Be the first to Replyfull service grocery in m midtown
We use Brooklyn Fare on W 37th when we come to the city. It is an excellent urban grocery store but has narrow aisles and is frequently busy. Pricing is often hard to read and buyer beware -- the print is small and some signs may be misleading as to actually what is on sale or not as placement on packed shelves can be tricky. We double and triple check our receipts to make sure of the pricing. Any mistakes are handled quickly. Staff is friendly and helpful so ask questions if you do not find something on the first pass. The chef's bar offers prepared foods and looks wonderful. Prices and sales are worthwhile. Also the loyalty club is a good idea if you are in the city frequently. Be the first to ReplyA grocery store that has everything and anything you need
I was visiting NY for a few days and was staying near 39th street. I visited this grocery store that was within walking distance from my hotel, because my hotel had a kitchenette and I could stock up on food. This store has everything you can possibly need. The store does not look big from the outside but as I was going around inside, it seemed like I was never going to get to the exit.
The staff was also very friendly and helpful, and also very hardworking. I saw them restock items all the time each time I went. The food was also very fresh and there were many options. There was also cooked dishes that you could order on the spot. They also had discounts for various items. I bought ten yoghurts for $10.
I would highly recommend this store. I wish I had this store in my own neighbourhood.
A nice grocery store with lots of pre-made dishes. Worth a visit
It's a labyrinth of aisles, but a large selection of groceries, specialty foods, etc. Towards the end of the "maze", there is a section with great home-made dishes, cheeses, salads, etc. Great, for example, if your hotel has an oven or even a microwave. Great choices. I will definitely go back.
Be the first to Replylots of choices at good prices for NYC
This is a great urban grocery store with a wide range of offerings. The aisles are narrow but that should not stop anyone from trying out this site, As a source for fresh foods as well as packaged selections, it is 'chock full' of the choices visitors or locals will want. The hot bar has many good dishes for those who have tired of restaurant food. It is obvious the chef in charge is very good. The fresh meats look wonderful. There is a good selection of local beers and wine. Their web site is good for ordering and delivery is an option. Some of the hotels offer pick up. Homewood Suites will take your list, shop for you and then charge it to your room all as a free service.
Be sure to join the Brooklyn Fare loyalty club as the pricing gets even better for members and its free to join. Points can be used for discounts once you reach an attainable level. We found most of what we needed here and will definitely go back. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. If you find this information helpful please click the link below to let us know.
Our Favorite NYC Grocers!
Open 7 days a week from 7 to 11, Brooklyn Fare has everything from fresh produce to artisan breads and cheeses. It is also close to the Port Authority—a great breakfast stop when you arrive in the city! Tip: when the weather permits, you can enjoy your coffee on their curbside patio.
Be the first to ReplySuper clean and fresh market
This southerner in NYC for extended weekend to see a play and staying in an apartment in midtown. Walked through several markets that were just disgusting...Then found Brooklyn Fare. Fruit was fresh...looked appealing...butcher area was great...some nice prosciutto...fresh bagels...soft drinks...and at a reasonable price. This is where I’d shop if I lived here!

I arrived in New York City less than a week ago, and I asked a colleague WHERE DO LOCALS SHOP? He immediately gave me the address for Brooklyn Fare and off I went. Tom Thumb or Kroger it is NOT, but the wide variety of foods, beverages, and prepared eats is great -- and keeping me happy while working!
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievable let down
I have to say for all 4 of us this was disappointing, the service was impeccable but the dishes....... lacking to say the least. We run the gamut on Michelin ratings and I’m not sure how this is in the caliber.... when the crab and tomato dish was your highlight out of 14 courses ( aside from the Kobe which was excellent but if you screw that up hang up your hat) $600 a person with a wine pairing and that was the best you can do I will rethink why people get michlen stars . I have dined at bouley, per se, le bertadin, John George, French laundry , eleven Madison and can say they deserve a star or three but This place I wouldn’t wouldn’t even give s second chance. How disappointing!!
