Free spirit and flawless quality
Perfect atmosphere, cozy, food is tasty. Only small issues with service, some wine pairings were late, but it haven’t changed experience of the dinner. Bread serving something to remember, also liked scallop and young peas. Strongly recommend!

Service was very good, atmosphere very good. Only two red wine selections. The pour was surprisingly very small, like a tasting, not an actual glass. Music was too loud. Both hurt the value of the experience. Ten to twelve courses depending on how you count dessert.

Delicious food and wine, great service, and also great music! We went with half the wine-pairing since fine dining gets you drunk as hell when pairing wine to more than a dusin dishes. This is in my opinion a must-visit if you are into food and in copenhagen.

Literally stumbled upon this restaurant during a visit to the island it sits upon. We went for the 5-course lunchtime tasting menu with wine pairings and all courses were sublime. Vegetables and herbs are sourced from their local allotment and fish used are sustainable. The decor was lovely, we enjoyed the music and all the service was welcoming and helpful. We expressed an interest in taking photos of the wine and they trustfully left the bottles in our care. Most of the people present were younger or attending with younger relatives.
Be the first to ReplyAwful meal, awful ambiance
Things started of badly and got worse! We were shown to table were half of us were blinded by the sun. When we mentioned this to the staff their response was “yeah, this always happens” which begs the question why they haven’t invested in blinds or altered the table lay out to prevent this . The service from staff was slap dash. No explanation of the menu, wine list had to be asked for 3 times. Lack of knowledge about the food and wine was apparent with staff repeating explanations parrot fashion. The kitchen staff had long hair hanging lose while preparing food. Eating and drinking from staff in the kitchen was happening all evening. Food was below average, repetitive using the same herbs over and over again. Some of our group described the food as disgusting. Wine pairing was the worse I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Literally 3rd world wines. Whole evening was a total waste of money and at £200+ per head a very expensive one!

Amass - Køpenhavn- May 2022 It’s a restraurant created by Tom Orlando who has worked at Per Se (NYC), The Fat Duck (UK) and as executive chef (nr2) at Noma before opening Amass in an old industrial building not far from the former Noma “1” location. On arrival you’re supposed to go up some concrete stairs to the first floor to then be taken downstairs to the… ground floor. I would have hated that but I had had exchanges with them prior to coming and they had told me I could go through the kitchen (downstairs) straight into the dining room. It’s also possible to go around the building through the left and enter through the back. Anyway, the other three had to go through the up and down, which they were not so happy about. It’s rather silly. Anyway once inside, I was glad to see they had taken my format into account with a suite confortable and armless office chair. The menu is of course unique for everybody and consists of 12 courses (including chips, bread, and cookies, so really 9 courses, but some are double servings around the same product, so well…) but it didn’t seem “so expensive” as the menu PLUS the entire drink pairing, aperitif, water and coffee was 295€ per person. So for this price, was it good, yes. All of it was nice, tasty and pleasant. But was it innovative, at some moments unique and globally interesting ? Well, in the greatest part, NO. What was real good ? A lovely steam-cooked bun with langoustines inside, a lovely crumble including caviar and nuts and a piece of very lovely half-cooked lieu noir fish under a green glazing. That was real GOOD. The rest, including some kind or potatoe kroepoek, a potatoe bread and green garlic butter, a broth made of fish bones and herbs, a nice scallop (half of one actually) and the “fake chocolat” cookies were OK. The broth with sea shells and veggies, the fried “sausage” of lower fish parts and the desserts were just banal. So we’re some of the wines. After a nice green wine to start (apparently unfiltered and natural), the rest of the pairing was classical, from burgundy to riesling and an Italian rosé. And weirdly a dry schnaps added at the end. The funny part is that come and give you a whole lecture about “how to make chocolate with local grains to avoid importing cocoa” and then serve you… coffee. 🤷🏼 ♂️ But, ok, it’s a start. ♻️ 🌍 So would I return ? Maybe. I am not sure. But given the distance, I guess not. It’s one green star, no regular stars, and maybe it could get one if the entire dinner gets a notch up. But I’m unsure about it. #Industrial #Loft #Natural #Locavore #Modern ♻️😋🍷

I wasn't sure what to expect. Amass only offers tasting menus, but it also values a waste-free culture. So would it be relaxed fine dining or one of those places where deliciousness is sacrificed on the altar of pursuing other goals? The pleasing answer we found was that the no-waste philosophy and delicious food can certainly go hand in hand. We had a great meal, inventive and technically flawless. I particularly enjoyed the scallop dish, the celeriac tart with cured duck breast and the pollock. The room is big, so there are no issues with table spacing. I can live with bare concrete walls and graffiti, so I did not mind the decor. The staff were friendly and we couldn't complain about the quality of service. Definitely worth a try.
Be the first to ReplyDark out dinner
We went for the dark out dinner. Perhaps that was a mistake. Most of the food was cold seafood dishes but based on the description of the evening I had expected more food prepared on BBQ. So the over all ompression was "was that it?" I most say though it was quite nice with all the candles...but a lot of money to pay for candles. Service was fine and it was a nice touch that we got the one bbq thing in the kitchen.

Still the best. I was seven years ago in Copenhagen, and Asmas was my best experience.hope to come there soon. I had my first orange wine here, it was extraordinary, since then I’ve tasted a lot of orange wines, but not at all each one is good
Be the first to ReplyMy last time at Amass…
I’ve visited Amass some 7-8 times and I’ve always left on a positive note, but this time.
- very messy (but kind) service
- 50 % of the dishes was either missing flavor or they where over seasoned / over salted
- wines was served at the wrong temperature (warm white wine isn’t that delicious)
- several dishes was served before the prior served dish was cleared from the table
This all left me with a feeling Amass being a restaurant that’s going in a wrong direction…
Delicious, unexpected dishes in a cool setting
What’s there to say? I’m no food critic. It was delicious. The courses were innovative. The staff was helpful and welcoming. The space is cool and so is the surrounding area. If you love good food and don’t mind the expense, please eat here.
Be the first to ReplyGood, but overpriced fried chicken with limited side dish options
Having read about AFC for some time, we were looking forward to try this high-end fried chicken, but I have to say that it was an overall disappointing experience. We’re a family of five and ordered 4x fried chicked and a side dish named ‘cabbage ceasars’ salad plus some dipping sauces. Total price was more DKK 600. Chicken was delived in 2 half filled buckets and was this was not anywhere close to enough food. Quality of the chicken itself and the ranch sauce was excellent, but the cabbage salad was boring and we were missing some good options in terms of ‘sides’. Fries for instance are not available on the menu. Seems like AFC need to rethink their concept. Chicken serving size could be ok, but then it needs to be accompanied by some sort of side. Otherwise the price simply cannot be justified!

Believe me the title exemplifies the experience. Tremendous to say the least. How do they think of the combinations is beyond me. You need a dictionary to figure out what your eating. Of course portions are not generous but when did one eat a lot in a Michelin restaurant. The restaurants decor is amazing and so is the service. Drawback I’d say is the wine list. I will return.
Be the first to ReplyExceptionally excellent
I have had the chance to eat in many gourmet restaurants, 1,2 or 3 Michelin stars, mainly in France. I can't compare my experience at Amass to classic restaurants, because it's another world. Amass and his chef have created something new, modern, a raw industrial setting where you can enjoy incredible cuisine, fresh, simple in appearance but so complex. If I add the relaxed service, the view of the kitchen, I think I can say that Amass has become my number 1 restaurant, me and my wife loved this time spent with the team of Matt Orlando, I could not ask for better for my birthday.
Yes the wines are different from the wine you will find in a French restaurant
Yes the service is more friendly than in the classical French restaurant
Yes the place is a raw industrial building
Yes the restaurant is located far away from Copenhague downtown in a desert industrial area.
But at the end, this is exactly what I would like to find in this restaurant, a disruptive place with disruptive food, very good food, exceptional food.
I hope to have the chance to come again !

The lobster was easily the best thing I've ever eaten.
An amazing meal, staff, service and chefs the only thing I was sad about was the final dessert the apple one before it was an absolute show stopper.
5* everyone easily 1 michelin star

Good food but bad wall art
Pretty impressive menu - most of dishes were surprising, creative and delicious - the service was also great but a
little bit impersonal - would love a bit more banter and chat. The onle thing i really hated though was the wall art - insultingly wothout tase, and not fittong to the overall feeling and class of the restaurat. Otherwise a cool, enriching and exciting experience.
