Be the first to ReplyQuite possibly the best Italian food I've ever had
Quite possibly the best Italian food I've ever had especially the lasagna. Everything we tried was perfection. The salad was a little over dressed but the garlic bread that was served with it compensated for it. The desserts were amazing we tried the cheesecake and this espresso chocolate brownie or maybe it was fudge either way it was delicious The service was great and our server was great as well
Be the first to ReplyService by Laura our server was amazing and pleasant.
Chicken parm was deffinetly overcooked. The manicotti was great good wine and raviolis marinara were descent. Focasia herb bread was great. Water was cold and served with ice.
Be the first to ReplyMan, this was the best place I've ever been in DC.
I'm recruiting a group to go back. Everything was amazing
Be the first to ReplyI would recommend to come eat here.
The food was flavorful but the only thing that needed some improvement was the service. I do recommend the spaghetti and meatballs and the garlic oil and chicken was delicious. Bring a big appetite and your family will be full by the time you are done. Family sized portions of food. The name is Curtis and he was interesting to say the least over all phenomenal.
Be the first to ReplyWe've been to Carmine's several times over the years.
Lunch, dinner, work group lunches and dinner. We recently ordered dinner from Carmine's through DoorDash for my birthday. Stuffed mushrooms, chicken parm, veal scallopine, chocolate cannoli. Can describe all of it with one word...DELICIOUS! The attention to detail from Carmines with securely wrapping and layering all of the food was amazing. We have leftovers for 2 more dinners. If you haven't been...GO! Don't think I've ever read a review in the WaPo by Tom Seitsema on Carmine's, he should check it out.
Be the first to ReplyLovely service.
They do serve cold bread, but other than that the atmosphere & great food & lots of it.

We held a group dinner at Carmine's for the past two years and both times we received impeccable service and generous portions of food served family style. The group events contact perso was very quick to respond and very professional each time we had questions. AND! The price was VERY reasonable. We hope to return to Carmine's each time we host a dinner in DC.

Worst service in my life, the host explained about how it was a family style restaurant and sat us down at a high top table. We tried to get a table but they could not explain why we couldn't. There were open tables for 2 all over so when we tried to seat they told us they were all reserved. We waited to get service for over 30 minutes until we finally left. The tables for 2 were still open by the way. I Wouldn't come here ever again even if the food was free.

Candidly, I usually avoid chains, but I came for dinner with a group visiting D.C. for a social media summit. The organizers picked Carmine's since it's centrally located in Chinatown and host private groups in private rooms. Since there were around 40 of us, we sat at two long tables and servers brought out food family style. Surprisingly, I enjoyed all the food, especially the stuffed mushrooms, chicken Marsala, shrimp in red sauce, and chocolate torte. It was plenty of food and full of flavor. Do locals eat here? I don't know of any, but if you need a decent Italian spot with lots of space for groups, go here!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and even better service.
I wish I got the waitress name but she was excellent. They sang for my fiancรฉ's birthday and she helped us portion out our meal. The food was great and there is a ton of options. Garlic bread, chicken parmigiana and strawberry shortcake were highlights
Be the first to ReplyI dined at Carmines and it was like I was in .
First of the food was horrible the chicken parm tasted like I was eating a lacrosse ball. The cheese obviously wasn't real and looked like it had been thrown up on the chicken. The chicken was soggy when it arrived because of the amount of sauce that had been dumped on it. The chicken wasn't real or it had been in a freezer for as long as captain America was. Overall this restraunt was horrible don't eat here or your toilets will regret it.

I recently dined at carmines , and I have to say it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. The food was terrible, and the service was even worse. To start with, the restaurant was not very clean. The floors were sticky, and the tables were not wiped down properly. The menus were also dirty, which was not a good first impression. When it came to the food, I ordered the spaghetti carbonara, which was a huge disappointment. The pasta was overcooked, and the sauce was bland and lacked flavor. The dish also had an odd smell that was off-putting.
Be the first to ReplyCome hungry because the portions are huge.
This is a family-style restaurant, so come with at least four people. There were three in my party including myself.I could eat just the Chicken Scaloppine with Lemon and Butter. It is so good that I will try the recipe at home. The fried calamari hit the spot. So did the Angel Hair Pasta and Meatballs.Service was quick and accommodating. The only negative is that our order of garlic bread never came. The waiter understandably took it off the bill.Be prepared to bring food home. I highly recommend this restaurant because overall the three of us really enjoyed our dining experience.

If you have an eternity to wait to be seated, order taken, actual food and drink served and boxes and check to be brought back--this place is for you. Half an hour between each action. Drinks brought after the meal was actually served. The focaccia in bread basket--soggy. So is the sandwich bread. Skip this joint--there are better places for the money. This is no diss on servers--they work very hard, but place is understaffed

Food was amazing and the service was above and beyond! Loved the atmosphere. We took our kids there during spring break and they thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyI used to walk by carmines all the time.
I knew it was a dc staple but it never really peaked my interest. Finally, I went today because I unexpectedly had 11 visitors and needed a quick reservation after a wizards game. It was the only place open with availability around there. First off, the hostesses were standoffish, the server was pushing us to get more food than we needed too, and the food was just meh. We ordered the calamari and mussels to start. The calamari was too oily and the mussels sauce tasted burnt. We were going to order 2 pastas, but the server insisted on us getting 3,.The pastas overall were flavorless and too much. We ended up leaving with 3 full containers of to go boxes. Overall, I appreciated that they had the availability last minute, but I would not go here again. I would not recommend.

Huge family style portions made from "scratch" (so said our waiter).Food was very good. Service was mostly good. Our drink order took some time to arrive as the bar was backed up at 6:15pm on a Saturday night. Also, our bread basket was served "cold" (as our waiter stated it would be). What? No microwave available for 30 seconds? The stuffed mushrooms and lasagna were on point. No room for dessert. We left stuffed with a doggy bag to boot.
Be the first to ReplyIt's takes a lot for me to write a review, good or bad.
My experience at Carmines last evening warrants such an occasion. A dinner party of 14 including 4 children sat down at 530pm. We didn't not receive our entrees until 645pm. All of us received an initial drink order, only a few were offered additional drinks. The children were very hungry when the food finally arrived. We notified management of our challenges of the evening that included the Birthday Girl not getting the same celebration that was witnessed at other tables...he asked if we needed them to sing! All of that and the food was just ok! First time at Carmines and the LAST! There are plenty of other Italian Restaurants in the DMV, don't choose this one!

Ok so I was surprised how big the bar area is, that is the first thing that caught my eye. Not the biggest selection but I managed to get the happy hour cosmo and I recommend it. The calamari was a 6. Not gonna lie I had higher expectations. The pasta however did make up some ground. Thank you to my waitress who suggested the lunch portion. It was perfect for me to eat and have enough for a taste later.
Be the first to ReplyWent here for my birthday with a large group of 12 people.
Had a terrible experience, service was bad..food was not good. The only thing I enjoyed was the bolognese. Our bill was nearly $1000 and it was not a good experience and the manager was not response to our complaints and brushed me off in a very dismissive manner. I wouldn't recommend this place. Save your money and go elsewhere...even maggianos food is better and never misses the mark on family style!Thank me later.

Amazing happy hour!! We went here before the caps game on Sunday night and had great service and amazing food and drinks! Very close to capital one area. Give this place a try if you're in the area or headed to an event at the arena!
Be the first to ReplyThe prices are criminal! $30 for a plate of buttered
The prices are criminal! $30 for a plate of buttered noodles, $40 more for two pounded out chicken breasts... which by the way you get to cut up and serve out to the table yourself. Somehow they get away with this laziness by calling it "family style." The reality is it's a lot more work and if you want to order something YOU want for YOU, just forget it because everything is portions for 4 or 5 people. Don't come here with picky kids because you will have to order for the lowest common denominator at your table. What a joke. Can't imagine what an idiot I would feel like if I showed up with just one companion. Did I forget to mention $15 for a pitcher of club soda? Absolutely insane. I hated this place, can you tell??
