Di Fara Pizza New York Reviews from The Last Year
Yes, I'll admit it.
I trust Dave Portnoy's pizza reviews - it's to the point where when I conduct business travel, I'll only stop at places he rates at an 8 or higher. Am I becoming a pizza snob in my old age? Probably. I don't care. I told someone that I've lived in various cities in CA most of my life, and tried plenty of pies there. Taking chains out of the equation (which are mostly inedible), I believe some of the worst NY pizza (which includes New Haven, CT) would rank amongst the best in California. My continued pilgrimage to experience pizza excellence this particular trip brought me to Johnny's in Mt. Vernon and Di Fara deep in Brooklyn. I tried two slices - one regular and one square. The square one (maybe a grandma slice?) featured a thicker crust with more "heft", while the thinner crust had an extra crunchy crust. Zero flop on both. Pristine undercarriage. This place is a bit unique in that it featured pieces of ripped basil, which added a certain subtle boost of flavor. I'm normally a pepperoni or sausage guy. However, I wanted to have this one naked - no toppings, just cheese. This is the only true test of a pizza's base level of quality. Let me state unequivocally. Johnny's was extremely tasty, but Di Fara was on another level of unf---king-believableness. Nirvana. Manna from heaven. Pure bliss. All of it. You need to come here. You should be ashamed of yourself, because you SHOULD'VE been here already. Dave gave this a 9.4 - I'm giving it a 9.8. Enjoy.
Pizza is also nice and fresh.
It was cheaper before Dave Portnoy came but pizza is good nonetheless.
The wait time was worth it for the pizza.
The service was average but WOW was the pizza amazing. Highly recommended. Eat here

All the amazing things you hear about the pizza at Di Fara
All the amazing things you hear about the pizza at Di Fara are absolutely true. This place is serving up quite possibly one of the best pizzas in Brooklyn and possibly all of New York
Parkings a bitch but the pizza is the best.
Ordered a pie to go around 3:30 pm. Double parked out front ran up got pie and thrn sat in traffic on the belt for an hour with the divine smell of NYCs Best Pizza wafting in the air. Couldnt reach back far enough to grab a slice. LOL. When we got home we attacked it. Truly lives up to the hype!!!!
Best pizza in NYC! It's worth the wait.
If you want a whole pizza, you can call 20-25 minutes in advance for pick up.
Wow, can a pizza be that good? This place is zero hype, you

Just damn good NY pizza.
Can't ask for anything more. You want authentic old school NY pizza, made with fresh ingredients and you are in South BK, make your way here.
The absolute best pizza I've ever had in my life.
We tried 10 different pizza spots on our trip and Di Fara was by far the best. Yes, you'll have to wait. Yes, it is deep in Brooklyn. But I promise it is worth it. The crust was the thinnest, most crisp I've ever tasted. Its crisp even beats the top New Haven spots. I loved that they made the slices to order, not reheated. The ingredients were simple and fresh (they get everything from Italy). I have been dreaming about this pizza every day since our trip. The shop is exactly what you'd expect, very small and looks straight out of the 60s. The staff were so friendly and patient, the vibes of the place were excellent. There is a very large Orthodox Jewish population in the neighborhood. It was really cool to see so much culture and diversity. If you are a pizza fan of any kind, you absolutely have to make the trek to Di Fara. It's life changing!
So much delicious pizza! I like their basil! Nice place.
Try and enjoy) metro station near
Great pizza in a cozy environment.
Was a bit of a wait but well worth it. Go at night when there is no one for the best experience.
I was in town and drove here because of the old man's story
I was in town and drove here because of the old man's story on social media. My brother and I consider ourselves pizza experts. We went out of our way. First sign something was up - no lines, the front gate was up on an angle. Went inside and place was not clean. There were some strange looking people behind the counter. So I tell them I'm up from Florida raised in Brooklyn give me a pie and a square. $6 a square, $35 for the pie, I did not care this was the famous pizza. IT WAS TERRIBLE. I said no way so I googled the place and found out the old man had died a while ago. The old man is gone and so is his pizza.
Overhyped and overpriced in my opinion.
Good pizza, but I've had better, and for a lot less money.
Be careful...
Very neglected place, it certainly doesn't give you an idea of cleanliness. Pizza not bad but.... The clerk takes my order, I ask for 1 slice of pizza and a drink. I pay around 11 usd..it seems expensive but you know, N.Y. is expensive.. After 5 minutes he brings me 2 pieces of pizza. I was hungry, I didn't object but he couldn't have misunderstood. While I'm eating, a customer like me arrives and orders one piece... she serves him 2 and when he points it out he says he misunderstood. Well…for the same thing to happen in less than 10 minutes makes me think it's their modus operandi. They pretend not to understand... Extremely disappointed by this incorrect way of doing things... down to earth... I wouldn't go back
Always the best
Never does this establishment disappoint! Always the number 1 pizza in NY, thin dough, excellent fresh ingredients and one of a kind taste!! No other pizza for us!
Excellent choice!!!
Excellent pizza, friendly staff, fair prices!!! We came in by chance and the choice couldn't have been better... if you're around the Brooklyn area and want to eat a good pizza you can't help but stop.

I have a reservation for Kasama Chicago I listed but it’s not showing up because the listed opening hours are only until 3 or 4 pm. My reservation is for their dinner service at 5. Is there a way I can change the times myself?
