Old fashion neighborhood feel. Small, cozy and somewhat intimate with an eclectic atmosphere. The food was fresh and very good, the prices were quite reasonable. We are well traveled people in our late 70s and this little spot is a find

I live in Portland and this is my favorite restaurant. Anything they do with chicken is amazing. Healthy options available plus old favorites. Nice wine and always good service.

After taking the Portland City Cruise, we were looking for some great food, on our last night in town. After checking online, I came up with this place, as an option, because it was open late. A lot of restaurants, seem to close early, near the downtown area. I was happy to find a restaurant, that stayed open late. It said they were open until 1:00 am. When we got there, it was around 10:30 PM, and we were nicely greeted. The place is small and cozy, with colored mood lighting, at night. Definitely an intimate, and relaxing dining experience. They also had a big, area in the back, that had tables to eat outside. One of the owners, explained to us the menu and options, we were thinking about trying. I was amazed at the prices, as they were very decent. We wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered more than we could eat, in one sitting. We tried the chicken parmigiana, lasagna, mushroom raviolis, spaghetti with bolognese sauce, and chicken alfredo. The meal was brought to the table, with a complimentary side of house-made ciabatta bread, served with olive oil & balsamic, for dipping. That bread was amazing! I used it to scrape up any bit of sauce, left behind. When there was no more sauce, to be sopped up, I ate it by itself. We were so surprised, when we found Squirt soda, on the menu. We love Squirt soda, and never see it on any restaurant menus. Let me just say, that whole meal was FIRE! Everything tasted so fresh, and flavorful. You could taste the fresh cream, used to make the alfredo & mushroom ravioli sauce, and alfredo. The owner was so sweet, as he knew how much I liked the bread, so he gave me a loaf to go, on the house. We weren't able to eat all of the food, so it got packed up, and we took it back to the hotel with us. Let me give you an idea, of how good the food was to us. The next day, was our last day in Portland. We checked out of the hotel, around noon. We had to putter around, until we had to go to the airport, about 6:00pm. We literally, had carried the food around with us all day, and a plane ride back home. There was NO WAY, I was throwing that food away. I put it in the fridge, when we made it back to our hometown, and prayed that it would be still good ,(and good for my stomach), when I reheated it. I happily reheated the food, as if we hadn't let it sit out for hours. (Not recommended to eat food that hasn't been refrigerated for hours. I'm crazy like that, and have a stomach of rocks.) That food was still FIRE, and we tore it up! lol That's how good that food was to us. lol Such a nice spot to eat, with amazing food, and great people working there. This will always be the first restaurant I eat at, when visiting Portland. Peace, Love & Pasta! The Squirt Soda lovers, have spoken.

Four of us went for dinner, and it exceeded expectations. The place is both rustic and charming. The attitude and attentiveness of the staff were professional, warm, and welcoming. And the food did not disappoint either. Wide range of options, fairly priced, delivered pipiing hot, and plated perfectly. Lots of options in Portland, this should be on your list.

we decided to try somewhere we hadn't been to and it got some good reviews. We ordered the Lasagna, the chicken fettuccine and the chicken scaloppini. All were so fresh with big portions and delicious. This is a classic, old school Italian place. Not fancy, but a great find that we will be back for. Even the focaccia came as a huge loaf with sun dried tomatoes and olives.

Bocci's is open....it's small and limits the # of ppl, so dont be afraid! Go EAT! I am Italian, have eaten meals in Italy and make my own recipes....and i was thrilled. Calamari (holy heck marinara!), lasagna, meatballs that melted in your mouth, and deconstructed tiramisu...with Prosecco. Their lasagna is a large helping, from the traditional recipe of many noodles, sausage gravy (sauce) cheese and herbs. You wont finish it. The staff was incredibly friendly and fun. We sat just across from the kitchen (I personally recommend) so we got to see every piping hot plate the chef prepared. That was almost as much fun as our own orders. They have a small patio but it wasnt open for seating due to the weather. Hoping they get some heaters as I would LOVE to eat a super hot delicious dish during a chilly Portland night. Many more dishes to try and we will be back!

Well, I have been driving by this hidden treasure in plain site for years. Top notch Italian. The meatballs were gone before I could take a photo, as was the antipasto salad. The waiter brought ceasar salad for all and kept bread on the table the whole time we were eating. We were there at 5pm on Saturday and it was already starting to fill. The chicken marsala, the salmon ravioli and the shrimp linguini were excellent... if I understand the menu, they only have two pizzas and two calzones. For pizza, Margarita and Combo. I brought a combo home for my son. Thin crust, spot on. I need to return to try a handful of specialties. Looking forward to that.
Be the first to Replywonderful neighborhood Italian restaurat
I'd been driving past this tiny unobtrusive place for years and we finally decided to stop in for an early dinner on the way home from work on a Wednesday evening. The staff was welcoming, efficient and very friendly, the room was small with booths, sort of homey feeling, and quiet enough for conversation. The food was very good -- the Bolognese was especially satisfying -- clearly made by someone who knows what he's doing with it -- as were the meatballs and marinara. (They have gluten free pasta options). I was very pleasantly surprised and will definitely return. Note, the Wednesday and Thursday night special is a three-course dinner -- starter, entree, dessert -- for $20; given the quality of the food, the generosity of the portions and warmth of the room and the staff, quite the bargain.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place great food, terrific staff.
We have our company dinners here and they are great, very clean and friendly. The waiter did not use an order pad to take our 10 orders and got them all right. We will be back again.
