Casa D' Angelo Ristorante Aspen Reviews
Buonasera Tonight we dined at the wonderful Casa D'Angelo.
We arrived early on a Friday night. They open at 6pm for dinner. We arrived around 6:30pm without reservations. We were fortunate to get the last two seats at the bar, and we were sat right away. I believe all tables were booked for the entire evening. So I felt very blessed and fortunate that we were able to be seated at the bar. We had the hamachi carpaccio. It was prepared in a wonderful apricot sauce. Very tasty. Next we had the Aspen salad. Which was also fantastic. It came with a frozen goat cheese sorbet. I found the frozeness of the goat cheese to be a fascinating aspect of this dish. It makes me think of Aspen in winter because the frozen aspect reminds me of snow. It's beautiful how it melts like snow melting in the spring. The salad featured cranberry, which gave a nice bright zing. All of the ingredients were spectacular together. I highly recommend the Aspen salad, for it is uniquely delicious. Next we indulged with Angelo's mother's pasta. The first one on the list, and for good reason. This was probably my favorite dish of the night. The pasta was homemade and cooked perfectly Al dente. Every aspect of this pasta was so delicious and satisfying. The fresh cheese, the sauce and pasta, everything was perfect! Lastly we had the branzino fish which was wonderful. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant. And the service was top notch. A wonderful dining experience with my wife. I definitely recommend it.
What an incredible experience! Best fine dining
What an incredible experience! Best fine dining restaurant in Aspen! The food is amazing! A nice balance of options - fish, pasta, and meat! Our Somm, Velma, recommended an incredible wine in our price comfort zone and has the most wonderful personality. Jano is a fantastic server and very attentive. Love the atmosphere and design of the restaurant. It was our anniversary and they did a beautiful job helping us celebrate. Can't wait till our next evening with you.

Centrally located in the Aspen core and a short walk from the Hotel Jerome, this elegant restaurant seems like an upstairs oasis of blonde wood, grays, blacks, with a sommelier. Although I did not find prices on the website - the entrees range from the upper $40s to over $100. The wine list starts at around $60 a bottle to the 'don't ask.' I had the special Dover sole which came with string beans, confit potatoes, and a sauce meuniรจre. Three guests had the pastas. Small salt cellars, lemon in cheesecloth, etc. Even though it was filled to the brim when we left - I could still hear our table conversation. With wine, water, first courses, main entrees and a shared dessert - the final bill was gasp-worthy but for a very special occasion (or if someone else is treating) - it was a solid meal (although light on the seasoning and salt).
10s, 10s, and more 10s.
The interior is stunning, not a single detail was left out while decorating this place. The service is outstanding. The staff is so friendly, so helpful, so welcoming! Now to the main topic, the food. By far the best place I had while on my stay in Aspen. The lasagna is so flavorful and rich. The lemon chicken is incredible, so full of flavor yet very bright and light. Completely blown away by this place!
Had a wonderfull experience at this restaurant.
This restaurant has become one of our favorites in Aspen, not least because they have not fallen for the temptation to jack their prices up in to the stratosphere, as seen at other Aspen venues during the past years. Our waiter Raffael, was a delight, very attentive and professional. We definitely plan to come back๐
We had a group of 6 people.
The music was loud and the restaurant was loud, it was difficult to hear our waiter. We were charged for things we didn't even order, which eventually we got removed from the bill. It took a few tries for them to even get my drink right and bring the one I actually ordered. HOWEVER they tried to nickel and dime us left and right. Yes, this is an expensive restaurant, yes, it will be expensive, we know that. Everyone in the group that went can afford to pay their meal, we get it. The specials list seemed more expansive than the actual menu and it was difficult to hear the small "details" like caviar added to plates where it was unnecessary since the specials were only communicated verbally. Due to some discrepancies in the bill that we did not expect, we had a conversation with the manager. He seemed rude AF and I was appalled when he said to me "If you have to ask for prices of the specials then you shouldn't be ordering them" I found that sexist and judgemental. Please do not judge your customers. I have a Ph.D. and am fairly successful myself but maybe I didn't look the type to be in that restaurant to him. There are polite ways to address a bill discrepancy with a customer, and there are rude ways. His way was rude and disrespectful. On top of that, the plate I ordered seemed undercooked and the quality of the food and service didn't even remotely match the prices. The following day we went to another restaurant with lower prices, 10x the quality of service and friendliness and attentiveness from staff compared to Casa D'Angelo, and it was like night and day. I would not recommend this place to anyone (except maybe my worst enemies) -- not worth it and there are much better places in Aspen to eat.
Great experience! Beautiful restaurant that seated us
Great experience! Beautiful restaurant that seated us quickly and accommodated that we had to eat quickly to make our flight. Alessandro was our waiter and was so friendly and knew the menu well. We love getting to chat with him! Food came fast and was delicious.

The meal was delicious and our server, Alessandro, was fantastic!! We were on a time schedule and they made sure to have our food prepared to meet our requests. We couldn't have been happier.
Best restaurant I have ever been to.
Amazing atmosphere. You walk up stairs to a coat check into this beautiful restaurant. Although no one greeted us to check us into our reservation they ended up making up for it. We got the best table by the window and wine cellar as requested. Ordered Aqua Panna and two chilled shots of Casamingos Reposado with orange slices. Best chilled shots. Then our server told us the specials and we decided on the lobster ravioli appetizers for each of us. Very delicious and light for an appetizer. But quite the tease. One of the specials was the Dover sole. Ordered as I was in the mood for fish and it was so so so so yummy. They bring it out on the bone then bring it off the bone for your to eat. I would give this place 100 stars if I could. They definitely will be back but probably not because I don't go to aspen. Aspen is a gem filled with many amazing fine dining restaurants.
Where do I start.
I guess it's that this was icing on the cake that Aspen is a $$$$ experience. Everyone inside was dressed so nicely with their lovely coats and cute fashionable outfits. (There is also a coat check for you in the front as well.) We made a reservation the day of for 8:30 pm for 2. Restaurant was definitely very busy and almost a fire hazard imo in the entrance. We arrived a little early, but told we were too early so we waited til the time. Workers were nice but you can tell were a little flustered with so many people. We ordered two pastas and a glass of red wine. I ordered paccheri vodka which was a mix of red and white sauce with sausage and mushrooms. The pasta was cooked Al dente . My boyfriend got a dish off the special daily menu which was a seafood squid ink pasta. Definitely a high price tag at $95 but it did have lots of seafood such as a lobster tail and large shrimp. I enjoyed the food and service, but probably would not come back for a second visit. Definitely felt a little out of place with the atmosphere and a little constricted with the budget. Not sure if the price really matched the food and service.

We came here for the 3rd time since it opened and have told many people about this restaurant. We've always had fantastic food and a great experience. Tonite we had great food, however had a rough experience. our server was very pushy-pushing for us to order right away and at one point when we said we hadn't had a chance to look at the menu seemed very frustrated and angry with us. We finally ordered and enjoyed the food very much. When we got our bill, we were charged for an extra martini and $5 more for each glass of wine than what was on the menu. It felt that tonite was all about profit and not about our dining experience. Pretty disappointing when our bill was $430 for 2 adults. We will unfortunately not be back next time we visit Aspen.

Food was ok - would expect a $20-25 price point for the quality as 2 people that live in NYC and have amazing Italian food for $30 or less. Our pastas were both $44+ and a little bland. We got the bolognese and the lasagna. Also, our waiter made a couple of distasteful jokes - 1) tried to guess which Asian ethnicity we were unprompted and didn't ask the white couple next to us about where they were from or what ethnicity they were even though he sat and served us both at the same time; 2) when we declined ordering drinks after the first distasteful joke, he asked if we were under 21 (we're both in our mid 20s in Aspen as my friend is here for business, this was just a bizarre question tbh). As someone that frequents Sant Ambroeus in NYC, I would recommend that as an alternative for better pasta and service. Hosts and coat check staff were very nice though

We dined here shortly after it opened in 2022 and it was extremely disappointing. The service was the worse and the food marginal, especially given the cost. Recently I had dinner with my adult children and the evening was lovely. Food outstanding and top notch service. I will return even though it is a very pricey restaurant. The atmosphere was also great.
A Happening Spot!
Beautiful, yummy food Lovely, lovely service A fun vibe Indoor or patio Make a reservation A beautiful view! A must-go when you are in Aspen next!
Excellent food & service
This was our third visit - we love the atmosphere, food and service is always great. Expensive but so is everything else in Aspen.
Outrageous pricing - even for Aspen!!
Word to the wise; ask the pricing for the specials! The waiter offered about 10 different specials but never mentioned the pricing. We paid $110 for a plate of fettuccine that supposedly had black truffles on it. $110!!! Another member of our party ordered the Dover sole which was also a special. It came with nothing on the side and it was an average size piece of fish; $105!! itโs criminal! We visit the Casa Angelo in other cities and the pricing is average for the level restaurant and the food is very good. For instance, one pasta item on the menu is $22 at another location. At this location, the same plate of pasta is $40 and about 1/4th the size! There weโre literally 6 noodles on the appetizer size plate. Unless you are a billionaire or donโt mind being ripped off; skip this place!
Great service and food is great.
4 stars due to insane above market price seafood specials.
Pushers.
We had this waiter from Serbia that kept making himself sound Italian. Ordered a $300 bottle of wine that I liked and the waiter suggests to get a $900 bottle of wine that we didn't want. So we decided to go with our original $300 bottle which he said it was a "cheap wine" which by the way the price of the wine in this restaurant is 3 -4x more than in the liquour store. Then we ordered a salad and sashimi which he kept mentioning in was very small portion and we needed more. It was a good size salad. Kept also pushing us to get specials without mentioning prices that were about $150+. Then my wife ordered a Branzino and I wanted to order a lobster pasta originally $60 which he said it wasn't good it was heavy cheese flavor and pushed the special which we ordered. Without mentioning it was about $160. We always go to the best places in Miami and New York and never got so pushed to order specials or extremely priced wines. Our bill ended up being $700 but if we have listened to our waiter it would have been $2000.
We went to Casa D'Angelo for a group dinner.
It is a crowded noisy restaurant. We were all screaming at each other... want to talk to someone on the other side of the table? Forget about it! Food was really good. Someone at our table ordered the special but didn't know it was going to be a $160 plate. The waiter forgot our drink order and had to be reminded 20 minutes later that we had ordered drinks... on their website it says "our private dining room can accommodate up to 20 guests" and it seemed like there was at least 5 times that many people crammed into their tiny space the night we went. It was HOT in there too and very loud. Would not return to pay the obscene menu prices and endure that experience again.
Bartender was pleasant for our drink at the bar.
Hostess sat us promptly once our whole crew arrived. Took a while to warm to the waiter that stood too close to the table stuffed in between two of our group. But, he and we got in sync once he figured out our more leisurely timing. We split 3 of the special Elk & Risotto dishes for our table of 6....meat and Arborio were cooked perfectly. The Lobster Cacio e Pepe was rich and phenomenal. The somm hit us with a lovely old world brunello, while the large tiramisu hit the sugar spot. Pinions was always one of my favorite spots in the country to dine, and this is a capable replacement.

So romantic and soooo yummy! An Aspen fave! All of the pastas, seafood, and the sorbetto! Can't wait to come back. :)
This place has got so many false paid reviews to cover up
This place has got so many false paid reviews to cover up their awful service and terrible food. Just put up a place next to some other great restaurants in a place where people spend money freely. This is so bad its almost a scam. There were some good looking people there but not nearly enought to make it worth spending time or money in this establishment.
Had reservations for 9pm.
Did not get seated till 10pm. The host made the situation worse with her attitude. Once we sat down the food was a disappointment. The octopus was not cooked well and the filet was mediocre at best. Oysters and tuna were good but I won't be back. Aspen has much better establishments to eat at.
Great ambiance and menu choices.
Dinner choices were very good. Only complaint was lack of training of service personnel. Need to spend time educating and training help on better service. Refill water glasses, removing empty cocktail glasses and dishes and replacing dirty eating utensils with fresh utensils.
Booked a reservation for New Year's Eve here on yelp.
Was called and verbally quoted $350 per person for my preset multicourse meal and asked if I would like to confirm my reservation, I said that's perfect, the conversation ended. (We were going to little nell after for the dom party so 9pm being the only booking option on OpenTable seemed perfect for us.) when we arrived I was informed that our reservation was running behind for the "second seating". I was confused by this because I just thought it was a normal reservation with a preset meal. We sat down and we had said preset meal and they brought us cristal. What a lovely surprise to go with our dinner I thought. We met the chef who was kind and made sure we got a great table and service. Imagine my surprise when I get my bill for $2400, which at this point I was very over-served, but not enough to realize after the check was signed that this was WRONG. I expressed to the hostess that I did not understand why we were charged so much and she told me it was because of the second seating and afterparty (which I didnt even know about) and would have the manager call me the next day. No call. So I called, everyday for four days for them to tell me that they aren't going to do anything about it but offer me a free meal (sounds guilty to me - especially after reading these sketchy reviews) and that they believe Kathy (whose clearly trying to save her job) over me. How would I even know the price was $350 for the "first seating" (not the 9:00 reservation I made) if She didn't quote it to me on the phone when confirming my reservation. It wasn't online - I checked when leaving. I booked on the OpenTable app. It had ZERO information on it about anything to do with this evening. So with that being said, I will be disputing the charge on my credit card and I will be reporting this to the better business bureaus.
Excellent food, great atmosphere and an outstanding staff.
We will be back! Great with wine pairings if your not an expert
Fabulous restaurant, excellent food and service
Here's what you need to know: an amazing 5 star food and SERVICE experience at our first dine in visit to Casa D'Angello in the heart of Aspen! The food and service were immaculate, and the cocktails list was creative and well curated. Literally everything about it just perfection. Amazing atmosphere, beautiful outside patio with The view. The food was perfect, the flavors were insane. Foie Gras, Burrata, Tartare di Tonno, Polpo, Carpaccio di Manzo, Branzino Mediterrรกnea Risotto with truffles, Costoletta di Vitello... The service from MARK S. : impeccable manners, observant and attendant to all customers needs Highly recommend!!
