Beauitful views of Bellingham Bay! Lovely dining room!
Beautiful location. We stayed in the Bellwether Suite which was roomy with our own little patio. Gorgeous view. Dining room is beautiful! Nice walking paths. Wish menus were in the room for room service. Wish there were more channels on the tv. We had family come eat with us...and the menu is NOT child friendly. The bed in the suite requires you to hop on it...very high! If we get to return...I will not leave the windows open at night....loud train! And I'll request softer pillows!

Our whole experience was top notch! Could not have asked for a nicer & more comfortable room & the staff, from the front desk to the house keeping staff & restaurant employees were all incredible! We have been raving about this to friends & family & will definitely be back again.

Amazing service, Beautiful room and the room, service was fast and food was hot and delicious. I traveled for work and was pleased with the room, the jettet soaking tub, corner fireplace and gorgeous view. The huge king sized bed was so comfortable, I wish I could have stayed longer and slept in a little.

My wife and I love the Bellwether! The bed is very comfortable and the pillows are even better. Great view of the harbor and fun to watch the boats coming in and out and people walking their dogs. Great service from the desk and lots of restaurants in short walking distance. Free parking in the garage. This has become our favorite hotel. We love everything about it. It’s great for a weekend getaway or a special occasion. Highly recommend.

Excellent room with a magnificent view and great staff. They made us feel very welcome. The bed and pillows were most comfortable and the ambiance of the surrounding were like a luxury hotel. We plan on a return visit

When a road trip to spend Christmas with family was derailed by a snow storm, my husband, our pup, Molly, and I stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Bellwether. We have travelled with our dog before, and accommodations are usually adequate but minimal. From the moment we stepped into the magically decorated lobby, we were greeted warmly. We quickly realized that dogs are treated like royalty! Our lovely room included a comfy bed for Molly, water/food dishes, and a bottle of water for her and a Milkbone! There was also a welcome note for Molly from Bella, the hotel canine concierge, who we got to meet in person in the lobby, and we immediately fell in love with her! We had a cozy fireplace, with a view of Bellingham Bay. Every day we walked the nearby trails and explored the marina. Our dining experiences were excellent, with superb service and delicious beverages/meals. In short, what had started out as a way to "make do" when holiday plans fell through became a beautiful and memorable experience.

This is a fabulous hotel. Pet free and top floor water view is best. Great room, quiet and far enough from the train that noise is minimal. Restaurant is good too, a little spending, but good food. Plenty of other nearby options too. It's our go to place while in B'ham

Excellent staff, service and rooms. Everything is simply first class! Have stayed several times and each time has been consistently excellent. The location is right on the water and plenty of vistas and walking options,
Be the first to ReplyNot bad.. except the lighthouse restaurant.
We had the Executive Plaza room. It was ok. However train noises several times a night at 4am then again at 6am. We had a bit of trouble keeping the room cool enough for sleeping. Quite stuffy. The cost of the room was very expensive for what you got. I would say it lacks that value category. We were very disappointed with the restaurant. It was mediocre at best. The fries were soggy and greasy and the calimari was so salty. It was inedible. My partner was GF and they were unwilling to accomodate. Even though they claim they are GF.. so disappointed we cancelled three further reservations because we absolutely could not safely eat there. There are many restaurants very close by that are excellent GF friendly. Hearthfire was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyLovely Waterfront Hotel
We had an excellent stay at the Bellwether. The room was very spacious, well laid out, and appointed. We loved having the gas fireplace in the room. It was winter, so we didn't spend time on the balcony, but the view was terrific. The staff is some of the friendliest you can hope for. It is a short drive into town, and the walks around the area where the hotel is were great. The EV chargers in the garage are a great bonus. We were truly pleased with service, room, cleanliness. No complaints at all. We will definitely stay again if plans bring us to Bellingham and hopefully book early enough for the lighthouse room!

Quiet, comfortable rooms, impeccable service, beautiful location, and the restaurant food is amazing, with great options for all dietary preferences. We’ve stayed here before but it’s even better this time around, with a new menu and warm holiday spirit. Little touches like cookies at the front desk, bicycles available to enjoy the waterfront, and other amenities make this a great choice for a stay in Bellingham. Train noise is minimal compared to other hotels we have stayed in here.
Be the first to ReplyNice Hotel, noisy Suite
We stayed in the Bayview suite. The hotel overall is very nice and quiet area with amazing views. I however wouldn't recommend the Bayview suite specifically. The view from this 2nd floor room is great, but the room is awkwardly shaped and at times can be very noisy. The room is U shaped as it wraps around the elevator. The elevator noise you would hear are the luggage cart wheels clumping into the elevator. The real noise however is from the two storey vaulted ceiling lobby, which the room entrance directly overlooks. You can easily hear laughing and shouting from the lobby below. I can only imagine if a wedding reception was going on the increased noise. We turned on the bath fan and tucked a blanket at the door base to muffle the noise. I would recommend this hotel, but just not this suite, especially for its price compared to other rooms in the hotel.

Found this location last minute, but really comfortable stay in small hotel location right on the water for beautiful sunset. Room was large and comfortable and makes you not want to leave. Very easily accessible to local Bellingham visit locations for food and activities. Would definitely return again.

This is a very nice Hotel with friendly efficient service Rooms are clean, large and well appointed They greet you with a smile and a fresh baked cookie And, of course, the friendly little dog at the front desk An example of the service is the Morning desk person, who went and made me a DE CAF coffee for free when I asked about same That is service above and beyond When we were here they had a concert ad BBQ on the back patio'' Great music but the FOOD WAS TERRIBLE inedible

What a lovely stay! Beautiful View , quiet, very well appointed room. Nice robes, super clean and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. Nothing negative to say about this charming hotel. Outdoors they have corn hole to play and nice comfy chairs by a gas fireplace, all while overlooking the Marina and bay.

Don't expect management to give a fig about the quality of your experience when events in the area prevent you from sleeping. We were kept awake most of the night and left the hotel exhausted. Great views from the room though.
Be the first to ReplyVery Beautiful and Pet Friendly!
We brought our dog with us and the hotel gave him his own bed, bowls, and a blanket! They also left him complimentary treats and were able to watch him at the front desk while we went to dinner. The hotel was very pretty (right on the water!) and the rooms were very comfortable! The hotel staff was also very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

We arrived at 1pm on a Saturday and left at noon the next day...it was with a group of friends and a birthday celebration! Exeptional service from start to finish, our rooms were clean and spacious, with superb views. We enjoyed drinks in the lounge then a great dinner in the Wine Cellar. We will be back!

We stayed Christmas night and extended our stay to the 27th due to frigid temperatures and snow. Hotel Bellwether's customer service is outstanding with friendly and accommodating staff. It was apparent that several were covering multiple areas for those unable to make it in due to the weather, but their customer service never missed a beat. Kudos!

Oh my gosh!!! This place was amazing. We usually stay home because we can't take the dog to a hotel. Well, this place caters to dogs. When we got to our room we were so surprised. There was a dog bed and 2 dog bowls. One had a bottle of water in it and the other had a treat for our Hotrod. Every time we took him out to go potty, he got treats from the ever so sweet staff. He smiled at them every time he went by. He even put his feet up on the counter waiting for his treat. Ha Ha.
The place was spotless. Everyone was helpful and nice. The Thanksgiving spread was absolutely yummy.
We didn't get to do much walking outside due to the rain and wind that day, then the day we left the sunshine decided to come out. UGH.
We plan to go back just so our dog could get spoiled.

Perfect Autumn Getaway!
This lovely hotel is conveniently located near the historic Fairhaven and downtown Bellingham. We booked a Deluxe Bayview Room and really enjoyed the view of the Bay and the mountain ranges from our room every day and night. We particularly enjoyed star gazing at night in the outdoor seating area of their restaurant one night... It was a bit chilly; however, the firepit and the blanket they provided made it all cozy and pleasant. There are also multiple dining options within a few minute walk from the hotel. We walked to a couple of them during our stay for late dinner and drinks. Good experiences all the way.... We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely not a must stay
We travelled across the country to see the PNW. We were especially excited to see Bellingham. We decided to splurge on the Bellwether since we spent the whole day hiking and driving. When we arrived, there was no one to help with our bags and a lots of food/car traffic from the shopping center right next to the hotel. They placed us in a room (generously called an executive suite for such a small, basic space) on the ground floor with a “balcony”. It was literally just two chairs aimed at the street next to rowdy dinner goers in the shopping center nearby. Zero privacy.
Right as we checked in, we had to park in their “secure lot” one building over. When I tell you it would’ve but safer to park in the street, I mean it. The public parking section of the garage was MUCH nicer than the one behind the gate reserved for guests. The extra low ceiling made it barely passable for SUVs and the random furniture, boxes and trash from the hotel that they’d been filling the garage with left hardly any space for guests to park. We lugged our own suitcases past broken chairs and excess hotel furniture into a cramped staff elevator that could only fit two people. No signage to find it either. I sincerely cannot believe I paid $400/night to do this.
And that’s another thing. The room price you reserve under isn’t accurate. They require an additional $100-150 charge for incidentals, even if you were like us and used none. Yes, that’s customary at 4+ star hotels. But this one doesn’t live up to that so it’s definitely just another way to up charge vs a convenience.
Anyway, back to the room. It’s more of a Hampton Inn quality. Actually Hampton Inn has more amenities and higher quality ambience upon arrival.
I went to take a bath in the jetted tub they brag about on the website. It had hair in it. After I cleaned it out myself, I noticed the bath products were bolted to the serrated shower in a pump sconce and so in order to wash or shampoo in the bathtub, you had to pump what you needed into a paper cup and carry it over to the separate bath tub. Not even any trial size products for bath use. After all that, the shutters which open into the rest of the room would not remain shut. The latch isn’t secure and expands, especially with heat… not ideal for a steamy bathroom.
I decided to order room service and tuck in for the night. Unfortunately, rest was nearly impossible thanks to my room being literally in the street and so close to the main entrance. And not just that, the ice maker went off dozens of times an hour. Who knew an ice maker could be as loud as a garage door opening? Ugh.
Anyway, I hope tomorrow is better. I feel so bummed out that I travelled all this way only to be stuffed into the worst room in the place. I mean the rooms even closer to the front desk is probably worse so maybe that’s a blessing? I chose this place because reviews of another nearby spa resort mentioned nonstop train noise keeping the guests up at night. It turns out I got the same experience here anyway :(
$400+ a night? No way. I’ve stayed in more appropriately priced rooms in much nicer places. I usually seek out nicer resorts when I travel. This one doesn’t live up to its sticker price.
The location on the water is nice but what does it matter if it’s a gloomy day and you hear nothing but rolling suitcases, drunk kids and loud trucks passing by your window all night.
I came to visit Bellingham specifically to see if it was a nice fit as a potential new hometown for us. I hope the rest of the city redeems itself.
