Lunch with friends!
A great lunchtime experience. Doors open promptly and within minutes the restaurant is full. The concept is explained by the waiter so as not to over or under order, this worked perfectly for us. The wines are also excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

Carles, the owner, along with his team, Gonzalo, Lucca, Sebastian, etc. are such in sync that all the dishes and wines we ordered were outstanding, along with the service. We were so lucky to snag 2 nights eating at this phenomenal restaurant during our vacation to Barcelona. If you love food and wine, you will not be disappointed and will want to come back and come back and come back ...

We had a really great experience at Berbena. I can't recall all dishes sadly, but here's what I remember. We started with some bread and pork neck. For starters we had: - oxtail gyoza- really tasty mainly driven by the flavorful broth. - jerusalem artichokes- absolutely amazing, crunch fried - tapioca and cheddar dadinho- crunch outside and creamy inside - monkfish - very tasty, served in a nice crispay basket - cecina and celeriac- also very tasty with thinly sliced celeria For mains we had: Tuna with figs- of all the things this was the one that impressed the least I have to say Grilled squid- very tasty and beautiful looking Beef cheek- super soft and very tasty Dessert- the icre cream with olive oil and salt- really really different taste and a clear winner for the whole group. The service was very friendly and they also gave us great wine recommendations. Would definitely go back here!

Got lucky with this place, as was on a wait list. Delicious creative cuisine and well informed extremely helpful service. Small plates for sharing. The restaurant has 2 sittings , the first at 1915 and the second at 2145 on Mondays through Fridays. The doors are locked once everyone is seated, and then like an orchestra the kitchen plays ! Excellent. If you can snare a spot don’t think twice !

Gonzalo is a helpful restaurant member that helped me twice to find a table in my last day in BCN - the second time was to rebook for me in the second seating after I missed my first booking. Thank you for this - I appreciate. The dining experience would be excellent if the sewage pipe smell was not present - I was seated in the corner of the bar facing the street and at this corner a pipe runs from the upper floor. The actual food from their September Menu was amazing - I particularly enjoyed the tuna with fig the mushrooms and the dessert which also had figs. The service is one of the most welcoming I ever had - all restaurant members are friendly, chatty and willing to assist you to make the best of your dining experience. Highly recommended to future visitors!

This meal was top tier. It was unique, delicious, and adventurous. The only thing that topped the food was the remarkable service. The bread service was unreal and each course offered an exciting spin on a familiar favorite. This place begs for another visit.

We had some good meals in Barcelona but this was top of the list. Amazing food, brilliant service and a great atmosphere. Particularly recommend the beef gyozas and ox cheek. The restaurant does two sittings which is slightly restrictive but the food more than makes up for it!

Entire staff was just as if not more fantastic than the food(which is saying something because the food was unbelievable)! Menu was incredibly diverse and all delicious. Helping guide through all the dishes, the ability to split in half dishes to try a bunch as a couple while not overwhelming you let's you get more than a taste of everything they have to offer. P.S. if you see a dessert by Lucca go ahead and order that one in addition to whatever else you were going to get, the tropical desert he had in March was fantastic! Thank you all again and I would happily come back to Barcelona only if I could come eat here again

This is a mind blowing place. Incredible craft without fuss or snobbery. The food is always incredible from simple things like bread and the cheese sourced to flavours you have never had. ( aged tuna with strawberries and crushed macadamia?!?) The staff are beyond exceptional. Passionate. Knowledgable. Friendly. Delighted to be building a restaurant that is three Michelin quality but feels like a neighbourhood bar. It really does not get better than this anywhere . Perfect

Went there as a couple in February. This is one of the best restaurant i have ever been. Well thought multicourses menu with local products. Pricing is very decent. The chef Carles also acts as the sommelier and he knows his wines. Staff incrededibly nice and talented. I highly recommend. If you can, sit at the marble bar so you can see chefs in action.

We have been in BCN for a month and have eaten out every evening and I can say that this was the worst experience by far. It is a shame as food is good. However, it was ruined as they only do two sittings- one at 7.30 and want everyone (that is everyone out by 9.30) even if you are still eating! That means if you get there at 7.30 you are rushed through every plate and do not get to enjoy any of it. At one point we had 8 dishes on our table- mixing the starters with mains and cheese. We were lost! Hot dishes were going cold, and we had no idea what half of what we were eating was as everything was just getting mixed up. We got little explanation of dishes either. They expect everyone to be there at 7.30- fine but then we were sitting at our table for 30 minutes before we were served as of course everyone arrives at the same time. This makes it impossible for everyone to be served at once. We were the last table of 4 still eating before the next sitting and they were cleaning around us and the top guy was shouting at his staff trying to get everything ready for the 9.45 sitting. It was crazy. We felt like we were thrown out. On our way out we were greeted with the next sitting all waiting outside in the cold for exactly 9.45 (not a minute before!) Not a relaxed enjoyable evening. Would never return. If you want excellent food that you can enjoy, sipping your wine and taking your time then there are many other high-quality places I would try first!

A spectacular meal of unique taste sensations served in a dynamic atmosphere by dedicated artisans clearly committed to their craft and their customers’ experience. Daniel expertly guided us through our selections and we savored every bite of each delicious morsel placed in front of us, along with the wonderful wine. He made our night so much fun. I’m so glad this was the first reservation I made upon deciding to go to Barcelona. And the price was very reasonable. “Excellent” is not a high enough rating.

I am a diehard foodie. I live in one of the culinary capitals of the world and therefore I'm beyond picky. Before we went on vacation, I researched for some great dining experiences. If I can make the food better at my home, why would I dine out and spend the money? I definitely can't cook like Carles Pérez de Rozas and his team of excellent cooks! We were lucky enough to land a reservation for the first seatings and we were also the lucky ones to be sitting at the chef's counter to see all of the magic happening. This is truly a wonderful concept that Mr. Pérez de Rozas has created. All of the dishes were creative, fresh and inventive. I love that they explain the menu and everyone in the restaurant orders everything they would like all at once. You then sit back with your bottle of wine that Carles has masterfully picked out for you and watch the magic happening. You will feel like you're a part of something really special. The bread is made in house and I can't even start about the butter. I'm sad to be letting the world know about this amazing little restaurant but I think that this is an experience that needs to be shared, again and again.

This place is absolutely amazing . From start to finish it is just quite the experience . Open kitchen, the best sommerlier (Carles) nothing can go wrong. They do make you feel special and at home. Thank you guys for amazing culinary experience . Must try the tuna and carrillera . Ps/ make your reservations with time , they are always packed.

I spent hours searching and searching Barcelona restaurants trying to avoid all the touristy ones that display menus with pictures and I found it. Berbena was just amazing. Very small and intimate, down a quiet street with full view of the kitchen staff preparing the delicisious dishes. The owner Carles and his colleague (cannot remember her name) were so patient as they explained the various dishes even though they provided an English menu. Each dish was better than the next. I never imagined myself eating Oxtail or Beef Tongue but so delicisious. And for those folks who are a bit more conservative in what they like to eat, the menu most definitley accomodates for those tastes as well. It was worth the hours of research to find this place.

The food was extraordinary. I would recommend sharing and taking the advice of your waiter, for both food and wine. Every bite was a revelation. They are passionate and it shows. They do 2 two seatings a night so get there on time.

All I can say is Berbena is so good I went twice! This place is everything you hope a restaurant will be. It is cool, friendly, understated and she of the best food I have ever had. I live in Newport Beach, CA and was in town visiting my daughter while she was studying abroad. I stumbled onto a review of Berbena and wanted to give it a try. WOW I all I can say. Carlas and his staff are top notch sending out some of the most unique, creative and fresh local food I have ever experienced. One of the many highlights was the dessert, and I am not really a dessert person. Creme fraiche ice cream with drizzled olive oil, what?!!! Oh yeah, it is divine! If I given Berbena 6 stars I would! It is that good! No need for me to keep writing, just hear this, GO! You won't be sorry!!!

This 24 seat restaurant offers a strange and wonderful menu. They serve two seatings a night and serve small plates - and cheese and wine. The dishes are not common and the small staff prepares all of them in an open kitchen. But for adventurous diners, there is much to love!
Hamachi, with confit artichokes and enoki Mushrooms, (Wonderful)
"Matured" Tuna (i.e.cured in salt and then soy), with strawberries (AMAZING)
Beef cheek (WOW)
Monk Fish Liver with radish - (take small bites of the Liver as it is strong but intriguing)
The staff here make you feel ALIVE and welcome! Lastly, this meal is a BARGIN - given the detailed work to create these dishes, and quality of food, one would expect it to be double the cost!

Had such a delicious meal here, cooked with care and passion. It's a very small restaurant - around 8 tables. The menu is limited but everything was so great and fresh. A team of 3 who cook and serve with passion and dedication. Excellent home made bread. Great wines too, recommended by the team and reasonably priced.

We were extremely lucky (thanks to both the restaurant and to the people at our hotel (the Serras) who managed to snag a last minute cancellation for us on our last night in Barcelona.
And thanks goodness for that!
The restaurant is small and buzzing, and was filled for the first sitting within minutes of opening. All the staff (who seems to do everything) were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
The food was even better than we imagined - everything fantastically fresh and with mixtures of flavours and textures that were new to us. Coupled with a very good wine selection, it was simply wonderful, and a great way to end our first foreign trip since the pandemic.
We will certainly come again (and try to book a bit more in advance next time).

This is a cosy place in a great part of town. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the food was incredible. Would highly recommend.

This is what I call creative gastronomy with common sense. Cozy small place with friendly staff. You feel welcome and not intimidated like in some other fancy restaurants. When I say creative I really mean surprising and innovative dishes with a new twist to some traditional ingredients.
