A must when in San Diego :-D
Friends had already taken me over some time ago, it was a great experience so I was very happy to go back. Even if I knew the fish is excellent, I ordered a burger (my boyfriend liked it so much he almost stole it from me ... hahaha!!!) and it was delicious. Our friends ordered calamari fo share so we got a little bit of everything. Not to mention the desserts ... yummy!!! Let me say if an Italian says a restaurant is good, it really is because we are so fussy about food. And I have to say we were attended by the sweetest and most professional waitress - I hope I remember her name well, Kelsey ... she has beautiful ginger hair. Thank you so very much for a lovely night.

This visit confirmed what our last one was, a truly enjoyable experience. We had a table with a nice view of the bay, the service was attentive without being overbearing and the food was delicious. This is a large, busy and popular place so make sure you have a reservation to avoid a long wait. There are several other restaurants in the Brigantine family in the same location.
Be the first to Replyfood was ok. service was terrible.
food was ok. service was terrible. seated with no issue. chose to sit outside. staff might want to mention that conversations will periodically be impossible due to jet aircraft noise. They did not mention this. Table was clean but no setup. Ordered apps, apps delivered, still no setup. Asked a passing server for a setup. Waited, No setup. I had to get up, go inside and help myself to a setup from an empty table. Thus, our apps were several minutes removed being hot but still ok. Not even half-way through the apps when entries arrived, compounding the error. For this price, one would expect service slightly north of what is available when ordering a footlong. So many unforced errors.

This review relates to the Top Sail bar. Absolutely appalling service. Ignored, then waited 15 minutes to be served with a glass of wine. Asked if I could plug my iPhone in and was told no, due to ‘liabilities’! Was then offered a seat 10 feet from the bar but told I had to settle my tab and start a new one! Another 15 minute wait. Was going to have food but service was so shocking decided to go. Nobody even acknowledged us leaving. Great location, but worst bar I’ve been to for service in San Diego.

There is 6 of us girls that go on a yearly trip, this year we chose San Diego, was absolutely the best! We were referred to the Brigantine by a friend who had just been there. Wow! It was fantastic, the waiters were top notch, checked on our every need, the atmosphere was spectacular. One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. It is a "Don't miss" if you visit San Diego!

Spectacular view and excellent food! Service was pretty good. We were lucky enough to be seated over looking the ocean and had a perfect view of the sunset.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday lunch
We came here for my birthday and we had a wonderful lunch. At first, I was a little disappointed because we were not given an outside seating even though there were a lot of vacant seats outside. The not-so-friendly hostess said that if we don't have a reservation they can't give us outside seating, which I kinda understand. The only thing that I didn't understand was they gave outside seating to the people who came after us and didn't have a reservation either. I heard the hostess telling them the same thing she told us but they ended up giving them an outside seating…and it's for a table of two also. I wished they could've granted my request since it was my birthday and I did mention it to the hostess. Anyhow, the mood changed because our server, Diana I think her name, was very friendly and very accommodating. We enjoyed the food, they were all very good. We had a wonderful experience except for the hostess who almost ruined my birthday lunch. This is just one hostess who doesn't know how to smile, the other gals were very nice and friendly.
Be the first to ReplyA very memorable lunch at Brigantine (Portside Pier, San Diego)
We had an excellent lunch at Brigantine (San Diego). We were seated on the patio right above the water and overlooking the pier. It was a dream environment. We had their clam chowder, lunch special (Halibut stuffed with crab, sun dried tomato risotto & broccolini) and fish & chips which was the best I’ve ever tasted. We have only great comments to say about the above dishes. For dessert we had the mud pie and bread pudding, both are very memorable. We will make going to Brigantine a tradition when we go to San Diego. We can’t forget our server, Merry C., she was very pleasant and helpful!

We had a great table on the deck for brunch. Loved watching boats and planes go by. Service was really good. There are more lunch than breakfast items on their brunch menu. As a pescatarian, there were only two items for me to choose between. My omelet was good. His chicken and waffles was dry... but had good flavor
Be the first to Replylovely early evening meal
We went for an early dinner and sat at the bar as there was no wait for the bar or high tables. The atmosphere was lovely and the food to die for. It was a misty overcast day but the ocean views are lovely, I'm sure they would be even better on a clear day. We are visiting from the UK and love how friendly the local people and servers are. We ate oysters and Ahi tuna and it was faultless. Wine was very nice too. special call out to Steven the Irish bartender and his colleague Angel who were both lovely and great at their job, If we lived in the area we would be regulars!
Be the first to ReplyLovely waterfront lunch
After a pleasurable couple of hours at the Maritime Museum, we were in the mood for a seaside lunch. This is a tastefully elegant place for seafood and a beautiful waterfront view. Gorgeous-looking bar. We had excellent lobster rolls (almost as good as being in Maine, but nothing beats Maine lobster fresh off the boat) with truffle fries, and our son's fish & chips were faultless. Service was excellent, our server kept the coffee cups full. Not too crowded at 2 p.m. This was the splurge meal of our trip, lunch for 3 with non-alcoholic beverages came at $95 before tip.
Be the first to ReplyIncredibly good food and service
If you love Brussel sprouts, you'll think you died and went to heaven. The charred brussels are exquiste. We ordered a handful of appetizers and shared them. Every single bite was a visit to paradise. I cannot wait to go back there. It can take some time to get a table, but the servers are so nice and so considerate you end up not caring. The ambience - even with the crowds - is convivial coastal. Worth going to.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful dinner & service.
Handy location on the waterfront when touring San Diego. We waited ~1/2 hour for a table to open & had wonderful cocktails, oyster appetizer, dinner, & dessert. My husband is quite sensitive to strong spice and our waiter, Forest, was excellent in guiding him for the best selections. We both has substitution requests, which were nicely fulfilled. The atmosphere was pleasant, watching the sunset over the harbor and the service was very attentive. Food was well-prepared and very tasty!

No matter what time you go to this restaurant - it is full. It is located at the harbor (close to the Star of India Ship Museum) and also the cruise ship port. Two of us had the Cobb Salad with crab and shrimp which was good size and very filling. The person I was with had the “special of the day” which was fish. She reported it was very good but a little expensive at $45. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with good service.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a desappointment...
We came with 6 people for business. The setting is pleasant but the waiter is arrogant... And unable to take an order properly, I order a dark beer, I end up with a blonde... Well let's move on. The dish arrives, the ingredients on the menu are not on the plate. The prawns taste like nothing.

Beautiful setting on the pier and delicious seafood. Started off with the calamari strips appetizer, and the oyster shooters that come with or without pepper flavored vodka. I had the swordfish dinner that came with Parmesan risotto and broccoli. The fish was melt in your mouth fresh. My wife had the Cioppino that was a large bowl filled with seafood. Delicious and the meals cost $36 and $19.50, respectively. It was wine Wednesday so all bottles were 50% off. We tried the Brigantine Pinot Noir ($40) that was very tasty. The staff is friendly and efficient. A memorable experience!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food, Great Views, Great Waitstaff
Ate here weekend of December 10. I had steak and lobster. Great filte mignon, very tender and flavorful. Overall a good value as far as expensive dishes go. Other entrees our group had were also enjoyed. Very efficient and courteous waitress. She was right on top of things. Was able to see the Disney Cruise ship take off and sunset. Not cheap, but much better than the Anthony's Seafood that it replaced. Lots of glass and has an upstairs area, too. Overall a great experience.
