Stunning food and ambience !
Loved that the menu was in Italian, don’t be put off , as is quite fun to work out what everything means. The staff also recommended choices and side dishes. We both had different cuts of meat, which were just incredible. The side dishes of beans and spinach were beautifully seasoned with garlic and salt. Whole meal was incredible. They only take cash so be prepared ! Also have the cantucci biscuits and dip in the il Santo shot they being with the dish….. so tasty.
Be the first to ReplyA bit of Italian heaven
Our very first stop when we landed in Florence. I think we hit a winner here. Cozy, yet stylish atmosphere, quite a few locals. Attentive service from the managers / owners. We don’t speak or read Italian - he very patiently made recommendations. I had the tomato bread soup - I cannot imagine finding a better version of this. My husband had the tripe - raved about it. I also had the Pomodori pasta - flavorful and light. A lovely red wine by the glass. Finished the meal with an excellent espresso, and warm apple flan. Already booking to go back later this week.

Food was delicious all around. Only negative thing: it was really hard for us to order since the waiter didn't pay attention to our table.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, good service, authentic Tuscan cuisine
I had black crostini and Penne al ragù. Everything was really delicious. Not expensive and very good quality.
Be the first to ReplyGood simple traditional Tuscan fare. Not sure why michelin rated though.
Florence has so many restaurants. How to choose? This small, simple and busy tightly-packed restaurant was recommended in The Guardian newspaper and seemed to have a slightly different to menu to the rest, and to cater well for vegetarians. In fact it had quite a small menu with limited (though sufficient) options for veggies. They had the tomato pici, which can be found in most Florentian restaurants. It was tasty here, but again I would say didn't strike me as a cut above other places. The meat eaters had Florentine steak, cooked in the traditional way – crispy on the outside and very red inside. It was super tasty for red-blooded carnivores. The traditional dish after which the place was named – fagioli (white beans) – was tasty but I have to confess that I could not tell a great difference between that and the ready made jars that you can buy in supermarkets! Waiting staff were overworked, and so not super friendly.

Wow. This place is remarkable. The food has a very home cooked flair. The Ossobuco is absolutely fabulous., As are all of the other dishes we tried. We have been there twice already and will be returning during our weeks long stay in Florence. Be sure you make a reservation and Be kind to the very nice and helpful staff. By the way, in my opinion you should pass on the famous Florentine grilled steaks which are a simple dish and try some of the home cooked braised specialties.
Be the first to ReplyGood tasting food by a family run restaurant
We wanted to eat at a different restaurant however we did not have reserved and that restaurant suggested us to go to this family run restaurant. The menu is only in Italian and they accept only cash. Our host explained dishes to us in English. We had some steak dishes, pasta, meatballs and white beans. Everything was delicious. It is a small place but as I said before, food is amazing.
Be the first to ReplyBest Meal in Italy!
Del Fagioli was steps from our Airbnb and our host recommended it and booked for us the night we arrived in Florence. Wow, are we glad he did! We travelled around Italy for 12 days and all agree that this was our best meal. Service was friendly, and they helped us translate the Italian menu (don't be deterred by a restaurant that only has a menu in Italian - those are the best). Three of us had the steak which was seasoned and cooked to perfection and our daughter had a ravioli that was the best pasta she had the entire trip. We had a variety of starters and sides - I will be dreaming about the potatoes and trying to recreate them for a long time! In short, Del Fagioli is exactly what I was looking for in an Italian restaurant, simple, high quality ingredients cooked/prepared to perfection. We went to another similar highly rated Florentine restaurant the next night, and although it was good, the execution at Del Fagioli was so much better. We hope to be back someday!
Be the first to ReplyOMG! Best dinner that I had in Italy
Best dinner that I had in Italy was here. We covered a lot of ground over 16 days, and traveled to many cities, but the best of the best was right here. I had researched this restaurant in advance, saw the excellent review and that it was Michelin starred, and made a reservation. This restaurant did not disappoint. The pici pasta was so delicious! The pomodoro sauce tasted like the tomatoes had just been picked from the vine that day. The pasta was perfectly homemade. And then the Steak Florentine that we shared.....ah, words cannot describe how delicious that steak was. Best steak ever. Truly. Wish I did not live 9,000 miles away. I would be eating here all the time if I lived locally. Thank you Ristorante Del Fagioli for treating us with such an amazing meal. Loved the fact too that the restaurant does not have a stuffy uptight feel to it. Such a warm, welcoming and friendly staff. Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. It deserves it's Michelin star for sure.
Be the first to ReplyDelicioso and great value!
We had been down in the Piazza Santa Croce area visiting the Christmas market, and took Corso dei Tintori back west. I recalled that Rick Steves had mentioned this place in his Florence guide, so we gave it a try. They were able to seat us without a reservation.
We first tried their antipasto of white beans and onions, and it was absolutely wonderful...very oniony, just the right amount of salt, and the white beans' flavor shone through. Mandy ordered the tube pasta and red sauce, and I got Osso Bucco. Both so good. Her red sauce tasted like biting into a fresh warm tomato from the field, and my beef was fall-apart tender with a savory sauce. We washed it all down with an excellent €10 liter of house Chianti. Definitely worth the €53 tab, and would have gone back if we'd had more time in Florence.
DESASTRE!!
Do not really know how they end on the Michelin guide! You Michelin “person” should be more careful! MeAt has no flavor. The place sucks NOT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL and not re
