Absolutely love this place - especially the happy hour!
Absolutely love this place - especially the happy hour! Their decor and ambiance is very aesthetically pleasing and the space is really big so it's great for larger groups. The menu items are very unique and the happy hour specials are really good, and it includes Saturdays. The cherry blossom cocktail is super tasty and the Turkish coffee pot is good if you like coffee! It's a strong taste and presentation of the drink is really cute. The service was great and I would definitely come back to try more of their cocktails and dinner items! In the summer it looked like they have an outdoor space which would be really cute for a girls night, date, etc. when the weather is nice.

We went here for our anniversary as we attended a concert a few blocks away. Out of a list of recommendations from a coworker, this wasn't on it but we decided to give it a try after looking at the online menu. Absolutely the most delicious food and drink with a beautiful ambiance. I paired the food with the saffron horchata. Our waitress Ashton was amazing, as well as the other employees who ensured we enjoyed the meal and our anniversary dinner. Truly delicious - we haven't stopped talking about it! We will definitely be back!

Lovvvvvvvve this place for Happy Hour! We truly enjoyed our cocktails! They were delicious and picture perfect! They had natural sweetness and you didn't have to question if there was liquor (like some cocktails). The ambiance is to die for! The natural sunlight and greenery is top tier! The bar and entire space gives luxury & chic. It is huge! The staff were nice and attentive; service was excellent which is always at the top of my list! Oh, I loved the hummus and garlic naan!
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance -5 stars.
Service - 5 stars Wine- 5 stars Drinks 5 stars for creativity 2 stars for quality/taste. Food-1 star I was very excited about this place as I saw it on instagram. But we all know instagram vs reality is a thing. We went in on a Friday night and sat in the back by the communal tables. The ambiance was great but I was disappointed at the menu and the food. Is it a Turkish place? Or italian or Chinese? If its italian where is the pasta? If it is Chinese then where are the chopsticks? Get it together, and knock it off with the confusion. This was shown in the menu and the taste. First of am I ordering or decorating my house? Why are there fabric swatches in the back of my menu. And why are there there large pieces of mushrooms in my baba ganoush. Love mushrooms but they dont belong in a baba ganoush. I am all for a spin on things but please make it make sense and taste good. Elevate a classic, dont ruin it please. The saffron rice was another dish I was also disappointed at. The rice was so hard, it was plastic like. There was no taste and so hard to chew. The server said that it is meant to be that way but if that's truly the case then the chef needs to be fired. I shouldn't risk breaking my teeth. Sorry! So to conclude, the gnocchi was the only thing worth eating. I will return for the wine and nothing else.

While the decor and restaurant itself is very aesthetically pleasing, I would not return for the food. This may just have to be a cute drinks spot. We tried a few dishes on the menu including the kale salad, feta pie, baba ganoush, fries (cheese?), octopus gnocchi, another pasta dish (forgot the name), and the desserts. Out of everything we had I have to say the best thing we had was the spinach and feta pie. Everything else was underwhelming or I could not finish it. Probably the worst thing I had was the octopus gnocchi which I was really disappointed about since I was really looking forward to it and it was the only reason we chose to come here. The gnocchi was extra chewy and completely lost its form and octopus was also chewy and just not great. I later found out that a few of my other friends had also visited Bambola earlier in the year/last year and had a very similar experience with the food.

Was dressed to the nines for my Valentines dinner with the hubby. We pull up in our black Uber ready to have a nice evening. Ambiance was lovely. It was valentines evening, I had made my reservations weeks before. We got there and they sat us in the very back (even though there were lots of open tables). We asked if we could be moved to a nicer table, but they said the open tables were for parties larger than two. Not only were we in the very back, we sat with other couples at a long "communal" table - I believed it was the room they save for large parties. We were all feeling awkward and uncomfortable and agreed we'd never come back. The Halloumi fries and the Peking duck were very good. We also ordered the kebab and calamari. They were just ok. As the evening went on, those open tables for larger parties were not occupied by large parties. There were couples at those tables. If the restaurant reads this, please educate your staff about wines from "weird places that I can't pronounce. How about an Italian wine?" - our servers words. We were inquiring about the Chateau Musar wine from Lebanon....

Okay this place was SO GOOD!! You need to go for happy hour!! We were hesitant because of the negative reviews--ignore them. Get the happy hour food and drinks and you will have yourself a great time with delicious food for under $50 a person. Halloumi fries 12/10.

Overall I would say 3 1/2. Food and service was spotty. Wine expensive and not very good. Salads were good. And interestingly one calamari order was great and one did not taste good. The spinach pie was cold. The beef stir fry and chicken kabobs were all good and juicy. Desserts were ok. Loved the ambiance. Really Beautiful space so I could see it being a fun place to go to for apps and cocktails!
Be the first to ReplyI'm surprised Bambola doesn't have a higher average rating.
I went with a large group so I tried lots of things and they were all phenomenal: tzatziki, hummus, halloumi fries, rigatoni, spinach and feta pie, dumplings, the 22oz dry aged ribeye, tiramisu, and pistachio cannolis. The kofta wasn't my thing, but the tiramisu has to be the best I've ever had. Can't wait to come back!

One of my favorite spots for Happy Hour! Bambola is brought to us by the same group that brought us Beatnik so of course the quality is there. I come here quite often, especially during the warmer months when they open the window near the bar and you can catch the good breeze. Drinks here are always on point as I usually rotate between the sesame & banana old fashioned, cherry blossom gimlet and the coconut sour. All very good drinks! Snacks on the HH menu are always good as I tend to go with the hummus, roasted beets, tzatziki and lentil & beef kofta. I tried their burger once and it was very good as well. Everything on the HH menu is $10 so you get a great deal. Bartenders here are always good people and make great drinks. The ambience is very chill and gets a bit intimate as the nighttime falls down. I've brought many friends and dates here! Definitely recommend Bambola for any occasion.
Be the first to ReplyFood was just ok.
We went for the Chicago restaurant week prefix menu. My biggest issue wasn't the food though. The people filling the water glasses. They pick up the glass and fill it. Watched all of them go around picking up peoples glasses to fill them. Talk about spreading germs or COVID. Don't touch the glasses!!

Not bad but not good. Prob wouldn't return again in the near future but I'm glad I checked it off my bucket list. I saw that they had happy hour on Saturdays from 5-7 so we stopped. The food was okay-- the best part was definitely the hummus and the pita bread, followed by the calamari, and the tzhaziki side. The ambiance was vibey and it was fun to go out to enjoy the moody lighting but overall probably wouldn't return.

Service was very good, our server was knowledgeable of the menu and helpful. Nice variety of cocktails and creative mocktails, our group all enjoyed our drinks. The food was the unfortunately the real downside. Everything from veg sides to mains was overly salty and lacking in flavor. This includes the whipped cheese app, fried rice (greasy and bland - how can pork belly be bland???), lamb shank was overly salty and otherwise Iacking in flavor. If it had showed up in a styrofoam carton as leftovers from a $ restaurant , I'd say it was as good as could be expected. At this level I expect a bit more. One exception was the bok choy, which was absolutely perfect. It was smoky and complex, a standout! Also the lamb dumplings were quite good. Overall, very disappointing. :/
Be the first to ReplyPlease do not go here or at least don't get any main dishes
Please do not go here or at least don't get any main dishes if you do. This place is an overpriced hella gentrified attempt at introducing "exotic" cuisine to wealthy locals. Service and ambiance are awesome, and the appetizers have some interesting and tasteful combinations. But, the main dishes are some of the most egregiously priced and woefully cooked I have ever seen. For the love of god, if you want roast duck go to sun wah. The roast duck at bambola is $100 and so dry my hungry friends and I couldn't finish it. Sun wah is a third of the price and 3x as delicious. Don't let Bambola bamboozle you!

I had been eager to try Bambola after reading about their "culinary fusion from Asian to European dishes along the Silk Road". Upon arriving, the decor inside is very nicely done. It's a cool experience walking in with the DJ really setting the vibe. We went to dinner last Saturday and were surprised it wasn't as packed as we were expecting. What we ordered:Sumac Margarita - 2/5 The beets made this drink a little too sweet, not enough smokey -- I wouldn't order again Xi'an Fried Chicken Baos - 5/5 These were a huge hit, so much flavor and a perfect amount of crispyBok Choy - 5/5 Pistachio pesto always has me sold, and these seemed to be pretty popular throughout the restaurantSmoked Lamb Shank - 4/5 I wanted to love this, but there's just something about the combination of spices that I don't think worked.. but the lamb is extremely tender and falls right off the bone so we were satisfiedOverall we were most impressed by the staff. They were very attentive and our waiter was great. Worth checking out if you're looking for a new restaurant to try.

Five stars all around: the atmosphere, wait staff, host, food and drinks. I cannot recommend this place more. I went here for a friends birthday and our waiter pulled out all of the stops to make it a fun celebration. We ordered the salad (one of the best salads I've ever been served), shrimp, chicken baos, fried rice and dumplings. Plus we got a birthday dessert. Needless to say we had a lot to take home for leftovers, which heated up nicely. This place is a delight and I wish it had a better rating. It was a true 5/5 and I will be returning.
Be the first to ReplyOur team of 15 dined at Bambola last night.
I organized the event but did not attend. This morning every single member came back with tons of compliments on the food and service. They were very impressed which of course is chef's kiss.I've enjoyed working with the events team for years at their other venues. Such a great team. Shoutout to Cassandra Hannan and Kelsey Del Monico Lucas. They're a dream to work with.As for food recs: for some reason the baos came up a number of times and the lobster gnocchi. Go! You won't regret it. I'm sending more people there and will be dining there pretty soon myself. Can't wait!

The rest of the meal was so overly salted it was inedible. Nice ambiance but kinda clubby. Good service. Would not recommend

Wonderful experience at Bambola! The atmosphere it intimate with great vibes. The staff is wonderful and the menu accommodates to dietary restrictions. I started with saffron cocktail and my friend had the coconut sour. We both loved our drinks! Mine was creamy and so flavorful. We had the Malay Salad, Crispy Shrimp, Smoked Lamb Shank, and Turkish Coffee Affogato. The Crispy Shrimp is a must! It's a shrimp wrapped in seaweed and then a wonton. It is delicious especially with the ginger currant sauce. The Malay Salad was refreshing to the rich meal. The Lamb Shank was phenomenal. The meat was falling off the bone. That with the couscous was so decadent in the curry sauce. The pomegranate seeds adds a nice texture. We ended the meal with a Turkish Coffee Affogato. There was a thick chocolate sauce on the bottom with a coconut sorbet and they poured the coffee around it when they brought it to the table. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Highly recommend coming to Bambola! I will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu.
Be the first to ReplyI want to give this place all the stars.
The folks working here are friggin delightful. Seriously. I've never seen so many smiles. And what really drew us here was that the cocktail menu starts with 2 non alcoholic drinks. Starts With!! They aren't buried at the bottom with the Diet Coke. Love that!So it sucks to say the food was just meh. Had a couple of the non alcoholic drinks. The Saffron was good. The rose and shiso soda was just sugar water. Sucks too because the second drink was forgotten about and we didn't get them until our meal was already over. We had a salad, the fried rice, the chicken bao and the rice pudding dessert. My wife said it best: if you take a bit just right, with all the ingredients in that bit, you get a glimpse of a good dish. But you just didn't get all the bites like that. The fried rice tastes fairly burned for example unless you get some of that egg and pork belly perfectly proportioned in your mouth. But the staff makes such a great impression. If I lived in the neighborhood I would definitely be back. Worth checking out.
Be the first to ReplyDined at Bambola.
Beautiful decor and great service. However, it ends there. The food was a disappointment. I do have to add that the cocktails and wine selection is good. As far as the food it is hard to find something that isn't fried. Lamb dumplings were fried and very hard to bite into. Shrimp had way too much coating on them. Fried rice very greasy. Extremely limited menu. I had high hopes for this restaurant but I will not go back.
