Easter dinner
A day in Twente and an overnight stay in Carelshaven were the reason to participate in the Easter dinner. We haven't had such a good meal in years. All courses were exceptionally good and, together with the wine arrangement, very well matched. All courses were special in composition and very surprising. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, so the explanations for each course were very welcome. Conclusion: it was a wonderful evening.

At the beginning of February with two colleagues for dinner and at the beginning of March with my husband for dinner and an overnight stay; It's still a party. The food is delicious and looks fantastic, good service and friendly staff. The overnight stay in a quietly located and well-equipped room was fine. A good extensive breakfast was a nice ending to this beautiful package. I look forward to doing this again in a few months.

On a rainy Friday afternoon we went to lunch with a couple of friends in Delden at Carelshaven restaurant. It turned out to be a private lunch because there were no other customers. The service took some time to warm up, but was friendly and attentive. The fact that we spent more than 4 hours there already indicates that it was pleasant. We enjoyed a 4-course menu, which both gentlemen expanded with a cheese board. The start with the appetizers was excellent. Beautiful snacks that were also deliciously flavored. The two fish dishes that followed were delicious. The fish is not too dry and cooked exactly. The wild pike-perch had a perfectly cooked, very crispy skin. Top. The venison steak that we had as a main course was wonderfully tender. We can conclude that you can still enjoy delicious food at Carelsberg and that the entourage and historicity of the beautiful building is an extra plus.

Months ago I had booked an overnight stay + dinner for the weekend of September 16+17. We were looking forward to it after previous good experiences in previous years. However, we received a call asking if we still wanted to come. Of course! was our answer. And then we were told that there would be a wedding in the hotel that day. We then said: fine, the weather will be nice so we will eat outside on the terrace. And then it was said: that is not possible. Although it will be 26 degrees on Saturday, you can only dine indoors. Then we canceled the booking and asked if they had any tips for an alternative. Then it was said that there is a nice hotel nearby with an all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant opposite. That closed the door for us. Carelshaven only called us because they had an interest and was not at all concerned with giving loyal customers a good weekend. That is why I strongly advise against booking this hotel well in advance because you never know whether they will refer you to an all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant at the last minute with your parents-in-law.

In July we had a lovely dinner outside on the terrace at Carelshaven. We opted for the JRE 8 course menu where different and surprising dishes were served; with fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. Matching wines were also very well combined and the non-alcoholic arrangement was also well matched to the flavors of the dishes. Very friendly staff who made the experience very nice. Highly recommended!

We stayed in this hotel for just one night on out way to a ferry terminal in Ilmuiden. Itโs a 250 year old manor with some modern extensions turned into a hotel by a young entrepreneurial couple. Itโs a part of a Twickel estate. You can have lunch in a castle or visit a modern art museum nearby for which we never had time regrettably. Even though the hotel is situated close to a motorway and threes had no leaves at the time it was surprisingly quiet with little traffic noise. Decor is rather modern and nice, the staff polite and speak good English. Our room was also nice except on this January cold day the radiators were only lukewarm after we turned them on. We should have asked for a heater, we were advised later, when we complained. But we slept very well. The room we had had a nice balcony, useless in winter, overlooking a meadow and some woods in the distance. Very nice. I can imagine an unforgettable Spring, Summer evening there in the setting sun. Car park is quite ample. What sets this hotel really apart is the restaurant. It is mentioned in Michelinโs. We had dinner there. Honestly, I cannot remember the last time we had such a feast. Presentation was truly impressive even if the portions were not particularly large. The bouquet of flavors and aromas was incredibly rich and full. It literally took my breath away. The chef must be a veritable magician. We had some complementary miniscule starters while we waited for the dish we ordered, which was fish. As far as I remember we wanted pike but it was not awailable and we got some sea bass instead, with apologies. Truly delicious! Then we had quince for desert, which in fact was a quince desert. See the photos. Breakfast was only a self service buffet but everything was exquisite including fizzy white wine Prosecco style, except for scrambled eggs, which were ordinary at best. For dinner, rather than a la carte, you could also order a 4-, 6- or 8-course gourmet menu with chefโs specials for โฌ60, 80, 100 (โฌ116, 159, 188 all-in menu with wine) per person. The house wine we ordered was also very decent. I think nex time we travel along this route we will definitely stay there again and-having starved beforehand - will splash out on one of those gourmet menus.
