Of all the restaurants we tried during our week in Paris,
Of all the restaurants we tried during our week in Paris, this was our #1 favorite!!! If you're a seafood fan, HIGHLY recommend Clamato. Not only is everything super fresh but the flavors are incredible unique and well curated. We got nearly everything on the menu and two desserts (the grape sorbet and a chocolate mousse, which were both unbelievable as well). Thank you to the amazing staff as well! Loved our experience here - elevated food and service with a slightly "casual" atmosphere that had a touch of sophisticated warmth that made it just perfect.

The biggest surprise in our last trip to Paris! We were in the area trying to get into another restaurant that "unfortunately" was closed for a private event so we decided to give CLAMATO a shoot. Clamato was on my yelp bucket list, walking distance from where we were and also walk-ins only, so why not. When we got there the host told us the wait was around 30-45min but suggested that we could go to the sister bar Septime Le Cava for some pre-dinner drinks while we waited, we agreed! BTW, we loved the bar. After half hour they texted back and promptly we got seated at the bar. We've always been huge fans of bar seating because we love to see the prep of the dishes happening right in front of us. I feel is a great way to start waking up your appetite towards what you are visually seeing. All dishes are meant for sharing. First we got the mussels that were tasty and spicy. Then the tiradito (raw fish) was very pleasant to the palate after the spicy dish. While we were eating we saw the making of a very interesting dish that looked like a devil egg with caviar, so we give it a try. It was delicious! Super creamy. We ask the waiter to suggest one of his fav dishes from the menu and he did not hesitate by saying THE CABBAGE. I was like, CABBAGE!? Well, lets do it. Best cabbage I ever eaten in my life. If I'm not mistaken, the sauce had unรญ and the cabbage was perfectly roasted. We paired all dishes with an amazing white wine that also they suggested. Now this place is in my yelp Bookmark list "Best Rest in PARIS"

Maybe the best meal we had on a trip packed with incredible meals. Maybe also one of our very best meals of 2023. The mussels were spicy and perfect. The cuttlefish (cut into almost a linguine shape) was incredible. I could eat the tiradito every meal the rest of my life and be happy. We loved the cabbage too, and the oysters were great, even if I'm mostly bored with raw oysters. But the biggest standout of all was the cod roe tarama, which was maybe my very favorite dish all year -- an incredible hummus-like consistency with unbelievable flavor, topped with some top of the line olive oil, and served with amazing bread. The maple syrup tart for dessert was also amazing, and I really liked the clementine sorbet (my wife was less on it). We got there a half hour early on a Friday night and were first in line -- by the time they opened, the line was down the street. Also want to add that they were incredibly sweet to our two little kids (2 and 4), which we appreciated so much.
Be the first to ReplyClamato is a walk-in only seafood haven.
It's located in a quiet and quaint street nearby its sister restaurants. After putting out names down, the host graciously walked us to Septime Le Cava for pre-dinner drinks. They then stopped by to grab our party of 3 and were promptly seated at the bar in less than 30minutes. This was great because we got to watch lots of the crudo/ceviche style dishes be made directly in front of us. A great tapas style menu meant for sharing, we were able to try a couple items on the daily rotational menu. The Stone bass ceviche with a mandarin satsuma sauce was amazing and had a great spicy citrusy kick to it thanks to the burnt zest oil. The whole red mullet "Al pastor" was also a happy surprise for me because I did not expect to have an amazing Al pastor in Paris and on my first evening! Other items we tried were the winter radish and shrimp salad, hand dived scallops in a cognac sauce with grapes and crispy bread. This one was also amazing! The sweetness from the grapes combined with the salty and crispy bread was a treat for the sensations. Also, worth nothing that the spicy peanut butter served with the roasted squash was another complex and flavorful combination to the palette. Unfortunately, the cocktail selection here isn't the best so best be prepared for wine or a light spritz! The service was all very kind and generous though so I can't wait to visit during my next trip to Paris.
Be the first to ReplyThis was my favorite meal in Paris on my most recent trip.
My boyfriend and I got in line at 6:40 PM on a weekday (they open at 7) and were able to be part of the first seating. We tried: + Oysters + Ceviche + Albacore tuna + Heirloom tomato salad + Fried eggplant + Green beans + Haddock carpaccio + Maple syrup tart + Melon sorbet My favorite dishes were the tomato salad and the maple tart, followed by the ceviche, melon sorbet and tuna - the tuna had line or something in it and tasted like Christmas. Fried eggplant was also a standout. Only miss was the carpaccio - the flavors just didn't fit. I liked Clamato more than their sister restaurant, Septime! Small place, so plan accordingly.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance, quality, freshness.
Taste is beyond review. A friend suggested this place Dillon who grew up here. Oh my Gosh. Amazing. Must come here tell them Jason and Dillon sent you here. Do not miss. So fresh always changing menu.
Be the first to ReplySo hard to get a res at Septime, but saw the sister
So hard to get a res at Septime, but saw the sister restaurant had first come first served seating on our trip. Staked it out early and was first in line, but quickly the restaurant filled up. The meal was definitely solid, but wasn't as life changing or amazing as I thought it may have been for the sister restaurant of a top 50 restaurant in the world. The oysters, scallops, and ceviche were the best. Marinated leeks were ok, but I think that is more of a French acquired taste/method of cooking that I wasn't used too. The tuna was fine with the curry, but I didn't think it was the best use/combination, loved the deep fried kale that came with it though. It's a solid dinner, but don't expect to be blown away in my opinion.

Incredibly fresh items. Unique menu. Service was very good and very nice + attentive. Really loved my meal!

Be the first to ReplyAn outstanding small and better alternative sister
An outstanding small and better alternative sister restaurant to Septime. The seafood was so fresh and everything tasted wonderful! It is a very small restaurant so go when it first opens for lunch or dinner. Otherwise, you run the risk of being turned away as there are no reservations. We started off with a tasty assortment of fresh local Parisian oysters, and then moved to the cockles that were smothered in rich tasty melted butter. The cockles may be small but very plump and juicy! The deviled eggs with caviar were scrumptious. My favorite dish was the cuttlefish with fennel and pomegranate. It had the look of a pasta dish but it definitely tasted like great quality cuttlefish.I am so glad I was able to try this place for lunch as I was turned away the previous night for dinner because it was too packed.

Great visit! Would have been preferable on my end to go with a larger group so I could have sampled more menu items by sharing. Lots of the dishes would be well suited for this. What I did have was excellent and very fresh!
Be the first to ReplyClamato was such a good experience while I was in Paris.
It came as a recommendation from my tour guide on a food tour. It was definitely worth it! At first impression, the place is rather small but cozy. My party and I sat at the bar! We came off lunch hour and it was still a little busy, but we got a spot without waiting too long. My favorite was definitely the mussels. I'm usually unimpressed with mussels I've had in the states, but the mussels at Clamato was fresh and the broth was flavorful and rich. The broth truly brought out the flavor of the mussels in my opinion! We also got the the octopus and the oysters - the octopus came with a bed of corn, red pepper, and onion. I was again pleasantly surprised with the combination, but am so glad to have tried it because it works perfectly. It's refreshing with the tender octopus! The oysters were fresh and really hit the spot for me as well. Clamato is on my list to come back when I return to Paris! I would love to try their dinner menu sometime!
Be the first to ReplyIt was extremely difficult to get reservations at Septime.
So we decided to give its sister restaurant a chance. The service was fast and friendly. Seafood was fresh. The eggplant was probably our favorite dish. Packed with tons of flavor and I enjoyed the texture. Great substitute for meat if you're a vegetarian. Clams were pack with butter! Perfect for dipping the complimentary bread.

The service and interior is nice and you can tell there's a lot of care put into the menu. The seafood is very fresh and pretty reasonable honestly but some of the stuff was too salty. I got the most mild clams, black Mulet - these were pretty good. The eggplant was far too salty I couldn't finish it. The mussels were the most worth and tasty in my opinion!

Ready for an incredible experience? Clamato has a curated menu and long list of natural wines that will bring you a smile and leave you with a feeling of satisfaction and pure happiness. As a lover of natural wine and food, I found the mackerel/artichoke and sardine/potatoe dishes to be fresh, different, and incredibly satisfying. Paired with an orange wine you will be in heaven!
Be the first to ReplyI don't want to ruin their score via the terrible yelp
I don't want to ruin their score via the terrible yelp algorithm so I'll give it a 4 but this place is a horror show, barely a one star. First and foremost... a seafood restaurant should not be sweltering inside but this one is. And I don't mean it's a bit warm... I mean hiking my dress up and being able to put my hair up in its own sweat hot. The michalda was inedible.. like tasted like gasoline. No lime no salt no nothing! We needed to shuck all clams and oysters and crack the snow crab. Like I don't need to work this hard to eat a piece of seafood. Service was barely able to be called service and the seating is horrifying. I eat and have eaten at many a Parisian bistro, brasserie or cafe.... I am not referring to small spaces or small chairs but the bar stools could barely seat a child let alone a grown adult. The food was placed high above your table so you had to blindly reach for the unshucked oysters. None of it made any sense. Run... you can eat decent seafood many other places, this isn't Parisian food. Go anywhere else.
Be the first to ReplyONE Terrible experience.
NOT because of service. Though service was very poor. Really a sister Michelin restaurant is Septime? They should be a shamed to have affiliation to Clamato.Got there at 8pm. The wait time was about 1.5 hours. Sat down at 910pm. Ok great earlier than expected. Ordered food at 920 and the fist dish did not arrive till 950pm. No one offered bread. Order was messed up while 2 groups sat down after we had their 3rd round of dishes and a refill of bread. The brunette waitress is horrible. Worst service ever. She goes out her way to avoid contact so she does not have to serve you.Thr asian waitress was the best. She's on point and got everything taken care of in a flash. The bar tender was making a Michilada. All ingredients are poured into the cup he said I can't because I have no beer. Really? You have one job. How you not know you ain't got no beer? So I told him to surprise me with his own creation and it was really good. A spicy in your face clamato mescal drink that was refreshing and unique. But this accident was the only good part of the dining experience.Everything is overly super over salted. The anchovy tasted sweet compared to its counter part potato in the dish NOW Imagine the salt level established in the dishes. Sea food was not all fresh. The clams were sandy, and the broth was over salted to the point that I had to pour water to dilute it. Utah Oyster was nice and juicie, although it was boring and had no characteristics other than good texture, at least it was fresh. Cant imagine having rotting raw oysters in the summer of Paris on the side of the Paris alley-street, thus they get 1 star for this success along. Cerviche was boring. The chilly oil was a nice visual touch but it killed the taste of the fish, which further inserted uncertainty about the quality and freshness of their sea food. The girls to our left and right indicated the same about the salinity and the freshness. I heard multiple times among different dishes they ordered. CLAMTO YOURE A SEA FOOD RESTAURANT, HOW DO YOU FAIL LIKE THIS? The whole experience took about 3 hours to suffer through.Avoid this place. It will ruin your Paris trip like it did mine.Clamato do NOT contest or reply to this review I'm posting... you asked me in person today what was wrong and You yearned to know my opinion, viola and this is it. Good food is the byproduct of heart, demeanor and attitude harmoziezed with qulaity ingredients, patience and knowledge. All I tasted was saltiness today.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is duly one of the best restaurants in Paris.
Clamato is an ESSENTIAL for seafood lovers. The seafood platter is phenomenal -- great variety and I recommend ordering it as a starting point, so you can order more of your favorites. We absolutely loved the whelks (snails) and the crab was very special. The unรญ, in season right now, was phenomenal.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic ceviche and tuna tartar .
Service was great. Ambiance is nice. Dessert didn't really tie the meal altogether but overall if you can't get into Septime , this is a good fall back.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent seafood restaurant.
We didn't have time for dinner or lunch, so we stopped by for a 'quick' bite before our dinner reservation. Quick as in I think we had 30-45 minutes. We grabbed two empty seats at the bar, sneaked at peek at our neighbor's menu (he was out for a smoke break), browsed through Instagram posts, and ordered off of that. We also asked for the check when the food came, to speed it up. We got eggs (ลuf mayo/caviar) and the scallops/lime oil/kumquats dishes. We were seated in front of the chefs making the latter dish.Highly recommend for a meal and I will definitely try and visit next time I'm in town.
Be the first to ReplyClamato is the Michelin Bib Gourmand sister restaurant of
Clamato is the Michelin Bib Gourmand sister restaurant of one star Michelin restaurant Septime (number 15 on the 2019 World's 50 Best Restaurants). We were told that this place had gotten popular with both locals and tourists and that there is usually a line that forms even before opening since most people aren't able to get reservations at Septime and Clamato only takes walk-ins. We got there for lunch about twenty minutes before opening and were pleasantly surprised to find that we were the first ones there, probably because it was a Monday. The service is casual and it was relaxing to just sit at the bar and watch the chefs prepare our food right in front of us. We ordered the sea urchin, oysters (you can order by the piece so we ordered four among the two of us), deviled eggs with caviar, squid, fried white fish and the orange sorbet for dessert. While their seafood and vegetable focused menu changes daily, they seem to have some items that pop up on their menus more often than others such as the deviled eggs with caviar and the orange sorbet, both of which I highly recommend. The oysters are also always on their menu and they are very fresh. I would recommend Clamato to anyone who is looking for an affordable seafood place in Paris. Don't see it as an alternative to Septime just because you can't get reservations there because Clamato offers a different yet an equally enjoyable dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyProbably the highlight of all the meals I had in Paris.
We didn't have reservations, but arrived around 7pm and were seated around 8:30-9pm. ย This place was poppin' so get there early! Once seated we quickly made our selections:MIXED SEAFOOD PLATTER - Yum!!! Whelks, mixed clams and oysters. ย The whelks were my favorite! Oysters were on the saltier side. BLACK MULLET TIRADITO - I believe we didn't order this, but so glad it ended up on our table. This was absolutely my favorite dish of the night. The blood orange citrus and pepper oil flavors were just divine with the fish. I didn't want to share this. Lol! BAKED SCALLOPS - Very delicious as well. MAPLE SYRUP TART - Super sweet. Perfect with a latte, which I also ordered! Yum! If you're a fan of seafood definitely add this to your list. It's on the pricey side, but worth it!

If you want innovative and cleverly prepared seafood, this is your place. ย Clamato is small and a bit cramped but the food is the star. ย If you find yourself getting bored with yet another classic French Bistro, try this restaurant. ย It will renew your faith in modern French food.Bravo! Well done Clamato, even though your name sounds like something I drink with beer while in Mexico, your food rocks!
Be the first to ReplySeafood bar/restaurant, sister to the extremely difficult
Seafood bar/restaurant, sister to the extremely difficult to reserve Septime. They don't actually take any reservations at all, but we were able to get a table for 2 easily on a Wed night at 7pm when they opened.Raw bar has various choices depending on what's available. We chose the praire clams (4 stars), which were briny and a tad sweet. The vinaigrette was amazingCockles (5 stars): with a slightly smoky butter sauce. Even better than the clams! Would've considered drinking the sauce if it were not mostly butterCabbage (4.5 stars): this was brilliant. It was like a carb free okonomiyakiMackerel tartare (4.5 stars): first time having mackerel in this form and cant wait to have it again! The panko topping could've been more crisp but the rest of it was so good it didn't even matterHoney sorbet and fresh cheese ice cream with pollen (4.5 stars): even though we were cheesed out from our wine and cheesing just a few hours prior, we still really enjoyed this dish. Clean, not too sweet, and well balanced. Great way to end the mealExcellent wine list by the glass, including natural and orange wines as well. Service was also very nice and spoke English
Be the first to ReplyThe best welks I have ever had, the best mussels I have
The best welks I have ever had, the best mussels I have ever had, among the best cockles and cerviche as well. Clamato is an unassuming place next door to the impossible to reserve Septime from the same team. It offers simple and unfussy seafood cooked perfectly, without foams, dots of sauces, dehydrated this-or-that. The food here looks like it can be found in any number of seafood restaurants anywhere in the world, it's just that the food here tastes amazing. It's all cheap too. Highly recommended.
