living in new orleans, it's difficult to find comparable home cuisine outside of the city. i'll spare you the "walking in i was transported to bourbon street and a quaint little restaurant off the beaten path" ... the ambiance is reminiscent of nola textures, but it could have used music authentic to the area to tie the senses together.sitting at the bar, the tenders were attentive and friendly from the start. great service throughout.for dinner i had the bbq shrimp with jalapeño grits and the biscuits. biscuits come with 4 and are huge and heavenly - fluffy with just the right amount of honey without turning it into dessert. the butter was so good that it easily reduced the biscuit to nothing more than a vessel to shovel butter into my mouth. now the bbq shrimp. i normally skip this on the menu at home, just not a fan of this usually one dimensional dish, but since it was served with jalapeño grits and andouille sausage i had to give it a try. it is easy to mistake this for shrimp and grits, ITS NOT! the differentiator is the sauce. this is definitely a bbq sauce, and a damn good one. the pairing with the andouille sausage gives a good kick, and the grits were oh so smooth. don't be intimidated by the jalapeño, it isn't that spicy. some baby heat, but no real bite. it's safe for the intolerant palette. this will easily become my comfort food when i visit. only recommendations are theme music and add a mezcal drink to the menu! sazarec is fine, but mezcal is becoming more of a nola staple! great job with this one though, can't wait to come back for the chicken.
