Upon entering, we had made a reservation and got seated a couple minutes later. We sat outdoors, and the noise is moderate. Depending when you go, we went for dinner, so it was noisy. Waiters there always ensure you have water. They refill it whenever it is low! This is a big green flag to me. Then, for the chips they also refill when you ask or they notice the chip basket is not full. If you're super hungry, you'll have to wait a while for your appetizers and then entree. So, just keep note of that. Food was alright. I got a steak for dinner, and my parents got the Mexican Paella. I asked for medium rare, and it didn't come out that way. Still tasted good, but the greens underneath the steak were soaked with butter or oil, and it honestly was not my cup of tea. I didn't eat it because I would've felt sick after. The Mexican Paella was good. I don't have much input on it. It looks like a paella.

Have been coming here for years and it never fails to be one of my favorite spots! This time instead of food, we tried several different cocktails and dessert only. This is hands down the best coconut margarita out there! The Lavender Carajillo was interesting! I didn't taste a lot of lavender in it but the drink overall was good and I'd order again. The only drink we both agreed to not like was the espresso martini. Perhaps because it didn't not have any cream or sweetness to it, but we asked for a side of simple syrup which helped! As for dessert, we tried the buttercake. I could have done without the apples on it but the cinnamon ice cream on top was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyThe Carne Asada plate wasn't that good.
The meat had absolutely no flavor. The appetizers were great, the place was clean and the staff were great, but the couldn't refill a water glass without spilling water all over the table. Overall we had a good time but those cooks need to be on their game.

I stumbled upon this with a friend after walking along Harbor Island. The bar located at the end of the harbor and is first come first serve. We experienced exception service from Brooks! He was genuine in conversation and recommended drinks that fit our flavor profile. He was a delight to chat with and enjoyed his local recommendations for our weekend trip! Will certainly recommend to others visiting!
Be the first to ReplyI organized a group lunch here for 26 people.
We all game from sailing, so we were definitely parched and hungry upon arrival. Servers were on top of us for drinks and food. They were quick to replenish our chips and salsa too! I enjoyed the shrimp tacos for my main course and they were so flavorful, fresh, and just so good! Highly recommend.

As twilight embraced us, my companion and I discovered this enchanting locale to wrap up our Sunday. From the tantalizing platter of oysters to the exquisite main courses and the heavenly desserts, each morsel unfurled a nostalgic journey. The mesmerizing waterfront vista bestowed a magical aura upon our appreciation for residing in San Diego, where we luxuriated in the fruits of our labor. Our visit was a celebration of our diligence and the privilege of calling San Diego, the quintessential gem of the United States, our home.

A colleague and I stopped in for dinner due to a suggestion from a local friend. This place was culinary heaven. the drinks, the service and the quality of food were the best we've had all week. I've attached a few pictures. We ordered four separate appetizers split an entrรฉe, and there was not a single thing that came out that was not plated beautifully and packed with incredible taste. Great work folks. This is a spot you need to hit. More details on the attached photos.

I took my mom to Coasterra to celebrate her birthday and we had such a wonderful time! The food was delicious, the view was stunning and though I didn't have a drink, they looked delicious. Our server, Erin, was attentive, informative and very friendly. She truly made our experience unforgettable!

Can't beat the views! The views are the reason for the high prices, but the food was delicious! For this type of restaurant, I mistakenly read the lunch menu for dinner and went there with expectations of tacos and enchiladas on the water. However, we stayed and the food was delicious. I had the salmon and my wife had the trout. I had a margarita to start and it was my least favorite part... it was very salty and hard to drink. Service was a bit slow but the views made up for it! I had wished a manager would have come over to check in since we had very slow service but it's all good. Would recommend to visitors but there are a ton of Mexican food restaurants in the area for those looking for traditional Mexican cuisine. Also, 5% surcharge for rising costs is annoying - just adjust your pricing!

Came here to kickoff our friend's birthday weekend as this is one of her favs. We had a bottle of bubbles waiting at the table for us to start the festivities. Our server was non-existent for quite a bit and the bottle sitting there was quite awkward as we just kept staring at it. So birthday girl decided to dive in and open it herself, to then have the server come running a couple mins later after the bottle popping sound because almost an "alarm clock" to get in the game bud! He ran over saying "wait, that's what I'm here for." Well, where have you been buddy? It was just an awkward start to the meal as it didn't feel polished that when you're buying a nice bottle of bubbles, you want the experience to be inviting and momentous from the outset... this not so much. We got pouring and let it go. We were seated outside, which I kinda wish they gave us a heads up as it was quite chilly. Even with the heaters, as the sun went down, it became markedly colder. I had called ahead of time to arrange the champagne, so wish they just gave a heads up on the table as we could have all brought an extra layer as to be honest, the actual heaters started to dwindle as the night went on. The cocktail list is wonderful. So many amazing drinks. Loved the caesar salad, really great dressing. Overall, everyone loved their food. I found almost everything to be WAY too salted. I ordered Mary's Chicken and from what I read, it was going to be super moist and juicy... not so much. Pretty dry and kinda reinforced why I avoid chicken dishes when going out. The dish was supposed to come with charred broccolini, but it showed up with grilled asparagus, luckily I'm not picky, but as a waiter, that's something you point out to the guest that the menu doesn't line up with what you'll receive. There were actually a few other changes to the scallop dish that didn't line up either and others ordered that too, so just do a solid and let people know what they are getting, esp when these dishes can be upwards of $50+.Our server did a solid and gave us a free pineapple butter cake for the birthday girl. It was very good and a nice gesture. Overall, this place had lows and highs, but wasn't what I would have expected from this place as I wanted the service to be a bit more special, attentive, and feeling celebratory. The food was hit or miss too. Some folks raved and some dishes were just too salty or the steak not cooked to order. I think there are far too many other places in SD to outshine this place. So yes, the water view is a nice idea, I don't know it's fully worth it.
Be the first to Reply" Meh.
" Had a Monday night reservation. Received a call to confirm it, so I assumed when we arrived to celebrate a birthday, we'd be greeted with a 'right this way' feeling. Not so much. We were on time. Had to check back in with the front to ask if our table was ready yet, and waited 15-20 minutes. Oysters were excellent. Service was off. I hope the ownership or chef to please taste their Calabaza en Mole de Pera menu offering ($32) It's honestly the worst thing I've eaten at a restaurant. Coasterra use to nice, super-cool, and delish. Location and view is epic. Been a number of times. Overall ambiance and music even changed. Really disappointed by this last time. Maybe these were all mistakes and they were just off last night. It happens. My impression is this has become an airport Sheraton-shuttle/one-time tourist or work meal spot, and not so much appealing to returning guests or locals.

Food was pretty decent, but throughly enjoyed the drinks and views! The service was very good as well! Highly recommend checking it out for a sunset dinner date!

Views and ambiance great and the coconut margarita was delicious, I'll definitely be getting it whenever I come back. The poblano chili burger and fries were good and very filling but I wish there was some raw onion or more lettuce to add some freshness to it but I would still get it again. Although, the al pastor shrimp tacos were my least favorite. It was seasoned well but the rest of the plate was a bit bland and underwhelming and the tortillas were soggy. I don't have it pictured but the calamari was seasoned super well and was delicious, i loved the fried jalapeรฑos. Our server was spot on with his recommendations and suggestions!
Be the first to ReplyCame here for lunch and most of the food was delicious.
Their calamari appetizer was good, but their ceviche was meh. I wouldn't order it again. I also wouldn't order their pastor tacos again. The tortillas were soggy, so it was hard to eat. Their mole enchiladas were very good. I'd order those again! Our friends really loved their burger and their surf n turf quesadilla. Our server provided outstanding service! Shoutout to that guy!
Be the first to ReplyThe view was beautiful.
The food was just meh and definitely overpriced. The service was just ok. I would come here for the view and the ambiance, but not if I wanted something good to eat. Even their chips were too salty.

Service is mixed - we had a very friendly server. The view is great!
Be the first to ReplyGreat views, good service, good food.
Got a few drinks by the bar while waiting for a table. Comes with free chips and salsa. It good Mexican food, nothing fancy, but tasty. We all had tacos, shrimp, chicken and mushroom. I even tried the lettuce taco option, was good for health conscious folks. The rice and beans are good. Would come back for the ambiance and view. Good place for a friends gathering.

One of the warmest and most pleasant greetings, from the moment we entered, Shawn greeted us as he was walking by, was very friendly and helped us find a seat. The service held the tone with the friendly smile and great drinks. The ambience was wonderful but the staff made the experience even better!

This review is long overdue! Coasterra is my hands down go to if I want a beautiful view great food and service! Every time I have someone visiting or a birthday etc this is my default spot. I've tried many different cocktails here, appetizers main dishes and desserts and it is literally always on point. They have a coconut something margarita that is killer and a pineapple cake that will make your eyes roll back in your head! I've done restaurant week here, cocktail hour birthdays and it is just the best! If you can get a seat on the water that is ideal as they have an incredible view. Long story longer, 5 stars, go here!
Be the first to ReplyFood was very average compared to the price.
Service was below average in my opinion. The waitress forgot my drink and napkins. She kept walking around like she's busy but never saw her servicing her tables. Went there for my wedding anniversary dinner and definitely regret it. Should have gone to Island Prime. Only thing we enjoyed was the patio view. If you are not into food and just want to eat somewhere with a relaxing view, then this is your place.
