Dasha.
Unfortunately, the hostess, Laura, was really rude to our group to the point where we almost left. She chastised us for checking in on our wait time with an attitude we didn't ask for. Unfortunately, this wasn't our first poor interaction with her. One of the members of our party had visited Afuri last July and remembered the poor interaction with her and, sadly, nothing has changed. It's a more expensive restaurant and has great food, but until something changes up don't we probably won't be back.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful space, very clean and modern.
The ramen is delicious and you have several options to choose from, whether you want shio or shoyu to yuzu or tsukumen. Service is quick during lunch but can be quite busy during dinner, you can get on their waitlist and get texted to come back!
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed my experience at Afuri.
The vibes were very nice you can go either casual or dressy. The service was really good. Parking was easy to find and food came out in a timely manner. I enjoyed the sushi and ramen. Price was in the higher end I paid $52 for my whole meal. Would return!

Amazing service! We got to try some drinks that weren't even on the menu, and I think it may have been the best drink I've ever had. Their ramen is spectacular - you know when you can taste the quality of the noodles? Yeah, well theirs are good. Definitely get the jaga bada-- trust me. You will not regret it!!
Be the first to ReplyThe food took forever; in fact the food still not here.
Not sure that the holdup is, the the service is sub par.
Be the first to ReplyOof. I did not like my experience here & it's a bummer
Oof. I did not like my experience here & it's a bummer because I've been wanting to try this place for ages! It was so difficult to get a server's attention. Whenever they'd drop something at the table, they'd turn and walk off quickly. There were three instances where I had to call after my server because of this and it was just uncomfortable. My boyfriend got his ramen first, but it took 10 minutes for mine to arrive which was just odd given we wanted to eat together. I got the vegan option for ramen and really didn't care for the flavor of the broth. It certainly wasn't special and it was unfortunately the worst veggie ramen I've had in Portland. May have just been an off night but there really wasn't anything I enjoyed and I don't think I can give it another shot.

My family wanted to try this restaurant for dinner so we called to make reservations we were told they don't take any so was a 40 minute wait. I have to say it was worth the wait the food was excellent the staff was too. I would recommend this place anytime I will rate it 5 stars
Be the first to ReplyNot the greatest ramen, but it's good for Portland.
Doesn't get very spicy which can be good for some. At least you don't get explosive diarrhea for their spice. They don't add much meat. Ambiance was great. Servers are great. Just sit at the bar or they say it'll take a few hours to be seated. But I was also told it would be over an hour to be seated on the main floor when it was literally empty. When I left from the bar seating, it still wasn't full. Confused as to how it'll take so long to be seated on the main floor when there was almost no one. I went as soon as they'd opened. I'd go again, after I find out what other Ramens Portland had to offer!

General manager freaking out here, talking to customers really disrespectfully. Stuff was very nice, Food is good

I heard really good things about this restaurant, The general manager refused to get us a table when we had to wait for 2 friends. And a rainy and a very cold day! The restaurant is empty, he mentioned policy that we cannot have a seat before the entire group is at the restaurant, really acceptable, but after deciding not to wait he called us liars, and he asked us to leave the restaurant. I never had such a bad experience like that before! I will never be back here. Worst experience ever!
Be the first to ReplyI just want to start off saying that the service was
I just want to start off saying that the service was wonderful and the waitress was very kind and attentive, the ambiance is beautiful and very zen. I ordered the Ryokan drink, I must say was absolutely delicious! Also got the Tonkatsu tantanmen ramen, the noodles are perfectly done, chewy just the way I like it. The broth is okay I have had better although it was still flavorful. The chasu was thinly sliced and was dry. I would prefer to eat ramen else where. Other then that my husband loved the sushi and the quality of it. So that's a plus! The buta gyoza was very potent, it was good but a different flavor then I'm use to. I'm use to dumplings being very light in taste, this one packs a punch of flavor which isn't bad in some cases, just different. I would go back if it were me and a group of friends, but wouldn't go back to eat regularly.
Be the first to ReplyIf you're looking for a good Ramen, this is the place.
They have a good selection of sake, as well as a small selection of sushi. The food is always good and hot. The staff is always well trained and nice. The only quibble I have is that there is a line often, but it is worth it. The space is nice and can see quite a few people - we've had large groups there before and it worked out great. It is a little noisy in there because of the high ceilings and concrete floors.
Be the first to ReplyI followed some friends to this particular Afuri.
They wanted to go to the other Afuri where they have a soft shell crab bao, but didn't realize this location wasn't it. Despite that, I still thought it was good. I came in with no expectations. Ramen isn't my favorite food (some terrible food poisoning years ago) but I do like yuzu flavored broths. It was GOOD. I especially liked the chashu that came with it. It had a nice char-y taste. The tofu was good too but it was just tofu, and the drinks were good, but it's Portland so maybe that's expected? I wish I had been hungrier cuz I would have loved to get dessert and just try more things in general.
Be the first to ReplyI feel like this location is the best out of their 3
I feel like this location is the best out of their 3 locations in town. ย I really enjoy the ambience and the quality of food here. ย The Yuzu Ratan ramen bowl was excellent. The broth is what really makes this bowl delicious.
Be the first to ReplyAfuri is solid.
Did it blow me away? No. Did I leave satisfied and happy? Yes. In central eastside, the industrial vibes along with high ceilings and big windows add flare and grunge to a modern, Japanese eatery. Service was attentive and friendly, and the wait wasn't too long around 6pm on a Friday evening. I got their Tsukemen - broth-less ramen that's eaten with a dipping sauce, my first time! You can opt to get the noodles cold or warm, I opted for warm per the suggestion of the waitress. I was wary that the noodles would be a giant, gooey lump without the broth, but surprisingly they retained their texture and were cooked perfectly! The noodles were chewy, al dente, and soaked up the dipping sauce well. These noods are a 5/5. The dipping sauce was well seasoned, spicy with a hint of citrus, which balanced the chashu nicely. The rest of the dish I thought was average in terms of flavors and uniqueness. Prices are reasonable and fair with matching service and presentation. Overall, Afuri is a solid contender in the ramen game in Portland. Would I come back? Definitely.
Be the first to ReplyWent here the other night for our date night.
Super excited to try the ramen from all the reviews. ย Fun ambiance, food was high quality, the main ramen dish (first on the menu, can't remember the name of the top of my head ) was good but not quite my favorite flavors, I would have preferred a more traditional ramen for my first try. ย The sushi was high quality ingredient wise which is always appreciated but the rolls we picked were a little on the boring side (probably more authentic than typical American sushi so that's why we weren't blown away by it). My wife really liked the non alcoholic drink we ordered (blackberry /ginger combo of some sort), said they was her favorite part of the meal. ย I liked the ramen best but will have to order a different kind next time.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food! The ramen was phenomenal, the yuzu made it
Fantastic food! The ramen was phenomenal, the yuzu made it so light and refreshing, but yet still a nice filling ramen meal. All the food in the ramen worked together. Now the karshria and Gobo were also cooked so perfectly and marinated super well, the charcoal flavored really followed through. It would have been a five star, but our server, Dan, wasn't on par with the great food. He, overall, just had a bad attitude when we were asking questions about the menu (his favorite ramen, how much in the same flight, etc.). He just wasn't friendly, was rather short and standoffish, and made me feel like we were inconveniencing him.
