What a wonderful, delicious evening! We loved every minute
What a wonderful, delicious evening! We loved every minute and cannot wait to come back. If you are a lover of inventive, carefully crafted dishes, paired with delicious wines, Bastion is a must-go! It's a small space and that makes it feel all the more special. Worth the money. You need to book early so plan ahead if you can.
Be the first to ReplyOkay so I'm a foodie and the food was GREAT.
Service was also great. There was something off about the ambience. It could be because I'm 23 and everyone there was at least 35. I was expecting it to be a darker and more vibey but it was definitely more on the casual side. The music was also very country twang which through me off. But if you love trying different foods and watching the chiefs prepare in front of you then you will love this place. Also drinks are great and very strong

A special birthday that needed a special experience lead us to Bastion, and my husband and I are both so happy it did. The pleasant hostess Sierra led us through large, sliding wall,, which felt like entering a swanky speakeasy. we waited a small bar for our seats and had masterfully made bespoke cocktails by a bartender named Erik. Every plate was a sensory work of art. Sean, one of the highly trained chefs there, described each one and a separate wine steward explained our wine pairings. We certainly intend to head back there to see what's new.
Be the first to ReplyLiterally my most talked about bar.
This is where I tell everyone to come. The drinks are amazing and if you don't know what you want, don't worry they will make something tasty! The ambiance is great when the music is bumping. Great place to go with a group of friends and hang and in a great location to bar hop. I especially LOVE their restaurant that you have to get reservations a month ahead because it is worth the wait! Get the chef tasting menu or the tomahawk feast both options are DELICIOUS . Parking is along the street/neighborhood, but always a good time.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a meal! I went for a tasting with two food companions.
We made a reservation about a month in advance. We showed up early for our reservation so we could have a drink from the little bar before our meal. The little bar is a small bar on the restaurant side of bastion. It's quiet, it has date night ambiance! Now the meal itself was incredible!!! Each item was delicious! The dishes had a great mixture of flavor, texture, meaty, creamy! The service was great as well and answered any questions we had about wine or the dish. Now for the cost. You will have to pay when you make a reservation and that includes tax and tip. That came out to be around $480. My food partners added the $85 wine tasting when we got there so then that increased the tax and tip a bit. What happens is when you get the bill after eating, it already includes the previously paid tax and tip paid for PLUS the additional amount that the bill was increased because of the alcohol. We got confused by that so that is why I share it here. The reason this was important was because we wanted to make sure we were tipping our servers appropriately. All this to say, this was a great experience. We were celebrating and had no regrets. The chefs come out before each course and tell you about the dish. It feels so intimate and just the vibe for food lovers!

Delicious tasting menu and such an enjoyable experience for our anniversary dinner. We sat at the bar and watched food preparations. Each food item was explained in detail...interesting and creative menu, ingredients and presentation!
Be the first to ReplyBest meal ever, loved it.
Have to be open minded and trust in the chef. But well worth it. The flavors and attention to detail are spectacular. Very intimate and you must book a month in advance, but I will return frequently. Thank you for such a good experience.

.. just really loud so if you're trying to have a date or talk to a friend I recommend going there after you have gotten to know them
Be the first to ReplyEverything about Bastion exceeded our expectations.
I highly recommend this place to any foodie.
Be the first to ReplyOverall, overwhelming and disappointing.
Bastion tries to bring eclectic flavors together, which I'm all for, but when this is done well those flavors blend together and melt in your mouth.. which was lacking at bastion. Instead, the dishes were too polarizing and ultimately missed the mark big time. I love a high end small plates spot but this was a failed attempt at that. The restaurant has SUCH a cool vibe though and staff were friendly. Wish I could have given this place 5 stars but the food left so much to be desired.

Parking can be an issue if the lot across the street is full...just keep trying because it's worth it. Service was great, the location is cool, the atmosphere is grown and chill, and the drinks are perfectly crafted. It can get quite packed and seating will be limited. If you don't mind standing, go for it.

It's a creative, intimate dining experience that's one of the best things you can do in Nashville.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous dinner.
Really great space. Creative food without going over the top. Great service. Much better than June or Audrey.
Be the first to ReplyIt's a great experience.
The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing wine pairings to accompany the food. The service was great, all chefs came by and explained every plate that was put in front of us. Staff was extremely knowledgeable when asked different questions about the food and wine. The staff we met were great, thanks to, Diana, Richard, Andrew, Noah, Chris, Eric and SierraThe "little bar" was great! We had the pleasure of spending time with Eric after our meal and it was a great time drinking his hand crafted menu of cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyI met my wife here 4 years ago.
We come back EVERY year for the incredible nachos, wonderfully crafted cocktails, and extensive vinyl record collection! We dream about the nachos all year long!!!
Be the first to ReplyMy boyfriend and I enjoyed the multi-course dinner.
We opted out of the wine pairing and just had a couple glasses each instead, but they still helped pick the right choices to get us through a couple courses at a time. The food was artwork and still somehow tasted better than it looked!
Be the first to Reply[Review of restaurant upstairs]I've been wanting to go to
[Review of restaurant upstairs]I've been wanting to go to Bastion for a while - the restaurant upstairs is small so reservations are a must and definitely something you need to plan ahead for! (Though I hear the bar on the lower floor has great pulled pork nachos so worth a visit even if you don't get dinner here). With a dinner reservation you are invited to have a pre-dinner drink at the mini bar upstairs if there is room, or you can wait at the downstairs bar if there's not. My friend and I were not lucky this time as the upstairs bar was full, but the drinks are still really great downstairs! I plan on returning to this bar portion of bastion sometime soon!Upstairs, there are a few tables and a long counter surrounding the small kitchen to eat at. I was excited to be seated at the counter, watching the chefs prepare each dish and being able to ask questions all night was definitely the highlight of the meal. If you are looking to enhance the experience, you can also add on a wine pairing to the meal ($80) which was extremely educational! I'm a lightweight so I just had a single cocktail with my dinner (order the persimmon/whiskey/gin/lemon cocktail if it's still in season/on the menu!!)Each course was artistically presented and very seasonal, apparently they will switch out ingredients and slightly modify dishes as often as every week. I enjoyed that they didn't just feed us squash and root vegetables for each course, because that's the direction a lot of restaurants go with winter menus. Overall, the meal felt light but satiating, in case you are looking at the pics and wondering if you will be full. Though if you're not, just head downstairs for those post-dinner nachos.Though I truly enjoyed the experience and service here, I wouldn't say I was wowed by the taste of anything. The scallops cured in seaweed were great, but other than that I didn't find anything else to be memorable. I would still highly recommend trying out Bastion for a nice dinner out! Definitely worth the splurge.
Be the first to ReplyTook my twins there for their first tasting menu experience.
I love the vibe in the bar - But the real experience started when we were let behind the wall to the back bar. The cocktail specialist was genius - such a great wealth of knowledge about flavors and mixing them together. I love the staggered seating into small dining area - we were met at the table with pours of paired drinks - the sake being our favorite. Each chef came out with courses, and each were personable and passionate about what they do! Tasting menu changes weekly!!!Beautiful space - Sierra was lovely and was so attentive. Richard, Chris, Diana, shawn, Andrew and crew were really amazing - exactly what I would hope my kids' first experience like that would be.

Came early evening on a Saturday and that was perfect for beating a night crowd and having space to sit. I liked the bar games - kept it light and friendly feeling. The holiday vibe with the projector fireplace and free is really nice. Drinks are pricey especially if you get anything about well liquor. I expected a slight up charge but not several bucks when asking for the next level up for two drinks. Vegetarian nachos were good but I honestly picked so much stuff off that I wouldn't waste the money again. Good if you like olives, sour cream, and pickled onions, but steer clear if you don't. Had no idea what was on it - no description, but wanted to try as they were recommended to me. Love the location - nice amount of bars around.

Such a great experience!!! My friend and I made dinner reservations. The whole menu (attached in the pictures) was delicious, tastes, presentation, textures and portions. We were seating by the prep section, so we were able to watch the chefs decorating/putting plates together. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly.

This was a unique experience and the tasting menu lets you try a lot of things that you'd probably never order on your own. We've had the privilege of eating at some amazing restaurants with a similar dining experience and this, unfortunately, is ranked towards the bottom. The service was 5 stars and the quality of the ingredients as well. The 3 stars is because the dishes are too out there. I'm an adventurous eater but some of these were just too much. The oyster tasted like different textured salt and celery. The anchovy made up for lack of fish flavor with a punch to the taste buds. Not something the vast majority would enjoy (I would assume). The most offensive dish was a Eucalyptus dish. The server mentioned it would be medicinal He wasn't joking. It was awful! Elements were frozen as well...I just don't understand why the chef would serve something like that. We could hear people next to us quietly talking about it as well. The main dishes were delicious and different, we really enjoyed them. The desserts were also yummy. I really wrestled with how many stars to give but at the end of the day, I would not spend my money to come back. It just wouldn't be worth it to me when there are so many options in Nashville.

We've visited four or five times now, and have always enjoyed our meals. The food is routinely delicious and we enjoy semi-casual fine dining. However, our last visit was disappointing. The person who greeted us was rude and we sat at length without drinks between courses. It's a touch embarrassing when you've talked the place up to your guests. We'll return because we enjoy trying new menus and hope that the service we've received in the past will return in the future.
Be the first to ReplyOkay so let me be vulnerable here.
I'm a 20-something dude who loves music sports aesthetics fashion movies and old school video games. Bastion hits on ALL cylinders. Only ever been for the bar, not food. Pretty small-ish place. Outstanding vibes. Dopest stadium seating you'll ever see at a bar. Whatever your definition of "cool" is, Bastion probably covers it. Crowd is mostly record-collecting beanie-wearing millennials. Lighter Mexican beers are a favorite order. Loud hip-hop and indie rock playing - I think there's a hip-hop night? Fact check me on that. Bathrooms are clean bro. That's important. The most fun I've ever had in Nashville started at Bastion and ended at Flamingo (right next door). Amazing 1-2 punch, highly recommend. Very "remember that sick spot we went in Nashville? That was like the coolest place ever" vibes.
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite restaurant experience in Nashville at the back
My favorite restaurant experience in Nashville at the back bar and restaurant. We used rideshare knowing that we would be drinking. We arrived a little early for our reservation to grab a drink at the bar before dinner, had no idea there was a tiny bar in the back! The small bar had the nicest and most knowledgeable team that made me one of the best French 75s I have ever had. Right on time we were escorted back to the restaurant. I ordered the wine pairing and my husband ordered various cocktails. The meal was well timed, exceptionally plated and had several standout dishes in the 7 courses and 14 small plates. Wine pairing was also exceptional and I would highly recommend it. Team was attentive and warm, made you feel like friends were cooking for you (if your friends could actually cook a meal like this). Would go back again and again everything I am in Nashville.
