RIP one dollar oysters and a great all around place.
Be the first to ReplyLoved the food and drinks that we got here.
Server was super understanding and got us drinks based on flavors that we preferred. And kept checking in with us. Loved the dark upscale ambiance and think is this a cute hidden gem. Plus they have a "speakeasy" in the basement to check out!

Too bad they're closing but don't go putting up a job ad knowing your closing don't be selling wolf tickets
Be the first to ReplyI've been to Punch House multiple times before, but this
I've been to Punch House multiple times before, but this was my first time trying Dusek's! I've heard great things about this restaurant, and all I can say is that it did not disappoint! First, the host was very friendly. We booked our reservation at Open Table and mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday. We arrived 15-20 minutes early for our reservation, so the host mentioned that since there's a birthday celebration, she asked if we wanted to be seated right away or if we can wait for a couple more minutes so we can be seated at her favorite spot at the restaurant, which was still occupied. I thought that was so sweet of her to ask, so we decided to wait and grabbed a drink at the bar downstairs! When we got the text that the table was ready, it was truly worth the wait! It was at this little corner/nook area which felt so special and intimate for our dinner. Next is the food.. the food was delicious. We started off with the Beet Salad (which was so yum) , Chicken Wings, and some baked Oysters-- all were so good and the perfect way to start our dinner. Then, we decided to go for the Boneless Short Rib and the Cavatelli for our main entree. Gosh the short rib was so tender. It came with brussel sprouts which were crispy and delicious. The Cavatelli on the other hand did not let us down. It was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. This won't be the last time I'll be eating here as I want to try their wood fired tasting menu next!! Service was amazing and ambiance was spot on.
Be the first to ReplyMediocre food and below average customer service.
I wanted to start off by how my initial experience went. We had a group of 3 and were seated on a Friday night in a restaurant that had numerous tables available. We were seated at a table right next to the kitchen and around a group that was pretty loud. I asked if we can be moved because it was noisy and with the music going we couldn't hear each other. The front staff member said they were booked and the tables were reserved. We sat there the entire night for over 2.5 hours and no one even came or showed up for those reserved tables. This was terrible, clearly out of 5 booths they couldn't give us 1. Overall the food is over priced and nothing really stood out. Our waiter was great, but this place needs to accommodate guests and not have a attitude or unwillingness to please a paying patron. I would never go back to this place because they seem to have a agenda for trying to be high end and barely hitting on any of those marks.
Be the first to ReplyBest burger in town.
The fries it comes with are a fierce competitor with any of the best fries you've ever had. We normally eat downstairs at punch house but Dusek's has always had amazing food, despite them taking some of our favorite items off the menu. Overall, one of my favorite spots in Pilsen.
Be the first to ReplyIn town for work and went with a group of 8 to Duseks.
We did the tasting which requires the entire table to do it. Hands down one of the best meals I've had in a long time. $70 per person plus $40 for the wine pairing is an absolute steal for this amazing food. Every dish was absolutely delicious. The wine was fabulous and paired perfectly. The staff was helpful, patient and friendly. The food was all amazing. Favorites if I had to choose were the scallop, pork belly, steak and Eton mess dessert. Would come back here in a heartbeat.
Be the first to ReplyThis place needs to bring back the black truffle foie gras
This place needs to bring back the black truffle foie gras fondue - one of the best things I've had in my years in Chicago. Entire staff is friendly and attentive. Great spot for any occasions you're celebrating in Pilsen. The place is so cozy and intimate. Can't really say anything bad about this spot. Highly recommend try out their rotating desserts.

We went to Dusek's for date night & what an experience! I booked the wood fired tasting menu which was a great option since we wanted to try new foods/ flavors and man were we blown away! We had no idea what to expect but our server walked us through the process- we choose our 4 dishes (one from each category). The portions were the perfect size just enough to taste/enjoy each dish. Before they brought our first dish, we received a taster which was delicious! I can't remember what it was since it wasn't on the menu but it was a toast something- So good! My favorite was the Slagel Farm Flat iron (who knew grapes paired so well with meat!) & the Pork belly (so tender...). I need to mention the ice cream sandwich with black garlic! Yes garlic! I have never tasted anything like this before and blew my mind! The orange paired with garlic was amazing! It's a must try! There is an option to do a wine pairing with the food but we just decided to opt for cocktails. This experience really opened my mind to different food combos. Will definitely try a tasting menu again, it was so exciting not knowing what to expect next! The restuarant/ambience was everything, the dim light gives it a romantic feel. And there's alot going on in the building so after dinner we headed to the speakeasy down stairs for some drinks! I'll definitely recommend and will be going back!

Incredible experience! This was my first experience trying a restaurant tasting menu and Dusek's Tavern has set the bar very high! The restaurant has lots of dim ambience lighting and seating options- we set in the more traditional dining room area. Our server was phenomenal and answered all of our questions eloquently! The actual food was mind blowingly good! I am a vegetarian and still had options and my meat- loving friends were in love with their dishes too! I will certainly be returning soon!
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I did the tasting menu for our anniversary.
We went on a Sunday evening & were the only reservation for the dining room, for the entire night. Service was friendly. The menu is seasonal & rotates; with the menu itself actually having the date on it (daily menu). We chose to dine at Dusek's Dining Room because they offer a vegetarian tasting option. We also did the alcohol pairing, which consisted of 3 wines and an espresso martini. Overall I'd say it was a great experience. In terms of comparing similar level restaurants that have tasting menus, it wasn't my favorite. However it was still a special experience.

We had one of the best dining experiences here on valentine's day with their prix fixe menu. Our server was funny and checked up on us frequently; the food was also delicious. What we ordered:Tuna Carpaccio: my fav. It was so flavorful! i liked the mustard seeds and the overall citrus tasteMussels: love this. it's a must-trySteak: the steak was a bit tough in my opinion but the sauce tasted greatCheeseboard: we ordered this separately and loved it! there were 3 cheeses, my favorite was the blue cheese hahaChocolate Cream Puff: cream puff tasted a bit dry but i liked the fillingOverall, we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. I will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyWe went for restaurant week.
Excellent service by the waitress with dried fruit earrings. Long wait for drinks, but compensated by the host. He was very charming. The eggplant toast to die for. The mussels "Oh my God!" Gotta try them. May go back just for that. I had the chicken-coconut curry. Very Goooood;)Really enjoyed the ambiance! Best restaurant I've been to in a while.

I went for brunch one day and I'm very glad I did! I ordered the biscuits and gravy and it was divine. My partner said it was the best meal of his Chicago trip! The flavors are unique. This isn't your standard biscuits and gravy! The service was very good. I remember my server being very friendly; he was the one that recommended the biscuits and gravy when I asked! We also got some French toast that was also excellent. The ambiance is casual yet smart.
Be the first to ReplyI just visited for the first time this past week because
I just visited for the first time this past week because they were doing restaurant week. We were able to book a reservation within 24 hours so that was a nice start to the visit. We were sat right away and received service almost immediately. The atmosphere was very nice and made for a calm late evening dinner. I believe our server's name was John? He (I apologize if you don't use he/him propounds!) was a younger bald guy with glasses and I think facial hair. He was amazing!!! He answered my annoying questions of which drink to get or what entree tastes better with full honesty and didn't make me feel bad for being one of "those" people. He took time to have a conversation with us even though he had a larger table and a seemingly big section. We never had to wait for him to come around again and he provided us with overall outstanding service. As far as food and drinks go, that's there I take away a star. Actually, the drinks were really good!! I got the Spritz and I planned on getting something else for my second drink but it was too good to not have a second one. My partner got drink jealousy so I recommend trying the spritz. However their drinks are *strong* so be aware if you're driving (also give yourself 15 min to find parking!) The food was the only thing about my visit that wasn't so nice. They were only offering the restaurant week menu which makes sense considering that's what we booked it for, but it might have been nice to be able to try their regular menu items as well, because I don't think I would go back based on the restaurant week menu alone. The RW menu featured 4 courses, which was better than other RW offerings that I saw (most did 2-3). We were told that the portions were pretty big for each course, and seeing that neither my partner or I had eaten lunch that day we were excited. We both ordered the avocado and tartare for our first two courses, then I ordered the chicken and my partner ordered the tenderloin. Everything tasted pretty good, but the portions were fairly small - especially given the fact that we were told the portions were big by an employee that night. The chicken was a little spicy for my taste but the flavor was there. The tenderloin was actually really good and decently portioned. The dessert was delicious. I think my issue with the RW menu is that the portions were fairly small and I don't think any food item we had was really outstanding considering the restaurant's association with Michelin's website. Ultimately I think they have great food quality, but for the portion and taste I think it's a little overpriced. I've been to other restaurants in Chicago that were more reasonably priced (or even similarly priced) but the money was much more worth it and I would consider them to be more deserving of any affiliation with Michelin. I didn't have a bad experience, I just don't think I would make any special effort to go back. I don't like leaving bad reviews at all and I enjoyed my visit, I just think it's a tad bit overrated based on all the hype I've heard about this place!
Be the first to ReplyOur daughter brought us here for a birthday dinner.
Everything we had was amazing! Each course was timed perfectly, and we loved our server! Drinks were delish!
Be the first to ReplyDusek, Thalia Hall, Punch House.
I once spent 6 hours here. It's my favorite place in Pilsen. Have seen so many shows and have had so many great dinners/times and cocktails. Punch too. It's a great place to hang.

Amazing food and drinks, service is great and vibes are so cool! Concert haul was great too the underground bar absolutely a great surprise! We'll be back for sure!!
Be the first to ReplyOverall, good choice for a pre-show experience.
One big advantage, if you dine here, you can skip the entry line and enter through the theatre through the restaurant. This is a bit of a hipster joint but it works. The food portions were large. Service was quick and friendly, and they gave me suggestions for the menu. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but would make it my first choice of seeing a show at Thallia Hall again.
Be the first to ReplyWe just tried this spot for the first time two weeks ago
We just tried this spot for the first time two weeks ago and we were WOW'd! Loved the drinks and the small but diverse menu. The eggplant starter is to die for and the mussels when we first visited were the best mussels I kid you not that I've ever had in my entire life- that harissa butter was BOMB! I would dock one star because two weeks later- or rather last night we went and I was so stoked to order the mussels again BUT they fell super flat and less than mediocre. They apparently hired a new chef who changed the recipe-- PLEASE BRING THE OLD RECIPE BACK! The manager came over though and asked how they were and I gave honest feedback and she took them off the bill which I was absolutely not expecting but found it to be really generous and kind and that's the kind of thing that will always bring me back and earns them 5 stars-- even if they did change the recipe. Atmosphere is super cute and dim- a really nice date night spot! So thank you for being an awesome establishment! See you soon Dusek's!
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately didn't get a chance to taste the food.
We arrived and were sat promptly by the hostess, we were excited to try their Bloody Mary's and food, but the experience then went downhill fast. After sitting there for 10 minutes watching several waitstaff walk by and serve other tables, and even staring down a few of them and trying to get their attention, we had still yet to be greeted or even asked for our drink order. I asked one the bussers walking by if they could send our server over, still 5 minutes later, no server, no greeting, no drinks. At this point, we had been thirsty and hungry staring at our menus for 17 minutes, we decided to leave and go somewhere else. Too many awesome places in the area. Would have totally given them a break if it was busy but there were only 2 or 3 other tables in the whole side of the restaurant we were in and at least 2 servers. From some of the other reviews, it looks like our experience is not isolated.
Be the first to ReplyVery comfortable vibe, creative food.
Recommend the pork. Also recommend going on Wednesdays for paired drinks!
Be the first to ReplyMussels are absolutely ridiculous.
.. TBH they do everything quite well here.

.. Amazing! You enjoy food? You gotta try this combo below!I had the garlic bread from snack section and the trout from seafood section.Garlic bread came out like challah bread with some garlic seasoning on top of the bread. Super soft and great with the sauce from the trout dish.Trout was so good! Fish was super fatty so it complemented well with cold cucumber and the special Soug sauce. Fish cooked perfectly with middle being ever so slightly pink. Also, can't beat the $21 price tag of the trout which at a different restaurant can be $35+. Portion size is just right for two people. If you want to pig out, you can order both of these for yourself, otherwise the combo of bread and trout can be shared between two people!I hope you end up enjoying this place as much as I did! Thanks!(Sorry no pics, finished the food too quickly)
