I ate at the Boulevard many times, and was always impressed
I ate at the Boulevard many times, and was always impressed with the quality of food, the presentation, the service and the overall ambiance It's still a fantastic restaurant but I was surprised that the flavors were a bit off I a couple of dishes The appetizer- tuna carpaccio was so spicy - it was hard to enjoy it. I'm sure the flavor was there but the spice overload was killing it Then the lamb... maybe it's my fault- I ordered medium , without asking what the chef recommended, but it was tough and I wasn't able to enjoy it , so ate just a few bites The dessert- it was delicious, but the presentation was as if I were in a diner. I would expect a more sophisticated arrangement of the components so it was more artistic and eye appealing My favorite dish was the scallops appetizer, which were perfect ( my boyfriend has ordered them and I was sorry to be stuck with my carpaccio) I hope in my next visit I'll be just as impressed with all the components of the dining experience as I was before last nights dinner.
Be the first to ReplyUsed to be such an amazing place and deserving of the cost.
Sadly, the quality of the food has gone down significantly over the past few years. Went in here recently with girlfriends for lunch, my chicken was undercooked (yuck, and especially crazy given the price) and my friend's steak was sadly overdone and had the opposite problem. The ambiance is beautiful, the service is great, but its hard to stomach the cost when the food is just meh.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful and classic restaurant with great food and drinks.
The service was phenomenal, the food mouthwatering, and the atmosphere incredibly chill. We had a fantastic time on our date night here.
Be the first to ReplyThe vibe is Michelin Star restaurant on Mission in SF.
Carlye warmly greeted us She recommended the Pea Soup & Pork Chop! Gina served us. She is super fun! Great friendly energy! Ordered the Scallops. Wow! Perfectly seared. Escargot. Artichoke hearts. Mini garlic toast! Scrumptuous! Pea Soup. Soufflé. Yes, a delish soufflé avec king crab. Soooo good! Pork Chop. Ze pièce de résistance! So hearty! Satisfying and tantalizing flavors. Affogato dessert. Hints of Asian influence. Superb! Assiete de Fromage. A wonderful way to end every meal! Super big mega thanks to Gina & Carlye! The ambiance, the service, and the cuisine was just top notch San Fran! Would order everything again! (Maybe next weekend...shhh) Woohoo!
Be the first to ReplyI hosted a 10th anniversary dinner at Boulevard last night.
We had a private room that seats 10. Eli was our waiter. What an amazing experience. The food as expected was amazing. Eli was on attentive, unobtrusive and friendly. If you are looking for a special place for an event, Boulevard continues to be top of the list for San Francisco.
Be the first to ReplyProbably one of THE most gorgeous dining rooms in SF.
The service was hospitable and the ambience gave timeless establishment! We opted into the prix fixe for $119 per person and added the caviar topped sea bass. Each dish was super good and my favorites were the dessert and quail. It gave a very similar vibe to Gary Danko but leans seafood heavy. Wine selection was also really unique and fantastic. Boulevard is great for a date or to impress some in laws!

Great meal! Did the 3 course dinner, which was a little over $100, and enjoyed it. My favorite was the chilled Dungeness crab appetizer, but the scallops entree was also quite good. I was indifferent about the yuzu sundae dessert, which came highly recommended. Really love the interior, which has a great old school NYC steakhouse ambiance. Service was also friendly and attentive. Overall had a great time!
Be the first to ReplyIf you want a fine dining experience with innovative
If you want a fine dining experience with innovative flavors, you must come to Boulevard. This is one of my top restaurants when in the bay area. I got the tuna carpaccio, quail, cheese plate, a half bottle of wine, and a cocktail. Everything on the menu is indulgent and the service is impeccable. They recently changed over to a rotating set 3 course meal. The portions are perfect, and I would go so far as to say that I could randomly choose any dish and I would be satiated. Each dish is cultivated thoughtfully, and the attention to detail is always impressive. 5/5, From a returning guest, this place is consistently good and evolving.
Be the first to ReplySo charming, especially around the holidays.
Great service and delicious meals. Good portions as well. Lovely for a date night.

Perfect place after an event at The Commonwealth Club next door. Food is delicious. Ambience is perfect (bustling but not loud). Service? Impeccable.
Be the first to Reply$119 per person for bland food.
It wasn't bad--it just lacked any flavor. The best of the three courses was the chocolate cake. The pork chop was a little dry and the thin slice of abalone was tasteless.

Enthusiastic and knowledgeable waitstaff (Kudos Desiree F and our bread and wine dudes!) for their fabulous service. Excellent prix fixe options in an elegant dining room with beautifully presented dishes. It's been over 20 years since we last dined in and honestly, I don't know why it took us forever to come back. (Though we did do their takeout Mother's Day Brunch in 2020 and that was also excellent!) A special occasion spot for sure and without an ounce of stuffiness.
Be the first to ReplyI used to stay at the Griffon hotel next door since around
I used to stay at the Griffon hotel next door since around 2016, Boulevard was like a slice of Paris on the Embarcadero. I was just back after they recently renovated, and may I say...it's magnifique!! The ambiance is still the same, luxurious, subdued lighting but not pretentious, with an air of whimsy mixed in with something mysteriously ominous...and peacocks, but only if you look closely. The menu was meticulously put together. We started with the oysters Rockefeller, followed by the hand-made pillows of beet ravioli. Then finished the evening with the braised pork chop, glistening and crusted golden to perfection, still on the bone. The staff is Michelin star worthy, and the kitchen is run like a tight ship. So excited to have this place back in the SF visit rotation. (And Patrick, you made our night...can't wait to see you again!)
Be the first to ReplyLovely interior.
Would recommend asking to sit at the front windows on The Embarcadero. At dusk you have a beautiful view of the Bay Bridge. We could not get and then hold our waiter's attention for the first half of the meal--to be fair service noticeable improved in the second half. But it felt disappointing to not even be able to place our drink orders for 15-20mins, which also meant that we couldn't even get a bread roll since the drink order seems to trigger the bread. I understand that things get busy but if you have hungry people at the dinner hour and you know you have bread and also a Amuse-bouche burata offering at least drop those at the table and let us know it's going to be a moment. There are other little things like the floor being uneven so that the chairs wobble back and forth noticeably. We asked them if they could do anything about it; they replaced our chair and the second one had the same problem. Food is heavy and does not feel refined. It still feels heavy in my stomach the morning after. I understand that is a style of cooking that favors European flavors and richness but I think you can hit these flavor points without it feeling so heavy. Even the one veg entre felt heavy more than satisfying and I was suprised that tiramisu felt dense and heavy for tiramisu. This was unfortunately a disappointing, very expensive dining experience. Note-dinner is a pre fixe menu.
Be the first to ReplyWe tried boulevard for the first time last night.
Upon arriving we were greeted by the hostess that basically told us we can only eat in the dining room if we opt into there $120 prix fixe menu. I have never seen this before at any other restaurant and didn't care for it. She first tried seating us at the bar that faces the kitchen which I told her I wouldn't be eating dinner there and then she sat us in the bar area that had a lot of foot traffic but then she came and got us and moved us to the corner which was much better but we played musical chairs a bit to get there and was strange. She could have just sat us there in the beginning it was clean and empty. Our waitress Leeanna was awesome I give her a 10/10! We ordered drinks that were very tasty. The appetizers weren't very great we got there version of Rockefeller oysters they deep fry which I wasn't big fan of and the raviolis were terrible. For dinner I got the filet mignon steak which was excellent. It came with their version of mashed potatoes and the steak was tender and cooked perfect. Overall I give it a 3 stars as a whole restaurant. Wasn't a fan of the appetizers or the way they try to force you into prix fix menu to dine in the dining room. The appetizers were over priced and not good. The rest of the food and drinks were good, my server was great, they have a cool location but you can only get the view of bridge if you opt into the prix fix menu.
Be the first to ReplyDesiree provided exceptional service, which is rare in fine
Desiree provided exceptional service, which is rare in fine dining establishments these days. She knew the menu, she was personable, friendly, and ensured our dining experience was one to remember. The ambiance of this restaurant was cozy and very prohibition-era feeling. We were very pleased with the flavors and portions of each dish. Desiree shared her recommendations and she DID NOT MISS. Not only did we leave feeling full, we were beyond satiated. Since we were not able to make reservations, we opted for the main dining room; pre-fixe menu was mandatory for the dining area. Luckily, they were able to accommodate six people. The hostess (I forgot her name) was so patient and left a memorable impression. We will definitely return and hopefully have the chance to do a la carte ordering.
Be the first to ReplyHad the BEST dinner at Boulevard with the best of friends.
We got a bottle of wine and tried a few different apps, entrees, and desserts! Each dish was so tasty and had such unique elements to it! I can't wait until I can come back. The restaurant is beautiful too. Great spot for date night or girls night out
Be the first to ReplyVery expensive but would be worth it just for the ambiance
Very expensive but would be worth it just for the ambiance alone. Food and drinks are excellent. Reminds me of a favorite place in Las Vegas.
Be the first to ReplyI LOVED Boulevard! We made the reservation a couple months
I LOVED Boulevard! We made the reservation a couple months in advance on open table. Our reservation was in the lounge/bar area. The nice thing about being seated in this area is you have the option of ordering the set menu or a la carte. We opted to order a bunch of items a la carte and share and were really happy with our decision. Everything was delicious and service was fantastic. We did not feel rushed at all and were able to relax, enjoy our night, order our food in waves.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here a few weeks ago.
I was excited because I'd read sterling reviews. The ambiance was great- really pretty, gorgeous decor. The food was good, not great. Everything kind of tasted like it had sat for a bit before reaching our table. The service is ridiculous. Here's the thing... this isn't a cheap place to eat. We spent over $1,000 for a table of four. Totally happy to do it- if the service was decent.Never were our previous course plates removed. Eventually I was stacking our old plates on the table to make room for the next course. I had to ask for a fresh fork at a certain point and got attitude from the person (not our server). Typically when you dine somewhere with this expectation (or a Michelin star) you expect your previous courses removed when you finish and a fresh fork for your next course. Needless to say there are way too many options to deal with that again.

I'm in love with this place! This is the trifecta -- exquisite cuisine, fantastic service, and beautiful ambiance that transports you into another place and time. While we were given the mixed option of three- or four-course menu for our table, we all opted for the four-course. We started with amazing cocktails followed by a beautiful wine to pair with our dinner choices. We savored every sip and every bite. You'll want to take in every bit of this place. From the spectacular surroundings, the sounds of guests enjoying their time, the flavors of the food and drinks that dance in your mouth, and the incredible service of the friendly staff. Take the time. Spend a little. Live and love life. Cheers!
Be the first to ReplyWe came to celebrate 2 birthdays.
Front staff greeted you warmly. Wait staff was nice. They presented birthday kids with signed birthday cards. Such a nice touch. Menu was 3 course prix fixe $119 per person with supplemental charges for certain dishes. You're started off with selection of 4 breads. I liked the olive loaf slices. Then hummus with crackers and endive. I really like the hamachi appetizer. My Artic char was cooked perfectly, fresh, tender, moist, well seasoned. I wanted to go into the kitchen to learn how they cooked this dish so well. The rice with it was good but the Chanterelles were cold, bland, flavorless. I almost didn't want to eat them except I love Chanterelles. It's as if it was dried mushrooms, hydrated cold, and plated. The chocolate molten cake was good with the chocolate and caramel ice creams. I should have ordered their pear tart, which was really good. Other entrees included the pork chop which birthday kid stated was the best pork chop ever tried. Rack of lamb was another favorite, supplement charge. Service is always excellent the times we've been back to Boulevard.

This is another long time San Francisco restaurant, featuring menus with fresh local ingredients. I used to work here when it first opened and I could tell you that the quality is all there it is what I consider probably the best restaurant in San Francisco.
Be the first to ReplyBoth appetizers: hamachi and octopus were fresh and good.
But its entree: rack of lamb was salted and little dry even though my order was medium rare. The desserts were just ok.
Be the first to ReplyWow! We used to go here back in the late 90s and early 00s
Wow! We used to go here back in the late 90s and early 00s and loved it but now... the interior design/ambience is incredible. Puts you right in the mood to order and they have everything you could want for a perfect treat yourself experience... maybe get some caviar while you're there.Enjoy! I wish I was you about to eat there right now!
