Great View, But That's Where it Ends.
When we arrived for a Birthday Celebration at 6:30 on a Tuesday Night, the first thing we were told is that we were only allowed to stay for an hour and 45 minutes. We were on time for our reservation. We had requested a view table but were told those were only for parties of 4. Drink orders were taken quickly, and were good. Appetizer salads were ordered, along with entrees. Appetizers arrived quickly and were quite good, that was the end of the positives. It took 50 minutes for dinner to arrive and the restaurant was only half full. The steaks were oversalted to the point of being inedible. We ordered dessert waited for 20 minutes for that to arrive and the espresso we ordered never arrived. The final check with tax and tip was over $600 (well over $100 person). This was not a $100 meal and we will not return. The food was overprice, and the service was poor. Spend your money elsewhere, the great view may be worth a drink, but not the din er prices charged for an unmemorable night.
Be the first to ReplyWow. So bad.
The worst. The absolute worst dining experience, let alone Easter brunch that I and my friends & family had the displeasure of having. We, and everyone else with a reservation had to wait over an hour to get our tables, which turned out to be the beginning of the bad. Instead of being sat out on the admittedly lovely terrace, we were instead sat in a soulless, dirty banquet room off the main dining area. The server was very nice, but the actual service was so so poor. We were left alone for too long, the food showed up before drinks, and for some reason we had to ask twice to get plates. Then there was the food. Included in the $98 pre-fix were oysters, crab legs, and shrimp. The oysters clearly had been sitting out for a while, and had begun to turn, which was a first for me. Typically restaurants prefer not to poison their patrons, but I guess Castaway likes to roll the dice. The crab legs were edible, but it was a fun time trying to smash them open with our knife handles without the necessary crackers. The salad was oddly salty and flavorless at the same time. I also prefer my salad greens to be less brown. The mains were fine. Boring but fine. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my poached eggs weren’t boiled, and my steak wasn’t shoe leather. The word Meh fits pretty nicely for everyone’s dish. Oh, I forgot that they left crab legs and misc detritus on the table(not on plates mind you) while we waited for the next round of “food”. Nothing like staring at dismembered crab on linen in between courses. Then finally came the dessert, and oh boy was it terrible. Piles and piles of terrible. Let’s put it this way, if two 9 year olds stop eating dessert after the first couple bites, the cakes, cookies, and macaroon must suck hard. Yeah, nah. Castaway. That’s what the food was. That’s what we were.

Jesus was awesomeeee. He served my boyfriend and I during dinner, and was very attentive and kind. One of the best dinners I have ever had <3
Be the first to ReplyMenu changes were disappointing
We are rating the Castaway a 3 because we were patrons from long ago and have not been back since our family moved I get to Las Vegas in 2019. The service and atmosphere was wonderful as it always was, but unfortunately, the Sunday afternoon menu has completely changed. I remember coming here on Sundays for a wonderful brunch buffet, and it was worth the price of admission. The new menu is very limited, and the portions appear slim. We feel that the entrees are way overpriced for Me the portions you get. Overall, our experience on December 31 was not bad, but we were put out on the patio where it was cold and windy and only one heater worked. Our party of 11 also waited 30 minutes to be seated, and our main course took close to 2 hours to arrive at our table. We bit our tongues on saying anything because it was our friends birthday, but we couldn’t help but make a note here however late, about how it’s changed over the years. We’re very grateful and thankful for the memories we had before, but are not sure if we will have reason to return again.

WE arrived at sunset. It was amazing! Initial impression was perfect. Unfortunately it was New Year’s Day and understandable there was a challenge for the servers. Our drinks and appetizers came out quick and delicious . We had 2 vegetarians and one vegan with 2 carnivores. We waited at least an hour for the main course. The table next came after and left before we were served. When it arrived the taste of everything was impressive. The vegan option was unique and very good. Sadly the steaks were cold and the 5 th dish under the lights too long. That is why only 4 stars. I don’t want to disrespect the quality of the venue and menu. When management found out the issues they MADE IT GOOD. It was a special celebration for us above just celebrating the new year. We had a 2 month old with us that thankfully slept the entire time. This could have been a nightmare. The desert was comped and honestly I have never experiences anything quite like the various confections we enjoyed! Things happen And some places just say they are sorry or nothing at all. My verbal impression is that this business wants you to leave happy. We will go back happily.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible service from Hostess to management
Worst Hostess I have ever encountered at a restaurant that is supposed to be upscale. Manager gave away our reservation on Christmas day and did not care to accommodate their mistake. Or, in my opinion, blatantly gave our table away to someone else. We showed up 15 minutes early and when it came time to be seated after waiting until our reservation time, we were escorted to a table I did not reserve. Instead of apologizing and asking if we wanted to wait a little longer for the next inside table, we were given a condescending, you can take the table we put you at outside on a cool night, or sit at the bar and have dinner. This came from management. We immediately left. While we retrieved our car from the valet, we met another couple that was retrieving their car that just had the same thing happen to them. Only they outright canceled their reservation. Do Not go to Cast Away. That is not the way to treat first time patrons!
Be the first to ReplyThe view is too expensive here...
This place has a very nice view on Burbank but I was not completely satisfied with the food we had. The steak was highly priced and not cooked well, and we even had to order the sides apart. I guess they charge you for the view, but I will not go back again.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible service
Horrible service! We requested a table outside, front row, right above the beautiful view. We were told it will take few minutes. Our party was 3 people - 2 adults and a 3 y old toddler. We waited 25 minutes to be seated, not where we requested. As we were walked to the table there was a woman with bright red hair screaming "who is on table 5?" I was surprised that a 5 star establishment will have someone so loud and disrespectful to the dining people around. When we found out that our request can't be completed and asked why, we were told that a party of 3 cannot be seated at the front tables, only parties of 2 can dine in there. Well why did you promise a front row table when you knew we are a party of 3? We asked to speak with the manager. Well surprisingly the manager was the same loud red head who was screaming across the restaurant when we entered. She came like a storm cloud, no smile, no personality, didn't greet us or ask us how we were. She came in total ATTACK MODE, rude and disrespectful to yell: YOU CANNOT SIT THERE. There was zero compassion in her voice or what so ever! Zero attempt to accommodate us or apologize. We left very disappointed and will never go back! Not to mention that the assistant general manager was a joke too! The whole establishment is ran by morons with zero customer service or accountability what they promised to do when we walked in and requested a front row table! The cherry on top was when we left the place and I tried to reserve another restaurant my Open Table had items added to my tab/check that I never opened! See picture. Yeah you need to add a payment method to reserve a table. Don't waste your time and money there! There are so many other restaurants that will treat you like royalty and without the attitude those young people had! A red head clown who screams across the dining room, disturbs the ambiance and attacks the customers without a reason!

We went to Castaway to celebrate Mom's b-day. Aside from keeping us waiting for around 30 minutes (though we had a reservation), we found 3 tiny pieces of plastic in the Caesar's salad. Once confronted, they offered us a free dessert, which we refused. Later, as it turned out, they scratched our car during valet parking.

I am an airline employee and I travel around the world eating good food and experiencing some of the best customer service. I recommend that you DO NOT SPEND Your Time or Money here! The service is so bad and slow. We waited for hours to be seated and never was. The young ladies at the front desk are inexperienced and it shows. We watched tons of people walk-out the restaurant due to the long wait for a table. Why make a reservation? Don't throw your hard earned money away. Go somewhere else where you feel appreciated. The food is just okay, nothing to brag about.

We had lunch at castaway after a game of frisbee golf on the property. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The views of this restaurant are gorgeous. I am sure the outside patio is very nice when the weather is warm. The weather was cold when we went, so we sat indoors. Our waiter came immediately and offered us drinks. Their menu was interesting and the drinks were decent. The food menu was your basic American pub menu. We had Brussel sprouts which were excellent. I ordered the Burger. While they do not have gluten free bun, they offered the burger in a lettuce. It was juicy and delicious. The rest of my party were happy with their burger as well. Overall it was a nice experience because of the ambiance. I give it my GoldnAdvice seal of approval.

Don’t go here if you want to have a nice experience. Went here for my sons birthday, they prepared his steak wrong twice. All they could say was sorry. Problem was everybody already finished their meal and all the sides were cold. Their managers tried to make excuses for their chefs, but for what we are paying, how can you mess up twice. Don’t go here if you expect good service and steaks cooked to how you want it. My son had to take a steak home because we couldn’t stay there any longer. He was so disappointed and couldn’t believe what he received for what we paid for our meal. Go here if you want to be disappointed, if you are, the managers will make every excuse in the book to save face.

I went to the Castaway with my 80 year old parents this past weekend and it was an experience! We used to frequent this restaurant often for special occasions quite often. However, the last time they remember being there was 1999 and they repeatedly let our server Kenzo know. This man was so kind! Not only did he patiently return three different times to get our order (each time hearing about how they hadn't been to the restaurant since 1999), he kindly split a salad for my parents, and provided impeccable service. I wanted to write this to thank Kenzo for his time, service, and kindness. He made our experience a delightful memory. Next time, they will remember we went in 2022 because of him! Also, the caviar French fries are incredible!!

The food was delicious, our server, Daniella, was amazing and the view is second to none!! Make sure to schedule your reservation around the sunset.

My family and I have frequented this restaurant multiple times and I can say after this experience we will not be returning ! Starting with the valet - they were incredibly rude and impatient while my husband and myself got our 3 month old baby and stroller out the car . Not only that but the restaurant now forces you to valet your car so they can drive it 5 feet away and park it for you . We had a scheduled reservation for 11:15am , we had to wait an additional 20min to be seated. They were aware we had a small child and instead of trying to sit us in the plenty of open ,comfortable seating areas available they take us down a flight of stairs with a stroller and cram us into a back corner with no place for a infant carrier or a stroller. The waiter gave us water and did not give us the opportunity to order drinks , and when we were finally given the opportunity to order I food he seemed to have an attitude with us . We received our food and he disappeared and did not return to check on us or even offer us refills on the waters. The napkins on the table were already dirty and my sister had a 12in red hair in food. We he finally did return to it was to shove the check in our faces . I had informed the waiter that we were celebrating a birthday, he dropped off a desert and didn’t offer a dessert menu to anyone which we were looking for . Before my mother could even finish her birthday dessert ,we were approached by the manager and asked to leave to make space for other parties coming in . If you are looking to celebrate a special occasion I suggest you go somewhere else !
Be the first to ReplyBirthday disappointment
We came to eat for my birthday at my request, there were a total of 8 of us ! Our waiter (Juan) seemed to be annoyed from the start. My oldest daughters food had a hair unit and when we told him he seemed to be even more annoyed! We were not offered beverages , and when we finished eating! Be brought a puddin for my birthday! Never offering any of my other family members desserts. Then someone walked over and ask us to leave our table. We haven’t been finished with our meal 10 minutes yet. I realize this is a busy location! But I didn’t see them doing that to anyone else. Not even 10 minutes! Without offering dessert or even a refill on our water! Which I wanted! Very disappointed in the service this time around
Be the first to ReplyWife’s Birthday Celebration
My family at my wife’s request treated her to brunch at this restaurant. We have been patronizing this restaurant for years not only as family but retirement parties as well. We were a party of 7+ our 3 month old granddaughter. Instead of them accommodating us at a empty table that would have made service a lot easier for all, they stuffed us in a corner table and which made service difficult at best. The server (Juan Paul) obviously had a problem with whom he had to provide service too!! He never asked nor did he care if we were comfortable with our table, we weren’t! They gave the other table to a smaller party ?? Did not explain the menu, offered us water but no other beverages, which we wanted. Never asked if our appetizers were okay, after our main course arrived, he could have cared less if it met our expectations. My oldest daughter had hair in her food. My wife’s napkin had lipstick on it, no apology for dirty rag, instead he wiped the table with it. Juan Paul never asked if we wanted dessert, he brought out some leftover pastry with a couple of candles in it, which no one ate , do to a lack of trust. Then to top it off….they send one of the “managers “ over to inform us that they wanted our table, and if we wanted we could sit in the lounge and mingle. This was while I was paying the bill!! We thought your establishment had more class and respect for its patrons and that’s why we have continued to spend money there. We’ll reevaluate that thought process. The Castaways may not care if we come back, but I work for a entity that has approximately 350+ retirements happening in the next 17 months and if I can convince as many people as possible not to use this restaurant, I believe they will care then. If you have other options, think about enjoying that place instead. I believe by the way the employees acted towards us, this is the norm…not the exception.
Be the first to ReplyStunning Views // Exceptional Service from Jesus // Will Return
My wife and I have enjoyed several dining experiences at Castaway and most recently celebrated our anniversary over dinner here. The views were spectacular, food was stellar (we had the dry-aged ribeye and mushroom paparadelle), but the service is what stood out - Jesus was exceptional across the board. Welcoming, knowledgable, and attentive, Jesus was a joy and we look forward to returning because of the hospitable atmosphere he fostered. Until next time, thanks Jesus!

My aunt took us here for dinner after flying into Burbank airport. We had a great view of the city even inside. We shared a bunch of appetizers, let me tell you the Brussels sprouts were fantastic! Cannot wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplySo Disappointed!
Castaway has always been one of my favorite restaurants and we usually go there for special occasions. Today was a huge disappointment. We waited 20 min for a table I booked weeks ago. The servers were so busy, it was clear to see how understaffed they were. Unfortunately, we waited a very long time for drinks and almost and hour for food to come out - eggs Benedict and a salad. The food was “ok” when normally it’s wonderful. Terribly over salted on everything- someone has a very heavy hand with salt! For the management— can you please stop packing the restaurant to full capacity unless you have the staff to support it? Very expensive for long waits for service, so/so food and a “you don’t matter” experience. I don’t know when or if I’ll be back. 🥲

The fact that half the 1-star reviews have been posted in the past six months should tell you everything you need to know. They're short-staffed, disorganized, and have little interest in addressing their issues. We've been trying to reach out, but they've been dodging us. Basically, we went for my 40th, requested something nice in advance (patio spot or a view...). When we arrived, they told us they had a strict 90 minute seating policy, which seemed fair, and led us to believe we'd be outside... but then they sat us halfway inside, where only one of us had a view, and they kept us there for two and a half hours. We tried to leave sooner, believe me, but our waitress disappeared for nearly an hour. We think we were given the wrong table, as patio guests seemed to get speedier service, but still... jesus chirst. We had plans for after dinner, which we had to bump twice. Got in at 6:00pm and couldn't leave until 8:40. Now, this is my memory from my 40th... being held hostage at dinner.

Went yesterday for a brunch with friends and it was great. The food, the view, the ambiance - all great - but the best thing was the service, from the valet to the bussers. Our waiter, Tyler B, was so accommodating with my gluten and beta karoten alergies, gave honest food suggestons, and "doctoring" the bloody marys. Three of us had the hangover hash, ordered with different eggs, etc. and we all loved it. My very picky friend had the chicken and waffle, ate every bite. Of course we all picked off eacher others plate, cuz that's the kind of friends we are, it's the best way to taste different items - I suggest you try it. It is pricey but worth every dollar. #1sassytraveler #castaway

I didn’t like the service . It toll 10 min to get a cup of coffee . When I ask for water the waitress say another one in a really bad manner . While I was eating he came to the table next to us around 4 times to ask if e was ok , on my table he don’t ask if everything was ok . My pasta was overcook and for the final out desert was born , I told him about it , he reply that they don’t bake it there they just reheat them in the oven . Of course they burn the thing when they put it on the oven . Not really tevomenf it , I don’t think I’ll come bock .

The view is pretty and the server was very nice. One cocktail undrinkable the other watered-down and bland. The food was absolutely horrible; the risotto tasted like rice with Campbells tomato soup poured on top. The Sea Bass was dry and tasteless. The noise level was unbearable. They offered us a complimentary dessert, we declined.
