ASK FOR TACO TO BE YOUR SERVER! We had the prefix menu and were blown away. Each item had a layer of nostalgia that took us back to a time and place. 10/10 would recommend.

I feel like for an upscale restaurant I didn't get the experience that you get at other upscale restaurants in Austin. The menu had weird choices that didn't go together. I would skip this place

We came here for Valentine's Day and did the Yurt experience and honestly it left a lot to desire. The food was salty, the service was slow, there was no music or ambiance when you sat outside in the yurt. I generally trust online reviews but I'm not sure what happened here. We did the tasting menu and not only was it not great it was EXPENSIVE $900 for four people in austin with no alcohol is INSANE. We had a rabbit croquet dish that still had bones in it? The bison dish was overcooked. Surprisingly the best parts were the off menu items. I wouldn't come back. It is too expensive for what you get.

I'm very happy we decided to try this place out after a movie! I called the restaurant and was able to get a seat at 8:45 pm on a Saturday evening. Our server was nice, but I'd say the overall staff are a little stiff. The hostess wasn't super friendly or inviting, but they weren't rude. I did have to ask for water multiple times although it wasn't like I was ignored and the waitress never asked if we wanted another drink. I love the vibe of the restaurant. Dark, moody, intimate, and the decor were simple and modern. Great for a date or small group dinner. The food was on point! The burrata was delish with all the components with the bread. The pasta was also perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Would have liked it if it came out with the burrata so we could dip the bread in the sauce or had it with the steak. The steak was also perfectly tender, well seasoned, and at the right medium rare. All the sides that came with it were also great. If the ribeye had a little more fat trimmed off, that would have been preferred as we don't like fatty pieces of meat, but the pieces with small bits of fat on the end tasted great. Now, the dessert was likely the cherry on top of the whole meal. I love desserts where multiple flavors are put together and all of those flavors combine on top of a spoon and just sing together. It was amazing. The perfect amount of sweet and savory and just enough. I could have eaten a whole other plate of the mousse with the fruit and jelly alone. Overall, I had a great time. Bill was as expected, given we each had a drink as well. Looking forward to going back again some time soon.
Be the first to ReplyEverything about this place is great.
Beautiful atmosphere and decor, great service, and amazing food. Their pork chop was delicious but their halibut and beurre blanc sauce is to die for (and is unfortunately only seasonal). We actually didn't love the crispy rice (which was recommended) but will still be back to try more dishes!

It's been a while since I've been back for Arlo Grey's dinner service. I can say confidently nothing has changed. The service, ambiance and food are still top quality. I started my night with a garden margarita. The best way to explain, it tasted like a green juice water with a spicy kick. It's very refreshing. None of the proteins caught my attention so we ended up ordering the special tuna crudo, the burrata, the crispy rice, bucatini and my favorite the malfadini. For a "bite" portion the tuna crudo came with 3 large pieces of tuna and was a great bite. The burrata was fantastic chargrilled sourdough toast with this delicious cold burrata and mushroom spread! Out of the 3 grains the bucatini was my least favorite. The crispy rice was good. I wish it had more crab and bacon. However the Malfadini was still the same form when I first had it on opening weekend. Buttery cheesy in a delicious mushroom sauce. The pasta is delicious. Arlo grey is a greta spot for group dinners or an intimate date night! Also it's really cool to chef Kristen in the back cooking and bringing food to her tables!

Great yurt experience if you don't let the bitchy hostess ruin your evening. The vegetarian option was phenomenal. The dessert was not great. Service was amazing. Again the hostess was a complete hag!

We decided to stay at the hotel so we could try to make reservations at this restaurant. Thankfully they had some availability. The restaurant is bright, clean and a lot of open windows with nice views of the river. Their drinks are smooth and balanced. The plates are definitely shareable and once you pick a few your server will let you know how the courses will come out. We were both really impressed by the entire staff and how they were not only warm and friendly but explained the flavors of each dish really well. The crispy rice is a must ! I read in an article that Kristen knows how to cook with mushrooms well and it's true because I loved them in the Fried buns.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food, service, with a view of lady bird lake.
They have an outdoor pool next door that hosts events and p9 rooftop bar is also connected.

I've been here a few times over the years, and I'm glad I revisited again. The must get dish is the Fried Steamed Buns with charred eggplant! It was so delicious that we ordered another one. The steamed buns did all the heavy lifting because they tasted like they were seared, and it's not your regular kind of dough. You'll see. We also had the Burrata, Crispy Rice, Confit Duck & Dumplings, Steamed Swordfish, and Honey Roasted Half Chicken. The Confit Duck & Dumplings is essentially gnocchi, but we were expecting the traditional Asian dumplings stuffed with duck meat, so that was the most disappointing dish. Crispy Rice was simply crusty rice over vegetables. A bit blend. The Burrata was pretty much industry standard, and the Swordfish and Chicken were both just okay. I'm giving it a 4 star because the ambiance is great plus comfortable booth seats (Always a plus in my books!). For some reason, we had to ask for water refills multiple times with our server. He was not very attentive. Everyone enjoyed their drinks: The Den, Old Fashioned, Tea Thyme, and Manhattan. For dessert, we had Toasted Sourdough Ice Cream and (I think) Cinnamon Butter Cake. They were both really delicious, but we were too stuffed from the Fried Steamed Buns, we couldn't finish. Plus it was on the house since it was a birthday celebration dinner.

After 11 years in the Austin area, this was our favorite meal yet. We enjoyed everything we ate tonight. The ambience was perfect; not too loud and very comfortable with a view of the Colorado river. My wife and I tried not to eat too much, but everything was so good, it was hard to resist. We got the crispy rice, fried steamed buns, and homemade fusilli to start and the pork chop and ribeye as our proteins. As a note, that was way too much food. Our waiter, John, tried to warn us but we wanted to try those so we left the order as planned (should make yummy leftovers, if nothing else). We really have not a single recommendation. Everyone was great. John did a phenomenal job and we will definitely return.

Food is amazing! Came here for my birthday and absolutely loved every meal I was served. Did the crudo for an appetizer, the crispy rice for one entree and the chicken schnitzel as another entree as I was sharing everything with my husband. Service was good and my spicy margarita was good too. Definitely a great date night or any special celebration for dinner.

What an amazing dinner and Birthday experience we had for my wife @arlogreyaustin. @kristenlkish , Nadia and Arlo Grey team, Thank you! You made her birthday and our trip to Austin so very special! We made the trip from Fort Worth to Austin to eat at Arlo Grey and we were not disappointed! The space was so inviting and I'm a big fan of all the amazing plants! The menu had a wide variety of options, something for everyone. Every dish came with just a slight twist on what you would normally expect. The Tuna Crudo was absolutely outstanding and delicate. Because of the burrata with sourdough toast, I will be serving pears in some form with my Burrata in the future because of how they complimented each other so well. I will probably have to wood smoke my sourdough too, because that added a layer of complexity that should not be missed in the menu. The House made Fusilli pasta with Confit was the adult version of Mac n Cheese after it has gone to college and gets a graduate degree! The Wagyu steak, with Frits and greens was the star of the protein show! The finest cut and preparation of meat I have ever experienced. The Fried Steamed Buns were an experience all on their own. Lightly sweet, but giving you that crispy texture of a funnel cake, trust me, outstanding! The cocktails were very exciting and so much fun to try. I was a huge fan of the Honeymooners and First Light! The whole team at Arlo Grey helped with the service and Nadia was friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to come back to see the team again and try some of the other items!
Be the first to ReplyOh my gosh, where do I start.
This place is all around amazing. The service was spectacular. Our waiter was the best in town but the ambience was as great as the service not only is it very fancy but also, it's not going to scare you. They make you feel comfortable in a fancy place which is not something you see every day. The chef is the most important part of the restaurant Kristen Kish not only is a top chef winner, but also a iron chef. The food definitely shows that. Kristen is an absolute rockstar Chef icon if you wanted amazing experience for dinner then go to this restaurant Kristen I love you and you rock, I said hi and she came over to me and made me feel like we were best friends! I will be back soon hungry for more!

Getting into the Valet Parking in front of the Hotel is a little tricky with the crossing traffic during rush hour. The service is $10 for the first 3 hrs then it shoots upwards from there. The Restoraunt had a moody romantic atmosphere and was fairly populated. Seems like everyone is talking about Kristen Kish from some food show or another, but we're here and we're excited. My wife and I waited for our table to be ready, so we sat at the bar. We spoke a little with the bartender, Steph, whom also works in the back with food prep. She suggested a few dishes, though one stood out to me when she said "crispy-fried buns with a broccoli soufflé dip" and already knew I had to try this while we were here. She says, that she helps prepare the dough for this dish and is one of her favorites here. Our table was soon ready and we migrated over. Service and quality of food here is top notch AMAZING! I can already say #itwasgood even before I finish this post. Our waitress, McKayla was awesome! She knew the brand and what they were serving! She hooked us up with the best suggestions and top quality options. If you're dining here I hope you get her section! We ordered several items on the menu, starting our three course meal with the Garden section. There were only a few options, but we chose to go with a Butternut Squash and an order of the Tuna Crudo. The Butternut Squash was a very refreshing taste and texture. Using the whipped goat cheese and buckwheat crunch combined with the soft pillow like squash, it rang new joy to my pallet. I was amazed by the simplicity of its complex. The Tuna Curdo was on another level. The tuna was really fresh, they must have just gotten them in. The crispy shallots complemented the fresh tuna and kept me asking for more. It was just so good you wanted to keep the flavor and texture going. At this point, I couldn't decide if I wanted a Red or a White as I didn't know what protein I'd finish off with, so I went with a Rosé. I asked McKayla which she'd recommend, and gave me a few options. Lady A seemed to be perfectly crisp, smooth and refreshing. It probably now one of my favorites since I visited Arlo Grey.We continued and ordered our second dish. My wife got the Crispy Rice and I selected the Fried Steamed Buns. Crispy Rice was one of those dishes you want to mix before you eat. This was a very flavorful dish, kicking in the crab, aioli, bacon and cucumber with the refreshing crunch of rice cakes was interesting. It's a definite recommendation if you're not sure what to order (keep in mind dishes are seasonal here and may completely vanish). The Fried Steamed Buns was heavenly. Just as I had imagined it to be when Steph described it to me at the bar. I think this had a touch of home when I broke the bun in half and scooped a broccoli on top. It hit the nail for #1 comfort food in fine dining for my taste buds.Ok so our third course was the 17ox Peeler Ranch Wagyu Ribeye, I can say this was perfectly done medium rare. The cut spoke for itself and was as delicious as it sounds. We finished our meal with the most AMAZING DESERT EVER! Though the name doesn't make it seem that way (lol). Matcha & Pistachio Ice Cream was soooooooo good! Only Kristen Kiss knew the thin toasted meringue wafers and chantilly cream would pair this nicely with Matcha & Pistachio Ice Cream!!! GOLD STARS!!! (we came back just for this...lol...and maybe $20 off bottled wine on Sunday).BRAVO!!! I look forward to my next visit.
Be the first to ReplyReally disappointed by this restaurant.
In short, the service was quite poor. We were abandoned so often and couldn't even get water for the table. While others had carafes, we couldn't get a refill on the water. However, they have no problem charging $100 for a single mediocre steak dish.
Be the first to ReplyI had been wanting to try this place for some time as I am
I had been wanting to try this place for some time as I am a big fan of Chef Kristen and it did not disappoint! First off, our server Brand was excellent! They were personable, had great recommendations, and made our experience great. The cocktails were so tasty and well balanced. We recommend the Den and the Sundown Cobbler. We had the grilled sourdough to start and the flavor and char on the bread along with the acidity, saltiness, creaminess of the olive feta topping was perfection! Next, we had the malfadini recommended by the server and I could eat it over and over again. As a person that doesn't love the textures of mushrooms, the texture they were able to get was amazing. We also had the chicken schnitzel which could feed a crowd. It really is half a chicken so just be aware that it is a lot of food. I loved the decor and the writing on the inside of the bathroom which the server told me the story behind and made it that much more interesting. Loved it! A great date night experience especially with the view facing the lake.

Not once, but twice! Yes, on a mini getaway trip I made reservations for Friday night AND Sunday night for their $20 off bottles! AG exceeded my expectations, from staff to food, everything and everyone was phenomenal!!! So many favorite, from the unique, cozy ambience, to the service, and the food, where do I begin? I'm not gonna lie, I REALLY wanted a selfie with Chef Kristin, but I knew it was very slim. Can I just brag on our server, McKayla though??? She was amazing, juggling literally nine tables in her section that night and still managed to make it feel like we were her only table! She provided great recommendations, super friendly, and made sure we got five star service! The food is definitely shareable - with first timers the servers recommend ordering two dishes per person, and definitely get a/some or all the desserts!! You can tell that Arlo Grey staff believe in taking care of the customers no matter what! We ordered:-tuna crudo : super fresh, perfect crunch and all around great starter -butternut squash : wasn't a fan, a bit sour and weird taste...not my personal favorite, but my hubs seemed to like it -fried steamed buns : crispy bottom and really fresh ingredients-crispy rice : one of my faves of the night! Of course I removed the cilantro, but this has crab and crispy rice and just loved the crunch in each bite! Crab was slightly fishy, but nothing a squeeze of lemon and hot sauce that can't coat it ;) -17 oz Peeler Ranch Wagyu Ribeye : perfectly cooked medium and crispy potatoes! -Matcha + Pistachio Ice cream cake : this was the star of the evening, stole the show, we ordered it twice! Topped with black cherries and berry chantilly cream, you can't go wrong! I highly recommend trying this before they change their menu! Sunday night:-tuna crudo, fried steamed buns, AG grilled sourdough, and the dessert...I normally don't like olives but the crushed olives with the sourdough bread was amazing! The bread is so soft and crispy edges, it was the perfect pairing. We also ordered Lady A, Hey Seoul Sister, and a bottle of Jeane Baptiste sparkling rose Brut, among a few others! Hands down sundown cobbler cocktail is my favorite of the cocktails! Quick tips: Try to have your whole party there, so they seat youValet parking can be validated at the hostess stand for $10...Ask for McKayla! She's amazing!! Arlo Grey offers a wonderful intimate fine dining option inside a Yurt located poolside but this is only available from December-February. Highly recommend for a romantic dinner!!

We went to one of their winter/valentine outdoor yurts for a special late Valentine's Day/anniversary dinner.I'm going to break my review down into categories:1. Vibe/ambiance - the yurt was amazing! They have about 7 of them popped up outdoors surrounding their pool. The yurts themselves were decorated meticulously and they included cute little faux fireplaces/heaters. Very private and romantic. Ours was a little cold at first but as soon as we shut the door flaps it warmed up. The lazy Susan on top of the table also made for fun service. 5/52. Menu/food- this is where it gets a bit trickier. The menu was a prix fix for 4 courses. The offerings were fairly standard - nothing cutting edge (bread and dip, mac and cheese, tenderloin). For creativity maybe a 3/5 for menu items including speciality cocktails. Just average. The portion sizes were HUGE. Our two person portions easily could have served 3. Portions 5/5. Taste - we enjoyed everything, but again, it wasn't mind-blowing. I doubt we will remember it as a delicious meal so 2/5. The waygu and roasted potatoes was by far the best. The pork was cold but tasty (if it was meant to be hot it probably would have been my favorite). The dessert, a take on banana pudding was OK - a bit too sweet and you can get better at the local bbq places. All the dishes came to us barely warm/cold. Probably one of the biggest busts about transporting food from the inside kitchen to these outdoor spaces especially on cold nights (it was 50 when we went - so a cold night for austin).3. Service - service was excellent. The hostess was very friendly and greeted us with "happy anniversary" from our reservation notes. Our food and drinks came quickly between each course. Our server was attentive and friendly but also gave us time/space to eat and enjoy our courses in private. The lazy Susan again made for a fun and slightly interactive way to get each course. 5/54. Price/value- the meal was $125/pp not including drinks and gratuity. Gratuity was set/included at 19% on the bill (so unless the service was spectacular you shouldn't feel the need to add more on top). Drinks were $15/cocktail (fairly standard price but again, nothing outstanding flavor wise). We asked for a chocolate martini with dessert and they didn't have the ingredients for one so that was disappointing. Overall, the meal for 2 with us having drinks was a $350 evening. Again, this is fairly expected for a nice meal in austin but was it worth it, maybe? Value for money 3/5Overall - you're paying for the yurt. And is that worth the money- I think so. It's an adorable way to have a meal with a small group or a date. The food might be better inside at the restaurant because hopefully it's be served hot but I was admittedly VERY disappointed with the food (I had hyped up the chef a lot to my hubs). I expected more from the chef and was sadly disappointed that it just was not very creative or good. It's a fun way to dine but it's costs a lot and the food is just OK
Be the first to ReplyService was terrible.
We had a new waiter every time we ordered food. The place wasn't even busy. The food was mid. Not impressed Kristen.

Have been wanting to try this new restaurant by top chef Kristen Kish. Am a huge fan but highly disappointed in the swordfish dish..was overly salted. Felt bad for sending it back but our server took a round of drinks off the tab so that was nice! They brought back another new plate but I had no silverware to eat with so I used my partners after sitting for about 5 minutes trying to flag a waiter down. Service was mediocre...staff needs training big time. The water pourer sure had alot of attitude..you can just sense it when he / she? brought out my replacement plate. The burger was good but again too salty and nothing to scream home about. My favorite was the cheesecake dish. Excellent! Great ambiance and decor..modern, sexy, art deco, neuvue. Plus+ on the drinks..but the food was too salty, maybe the kitchen was busy with the Valentine's menu as we ordered a La carte.

Ambiance was so beautiful and refreshing with all the greenery. I was equally impressed by the lack of televisions at the bar, but I liked that so you can focus on your delectable meal and/or quality conversation. I enjoyed little nods to Korean cuisine and ingredients. Overall, very impressed with the presentation, service, and delightful mouthfeel Cocktails were killer, too!
