Renowned restaurant Taipei, Taiwan, in a prime location inside Taipei 101. Always crowded with wait times of over 30 minutes, but good service and easy menu choices as you wait for a seat.

What's not to enjoy about Din Tai Fung? This is a gorgeous location in a busy part of town but still well maintained and worth the trek up for good dumplings. Great variety of vegan/plant-based options so there's something for everyone. The sesame spinach noodles, string beans, and previously enjoyed dumplings are some of the standouts here. Sadly there are still no vegan XLB to be had but I'm sure it'll come in due time. Sadly, they forgot about my vegan dumplings and I didn't have the heart to try and ask for them once everyone had already finished. A small ding on what was already a nice meal. Reservations are a must and be prepared to sit down and enjoy a nice meal with great service.

What a great experience!!!!! We enjoyed several dishes and loved the busy atmosphere and delicious food! Expensive but worth every penny. Our waiter was helpful and explained the menu and even made recommendations. The short ribs were our favorite and the lychee martini was sweet and refreshing.

Ambience was amazing and I felt like I was right back in Far-East...service was spotty -- lots of mess-ups in our order. We did order a lot but the minimum of $1600 for a group of 20 sounded very very excessive and our group had to scramble to hit the minimum towards the end (almost felt like gouging!) Here's what we ate and I am ranking it from best to worst (this is totally subjective and my opinion so take it with a grain of salt!) 1. String Beans and garlic - I inhaled an entire plate of this 2. The Xiao Lon Bao - any kind of- all good !!! The soup dumplings are brilliantly executed and you can't go wrong with the chicken, pork and crab - all of them are good! 3. The Shrimp and Pork Pot Stickers - were delicious ! 4. Chicken Fried Rice - could have used more flavor and oomph! 5. Hot & Sour Soup - bland and disappointing 6. Boba Teas - just meh! 7. Shu Mai - Avoid! Will I be back - time will tell !!!

Din Tai Fung at the University Village shopping mall (on
Din Tai Fung at the University Village shopping mall (on 2nd floor of the parking structure near the Tesla shop) is an upscale dumpling restaurant that offers comfort food with exceptional service. Their Chinese/Taiwanese cuisine is a delight, featuring a variety of dishes such as dumplings/xiao long bao, wontons, and noodles, often using similar ingredients in different combinations. They also have a good assortment of vegan options. The price is on the higher side when considering the portions, but it's the price you pay for great service and quality of food. The restaurant is popular so it's typically packed. But despite being busy, customers move in and out quickly thanks to the efficient staff. With that said, there was an awkward incident where our host had somehow forgotten about us while seating us so we were left awkwardly standing in the middle of the entire restaurant for a few minutes, but one of the supervisors were apologetic and fixed the situation. The flavors and presentation were all there. I ordered the Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao, Chicken Xiao Long Bao, Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork Wonton Soup, and Noodles with Minced Kurobuta Pork. Restrooms, tables, menus - everything was clean. I also used the convenient yelp feature of joining the waitlist which you can do ahead of time when you're within a certain proximity to the restaurant. This will carve out a good 15 minutes from your wait time!
Mandatory lunch as a tourist
We waited 1 hour to be seated as it was on a weekend. As a first-timer in Taiwan we just had to try and see the difference in taste and quality, but we were pleasantly surprised as everything we ordered tastes exactly as what they serve in Dubai, except they have pork options.
Friendly Nice service
Very nice friendly staff, always smiling and always pack with people. Still the same taste after a year going there. Nice service.
Food was great!
The food was great and delicious. Service was good but somehow, as it was quite busy (as it was a public holiday in Taiwan), would take time to ask someone for help. Tricky, you should have to arrive earlier, at least 30 minutes before the store opens to get the ticket; otherwise you might have to wait more than an hour!
The best Xiao Long Bao
The best Xiao Long Bao I ever had is at Din Tai Fung. The quality is very consistent and always good. Service is always good but could be a bit slow depending on how busy it is at the time. Highly recommend this restaurant chain and this location. While waiting for my table, I could always do my shopping which is plenty to choose from.
Excellence no matter the location
I have already visited their location in Singapore and was looking forward to eating there. I was not disappointed. The dumplings were excellent and the side dishes were great as well. The service was outstanding and the food arrived quickly. They were using robots to deliver the food. It was fun watching the robots run around. The only negative was the Hot & Sour soup. It was terrible. Canned soup would have tasted better.
Not Worth the Long Wait!
Din Tai Fung is a Taiwanese restaurant chain most famous for its xiaolongbao (steamed pork dumplings). Although the 101 branch officially opens at 11am, the wait for a table at 10:45am is approximately 1 hour! Customers can pre-order their food online while waiting in the mall area. Servers are accommodating. Food is delivered by a meal-bot, which is very efficient. However, the poor quality definitely is not worth waiting for. Signature dishes are not impressive at all! The skin of the various xiaolongbaos is very thick and a tad bit dry. Noodles are lukewarm. The smooth and flavourful House Special Spicy Vegetable and Ground Pork Wontons (NT 180) is the only recommendable dish.
It's a loooong wait
We arrived at 5 pm to queue for a dinner table. Apparently we weren't early enough and we waited nearly 2 hours. Food ranged from ok to good. Not outstanding. We were ravenous so we were able to order a great variety of dishes. Must order dishes include siu long bao and beef noodles. Being a very busy restaurant, expect lots of noise and movement around you. After the long wait, our mobile phones were out of juice. We brought a charger but the restaurant refused to charge for us because there's an adapter attached to the non-Taiwanese plug. And no charging if you didn't bring your own charger. We are tourists so.... no recharging phones and no Google maps after that.

There are multiple locations. Reservations are highly recommended for parties of 5 or less. They do not take reservations for parties of 6 or more.You can watch them make fresh dumplings through a window in the restaurant. They are known for their soup dumplings which is so juicy and savory. Everything we ordered was so good. The wok fried noodles and chocolate dumplings were everyone's favorites.We'll definitely visit their other locations on future trips!
Heard about Din Tai Fung nonstop, so I had to see what all
Heard about Din Tai Fung nonstop, so I had to see what all the fuss was about. If you want your dim sum fix or miss your Chinese Mom's homemade dumplings and potstickers, you're at the right spot. Bonus points if you want a boujee scene and want to feel fancy with great service. The chocolate buns are intriguing but tasty, the XLB is great, and the potstickers are crispy and juicy!
Always speedy service.
Certain 'go to' food I love there include their green beans and the veggie dumplings are great. Not many vegetarian options other than that but still great food. Bustling atmosphere if you like that. Kind of a drag they don't take reservations.

Our absolute favorite place to frequent for fresh food and out of this world dumplings. Everything we've had on the menu so far has been a winner! Of course the xlb are their feature and are absolutely delicious. I've been surprised by how good the vegetable dishes like cucumbers and green beens are, they also make lots of great vegetable dumplings if you have vegetarians in your party. My favorite savory dish is the pork spicy wontons, the chili oil is just delicious. The sesame noodles were a surprise hit the last time we went as well. But, I have to say that the real star of the meal of me, are the chocolate mochi dumplings. There is no other way to describe this wild experience, it's like biting into a hot brownie lava! The texture and rich flavor are absolutely amazing, like nothing I have ever had. I could eat a whole order on my own. Service is courteous and efficient, we never wait long to eat here. Sometimes you can get a day of reservation on a weekday, but best to look a couple days out for prime times.

I liked the pork soup dumplings over the crab and pork dumplings. The pork buns were a little bready to me, but that may be how they're supposed to be - I much preferred the dumplings over the buns. I had a salted cream black tea, which was so good. I really wanted to try the 8 treasure sticky rice, but I guess they removed it from the menu - a shame. The dessert of chocolate dumplings were so good, I would have ordered another plate if I hadn't filled up on the pork dumplings. They were like little pouches of authentic, thick drinking chocolate. It was a very busy place, rather loud, but it didn't feel too crowded. I loved watching the dumplings being made behind the glass.

This is a such a great place for Dim Sum!! So perfect every time we go. I took out of town folks who loved it as much as I do. It's so funny that if you go anywhere else in U-Village on a Tuesday it is pretty chill. Yet it's packed at Din Tai Fung!!

Lives up to the authenticity claim and the hype
We had been to DingTaiFeng in a couple of its California locations, all are good. But we hear the original DTF in Taipei is the best, so here we are. Visiting Taipei for a week and this is a top must-try. We came around 4:30p and waited about 10min, not bad at all. Once we got a number we were handed the menu with order sheet so by the time we got seated it was only a few minutes and steaming XLBs arrived at our table. We ordered two steamers of pork XLB, one crab, chili sauce shrimp dumplings, spicy cucumber appetizer, and a couple of desserts. Everything was delicious! The XLB was juicy and tender, yep tasted better than CA's, specifically the pork tasted better. My favorite was the chili sauce shrimp dumplings. dumpling skin was smooth and thin, chili sauce is not overly spicy either, very flavorful. The staff was attentive, waiters and waitresses were constantly checking on our table, removing empty plates, refilling tea, taking additional orders, etc. This location has three floors, general seatings are along narrow hallway, plus private rooms for large parties. Even though space is limited, I find their process and service super efficient without making guests feel rushed. We had a delicious meal and a great experience here. If you're a XLB lover, highly recommended.

Not worth it.
We waited two hours, for a party of four. The staff is nice and the inside is nice, however the food was just ok. We ordered lots of stuff. Veggie and mushroom dumpling, shrimp cake was pretty good. Shrimp fried rice was rated second in our group. Our friends said that the chicken ones were pretty good and they even put a little chick showing that they are chicken.
Good dinner at a busy restaurant
My husband and I stopped here for dinner on our first night in Taipei. It was a busy Friday evening, so we had to wait for a table, but the system for getting people into seats was very efficient. We liked being able to pre-order our food while we waited, so when we sat down, the order went in and food started to come out. The Xiaolongbao were delicious, as was the cold kao fu and thr vegetable egg fried rice. The mushroom dumplings and mushroom buns were good, but we would have liked more flavor. The staff was very attentive; there was a slight miscommunication about our drink order, but when we brought it to their attention, it was immediately and graciously fixed.

Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FluffyStar64, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FluffyStar64 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FluffyStar64 for any questions Peter may have as FluffyStar64 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FluffyStar64 now uses their connections at Din Tai Fung to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FluffyStar64 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FluffyStar64 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FluffyStar64's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Din Tai Fung!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
