Service was fine, nice staff but the food SUCKED! Worst
Service was fine, nice staff but the food SUCKED! Worst meal I've had in a long time. I ordered simple teriyaki chicken. It was dry, almost no sauce and it did not taste like teriyaki sauce at all. The side sauces were gross as was the rice. The stir fry veggies weren't good either. Seriously, we had a party of 9 and everyone thought the food was terrible. My husband had sushi. He vomited when we got home and had a case of the shits as well.

Be the first to ReplyCame here to pickup my to go order.
I hope Mr. Lee sees this because it was very disappointing. I called in my order for two orders of seared nigiri 15 minutes in advance. I came to pick up my order and 9:45. I noticed the box came in a foam box when sushi is supposed to be in a sushi container. Also, I was suspicious when she told me my order was over 50 for nigiri. I see inside it was sashimi. She proceeded to tell me she needed to get a manager. The manager and the host were quite rude. It felt like they were insinuating it was my fault. I asked if they would please take it to the back and fix their mistake and said they were closed along with their kitchen. The manager proceeds to tell me that at least sashimi is more expensive. But why would I pay for something I didn't order. He did not try to correct his mistake at all. I do not understand how you confuse two pieces of seared salmon nigiri for two orders of sashimi.
Be the first to ReplyWe dined at Ah-So Happy Valley on 4/6/2024.
Food was wonderful! Service was fun, attentive, and very professional with "Cole" and "Red" as our servers. We look forward to going back! T&D
Be the first to ReplySushi was pretty good, but there are much better options
Sushi was pretty good, but there are much better options around town. Took quite a while for one of the entrees and kids meal to come out...the rest of us were done eating already. Gyoza was good as was the philly roll. Out of wings, and desserts besides the ice cream and mochi. That was a little disappointing. Shady business practice with the added gratuity. The added tip was folded under the check so you could not see it. Only unfolding the check showed you the gratuity added section. My brother and I both served before and this seemed like she was obviously hiding it to try and get another 20% on top of it.

00. This was so not worth it!! I ordered the steak and shrimp and it was about 5 pieces of steak and they didn't cook it as I ordered it. My partner got very little shrimp and we both left with the worst stomach aches and not feeling well. We will never be back.
Be the first to ReplyI found it to be a fun experience.
The chef was very good at what he did. The waitress who took our order did well to ask and write down our orders. The chef also went over our orders with us before beginning the cooking 'show'. The presentation of the food was good. The food itself was good and portions were reasonable for the price/experience. I would come here again and bring guests for a fun dining experience.

We were one of the last tables for the night and, unfortunately the people sharing our table were not there for the experience and spent time on their phones. So the entertainment value wasn't as high I was hoping for, but was still so fun. The staff was amazing and let myself and my date hangout until close finishing our drinks. I am looking forward to having dinner there again.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible system destroyed what was to be a festive evening!
Horrible system destroyed what was to be a festive evening! This Saturday we took our family here for teppanyaki as my younger grandchildren have really enjoyed it in the past. The problem is they do not take reservations and have no system for notification of when your table is available. We arrived at 5pm and were told there was a 45 minute wait. We decided to wait, sent the kids outside and my son-in-law and I sat at the bar 10 feet from the hostess station. We went over to check in with them for a status several times but when we were still not seated after over an hour and 15 minutes we again checked to see what was going on. We were told they gave our table away to another party and that we would have to wait for the next one. We were finally seated just before 7pm!!! The manager could not comp us anything, he said, and offered us free dessert which we did not want! Obviously they are not ready to run a restaurant in the 21st century and we will never go there again! It is a shame because the food is good but the management and their policies make no sense in todays highly connected world!!

Will never return. Grandma flew in for her Granddaughter's 15th BDay from IL. Asked her where she would like to have a special dinner with family & friends, Granddaughter chose Ah-So. Specifically the Teppanyaki tables, where the chef cooks in front of you. A reservation was made on-line for 6:15p. Upon arrival at the restaurant the hostess advised, we do not honor reservations for the Teppanyaki Tables, just dining room. Why wouldn't the web-site state that you cannot make reservations for the Teppanyaki Tables?!! We did opt to wait for a table because this was the birthday girls requested restaurant and who wants to disappoint a kid on their birthday? Ah-So does! After waiting over an hour to be seated our party of 8 ordered drinks and Grandma explains that it is Granddaughter's birthday. The waitress advised we do not do Birthday Celebrations on Saturday nights at the Teppanyaki Tables, it's too busy. We protested peacefully and she came back with, we can move your party to one of the dining room tables and serve the birthday girl dessert, there. We were not going to traipse across a dining room with 7 in tow, carrying gifts and drinks. Dinner was pretty bland. The salads come with a vinaigrette, not the typical orange ginger dressing, you often see at these types of restaurants. The veggies are cooked in a boat load of what appears to be margarine and the sauces are boring. I approached the Manager to beg to allow a quick bday celebration for the teen at our table. I noticed there were no diners waiting to be seated. I tried to explain that the restaurant was the bday girls choice, Grandma came from out of state, had we known there would be a problem with celebrating at our table, we would have made other arrangements. He refused. After spending $500 on dinner and drinks we left unsatisfied and highly disappointed. Beware.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a very disappointing visit.
We made a reservation online for my daughter's birthday dinner for 8 people only to get to the restaurant to be told that they don't take reservations for the hibachi tables. Fine. We waited over an hour for a table. We sat down and told the waitress it was our daughter's birthday. She said they're not celebrating birthdays tonight because it's "too busy". Kind of funny since the lady at the next table had a birthday cake. The waitress took our order never to be seen again but automatically added a $63 tip to the bill. We were rushed and the food was mediocre. For $450 they could've at least sung happy birthday to my daughter. Take your business elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyI went there for a celebration, and by far, the worst
I went there for a celebration, and by far, the worst service I have ever experienced. I had a 6 pm reservation and a big table, and other big parties were served and paid that came in after us, and at 8 pm, we still had no food on the table. The manager kept saying, 5 min or 10 min, and still no food. Pack your patience and your own food if you want to come here.
Be the first to Replymy family has been here many times and theres never been
my family has been here many times and theres never been problems like this, but my sisters birthday dinner was ruined due to terrible coordination between hostesses. we had to wait over 2 hrs, continuously checking in so they knew we were still there, never being sat after so many groups walked in and were sat immediately. our group asked what was going on and a manager talked to us but just made excuses saying the hostesses are high schoolers (they should definitely be trained better dumbass) and we are supposed to stay near the front area (we were at the tables by the bar, right behind the host stand because the front was so crowded and it's such a long wait, which had never been an issue regarding seating before). then, after we'd been waiting almost 2 and a half hours (arrived at 6:45 its now 9) we finally get to sit and of course some of us are still upset talking to the manager and he threatens to make us leave if we don't calm down, after over 2 HOURS OF WAITING. it is ridiculous to try to make us leave after such a long wait and us trying to be understanding, but of course the manager decides to cut someone off so we are just completely over it and decide theres no point and leave. overall terrible customer service, awful communication with customers as well as other staff, and poor de-escalation of a salvageable situation by only doing and saying things that would be further upsetting, instead of doing their jobs or trying to fix anything. the manager clearly had no idea what he was doing or how to run the restaurant not train his employees properly, do not go to this place if there is any chance they might be busy, or you'll wait all night and not even get dinner! wish there was a corporate number we could call and ask or tell about the issue because the whole night was ruined and several other customers agreed they took forever and were terrible at their jobs as hosts. dont bother going, they'll ruin your birthday.
Be the first to ReplyWorst place ever with even worse service.
Unfortunately, Ahso has really gone downhill. This was my families favorite place to dine. At one point I would dine multiple times a week here. They have no clue what they are doing anymore. My wife made reservations for 6:45 for my kids birthday. When we arrived they informed us that reservations were for dining room only which bummed my kid out as they enjoy the teppanyaki table/show. Doesn't state that anywhere but why list that or tell a customer that as that would only make sense. So we said ok that's fine and as the hostess took us to our seats there were no tables open so we are walked back to the front and now told we would have to wait. At that point since we had to wait for a dining room table we just decided to wait for a teppanyaki table. The place was full so we waited at a table directly behind the hostess. After about an hour my wife went up to ask if they had any idea how much longer and was told we were next. After some more time my wife went up again and they said the table was being cleaned off. More time goes by and now I'm seeing people just walk in getting seated. We go up again and the manager is there and my wife asks again and now the manager looks at the list and they have now seated about 15 groups that came after us. the manager proceeds to say they called us and we never went up which was not true. the manager continues to blame us and states we should have stood for 2 hours where there was no room in front of the hostess stand. Now we are frustrated hungry and upset and what made it worse the "manager" simply had no customer service skills and acted as if he could care less. another group same time had the same issue. this gentlemen told the manager 3 times to mark on the list that he is at the bar to notify the hostess to look there. the manager just stood there and the guy basically had to write it himself. then we are threatened that he wont seat us however he does. After hours of waiting we finally get seated. We place our order immediately as we are all hungry. At this time we were unaware he was the manager so my wife asked to speak with a manager and low and behold same guy who didn't do his job earlier comes over. as we are complaining how this was unacceptable another family at a table next to us jumped in and again they had the same issue. no room inside so they stood outside. They skipped his family as the hostess made no attempt. Again the manager blames him as well stating he should have been inside. again no room and multiple families had to wait outside. Now the manager is frustrated that now 3 separate parties are complaining so he refuses to serve us which was fine as we had a great dinner next door. Ahso you need to do better. A business that continues to run like this is a business that will no longer be in business. I'm not one to believe the customer is always right but when your process is clearly broken and proven multiple times and for your management to continue to blame its customers is flat out wrong. Like I said we have always loved the food here but due to the lack of management skills and service we will be dining elsewhere as the area is growing and there a-lot of other great restaurants that provide great food, a great atmosphere, and great service.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time ever coming here.
Was excited to try it. If you want really good sushi, this is the place. Nothing else is worth the price. Paid $15 for chicken strips that took forever to get and looked like they came from across the street at Red Robin. Super disappointed. My daughters steak was great, my husbands steak and shrimp were severely over cooked. Just not a consistent experience. Didn't get refills until we were ready to leave. Pretty positive we won't be back. There are better places for sushi.
Be the first to ReplyWe have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the table.
But we are not thrilled about the 18% gratuity added to the bill. The point to tipping is for the service provided by the server and there's not much of that (except drinks, salad & soup) when your food is cooked in front of you and put on your plate by the cook. And there's an expected tip for the cook. Not to incline to dine here much in the future.
Be the first to ReplyProblem getting food served.
One entree came the second never arrived, had to finally get it to go. Told second entree went to wrong kitchen?? Food we did receive was very good.
Be the first to ReplyNone of the staff bothered to even smile.
We received poor service and made to feel like an inconvenience. We will never return.
Be the first to ReplyThis place needs to learn customer service.
We spend at least $600 a month here and we tip very well. Many times they included tip on our bill and never told us. So I double tipped. I even let that go and still went here. Today was different. I walked in to set a reservation and they said our table will be ready in 30 mins. I went to get the family and they called us when we were trying to find a parking spot. I told them we will be in there in less then 5 mins. And they gave the table away for teppanyaki . My wife even ran inside and they said since all of us weren't in there they gave our table away. It's fine. We won't go there any more . Every time we ate here we spent at least $250. It's very over priced for tons of butter. They will still be in business but your customer service is horrible. Go to Texas Roadhouse instead. They have amazing service and you get a lot more food.
Be the first to ReplyNever have enough workers/you can tell how understaffed
Never have enough workers/you can tell how understaffed they are, always a long wait time, never get my order correct. I don't recommend. No ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite places for a work related lunch.
Great teppanyaki grill service. I usually get the teriyaki chicken and miso soup; absolutely delicious. The staff is always amazing, from the hostess to the cook. It's always a pleasant experience. The ambiance is very nice. Dimmed lights and stress free environment. If you are looking to disconnect during your work lunch time and enjoy a good meal, this is the place.
Be the first to ReplyWOW!!!! It was my first time going Saturday night with some
WOW!!!! It was my first time going Saturday night with some friends and all we can say is we are absolutely satisfied with the service 10 /10 but the food it was just absolutely AMAZING !! We highly recommend the Japanese wings with the sweet and spicy sauce you won't ever regret it! Also hands down for Chef Gabriel. We will definitely be going back such an amazing place food and drinks 10/10
Be the first to ReplyThe serving sizes were fairly nice.
Two rolls (fresh salmon & rainbow roll) plus a shared calamari appetizer we're enough to get me full. We were seated fairly quick, and our service with John was very polite. The taste of the rolls were inline with the prices. Not expensive yet not cheap. As it's nothing close to a Nobu I can't justify a 5 star. Also one major issue for me was with the way the sushi is prepared and served to you l. It's given suck on the plate, so some of the rolls would break apart as you're trying to pry it off of the plate. Aside from that it's a fairly decent place.
Be the first to ReplyFriday night, I took my wife to the Norterra (Happy Valley
Friday night, I took my wife to the Norterra (Happy Valley Road) Ah-So as part of a weekend-long Anniversary celebration. Just finishing the events today (Sunday). A series of fairly low-impact nights-on-the-town. It was our first time at Ah-So. I enjoy seafood, my wife likes anything but seafood. The Ah-So decor was nicely simple, in a Japanese sort of way. The clientele appeared to be middle-America. The sound level was a little on the noisy side but tolerable. Much of the noise came from the party atmosphere of the four Teppanyaki grills in the back staffed with skilled Warrior Chefs. The hostess, waiter, and others were friendly enough. We were intending on doing the Teppanyaki grill experience but the wait was a little too long for our schedule. So we took a table relatively close to the Teppanyaki grills and ordered off the menu which had a wide range of choices from noodles to veggies, to seafood, lobster and steak in various combinations. We watched as several large bottles of Kirian beers were distributed to several tables.Drinks and appetizers were quickly served as we listened to the commotion at the grills. The chefs were dazzling the patrons with the usual tappety-tapping of steel utensils over the grills, the occasional intense fire-ball (greeted with loud "WooHooos"), onion volcanos, and flipping individual nuggets of food at patrons, some of which were very good at catching the morsels in their mouths (to loud applause). We felt the heat from thirty feet way. I'm guessing those around the grill risk singing some eyebrows. The drinks arrived. I had iced tea (designated driver), and my wife had a pretty good merlot, a little light on the pour. Our appetizers arrived -- chicken lettuce wraps, a small bowl of egg-drop soup, and a small, simple salad. The salad was good. The egg-drop soup overly salty, but still good, and the chicken for the lettuce wraps... oddly seasoned. The lettuce supply was ample.A few Teppanyaki screams and yahoos later, and we were onto the main course.I had a combination of shrimp and calamari with veggies. My wife had a noodle dish with veggies and chicken. Our entrees shared two common traits. The meats were over-cooked. The chicken was, of course, on the dry side. The shrimp was tough -- but I was so hungry, it didn't matter as much. The calamari (big, chunk style) was moderately over-cooked. A lot of bad can be covered up with a decent sauce and seasoning. However, there was not enough sauce to satisfy, and the seasoning was a little bland. Our take-away was that we would have gotten a tastier, more enjoyable meal at the nearby Panda Express across the street. You read that right. Sure, the Panda lacks the ambience and skill of Ah-So's Grill Ninjas, and no lobster or anything steak-like, but it wouldn't have cost $100 (including tip).My daughter later advised us, "You should have done Teppanyaki. The food is much better there."
Be the first to ReplyPretty good lunch and not a bad price.
Typical hibachi grill where some teenagers seat and serve you, then a stellar grill master comes out with the flare and jokes. I had the filet, it was cooked about medium when I asked for mid rare, other that that everything tasted wonderful!
