Dal Bolognese Roma Reviews
Conflicting advice
Booked a table and assured by the waiter that tailored shorts would be fine. Phoned on the day of the booking to confirm, only to be told that shorts are not acceptable.
Very disappointing.
More like a tourist trap. The food looks good on paper but when it comes out, there is abfeeling it was bought and cut up in a local deli and is a couple of days old... I am sorry but it can be so much better.
Complaint About Unacceptable Treatment at Dal Bolognese, Rome
Dear Dal Bolognese Management, I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding the way my family and I were treated during our recent visit to your restaurant in Rome. We had a confirmed reservation for 7:45 PM. However, upon arrival, we were met with a heavy rainstorm. Despite having our reservation, your staff informed us that it was not accepted, and instead of offering any assistance or shelter—especially considering we were with our 4-year-old child—we were simply turned away and left out in the pouring rain. Being treated this way by an establishment of your reputation is not only shocking but absolutely unacceptable. A complete disregard for basic hospitality, especially towards a family with a young child, is something I never expected to experience. I hope you take this feedback seriously and take the necessary steps to ensure that no other guests have to go through such an unpleasant and inhumane experience. Sincerely, Mauricio
Unpleasant experience with the manager
It was an unpleasant experience for my birthday. It was a hustle to make a reservation as the restaurant only takes reservations through the phone. Tried to book a month ahead and the lady said it’s too early. Book again two weeks prior to the day which comes back with the same response. Call back 1 week prior, managed to book it but only available at 10:15pm. On the night I was wearing a dressed shirt and formal shorts. I got denied by the manager called Paolo as there was a dress code which I wasn’t aware of. He mentioned the dress code policy is on the website, but it is only available in Italian. I came up with alternative option to sit outdoor for my birthday dinner but he denied it and asked me to leave in an impolite manner. Also, he asked me ‘where am I from’ as well which I feel violated as well. I will never come back to this restauran
Dal Bolognese is a vibrant, upscale restaurant located in
Dal Bolognese is a vibrant, upscale restaurant located in Piazza del Popolo, a ten minute walk from the Roman Steps. Here you have refined dining in a relaxed atmosphere bustling with VIP's, locals and celebrities. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. The service is old school and excellent; their signature dish of Tagliatelli with Bolognese is delicious and a must; as is their fried zucchini and ravioli. You will not find better pasta in Rome. They have an excellent wine list. This restaurant is one of the very best in Rome. Highly recommended, reservations required.
While in Rome, my husband and I made a reservation for
While in Rome, my husband and I made a reservation for 19:30 at Dal Bolognese. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only one other table occupied by a father and son. To our surprise, we were seated right next to them, despite the abundance of open tables. When we asked to be moved to a more private spot, we were informed that the restaurant was fully booked for the evening. Sure enough, within about 30 minutes, the tables were filled! The atmosphere was romantic, quaint, and quiet - perfect for a cozy dining experience. My husband ordered the sea bass filet and I ordered the bolognese tortellini, which was hands down one of my favorite meals in Rome! My husband loved the bolognese but found the sea bass too fishy and thought it didn't pair well with the vegetables on his plate. I happily disagreed and finished both his fish and the veggies. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with delicious food and a charming ambiance. Highly recommend making a reservation!
So disappointing.
Over the years dining at Dal Bolognese has always been a treat I looked forward too, I visit Rome at least twice a year and have just returned from my most recent visit. Yesterday was probably my last visit for dinner at Dal Bolognese unless more of the past returns, the food was good but the experience far less so, the front of house welcome was surly and rude the maitre de insisting my reservation was for outside until I was able to speak to the receptionist who sorted the issue out with grace. There has been an increase in the amount of tables in the main dining area which makes it all to close for comfort for the dinners and the staff, who are rushed off their feet. Of course this is all about getting the number of covers up…..and of course profit, the speed of the courses being served is more like Macdonalds, than a first class restaurant which of course means you can get 2 or 3 sittings at each table for dinner, Dal Bolognese’s reign as one of the of the best restaurants in Rome is over and has joined the fast food service of the restaurants in Piazza Navona, such a shame……… maybe the ownership has changed, the experience certainly has.
Bolognese troppo romano
Excellent, but recently the quality has gone down. Maybe they’ve changed chef, maybe the ingredients (meat and tomato sauce=ragù) are not the same: I do not know, but I go there often and now it’s different. I would put it anyways among the top of the restaurants hit parade. Prices are very high. And honestly I do not like the lack of space between one table and the other. Worth it now and then, but not often.
Highly recommended
No defects, everything perfect from the location to the service Don't say the Fabulous food ! I recommend tagliolini with space culatello ragout!
Dal Bolognese lived up to its reputation! We visited twice
Dal Bolognese lived up to its reputation! We visited twice and no thank you four days! While the restaurant is located on the Piazza del Popolo that is heavily visited by tourists, the food was outstanding! The best bolognese I've had! We also shared the asparagus. The second visit we had the pumpkin ravioli and the spinach & ricotta tortellini. Both were excellent pastas! A must visit! See you next time we're in Rome! Very attentive service in both visits! We sat outside and watched the world go by! Great 'Roman dining experience!'
Superb..
Must be in the top 5 restaurants in Rome. Excellent every time. Local crowd. We had the lasagne and the Ragu, and to start the waygu bresaola, just superb.
A little overrated due to its reputation
Frankly not exceptional restaurant a bit jet set very good commercial welcome the dishes not exceptional for a restaurant of this reputation Honestly to do it once just otherwise I won't go back
Very good food and very good service.
The bolognese was the best I've ever had. Will come back.
My first time at Al Bolognese
A Sunday lunch full of good food, kindness and competence of the staff. Their products are the result of a search for excellent quality. The courgette flowers are the best I've eaten, the meats delicious, the side dishes excellent, not to mention the desserts. Thank you!
TOP RESTAURANT IN ROME
HIGH CUISINE WITH EXCELLENT RAW MATERIALS. THE WINE LIST IS SATISFACTORY. ELEGANT ENVIRONMENT. IMPECCABLE AND FAST SERVICE.
I always happily eat the same things, next time I'll change the menu
I have always known this restaurant, I don't go there often but every time I decide to go there it is always a very nice evening. Tonight I ate and drank without reading the menu because I have always had the usual dishes, unique mortadella which you can only eat there following the instructions. tagliolini with white culatello ragout and finally the selection of boiled meats. I always eat the same ones and always drink excellent Lambrusco. I've read that many people complain about the prices but I have to admit that for what you eat the price is honest. Today, however, I decided that the next time I go back I will change the menu and it's time to do it after so many years. Don't you believe?
Unprofessional staff, especially the Russian-speaking hostess
We visited this restaurant with friends for dinner. The unfriendly attitude began from the threshold, from the “Russian-speaking” hostess, who did not show that she spoke Russian at first. We just stood on the aisle, waiting for something unknown, then it turned out that she was not sure that they would be able to seat us according to our reserve time. A few minutes later, after we asked if she would take our outerwear, she extended her hand: let’s do it. I hung two coats on a hanger 🤷🏻 ♀️ The food is generally not bad, but not the best that can be found in Milan. The waiter at first was also not particularly polite and friendly. At the end, when we paid the bill and went to get dressed, of course they handed us our coats without saying a word. There is no need to talk about “thank you, goodbye.” In general, the impression is twofold, I advise you to change the hostess.
It relies a lot on the Brand…
In Piazza del Popolo Tables too close together. Way too much Consequential acoustics Mozzarella and raw appetizer. Good "Pressed" rice (this is not the "name" of the dish but this is it) with parmesan. A "brick". Nothing much High price but it suits the location
I am a Bolognese afficianado-it's my go to pasta dish;
I am a Bolognese afficianado-it's my go to pasta dish; recipe inherited from Mother/Grandmother from the Bologna region. No cream is added! The restuarant served it as 3 meat sauce; which was excellent. They are a bit arrogant or nonchalant, and I am sure this is due to the traffic which is mostly "tourista" on the Piazza del Popolo. I think wait the staff gets a bit hardened dealing with customers who don't speak the language and question the definition of every item on the menu. That aside, the atmosphere in the evenings on the Piazza and a good glass of wine make this an excellent location for dinner al fresco.
