Loved our waiter, and the baked alaska (invented here) was delicious!! Also, the black cod was the best piece of fish I've ever had.

Finally tried this iconic NYC institution and my expectations were exceeded. The ambiance and service were impressive, but the food was all prepared perfectly. We enjoyed Caesar and wedge salads (very interesting versions), excellent crab cake, delicious steaks and Lobster Newburgh, mushrooms (Asian preparation), great hash browns, and chocolate cake. The famous Baked Alaska did not disappoint! Can't wait to return.

Delmonico's was outstanding! From the service to the ambiance and of course the food. My friend and I had such an amazing experience. We started with the Maine Crab Cake (see video) which was an explosion of great flavor. I ordered the Filet Mignon and my friend ordered the Signature Delmonico. Our sides were the Pomme Puree and Grilled Asparagus. Everything was cooked to perfection. The hollandaise foam on the asparagus was nothing like I've ever experienced before. We finished our meal with the Baked Alaska to which our server gave us the historic story behind the dish. (I recommend reading the full history of Delmonico's on their website). Our server was very attentive and gave us a memorable experience. I wish I lived here in New York so it could be my little guilty pleasure.

Delmonico's is exactly what you expect from the oldest restaurant in New York City. A stuffy, white tablecloth, steakhouse with service catered toward corporate card dining. Our waiter seemed entirely disinterested in our experience, failing to explain the menu, adequately answer questions, or stop by and check on us. Unfortunately this is a through line that I've experienced at several old school steakhouses in NYC, who seem obligated to drag along subtle discrimination as part of their heritage, assuming that certain people are dining on a budget. We weren't. Thankfully, the food was not as disappointing as the service. The filet mignon was well cooked and I adored the Wild Mushroom Risotto. The Yuzu Cheesecake was also a refreshing and delicious addition to an otherwise standard menu.
Be the first to ReplyI have no complaints about their food and service.
However, they included the credit card fee into "taxes". People sure will miss that credit card fee because it was listed as "taxes"
Be the first to ReplyDelmonico's is my ultimate favorite quintessential New York
Delmonico's is my ultimate favorite quintessential New York steakhouse! Their food and service are incomparable. Whether it's for a work lunch or dinner date, nothing quite satisfies the way well-made, high quality food can do, particularly steaks! From Delmonico's Chilled Jumbo Prawns, Oven Roasted Turkey Club, to Hand-Cut French Fries, all outstanding. Delmonico's Dry-Aged Bone-In Ribeye, all 22-ounces, is fabulous, and must served with their delicate Shallot Beef Jus. Delmonico's invented the legendary Baked Alaska (banana gelato, walnut cake, and an apricot jam with torched meringue), my favorite NYC dessert besides anything that Bronx native Shaun Velez makes, NYC's best Pastry Chef at DANIEL (Boulud) -sophisticated desserts driven by both ingredients and seasonality.

I've been meaning to come here for some time now, but ever since they closed I haven't had the chance to. Since they finally reopened at the end of last year, I felt like it was my time to finally hit up this New York institution. My sister and I started with the Yellowtail Crudo and the Crab Cake and very much enjoyed both. The Yellowtail was accompanied with bits of crispy rice and ginger which added texture and freshness to the plate and the crab cake had both presentation and texture added on by the potato string cage. For mains we got the Delmonico's Cut of steak and Mushroom Risotto. That cut of steak, as well as the color and preparation were spot on, super delicious with that signature char. The mushroom risotto was also great (maybe a little bit liquidy) but it was creamy, rich, and cheesey, and the white mushrooms on top were pickled so they contrasted the rest of the dish really well. The side of creamed spinach we got was also divine. For dessert, my sister and I both got Baked Alaska and while this is definitely not the standard flavor combination today, it is the original so we went for it anyways. I like the banana gelato and the walnut cake, thought the apricot jam incorporation isn't really too my taste. Just as well, it was still nice to try it! The service throughout the meal was pretty spot on as well as the food and I'm glad that we got to finally try this historic spot. I will likely return.

Our experience was exactly what we were hoping from a restaurant like Delmonico's. Food was excellent. The biggest surprise was the wedge salad. The presentation, the flavors were unexpected for a salad. Delmonico's steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The building is full of history.

I sold all my crypto and took my woman out to the best steak house this side of Wall Street. As soon as I walked in I felt like Leonardo DiCaprio playing Jordan Belford in a 2013 comedy. I put on my best H&M chinos and pressed my target button down and off we went. Me and my lady both got a baseball steak and talked politics and money. The steak was delicious. We washed it down with a baby tub of mashed potatoes and finished it off with a baked Alaska and cheesecake. I've only had fried Hawaii but can honestly say they both taste amazing. I highly recommend stopping by.

As a loyal patron of Delmonico's, I was eagerly anticipating its reopening. Prior to the pandemic, it held the top spot as my favorite dining destination in the city. However, my recent experience dining there for the first time since its reopening left me feeling disappointed. The once esteemed steakhouse, in my humble opinion, seems to have lost its edge, now offering mediocre fare at almost double the previous prices. Our meal began with the Oysters. Topped with an overpowering mango sauce, they failed to impress and left me wanting. On a brighter note, the short rib Tortellini was a standout, offering a burst of flavor that momentarily lifted my spirits. However, the Delmonico Steak, ordered Black and Blue, fell short of expectations. Lacking the robust flavor it once boasted, it arrived overcooked. Precision in steak temperature is a basic expectation for any reputable steakhouse. The side dishes offered a mix of hits and misses. The French fries, though accompanied by an excellent dipping sauce, arrived lukewarm, while the Broccoli Rabe was a commendable addition to the meal. To cap off the evening, we indulged in the Baked Alaska, only to find it markedly different from its former glory. Half the dessert remained untouched, a stark departure from the clean plates of the past. It appears that Delmonico's may be experimenting with its recipes, but the results are not in their favor. As someone who once frequented this establishment (I even lived across the street), I find myself questioning whether I will return in the future. Regrettably, it seems that Delmonico's will no longer hold the title of my go-to steakhouse.

Outstanding food, superb service, beautiful restaurant and good facilities. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant for that special occasion. Fine dining at it's very best.

We go here primarily for meat when it's a special meal, but it's great for a lot of specialty items too: their house made hummus is to die for, their wine selection is great, and their customer service is top notch (Brian is so nice and skillful). We love them.

Went out for a great Steak with a colleague and Delmonico's definitely did not disappoint. I usually will order a dry aged ribeye when I see it on the menu. But this is Delmonico's and of course I ordered the "Delmonico", it was as perfect in texture, temperature, flavor, and portion size! They have other dry aged options, but this Delmonico was a wonderful Ribeye great marbeling and trimmed nicely ... Absolutely Great! Perfect char crust. (yes I ate the entire steak, no doggy bags) The service was super, the wait staff team are extremely professional and attentive, literally anticipating our next request! Amazing wine list...I will definitely be back! (Great value, I have spent more for steaks that were not nearly as good!)
Be the first to ReplyThey overcooked my wagyu steak.
That is a sin. The service was horrible. I felt like a second class citizen yet paid the same price as everyone else. You are the oldest establishment but not the only establishment. People spend $300+ on a meal, don't make them feel like they don't belong. I am all about tradition but tradition is about good experiences not keeping the old bad ways. Please do better for the next people.

My favorite NY steak house! Have never been to the downtown location but the one on 37th street was awesome. The steaks are first rate, the drinks fabulous. My drink of choice is a Kier Royal. Excellent! Love everything I have ever ordered

Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I went to Delmonico's 12/18/20.
This was his favorite steak restaurant. However, the steak was very tough. My Delmonico steak taste like it was freezer burned. Ate 1/3 of it. My husband usually eat 100% of his food. But this time not at all. We have been to Delmonico's many time. This was the worse. Also the seating was horrible seat 12. Next to the bar and entry door. The waitress was great! We will not return!!!!!!!!We hear Longhorns make a GREAT steak....

I will start by saying I like Delmonico's food but I am disappointed by their service. When I went in February 14, 2020, they placed us in the downstairs room with no other diners for a solid 40+ minutes with the excuse that they were just very booked for Valentine's Day, but I will point out that they seated the guests before us and after us all upstairs. This was when quarantine had not quite reached NYC yet but racism was growing against Asians and Asian Americans, so although we initially gave them the benefit of the doubt, we slowly began to realize we were being placed out of sight. I am extremely disappointed by the service that night, as it revealed something unpleasant and backwards under the covers at Delmonicos.
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite steakhouse.
Wagu beef always cooked to perfection, sizzling and juicy. Asparagus is to die for.
Be the first to ReplyApparently Delmonico's was the first restaurant to use
Apparently Delmonico's was the first restaurant to use table cloths? I believe it, because this place is old as hell. But they manage to keep it looking old while also being clean & refined. A hard line to toe but they do it well. I visited pre COVID and I would put it top 3 in my favorite steakhouses. I had a wedge salad & a boneless ribeye which is their signature I believe, very solid. It's one of those preserved old school New York institutions that are rising in popularity. Hopefully Delmonico's opens soon and I can pay them another visit.

Small things I'm thankful for: 1) That I got to experience Delmonico's pre-COVID; 2) That it didn't go the way of so many NYC historic restaurants and suck (cough*GramercyTavern*cough). Yes, folks, America's first fine dining restaurant has still got it. Let's hope they still have it when we emerge from...whatever now is. The famed Lobster Newberg was so large, I was able to split it with my friend. While the sauce was a little more alcohol-y than I like my lobster sauce (point of order: I should always be drunker than the crustaceans I eat), the tender meat made up for it. We all split the Baked Alaska (six people) and loved every bite of its decadent, creamy sweetness. Incidentally, creamy sweetness is the nickname I give my wifi.Service was on point through and through, and they even generously offered us a free round of wine--just cuz. While the cherry wood and heavy fabrics might make the interior seem dated, I kind of like that they retained that old school ambience. All in all, this is probably the best "legacy" restaurant I've been to in the city so far.
Be the first to ReplyBeen here twice and can never complain.
The most luxurious restaurant in all of NYC. Prices are high but the food is out. I had there famous Delmonico's steak both times I also tried a few of the appetizers and couldn't be more happy. If you have the budget its one of the best places to go in the whole world.
Be the first to ReplyWell, now that I have some time given that we've been
Well, now that I have some time given that we've been sidelined by coronavirus, I can catch up on some of my reviews and reminisce on what it was like when we actually could go out to eat. And this is as good a place as any. Why not start with a restaurant with a cut of steak named after it, among other culinary innovations. If you care mostly about steak, I'd give this place 4.5 stars. It has everything you ever dreamed of in terms of steakhouse ambiance. Think, lots of fat, meat eaters (myself included) in an Uber-formal setting with lots of scurrying around by tuxedo-ed waiters. Nostalgic bric-a-brac- evidence of the restaurant's storied clientele and history- abound...I mean, how can you help not getting into the meat-eating spirit in environs like this? And I could wax poetic all day, but you're mostly wondering about the food. To that point, this is what I'll say:The eponymous Delmonico cut was truly, truly everything you could ever want in a steak. Just perfect... I just wish I had ordered that one instead of my selection, the bone-in ribeye which is normally my favorite cut. I mean, mine was still great. But at these prices (did I mention you're going to pay out of the great gazoo for the pleasure) it better be. The steak was still really excellent but I'd say it wouldn't make my top 5...The rest- we had the Baked Alaska and a bunch of other over-priced mediocre accouterments. But, honestly those are things we order just to give our mouths a break from chewing meat. So whatever...Overall, I'm glad we had the experience. Would we return? Maybe if we won the lottery. Otherwise, definitely worth trying once.
