BiXi Beer Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
Great atmosphere, service, and the food was great.
Rooftop patio is lovely and I definitely recommend!

Very much wanted to enjoy this experience but ended up leaving before receiving anything. Arrived for bar seating at rooftop bar and received water from bartender but he never gave any follow up service for an order. Eventually a man with a suit came 40 minutes later and we ordered a bottle of sake to share and crab Rangoon. At the 55 minutes mark it was obvious we were not going to be served anything anytime soon so ended up leaving to avoid the craziness any further. Disappointing as it does look like a really great place with good drinks and food options but clearly under staffed.

I went to Bixi for dinner and was captivated by the contrasting atmospheres: the upstairs had an airy, open vibe, while the downstairs offered a cozy, dimly lit lounge feel. We ordered the Yuzu Kosho Caesar Salad (ramps, cherry tomatoes, bacon lardons, toasted nori panko crumbs, Pork Char SIU Baos (lettuce, cucumber, scallion, pickled long fingers), and the Togarashi Smash Burger (japanese milk bun, slagel farms beef, sweet and sour aioli, red onion, heirloom tomato, kaiware) with fries. Everything was phenomenal but the caesar salad was particularly outstanding To add to our experience the staff was very friendly and helped us find the perfect combination of dishes! Can't wait to go back

We made a mistake and dined on the outdoor patio while it was 100 degrees outside but that did not stop us from enjoying this meal. BiXi beer really stands out, even amongst all the other highly rated restaurants that live on the same street. Definitely worth the trip to Logan square. My favorite things were definitely the noodles, definitely a sodium-heavy meal.

Five stars only to balance the negative energy I'm about to put into the cosmos. Ate here for brunch in the upper atrium. Super cute greenhouse atmosphere until a ficus tree starts dropping its ovaries into your kimchi grilled cheese. An Asian fusion tapas style brunch would never be my first choice but I was trying to be a good sport. Bixbi Beer has the interior essence of a Crate and Barrel and the echoing clamor of a university dining hall, and I would've rather eaten at either.

Underrated, we got 3 things here, the smash burger, the cucumber salad, and the Yibin noodles (forgot picture). All of them were outstanding, especially the yibin noodle. It's probably one of the best noodles I've had in a while. The walnuts added a really nice texture to the dish and it had an excellent mala flavor profile. It's definitely not authentic Asian food (like I've never had a Chinese cucumber salad with yogurt in it or a Chinese dish with walnuts in it) but they seem to have good vocabulary on authentic Asian ingredients and their execution is excellent, so it's probably the best if not one of the best Asian fusion restaurants I've been to in Chicago.

Next time you're in Chicago this is definitely a spot worth checking out! Bixi Beer is a modern brewpub located in Logan Square that features menu items inspired by Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine! Their menu makes it extremely difficult to decide what to order since every single option sounds incredible. These items range from gochujang fries to rose tteokbokki to cumin lamb noodles These are some of the items I was able to try during my visit: ~ Chicago Beef Baos: sliced slagel beef, sichuan spiced giardiniera with peanut oil, charred scallions, ginger lemongrass au jus ~ Southern Fried Cauliflower Baos: fried pickles, green goddess dressing, lettuce ~ Scallion Garlic Noodles: butter, scallion, gently cured soy sauce egg yolk, garlic, oyster sauce, parmigiano reggiano ~ Yibin Style Noodles: gai lan, yacai, walnuts, szechuan spice Bixi Beer also serves many delicious Asian inspired cocktails and has happy hour from 3-5PM Wednesday-Friday and on Sundays. This restaurant absolutely deserves a 10/10 and I already can't wait for my next visit! #chicagofood #asianfood #korean #chinese #vietnamese #asianeats #garlicnoodles #pub #beer #chicagofoodie #chicagorestaurants #cocktails

Came on a Monday to experience the Owen and Engine winter residency. Got their burger, which was one thick boy. It was covered in a bed of caramelized onions which provided a nice sweetness. Other than that the burger lacked flavor. The patty itself was like a slab of beef with little taste. The bun suprisingly held its integrity even with all that meat and juice on it. The fries that accompanied the burger were good. Some were a little undercooked but overall tasty. Finally, the malt vinegar mayo was alright. I wish it had a more defined flavor. At the end of the day, I was able to try the burger before they closed up shop and will probably never experience a thicker patty in my life. If I had more time I would come back and try the banger and mash as everyone else there was eating that.
The ambiance was very cool and menu has a lot of options.
We were very excited to try. Service was fine. Food was absolutely terrible. I never write reviews, but genuinely want to help someone else not spend $70 here. The egg rolls were fine. Nothing special. We got the cucumber salad. Weird flavor. Really had two bites and couldn't stomach it. $16 of highway robbery. Next was the cauliflower bao buns. Again, fine. Fried rice which you would think is a no brainer was HORRIBLE. The odor was pungent. Not sure what it smelled like, but it was nasty. My boyfriend described it as the smell of "cat food". We barely ate our meals. Had an embarrassing amount left to the point where we actually put it in a box. Immediately threw it out when we left. Don't waste your money.
If I could give zero stars I would.
DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE FOR YOUR EVENTS. My sister and brother in law booked this venue for their wedding this summer and shortly after a close family member was paralyzed in a tragic accident. Since the space does not have an elevator (which is a huge ADA oversight on its own) we had serious concerns regarding the accessibility. When we reached out with our concerns, we were not only met with a lack of understanding and compassion but also misinformation and disregard for our situation. This has left us with no choice but to look elsewhere. The management of this restaurant is clearly inflexible and selfish in the face of unforeseen circumstances, which is exactly what you need out of a venue when you're planning something as important as a wedding. Shameful.

Owen and Engine pop up review - note - Bixi beer is a 5-star rating... phenomenal spot. I'm writing this review just to point out the gross pricing that's taking place with their Owen and Engine popup on Mondays and Tuesdays. Came here with a group of 10 friends / families, and the prices are just gouging compared to what Owen and Engine charged 6 months ago before closing (see photos to compare). Markups are 30-50% of what prices were. Clearly, they're trying to take advantage of customers going there for "one last" Owen and Engine, but this price gouging is gross and leaves a sour taste in my mouth for Bixi Beer and the restaurant group behind both restaurants. Do better.

Our favorite spot in Logan square - excellent choice of beers and cocktails . Bao and crepes were delightful! We recommend this place for a date night or meeting up with friends, on a nice sunny day try to get table on their rooftop.
Went to BiXi for the Owen & Engine 'residency.
' This limited time offer ends in March 2024 and is only served on Mondays and Tuesdays. Since this is the 2nd best burger in all of Chicago, it really should be a full-time menu item. It would be a crime against humanity if this burger were to vanish once again from the tables of Chicago's meat-eating public. This patty is something to behold with respect and reverence. At first glance, it is massive. Upon further investigation, the crispy, yet subtle char on the outside compliments the super juicy and flavorful meaty inside. Perfectly seasoned and expertly cooked to medium, this burger was served on an ideal protein delivery system. With the juices spreading across the plate, I feared the bun would fall apart in battle. But, NAY! Not only did it survive; it thrived under the pressure and soaked up all the juicy goodness. Every bite of this masterpiece was a warning shot across the bow of every other burger baron in the Chicagoland area. The ratios of bun:meat, meat:cheese, and onions:meat harmonized like Simon & Garfunkel in Central Park. Also, the Toffee Caramel Date Cake was excellent! Go. Make your reservation. Don't let this opportunity pass you by. Call your congresspeople and demand that the Owen & Engine burger resides permanently on the BiXi menu. Do it for the kids! Do it now.
