Uninspired food, stiff service, unworthy of a Michelin star
We have tried a lot of Michelin 1-star restaurants. This one is definitely not up to snuff. The dining room is attractive and quiet; the candle light is pleasant. But why are there unlit votive candles on every table? That lack of attention to detail is not what one expects in a Michelin-recommended restaurant. More important, the dishes offered were old-fashioned and unexciting. A little foie gras or wine sauce does not make a gourmet meal. Worst of all, the service was stiff and formal. We felt neglected in our corner of the room. The senior members of the team appeared stressed; the junior members seemed afraid of their supervisors. And everyone was in a hurry, giving the restaurant a rushed and tense vibe. One example: Towards the end of the meal the sommelier swooped over and plucked my empty wine glass from the table without a word. He did not ask if I had enjoyed the wine, nor if I wanted another glass. Maybe he was upset that we had not ordered an expensive bottle. It was as if he was encouraging us to leave as soon as possible. I've eaten in a lot of restaurants in France over the years. Never had an experience like that. Weird. The goal of a first-rate restaurant should be to make everyone feel welcomed and special, no matter how expensive their meal. The Auberge St. Laurent failed to meet that goal. Their marketing slogans promise lots of smiles. We did not see many the evening we visited. On a more positive note, the portions were generous and we were given several freebies: a selection of appetizers, a "mise en bouche," and then several little dessert cakes at the end. The sweets were the best. The others, having been prepared in advance, did not taste fresh. The mousses and creams had a tell-tale film over them from having sat too long in the pantry. Again, a rather small thing, but not what you expect in a restaurant recommended by Michelin. It's time for the inspectors to make another visit. PS The hotel side of the operation is first-rate: a sincere and friendly welcome, spacious and comfortable rooms, absolutely spotless public areas. We'd happily stay there again, but we'll try another restaurant.

A surprise meal, everything is subtle, classy service, nothing to complain about. The dishes, the cheeses and the wines. Nothing but excellence. THANKS

What a nice surprise ! A 4-star hotel in the countryside – lovely setting, excellent food, cozy room. And all 8 minutes from the airport and 15-20 minutes from the center of Basel.

Okay but…
A safe address, the food is very good, the service is pleasant, the setting is the same. However, we missed a little 'the surprise...', the little extra thing that would transport us, that would leave us with this unparalleled taste memory. What we liked the most; scallops as well as the black forest-style meringue dessert! Excellent!

Nice evening with friends. Always an excellent rosé champagne from Deutz. The menu at 92 euros was perfect, we just replaced the main course with hare à la royale, an emblematic dish of French cuisine and rare on the menus. The trout was excellent as well as the homemade spaetzle. Everything was accompanied by a Boxler Sonnenberg riesling, lace. The hare à la royale was remarkable accompanied by a perfect roasted rib of Jean Villa. The dessert was on par with the rest. The service was great as well as the wine advice. THANKS

Discovering this establishment following a star gift voucher, we wanted to go to a restaurant somewhere other than our area and frankly were not disappointed with the trip! A very pleasant welcome, a warm atmosphere, a meal that seduced our taste buds, very discreet and attentive staff! I highly recommend this framework

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
