If you crave dumplings:Dumpling Galaxy, Flushing, NY
I love Asian dumplings and this place did not disappoint. Located in the back of an Asian inspired mall on Main Street made for an adventure finding this restaurant decorated in a welcoming Oriental Motif. Romantic for a first date and subsequent date nights. The menu is extensive with a massive variety of dumplings prepared with traditional and inventive fillings and an assortment of skins (outer covering), prepared steamed, pan fried, you choose. Fillings included but not limited to an assortment of meats, fish, tofu, egg and vegetables. Authentic Northern style chines cuisine was also available. such as rice. noodle, soups and much, much more. Portions were large, tasty and reasonably priced. Complimentary tea was hot and satisfying. Service was unenthusiastic but efficient. Street, meter parking was available.

I've been all over China many times and Xio Long Bao soup dumplings is one of the world's great foods. I can say that the ones I had at Dumpling Galaxy were at least as good if not better than the ones I had in Yu Garden, Shanghai, where they originated! They were incredibly juicy and flavorful and we just went wild for them! ALL the dumplings were amazing! Flavors I've never had before like beef with fresh tomato or cod fish with fish roe - unbelievable. But it doesn't stop with dumplings - the stewed pork with preserved greens is the best I've ever had. I can't believe it took me so long to find this place and it has immediately shot to number one of my list of restaurants where I have to try EVERYTHING on the menu as fast as possible!. The service was, in typical Chinese fashion, very unobtrusive and kind - never in your face but fast and efficient.
Be the first to ReplyIf you are searching for that great "Dumpling Experience" in Flushing - this is a Must Eat place!
My friend and I were out eating our way through Flushing, with various food places to try. This was our last stop of the day, and we were not as hungry as maybe we could have been - so we only tried the dumplings - which were phenomenal. We didn't realize that they would be made with different types of dough (Carrot, Beet, Spinach and Flour) - and I guess you could ask for your dumplings to be made in just 1 type of dough - but having all the colors arrive on the plate was delightful. I've never had a fried dumpling the way this Dumpling Galaxy does it - it's unusual - and very tasty. I've posted a few photos of our steamed pork soup dumplings (where the soup is cooked inside the dumpling and comes splashing out once they are poked) and fried vegetable dumplings, and some sort of chive sandwich that my friend ordered. It was a perfect meal - exactly what we were looking for - and really looking forward to coming back to experience more of the menu. At 3-4pm on a Saturday - it was actually quiet in the restaurant which was nice, as the outside streets and surrounding stores were really busy today.

We were going to Flushing for the afternoon and looked up some well reviewed places to eat. Ultimately we decided on Dumpling Galaxy. The dumplings were great, the pork soup dumplings came out in all different colors! The pan fried dumplings were wonderful. I personally did not care for the traditional seafood dumplings, and I generally enjoy that type. But the rest were so good it made up for it. They also offer dessert dumplings.

Great dumpling selection! The more the merrier, go with more than two people so you can try different varieties of dumplings and not be stuffed after just a couple.

I had heard and read great things about the Galaxy, and after a nearby meeting made the quest. Mission accomplished. Tried one of each protein as well as seaweed salad. All were great. They were out of pumpkin soup and never brought water, but I was there for the dumplings. Driving and parking in the area is hell on earth.

This place is phenomenal. As someone who is Chinese, I can vouch for the authenticity of the food here, there is a broad selection and something for all. The Dumpling experience is interesting. There is a huge variety of dumplings and they certainly get creative with the fillings. Ironically, the dumplings are the least authentic but conversely most creative part of the experience. I would recommend the beef curry dumplings and to stay away from the seafood supreme ones which were a bit fishy even for my taste. All in all, highly recommend this experience. Get some of your usual staples and then have some fun and try something new!

we saw this from ny times and nymag and thought that it's good try. result: bad experience. not all dishes were bad but the dumplings definitely were. we sat in a booth table and we couldn't feel any AC (and it was like 90 degree outside). it's inside a mall and open, so it's constantly noisy with adults and children yelling. worst of all, there were two or three fruit flies constantly hunger for our food and a mosquito our blood!! the whole meal was understand constant flying insect threat. horrible!! anyway, here's our take on the dishes: green been noodle with vegetables: pretty good crispy calamari: pretty good fish in chili soup: best of all dishes. the fish fillets were very tender and good portion beef with scallion: too salty sauteed water spinach with preserved bean curd sauce: okay Tofu w. Crab Roe Dumpling: tasteless Duck Meat w. Mushroom Dumpling: way to salty and didnt taste the duck at all IMO, this kind of dumpling place is for foreigners, not chinese. of course, you can make dumplings with anything but most of them are just not good as we were deeply disappointed by the new style dumplings. and if we should just go back to the "traditional" dumplings like pork with cabbage, then why do we want to spend more and go to this place with constant threat of different flying insects? No way. Definitely not going back again.

Amazing quality of food and cheap prices! This restaurant is located inside a mall and the service is fast and friendly. A must get dish is the pan fried pork and chive dumpling. These pan fried dumplings are something I’ve never seen or tasted before. They are fried in the pan stuck together so you get a nice crispy crust on the bottom of the dumplings and when you bit inside it’s so juicy and flavorful. Make this a dumpling stop if you want to support a small business!
