Food good but be prepared to wait a long time for it
Before we'd even sat down, we were told 3 times they would need our table after 90 minutes. OK, no problem. We'd already looked at the menu online and knew what we wanted. We also only ordered entrees (not apps, salads, desserts, etc). Two entrees (1 steak and 1 pasta) for 4 of us, and we ordered not long after being seated. The waitress even said "that's it? that's all you want?". However, the food took literally *60 minutes* to get to our table. (We'd even asked our waitress to either bring out one of the entrees ahead of the other if it was ready, or a small bowl of pasta or something for my youngest son to start eating, but that didn't happen). So 60 minutes after we ordered, the food came out, yet they expected us to scarf down two humongous plates of food in less than 30 minutes, in order to stick to the time "allotment" they'd given us? My youngest son actually got a stomachache because he came a little hungry, then had to wait an hour, then ate too much too fast once his food arrived. The food IS good, but if you come here, make sure you & your party are all OK with waiting a long time for it.
Be the first to ReplyVery exceptional dining experience.
Many time return patron. Very exceptional dining experience, as always. Nothing like it in the city.
Be the first to ReplyCarmine’s was just awful the worst food I have ever had…..
Carmine’s was recommended so we booked it for our sons 18th birthday. The atmosphere was terrific however the food was most probably the worst food I have ever been served. The calamari was so chewy and was served Luke warm. We ordered their speciality which was bland Chicken dish. Even the pasta dish which was impossible to get wrong was not hot and frankly tasteless. Could not wait to get out of the place…..Please do waste your time or money. So disappointing the place was busy but really don’t go here.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food but way too loud!
Excellent food! Waiter, Edwin, was really good. Atmosphere was loud and we met up with some friends from NYC and were visiting and got asked to leave because they needed the table. That was disappointing. Yet, Overall it was a great experience.
Be the first to ReplyWow wow wow
Wow wow wow!!! We booked to come here based on seeing some TikTok videos and we were not disappointed!!! We waited for our table at the bar and I had a lemon drop cocktail and my husband ordered a bottle of red wine…it was absolutely packed out…we ordered our food lemon chicken and Angel hair pasta in garlic and butter…the portion size is huuuuugggggeeee!!!! Take your appetite with you…fab service, decent prices
Be the first to ReplyThe best Italian food experience after theatre.
Fabulous dinner after a play. Within walking distance. The food is amazing. Best meatballs you can eat. The lasagna was superb. The spiiedini could not be beat. The most flavorful and tender chicken scarpariello . No better broccoli rabe anywhere. Finally, the bread pudding, again, fabulous.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect New York dinner
Wow. Right across from many of broadway’s most popular plays, this is the heart of Times Square. The food was excellent. We ate at the bar and the whole experience was just delightful, and while not cheap, it was less expensive than it could have been. A real bargain. We loved our meal here and cannot wait to return.
Be the first to ReplyAn excellent lunch before a show!
Even though it was absolutely packed, we had excellent service and food! Can't wait to come back! I think it would be more of an experience with a group larger than just the two of us. I didn't realize when I made the reservation for my friend and I that it was family style even for just two people. I think you should make that clearer on your website. It was delicious and next time, we'll bring more friends!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Birthday Dinner!
Our dinner was excellent, and our waiter Asif was amazing! There was not much waiting. The location of the restaurant was very close to our hotel and the theater where we watched our ply. Every time we vit New York we visit Carmine's. Can wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat quick stop for appetizers
We stopped in after a show for a quick bite and despite not having a reservation was given spots at the bar. Bartender was friendly and explained the menu well. The portions are gigantic so we did not order dinners but the stuffed mushrooms and the clam appetizer were both good and large enough we probably should have ordered one or the other as we left some uneaten. Would definitely recommend for families.
Be the first to ReplyFood is Delicious
The food is delicious!! Our family ate the chicken parmigiana, the serving size is enough for a family of four. No complainants:)

While visiting Manhattan July of this year my Sister took me and my wife to Carmine's for lunch. Since we are from Brooklyn originally, but have lived in Northern California since 1972 we were craving good Italian food. we were not disappointed . The food and service were great.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible food, horrible waitress
We as a family had a terrible experience in this restaurant with the food & with our waitress, the food was very poor & the waitress was very rude, which we do NOT expect when we are on vacation from Scotland & I must say it’s the only time that someone was rude to us in New York, needless to say we will never go back to this restaurant but we will definitely be back to New York which we loved.
Be the first to ReplyGreat not excellent
Good authentic food, huge portions, too much salt. A bit pricey and overrated, the waitstaff behaved like hustlers. It was overdone, the whole experience. I will try it again to see consistency. Overall good eats.
Be the first to ReplyGREAT VALUE, FOOD AND SERVICE
Food is served family style. We had a group of 4 people. We ordered a fish, meat and pasta. We had plenty of leftovers. Good food for the price.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing. Not worth the hype
Hoping for a traditional Italian/American dining experience. We were met at the door by two unfriendly 'bouncer type' doormen. They were impolite and unwelcoming. We were shown to our table where 'the bread guy' plonked our bread down without saying a word and with a face like thunder. Our waiter hardly spoke. Ragu was OK. Complimentary bread was the tastiest part. £85 for the meal which I wouldn't mind but it was very ordinary, unremarkable and totally lacking in service. The establishment looks nice but really not worth the excitement. Wouldn't recommend.
Be the first to ReplyI wanted to like Carmine's
We went right after watching a Broadway show. I wanted to Uber down to Little Italy, but my wife had been to Carmine's before and she liked it. So we went, all five of us. Carmine's has a great atmosphere. But it was a disappointment. Our waitress, Emely, started selling right at the start. Pushing specials and drinks and appetizers. We had questions about the menu, which seemed to bother Emely. She really seemed like she didn't want to deal with us. Three kids ordered soft drinks and couldn't get refills because Emely was elsewhere. I ordered a beer that Emely apparently forgot about, and it never came. Service is so important, no matter how good the food is or how good the atmosphere is. And our service sucked. Next time, I'll Uber down to Little Italy.

What a Buzzing place! Food was so delicious 😋 Portions are HUGE so definitely meant for sharing. Staff are very friendly
Be the first to ReplyHuge Portions and Great Food
This restaurant is known for their family style meals and they mean it. We got the chicken carbonara and chicken parmigiana to share between the 3 of us and probably ate half of both. It was so good! The service was fast as well. We loved the bread basket that had a variety of a few different breads before our meal.
Be the first to ReplyWhen they say big portions...they mean huge. Great experience.
When they say big portions ... they mean gigantic. We ordered the bolognese meat ragu with penne pasta and garlic bread. Well the pasta came in a catering size platter fit for a buffet table to cater for 12. As for the garlic bread (with cheese) it was 12 slices of carb heaven. The food was superb tasty, really well seasoned, excellent depth of flavour. I would suggest you need at least 4 people to truly take advantage of the portions. Exceptional experience.
Be the first to ReplyIt's a one time experience
Everyone needs a down and dirty NYC experience and this is a good one to have. The food is good, service is decent and the wine list isn't too bad either.. It's very loud and I could see it being overwhelming for some people but I think it's a really lively atmosphere. It's nice that everything is family style but the portions are so big that it limited our ordering so as not to waste a ton of food. I would have loved to have tried more. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be really enjoying themselves
Be the first to ReplyHighly recommend!
Beyond fantastic experience to celebrate our daughter's 16th birthday. Cannot speak highly enough of the service, ambiance, food, cleanliness & GREAT TIME!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Dinner Twice
My girlfriend and I were visiting for business and a show and absolutely loved Carmine’s. We had a salad special and a salmon special and liked them so much we came back for the same things two nights later. We loved the bread too, which you need to finish their fantastic sauces. Be careful, it’s family style, so share and bring a big appetite. Service was also superb, and the dining room with the vintage pictures was interesting.
Be the first to ReplyGood Food but Impersonal
We had a 6:00 reservation but weren't seated until almost 7:00. Why have a reservation if this is what to expect??? While waiting, the bar area is so crowded that you feel like you are in the way. You can't even sit and relax with a drink because it is 4-5 people deep with staff trying to move throughout the space. It was a very stressful way to start the evening. Thank goodness that we came after our show and not before or we would never had made it on time.
The food is served family style. We ordered 3 entrees (chicken parm, veal and a pasta dish) for a family of 5. We took half of it home. We could easily have had a pasta and one entree and been completely satisfied.
The food is good in a home cooked way. It is not inventive or what I would consider fine dining. It is satisfying comfort food that is not much different than what I make at home.
The staff was friendly. It is very crowded. The line is incredibly long just to get inside. And, yes, you have to wait in line even if you have a reservation. I think they take reservations just to make sure you come but do not think that means you will be seated anywhere close to the time you arrive.
Italian at its finest
You simply cannot come to New York without eating here. We went without having made reservations but were seated quickly. The drinks, food, and service was superb in every way. The portions are huge so plan to share and arrive early if you don’t have reservations.
