Had my birthday dinner here and it was a great place to celebrate. The ambiance is quite nice, not too quiet but not too loud with mood lighting. The bread was really good, and also really enjoyed the chicken liver agnolotti and foie gras. The half chicken and pork chops were pretty good but definitely ordered too much food. They also surprised us with a small sorbet for my birthday. The staff were very friendly and pretty attentive the whole evening.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent.
Great combinations of vibe, food, wine and cocktails. Has a number of delicious vegetarian options that is enough for a vegetarian to have a full dinner, which we appreciated. Carrots, cabbage, spinach/artichoke bread and squash fritters all delicious.

I really had some great dining experiences during this trip to New York. Claud was among the best. The service is excellent. Servers were attentive and explained the menu clearly. Great sense of humor among the staff. Staff functions as a team. We had the squash fritters and the kampachi with kumquat and yuzu. Both were delicious and I'd recommend them! We had a bread with truffle and cheese which I don't think I would order again. We shared the Dover Sole for dinner. I would probably ask for more bread to soak up the sherry and and lemon (but I'm kind of a savage). Chocolate cake for dessert. Yes! We ended up choosing the Grüner Veltliner for wine. The ambience is relaxed and cozy but you know you're in a nice nice restaurant. Great for a date or meeting up with a close friend. Yes to Claud!

It is absolutely stellar each and every time, this time was no different. I'm always wowed by eating something new [new to me anyway] on the menu. I finally came with a group so I was able to order the bigger plates. Wowza. The half chicken with foie drippings [$38] was ridiculous. The skin was so crispy and the inside was so moist and flavorful. We also ordered the pork chop with smoked onion jus [$39]. The pork chop was pre-cut off the bone and ate like a steak. I definitely could've eaten the whole thing by myself. The glazed carrots [$14] that we ordered as a side were also delicious. For dessert we had the sherbet [$9] which was a citrus flavor with toasted meringue on top. It was definitely giving key lime pie. We also had the devils food cake for two [$22] which is a chocolate lovers dream. I can't stop raving about Claud. It really feels like my special place and it makes me so happy to eat here.
Be the first to Replyabsolutely fantastic experience.
the chocolate cake is deadly. I could eat here for every meal

Easily one of the best solo work trip meals that I've ever had. The wine list was truly amazing. Every bite of food was better than the last and the service at the bar was just the right amount of conversation. I can't wait to come back here.
Be the first to ReplyI wish this place was easier to get a res to.
I didn't love the ambiance- it's pretty loud and busy, and some staff feel kind of above it all. However, I agree with those who say this is one of the best restaurants in the city. All of the food we got was delicious. In particular, the stand out dish for me was the tomato and cheese Mille feuille. Oh my goodness, I didn't think I would find this as delicious as I did. This was excellent and I couldn't stop thinking about it for weeks. Their plates are on the smaller side and like I said, all are well executed. Therefore don't feel too shy when ordering. Finally- the chocolate cake IS that good! If you're a big chocolate person, this is likely going to be one of your favorite desserts. I had this on my birthday and no regrets. Love the flaky salt on top. You'll probably be able to take some of it home too, it's a good portion.

I can't say enough good things about Claud, everything is fantastic. Amazing people, good vibes, and incredible food (quite possibly the best roasted chicken I've ever had). Hands down best wine restaurant in NYC.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible food and Service all around.
Squash fritters and mushroom dish were unbelievable and the wine selection is top notch. Staff is all knowledgeable and friendly, I cant wait to go back and try more things from the menu!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious and inventive dishes with a great waitstaff.
The wine list was varied as well. We hope to be back soon.

Set your reminders because Claud is quite a competitive spot for reservations! Claud is a restaurant where the vibes are chill but you're getting fine-dining level quality of food.Escargot Croquettes - they were good but thinking about it now I think it's hard to not overpower the escargot part of the dish when it's a croquette. There wasn't much escargot in the croquette, and I could barely taste the escargot. It ended up tasting like a croquette mostly if that makes sense? Tasty but nothing special here.Chicken Liver Agnolotti - I love pate so this dish intrigued me. These just melted away in my mouth and I was in a state of bliss. This dish was perfectly balanced as it would've been quite a rich dish without the acidity of vinegar added. I originally got this to share and found myself wanting to hog this dish to myself. Although I imagine if I had this on my own it would make me sick because it is still rich despite the balance of the vinegar. Bread with crab meat- sorry for the crude name I have no idea what the name of this dish was. They did load the bread up with crab meat which was nice- however I regret ordering this because it wasn't anything new for me and I was already stuffed by the end of this dish. Still had our main proteins coming!Half chicken with foie gras drippings- this was the best chicken I've had in recent memory. If you're like me you'd probably go "why would I go to a nice restaurant just to get a chicken?!"- Claud will prove you wrong. This chicken was extremely tender- the chicken just fell apart when I poked it with my fork. The foie gras drippings added umami and took this chicken to the next level- I made sure to soak my chicken in the foie gras drippings before taking a bite.Pork chop with smoked onion jus - I'm not a fan of pork chops in general and my partner got this. It was good but me and my partner both agree the chicken was the stand out. The protein portions were huge by the way- I would say me and my partner have normal appetites and getting 2 starters and 2 protein dishes is more than enough. We both had to take home our food because we couldn't finish it all. Lemme tell you - the leftovers were also amazing.Overall, I love Claud- it's a chill fine-dining experience that's super affordable in my opinion. Highly recommend you start setting reminders on your phone for those reservation drops :)

7:30 reservation on a Friday and they're out of the chocolate cake. Sorry, but inexcusable.Everything we ate was very good, to be sure, the 1/2 chicken and agnolotti were highlights, but the price point is pretty ridiculous, even by today's standards (I've lived in NYC x 20+ years and am quite accustomed to NYC dining). 4 unadorned shrimp for $27 at an E.Village upscale wine bar would be laughable if it weren't the reality. Happy to have gone, won't be rushing back.
Be the first to ReplyOverall love the ambience and the service.
However the food was underwhelming in my opinion. Like for example the pasta made me nauseous from the strong vinegar smell. All the food was just straight up salty and lacked a lot of flavor. The truffle artichoke bread was $50 which only tasted like artichoke dip. I couldn't taste any truffle which was very disappointing. Therefore Claud wasn't worth the hype
Be the first to ReplyI absolutely had high expectations coming in given how hard
I absolutely had high expectations coming in given how hard it was for me to get a reservation and I'm on the fence as to whether it actually lived up to the hype. The food was great but not out of this world. The kampachi was decent, the croquets were actually a bit too salty, the mushroom Miele and pork were definitely the stand outs, and the chocolate cake was also good/standard. The wine my server recommended paired well with everything, which isn't surprising since it's a wine bar. What likely makes this place special is the ambiance - it's not a big space but you don't feel cramped and has really nice bar seating.
Be the first to ReplyCute popular spot.
*escargot croquettes - worth a try but more of the escargot flavor with little piece of escargot inside.*razor clam with apple and horseradish - I would skip. Mostly apple.*country ham with sunchoke and red eye mayo - it was okay. I like sunchoke lately.*foie gras terrine with walnuts and honey vinegar - as it sound.*mushroom mille-feuille with whitney cheese - I can call it a fancy mushroom croissant with sauce.*chicken liver agnolotti - as it sound literally, mini version.*half chicken with foie drippings - pretty good.Overall okay but not sure about the hype.

3.5 for food5 stars for service5 stars for ambiance The escargot and devil's cake live up to their hype. The red shrimp was absolutely fresh but too salty. Even dipped in bread it was too salty.Chicken liver just wasn't my vibe. The kampachi was good but not life changingly great.
Be the first to ReplyTLDR: I'm gonna be bold and say best chocolate cake in the
TLDR: I'm gonna be bold and say best chocolate cake in the city. If it were easier to book I would come often!Sat at the bar with a friend and ordered six dishes to share. I think this was the proper amount for two hungry guys. We started with the razor clams with apple and horseradish: clean, refreshing, light and great introduction to our meal. The escargot croquettes were crispy on the outside and soft inside. When you bite into them you'll find pieces of escargot and buttery deliciousness. I wasn't expecting to like the sizzling shrimp as much as I did. I was skeptical because of how simple the dish was but with the bread, I couldn't get enough of it. The mille feuille was my favorite dish of the day. Lots of umami and flaky buttery goodness. If I could eat one everyday without any adverse health effects I would. The chicken liver agnolotti was great as well but it was extremely rich. I don't recommend this dish to people who don't care for liver or pate but it was delicious. I understand the hype. We ended our meal with the cake and I think this was one of my favorite desserts this year. It's been almost a week since I've been to Claud and I'm STILL thinking about this cake. It was chocolatey, moist, with amazing texture. Service was casual; I felt the staff were all affable and fun. Restaurant was also well decorated. Great spot for a date. Overall: one of my new favorite spots in the city and can't wait until I can have that cake again.
Be the first to ReplyThere was literally nothing I didn't love about Claud.
Okay, maybe I didn't like the process of getting a reservation, that's kind of ridiculous. I just want to eat good food. Anyway, I was able to get a reservation for yesterday, Saturday, evening at 5:30PM. I was seated at a snug corner spot at the bar. It was cozy and perfect. The restaurant is tiny so it's very understandable as to why it's hard to get a reservation. The food, though, is on another level. I had the razor clam [$18] with horseradish and apple. It was so refreshing. I definitely wanted more but it was a good way to start the meal and excite me for what was to come. The foie gras terrine [$25] gave me feelings. The first bite sent tears to my eyes. It was so luscious and comforting. The sourdough bread on the side, you could lock me in a room with it and I'd be more than okay. The candied walnuts were *mind blown* as well as that honey vinegar. It was a jelly! The chicken liver agnolotti [$22] was just as epic. They were little pillows of richness and tart [the balsamic type sauce it was in was out of this world, plus more sourdough bread!]. The size of the dish was perfect to be honest. There is too much of a good thing. The pistachio bundt cake [$13] shouldn't have been as good at it was. It was crazy good - so light and airy with a hint of pistachio. I couldn't have asked for a better dessert after a rich meal. I also had a glass of Riesling and an orange wine. They were both great. I'm not a wine expert but I would 100% get those again. I paid $133 after tax and before tip. Not a cheap dinner but I would come back without thinking twice about the price.

I actually came here last year to try it out with one of my best friends, and I remembered really enjoying it! However, at the time, Claud was still super new in the restaurant space, and my friend and I only got a few dishes when we went. With another whole year of experience, I therefore wanted to try it again with another friend who hasn't been here before, so I booked a res (which was much harder to get nowadays) and we went right after work.Upon entering, the interior was just as remembered: super cozy and wonderfully chic. Everything felt so modern and hip, from the light fixtures to the chairs to the tables; I commend whoever designed this place. We were greeted by the hostess, who showed us to our seats at the bar, and my friend and I began perusing through the menu to choose what we wanted to drink/eat for the night. After some pondering, we made our choices, which came out to be the following:Drinks:Bamboo - This is Claud's only mixed drink on their menu (since they primarily specialize in wines by the glass and by bottle), and it was pretty good! Both my friend and I got it. Definitely pretty sweet (I forgot what the components of the drink were lol), though I will say it does have a somewhat of a medicinal taste to it, so if you aren't into that, this drink its probably not for you.Food:Escargot croquette: one of the first two dishes that first came out of the kitchen, this was an absolute delight to eat. The outside was so wonderfully crispy with a smooth and creamy interior packed with flavor. I really loved both textural components of this dish, and the flavor itself was very umami, which is what I love personally. Def would recommend.Razor clam with apple and horseradish: the other of the two dishes that came out first from the kitchen, this was a cold dish that was super refreshing and very flavorful. Lots of acidity from the apple and horseradish that I think paired very nicely with the seafood flavor of the razor clam. Also very light, so I would also recommend this if you want something pretty easy to eat and digest. My friend loved this dish.Red shrimp, olive oil and garlic: the next dish to grace our palates, this def had to be one of our favorites of the night. The shrimp was cooked PERFECTLY, being wonderfully tender and bursting with flavor. However, the dish came with a side of bread, and this is when it truly shone, because combining the shrimp, olive oil, garlic, and bread together, this dish was absolutely chef's kiss. 10/10, would get again, so, so delicious.Grilled cabbage with sunflower seeds and dill: a nice vegetable dish to go with our very seafood-forward selection. The cabbage was nicely cooked and still retained a nice crunch which I really liked. The sunflower seeds were also a great textural component. Pretty simple, but recommend if you want something light on the palate!Chicken liver agnolotti: this is the dish that I saw absolute e. ver. y. where. So many pictures on Beli and Yelp and etc., so naturally my friend and I had to try it to see what all the hype was about. It was definitely super delicious! Pasta cooked perfectly with a smooth and very, very flavorful filling that had a strong chicken liver flavor. I can for sure see why it was so popular, but I will say it was super rich, and both my friend and I were struggling to finish it just because it was that rich. Still a good choice, and I recommend it since it seems like on of their signature dishes.Mushroom mille--feuille with whitney cheese: the last dish we got for the night, and man...I freaking LOVED this dish. The pastry was SO, SO flaky and crispy and paired SOOOO nicely with the mushroom and cheese filling. The flavors were all so spectacular, everything worked so well with each other. This had to be my favorite dish of the night; a mushroom lover's dream, would come back here just for this dish tbh.Dessert:Dessert wine - my friend and I could not end the night without getting another drink, we both elected to get their one dessert wine selection by the glass, and it did not disappoint at all. Was super sweet and smooth; I really like dessert wines, so this hit the spot so hard. I don't remember the name of the wine unfortunately, but just ask for a dessert wine when you go and they can pour you a glass!Devil's food cake - same thing with the chicken liver agnolotti; this was EVERYWHERE. But this time, my friend and I literally fell in love with the first bite. Literally a chocolate lover's absolute paradise, the texture of the cake was soft and moist, while the chocolate ganache was rich but not too rich. Twas such a wonderful end to an amazing meal, I would also come back just for this cake too because it was just. that. good!Overall - I am so glad I decided to come back here for another spectacular dinner. Everything, from the food, to the drinks, to the vibes, to the service, was immaculate, and I definitely would come back. Highly recommend; go get that reservation!!

Trendy spot in easy village for delicious food but a bit pricey. Two apps and two mains, no drinks or desserts= $150 after tax and tip. Extensive wine list, but be prepared to $$$ on a bottle.Food:The most popular items are the onion and anchovy bread, mille-feuile, agnolotti and cake. We ended up ordering none of them but choose to try some of the other menu items.Sourdough- complimentaryFoie Gras Terrine - worth a try, very buttery Cabbage - simple but well executed dish, a big fan Pork Chop- cooked perfectly and so freaking goodTrout- skin was crispy and not dry at all. Reservation: There's been some social media hype that has made it difficult to get a RESY. A mix of the younger and older crowd, which gives it a unique vibe. It's a small restaurant and limited seating.
