Duck Duck Goat Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
Yes worth a second visit
After a rocky start, waited way too long for our reservation table. Things got better very quickly 3 of us with 1 vegetarian. The wait staff incredibly good at pointing out some great options and on how much to order Food was tasty and well presented A tad cramped but over all a good experience. We will go again Just be prepared for it to be very busy
Both Food taste and service was terrible .
Everything was too salty and we poured water to make less salty. We said about this issue to the server and one of other staff member but they didn't react anything. Don't go this place. I was so mad for service today. It was terrible experience ever.
Amazing everything Best short rib and bone marrow
Amazing everything Best short rib and bone marrow dumplings I ever had. Shishito peppers were a combination of crunchy and soft. Delicious drinks, amazing vibe.
Whoaaa! This place is a hidden freaking gem! I finally
Whoaaa! This place is a hidden freaking gem! I finally tried it after hearing a lot of hype from my friends. And oh boy, did it live up to my expectations. The ambiance has dim lighting, Chinese art work, warm and inviting vibe. My friends and I ordered from their vegetarian/vegan friendly menu. We shared scallion pancakes, veggie spring rolls, mushroom potstickers, glass noodles, mapo doufu and veggie fried rice. The portions are decent and it's super yummy, flavorful and perfect amount of spice for me. While all dishes were spot on, but mushroom potstickers stole the show for me. They were amazingly crispy, and delicious. We also got complimentary almond cookies after dinner. Drinks were also very good (we tried a few and all turned out to be incredible). The service was decent too and server did a good job in explaining the vegetarian menu. It still amazes me that this was my first visit here in spite being in Chicago for the last 7 years. Duck Duck Goat now is my favorite Chinese restaurant and I can't wait to visit again!
Excited to come here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday.
Had a reservation at 7 and had to wait about 5 minutes for the table to be ready- not too bad. We were seated and were t approached by a waiter for about 5 minutes. it was a pretty busy Wednesday evening. Ordered some drinks. took about another 10-15 minutes for the waiter to approach to order dinner. we ordered 4 dishes for two of us and it was plenty of food, with leftovers! We started with the xiao long bao. Nothing too exciting, had an interesting and salty broth. The hot and sour soup does not taste like your authentic type, and wasn't a big fan of it. The xian goat slap noodles were dry and had too much cumin. Very overpowering. My favorite dish was the veggie fried rice. Overall, food was not the best or impressive for the prices. And to top it off, service was extremely slow. I was shocked by the quality and taste of the food based on how popular this restaurant was! Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning and not worth the cost
Went here during Chicago Restaurant Week for their lunch
Went here during Chicago Restaurant Week for their lunch menu. Jiaozi potstickers were so good, kinda reminded me of Din Tai Fung . Their fried rice omelette was to die for . Each dining room inside were themed and well-decorated. Love the ambience. Service was very quick!
Went for brunch.
Food was tremendous! Service was great! We ordered too much, but ate 90% I think I gained 2 pounds. I like spicy foods and got the hot sauce trio on the side - perfect. Drinks are a bit pricey so maybe get tea or lemonade (great lemonade). Only issue is the same for many places there which is parking, probably best deal is to Uber there. Definitely would go again.
This place was a winner for the entire party of 4 I went
This place was a winner for the entire party of 4 I went with. I've ordered to-go from here several times before and loved it, but the dining in experience was even better given the prompt and efficient service, vibrant decor, aromatic smells, and sizzling hot and delicious food that came out of the kitchen. From appetizers, to entrees, to dessert, to cocktails, everything I have had here is a 10/10
Made a reservation a week in advance for 6 people at 5 pm
Made a reservation a week in advance for 6 people at 5 pm on a Saturday. Definitely a fun and unique dining experience. I will note that in the evening the lighting is low, but not too dark to enjoy your time. The food and drinks were reasonably priced for the quality of food. The portions are family style so I highly recommend sharing multiple dishes to try a variety of flavors and meals. A really fun spot for a nice date night or for a friend's gathering.
Stopped in here on a cold day when looking for lunch.
Super loud and busy place, but the staff is very at the attentive despite this. The food was okay. There was a hair in one of our dishes and multiple people stopped by to apologize and we fill they fixed the problem right away.

Went here for Chicago restaurant week, they had a planned menu and it was Amazing! Really recommend this place for sure.
Best fried rice ever
We visited on a small family trip to Chicago, the atmosphere is fun and cool and dark. The neighborhood is super busy so you mostly have to either walk in or get dropped off nearby. I was visiting with some family and friends and I'll be honest and say I'm not the most adventurous eater. I had looked at the menu before, and I didn't want to eat hearts or livers. I had resigned myself to eating GOAT since that's one of the main things on their menu. SIGH. I decided I could do that. So anyway I told my dining companions... maybe no hearts or livers? and we still found SO MUCH GOOD FOOD. Every single dish they brought to us was brilliant and delicous, even the goat. But the very very best thing, was the duck egg fried rice. You don't even know fried rice until you've had this. It's spoiled every single ever fried rice for me.
I'll be back for sure
We had a terrific dinner! Spicy, but not over the top. We were a bit early for our reservation and first enjoyed a Chinese beer at the bar. Very friendly staff. By the looks of they they do great cocktails. Our table shared the food, so we had the waiter pick some 7 different things of the menu. That was a great decision and much easier :-) The heart of duck might sound a bit scary to some, but it was to die for! The service was terrific; smiling, fast and friendly. all in all the evening felt lige great value. I'm coming back for sure 👍
Get the noodles!
Superb food. Good service. Our meals were excellent. The goat shumai special was really good and the xiao long bao were a nice take on the Shanghai version. The dan dan noodles were the star, though. The hand-pulled noodles were tender, chewy perfection and the sauce was very flavorful; so many dan dan noodles taste like a kid stirred some peanut butter in spaghetti. The decor is nice. The tables were a little cramped and the room was a little loud for an early Sat dinner before a show.
Ok. Better than average. Good service
Very busy place. Good atmosphere. Food was ok. The goat dish hardly had any goat in it. Not sure the place is value for money for something that is well known. Wouldn't go again. Not 5hat the food was disappointing but there are better places.
Not sure what the hype is all about.
It was just ok, as far as food. It was like your favorite takeout Chinese (in fact, they seem to do a healthy Grubhub or doordash business) but just a little cleaner and less greasy. Green beans and crispy shallots were my favorite. The fried rice was very cumin-forward, which was interesting. Everything else was average. Trendy (not in a good way) part of town. Noisy, busy, congested. Very good service. Air conditioning was not effective in the front of the restaurant. Final verdict? Ok food, but not a destination-level eatery.
Tasty and fun! Great for a small group.
The atmosphere is loud and full of energy. We went w 6 people and it was perfect as it offered more chance to try many items on the menu. Cocktails are fun (killer whale was my fave). The shishito pepper preparation is the best I’ve had. Everything we had was tasty. The scallion pancakes and the mu shu were standouts. The whole roasted branzino was impressive and delicious. They are happy to adapt the appetizers to fit the number in your group. I’ll return next time I’m in Chicago and will recommend this to friends.
Amazing unusual dishes!
We had a very nice dinner at Duck Duck Goat, which was recommended by a friend. We had the Jiaozi, Crab Rangoon and Dan Dan Slap Noodles. Everything tasted amazing! So much so that we forgot to take any photos! Our waitress was very helpful making recommendations and checked on us regularly to ensure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was cute, but quite loud and tables are quite close to each other. Still, we really enjoyed the experience and would definitely return to try other dishes.
Not up to par with Girl and the Goat!
Service was great as was the atmosphere. Each room was different but decorated nicely. The food was a bit of a disappointment as the menu is limited and the taste just didn’t do it for us. The soup was the best thing on the menu. Otherwise, it was disappointing. Don’t know what all the hype is about. We loved Girl and the Goat, but she should stick to American. This didn’t even come close to what we were expecting.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Give the best answerNewbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. Now they changed it that they will only fulfill it by 5pm that same day. Basically I would have an hour and a half to get to the restaurant. Is this allowed?

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
