Another magical moment at Les Terrasses!
First stop on the holiday route, Aux Terrasses is now a goal in itself, where I like to have lunch and dinner with friends or family. There are all kinds of reasons to make the trip: the warm welcome from the hostess, the decor, the volumes of the room, the light, the harmony of the furniture and the crockery placed on magnificent oak tables . This elegant sobriety is the perfect setting for the cuisine that Jean-Michel Carrette serves us, rigorous and traditional from a great chef, but full of inventiveness, modernism, and high-level taste and visual surprises. The service is discreet, efficient and attentive, like the attentive sommelier who shares his courteous knowledge with guests who are amazed by his choices for the food and wine pairing menu. There are also many gourmet discoveries in the glasses, like during our lunch where we were able to taste an anthology of delicious whites. On the plates, which pass at a perfect rhythm, without having to wait while leaving time to taste each dish, generous portions of products carefully chosen and presented with talent. Colors, scents, textures, perfect cooking (the char is a marvel!). Everything is beautiful, the dressage is full of wit and elegance, with no frills. With Carette, there are no flashy mixtures, we savor and recognize the taste of the condiments or juices which bring the scallops to their best taste, the asparagus to the peak of their flavor... Each dish is also magnified by small details full of inventiveness without the need for incomprehensible descriptions (as is often the case elsewhere), spices with unknown names or learned expressions. At Les Terrasses, we enjoy a rare, original but frank cuisine, where plants take a very interesting place and rich in new tastes. We have a delicious and relaxing time there, especially since the prices are very reasonable. for an address of this quality. The first star is well deserved, and the new Michelin distinction (the green macaron) distinguishes Jean-Michel Carette's cuisine in its eco-responsible commitment.

We were celebrating this moment which had been reserved for more than a month in a restaurant where we were used to being received in an exceptional manner with noble and perfectly accompanied dishes. However, this Saturday March 30, we were very disappointed especially in relation to the habits that you had in this place Indeed, no noble products, an asparagus, a parsnip, a very small piece of fish, not cooked enough for our taste and not even hot. A very small piece of pigeon certainly very good but not really hot either. A langoustine. When I say one, it’s one of the quantities that were really very small, sometimes bordering on the ridiculous. We chose the pairing with my son-in-law, food and wine. I will not insist on the quantity of glasses because I think that ultimately it was sufficient given the number, but in terms of quality, no Burgundy wine and very young wines. . For the price of €80 per person, we could have hoped to taste at least one regional grand cru Maybe this is all the result of current inflation??? But the fact remains that in these conditions we will not return there again. I know many other establishments, certainly perhaps more modest, but whose value for money is 100 times better. It's too bad

We dined “Aux Terrasses” on Saturday March 31 and had a delicious evening in every sense of the word. We found the 8-course meal excellent and very innovative, with perfectly balanced portions, a good balance between the different dishes (with vegetables, meat, a superb lobster just roasted on wood, fish, cheese and dessert) , perfect cooking (pigeon, fish) and varied and original flavors. We loved everything with a particular mention for the lobster and the Comté on vin jaune mousse. We decided to accompany our meal with a local wine and were very well advised by the sommelier, the wine was excellent too! We largely had the feeling of "getting what we paid for", unlike other experiences in the same city. At the end of our dinner, we decided to make this restaurant a “mandatory” stop during our transfers to the South.

We had lunch on Wednesday March 27 with a 6-course menu not communicated, the celery water was tasteless, I recognize that the products were of very good quality and offered with a very wide and improbable range of garnishes and seasonings which was detrimental. has the quality of these good products. red meat served blue and cold, without asking for cooking and we had to insist on having it medium rare. for cheese we were offered a grated Comté cheese on mousse (good) or a platter or a fromage blanc. I chose the tray (beautiful trolley) which was not my surprise, on the addition 15 € extra on the tray (not advertised) it's a scam in a 90 € menu. In summary, we were disappointed.

We ate on Saturday March 30th in the evening, and it's no understatement to say that we were very disappointed. We had already come with my wife in September 2022 (with overnight stay) where we enjoyed the cuisine on offer. Well in a year and a half, for our part, we found that the level had dropped and the dishes offered were not up to par and the quantities on the plates were borderline laughable... Mix and match: a cup of celery-flavored water, asparagus sprinkled with herbs, half a parsnip, a piece of fish, a small piece of squab. Certainly, listening to the descriptions of each dish gives the impression of a "wow" effect, but in the mouth it remained good, nothing more. Concerning the "Food and Wine" pairing, only one Burgundy wine on all the glasses offered and "young" wines (wines from 2021), even "green" on one or two (and when I say "glass", one open bottle makes two services, do not hesitate to offer at least one grand cru especially in our region...). For an extra 80€, it's a bit excessive... This is our experience. And regarding the high price of the single Saturday evening menu (which was indicated from the start, we knew it, there is no problem about that), we expected something else on our plates, Really! So maybe researching the combinations of dishes/sauces took time but it didn't show. Sorry! We won't be back this time...

Perfect from start to finish 10/10 Impeccable service, pleasant surroundings, inventive and perfectly mastered refined cuisine. A great discovery for a lunch with excellent value for money (three-course menu €42)

First experience on the terraces with a welcome as we like with delicacy, the sommelier guides us perfectly to choose our bottle which will accompany our culinary journey. Thanks to the kitchen team for this truly remarkable lunch, the flavors are strong and the common thread keeps these promises, we are in heaven!!! In front of all these creations. We now only have one desire!! To go back there.

Every year our children give us a gift voucher to a starred restaurant in the region (we are near Macon), so this year it was at Les Terrasses in Tournus, and we enjoyed this cuisine which I would describe as creative and bucolic especially for the (numerous) appetizers, the sympathy of the various speakers, the explanations and the advice create an atmosphere where we feel at ease while making beautiful gastronomic discoveries. In short, we won't have to wait very long to go back! In the meantime, we congratulate the Chef and his entire team, and we recommend this establishment to anyone who knows how to be an epicurean...

Wow what an incredible experience. Food was superb, creative, colourful, stimulating all the senses. Delightful service and extremely informative. Perfect wine matching too. Really lovely atmosphere and surroundings. So elegant. Will remember forever. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Aux Terrasses Hotel and Restaurant is run by the talented chef owner JEAN-MICHEL CARRETTE. I spent a night there and enjoyed a lovely meal in the 1 Star Michelin Restaurant. A surprising feature was that the surprise menu was not the same for all the tables. Mrs. CARRETTE is equally hospitable and they run an interesting gift shop just across the hotel. Superb wine list priced fairly. Highly recommended. Special mention: I had left my laptop charger in the room which they safely kept and shipped it promptly 2 months later to an address specified by me
