We were looking for something different.
This was it. I love the speakeasy decor. I love the door which has a bookshelf facade. The bathroom is as clean and old newspaper print on the walls. Very cool. I had the ABQ turkey. It was very good and full of flavor. The green chili bacon was mild and very good. Also love the sweet potato fires. My son had the BYO burger. The burger was great. Lots of flavor and cooked just right. My hubby had the French toast with sausage and 2 eggs. The French toast was good. The sausage was spicier than expected. It didn't pair well with the sweet French toast. Joshua was our server. He was great. He was helpful answer questions and making suggestions. It's a little pricey but a nice change from the usual brunch places. We also had entertainment.

Food and ambiance (sitting outside on their patio) was great on a Sunday morning, although I gave 4 stars based on service. It seemed like they were short staffed so it took awhile for our group to be helped.
Be the first to ReplyBest coffee ever.
had breakfast and the food was great. Eggs benedict cooked perfectly. Service was excellent also. Can't wait to go back.

Santa Brunch - HUGE disappointment Steep price of $25 a person but it's Christmas so hey... it's worth it right? We arrived on time to be told we would have to wait 30 minutes for our reservation. So the manager tried to make it right saying we would get 20% off our bill. Then I saw the Santa. Fake beard. You know how sensitive this can be if you're a parent. These people are about to ruin the magic of Santa with poor execution. Still... I remained positive. My son did not like his "berry stuffed French toast." Why? Well there were NO berries and umm it was not stuffed. Bread was not high quality. My huevos rancheros was a joke. I would've preferred Frontier any day of the week to this joke. Green Chile wasn't even Chile. I didn't even eat it... wasn't worth my calorie waste. My husbands posole was the size for a small child. The whole Santa brunch was a joke. $25 a person was just a ploy for money. Poor execution. Food was a joke. The service was superb and I don't fault the staff.. they were great but we will not be back.
Be the first to ReplyDecided we wanted to try a new place for breakfast.
Oh how I wish we went to one of our usual spots. First off the decor is dated and they can't decide if they want to be cozy or edgy. The black walls from Vernon's are present (hate). Then they have edgy modern artwork that doesn't fit with the black walls and red curtains. The bar has a piece that looks like it came from hobby lobby not fitting in with the modern artwork or speakeasy black walls. Our waitress was very nice and present. Unfortunately, the food was a complete let down. My entire breakfast plate was cold, cold chile, unmelted cheese, cold hash browns. The plates we ordered were supposed to come with beans but our waitress informed us that they weren't ready yet. They arrived later when everyone was almost done eating only to find they were stodgy and undercooked. My husband compared them to cardboard. Such a disappointment because the area is great. I would not recommend nor would I return.

.. Princess Peach Peach, you're so cool... And with my star, we're gonna rule Peach, understand... I'm gonna love you 'til the very end Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches I love you, oh As we did Cafe 6855... It was a dusty day pulling into 6855 at the crack of 11... We shared for lunch... Served by our lovely Hostess "Season"... French Dip, of Vernon's prime rib, caramelized onions, mushrooms, Swiss Cheese accompanied by sweet onion au jus (it was so juicy good..:)...w. Truffle Fries.... Washed down w. a glass of Pinot Grigio for the Lass and an Espresso Martini for the Lad. Adding mellow vibes...was live guitar music... Exactly what these Old Folk needed to get on to their day off.. Nu?...:) Mario, Luigi, and a Donkey Kong too... A thousand troops of Koopas couldn't keep me from you... Princess Peach, at the end of the line... I'll make you mine..oh..:) Best, Avram J. Black Jr.
Be the first to ReplyOn our first visit to Cafe 6855, we were very impressed.
The staff was exceedingly helpful, kind and professional, much more so than we normally encounter. The food was very good and we found it to be a unique twist on some traditional items. We did, however end up visiting during a fixed menu brunch special, and we thought prices were higher than we'd expect. Even so, we'd definitely return to check out their full menu and enjoy the great food.
Be the first to ReplyEveryone who works here is helpful and knowledgeable.
The food is delicious. The singer on the patio added a nice ambiance without being intrusive. Can't wait to come back!
Be the first to ReplyThe atmosphere was relaxing.
We sat outside even though it was hot there is shade. Loved the taste of all of our food. The service was great as well. The only thing I didn't like was that there was no diaper changing station, made it really hard to change my baby.
Be the first to ReplyI really don't like being negative.
Especially with such volatile establishments like restaurants. But I think this place may have specifically been designed as a form of torture for me specifically. Some of the food was fine, the chicken and waffles was unfortunately downright bad - had to two-hand that chicken to get a bite off haha. All the servers seemed very nice and personable, but unfortunately the service *was* quite slow. The deco was a bit pretentious, but that is completely personal preference so no fault there. There was a live performer. Which is usually a huge plus! Unfortunately.... My man was just plain struggling. Overall, again I really don't like to be negative. And some of this is up to personal preference. But at the least, the food was not great, and my time wasn't great. My apologies
Be the first to ReplyOk, this is officially my new favorite brunch restaurant!
Ok, this is officially my new favorite brunch restaurant! Arriving during the week shortly after their 11 am opening, my party and I were only accompanied with another couple in the restaurant. I decided to order basic huevos rancheros with scrambled eggs and both red and green chili. To my surprise it was a big plate. In addition to keeping me full, it was so tasty! Service was good. Our waitress made sure we were taken care of. As time went on, the restaurant started filling up and I say that speaks to the popularity of the restaurant! *Bonus- Check in on Yelp, get a 25% off coupon, and show it to you wait staff! It was a significant discount, taking off $10 on our bill!
Be the first to ReplyI love to come to Cafe 6855.
Today, Valentine's Day, I went for lunch only to find it closed. On the door it said open Wednesday through Sunday but on the website and here on yelp it says open on Tuesday. Sad to be given the wrong information and making an unnecessary trip.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I went for brunch on a Saturday.
To quote my wife: "that was the worst meal I've had in a long time." We both ordered omelets and they were WAY overcooked, to the point of being leathery on the outside. The sausage in mine was nearly inedible - large burnt pieces that were hard, while the bacon was flabby and undercooked. We both had hash browns that were cold, but yet burnt on one side and raw on the other.I can't imagine most restaurants serving the meals we received - they did not look appetizing - most cooks (and servers) would know they needed to be remade. Maybe we caught the restaurant on a bad day or with a new cook, but we aren't likely to ever go back. At the end of the meal, with much of our omelettes (and nearly all of the hash browns) still on the plates, our waitress asked if we wanted boxes to take it home. Seriously?
Be the first to ReplyI really want to try this place again! I've only been here
I really want to try this place again! I've only been here once and it was a holiday so I definitely need to try it on a normal day. The service was fairly good. The host did forget my name and also forgot to tell us when our table was ready. But my friend who I was with checked in with them since it has been about 15 minutes of waiting and she said our table was in fact ready for us but she forgot to tell us. Our server was super nice, very friendly and straightforward and honest about his favorites and recommendations. We ordered some mixed drinks and unfortunately no one brought them to us. We had to get up and ask someone to bring them. The drinks were really good once we got them though!! We were there for brunch so we all ordered off the breakfast menu. The French toast was amazing 10/10. The burrito looked great, pro tip get papas instead of hash browns. The breakfast enchiladas were excellent but I ordered my eggs over medium and they came out runny and not even fully cooked. However our server never came over to ask if our food okay so I had to eat around them and move the eggs off my plate. The atmosphere inside this place is funky and chill. Carpet lines the floors and long heavy velvety curtains adorn the walls. It was chilly inside, but it warmed up with the piano player. Though he stopped playing halfway through our meal and packed up...wish he would have stayed! Going to give it another shot and hope for a bit of an improvement, definitely worth a visit.

so i have been here more than a few times and while i do love it; i was a tad bit disappointed on my last visit.my guest ordered a side Caesar salad that came out AFTER we were almost finished with our lunch. No apologies! When I told our server we were almost finished with our lunch, i got a blank stare. AND that is the reason its not 5 stars. the food is fantastic but for the price point, the salad should have been taken off the bill. IMHO the service should be stellar and it wasn't.Oh I will go back of course because the food is wonderful but i will be a lot more cautious and specific when ordering. I know I should have said something but i had a guest with me. after that hiccup our server went MIAI had the half sandwich (meatball) which was portioned just right and pretty darn tasty.
Be the first to ReplyNice Sunday morning brunch with live piano music.
Our waiter gave our group great service. Mimosas were served with chips and salsa followed by a plentiful serving of breakfast food for each of us. Would definitely go back.
Be the first to ReplyWorking to break our lunch rut we found this place.
It's next to Vernon's Speakeasy. Judging by the interior it looks like a brunch extension. It's only open for a small window - 11am - 2:30pm. On the weekends they open at 9am til 2:30. Bonus - they have a Yelp coupon - yay! But according to the manager they no longer accept them - boo. Hint: if you aren't going to accept it take it down. We started with the queso and chips. The queso was thick and loaded with red and green chiles - Delicious. When it comes to entrees the menu covers a lot of ground. We elected the Shrimp Primavera and Green Chile Chicken Alfredo. Both choices were excellent. The Primavera was covered with an abundance of shrimp, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, onion and spinach. The Alfredo sauce was thick. The bowl looked more like Mac and Cheese - not a detractor! There was plenty of chicken and a little bite to it. Great food, excellent service . If you're in the area or just looking for a low key place for brunch give this cafe a shot. You won't be sorry.

Came here with my brother in law and sister in law who had a gift card given to them by their realtor (Dan Vaquera). I'm from out of town, so I was craving some New Mexican cuisine, and this place does not disappoint. We had the rolled enchiladas - Christmas chili style - and it hit the spot. The highlight for us was the ambiance, our server Jessica was incredibly attentive and there was some live music! The pianist is very talented (Karl Z). Great value!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food! Had the smothered burrito with steak.
They are part of Vernon's, so you know it's good!
