Expectations VERY NOT MET
After reading reviews, watching Mike Chen's Brooklyn Chinatown video I finally made it back here having tried once before but showed up when they were closed for renovation. Gave them some time after the renovation was completed. Now I have tried. Quite possibly the worst most tasteless dim sum I have had in New York. After the hype combined with my personal high standards I must ask. How did they manage to cook the taste out of everything I tried (5 dishes) and the only one with any taste was too salty...never a good sign. This is certainly not the East Harbor of my expectations. Will never return.

Four of us enjoyed lunch at East Harbor Seafood Palace this past Sunday. Not our first rodeo here, weโve been here before and keep coming back. The selection was broad and all items were extremely fresh. I was most impressed by the way the carts moved efficiently through the dining area, so you never had a long wait until another cart came by with more tempting options. We selected from the full range of dim sum options, from the familiar shiu mai and pork-veggie-shrimp dumplings to tofu skin-wrapped vegetables and turnip cakes. East Harbor Seafood Palace has some of the best, if not the best, dim sum Iโve sampled over more decades than I care to remember. Service was great as well, courteous and helpful in identifying what was on the carts. While we ended up waiting nearly an hour for a table, it was well worth it. I guess thatโs what happens when you produce consistently excellent food at impossibly low prices (did I mention how inexpensive it was?). The lines form up early, so go early and grab a table. You wonโt be disappointed.

Dim sum is generally a breakfast to brunch to lunch kind of Chinese food. It's generally a Chinese family tradition. But in East Harbor, many non-Asians are regular patrons as well. This place gets packed on weekends and wait time for a table can be an hour or more. Food is pricey but tasty and service is good. Dim sum is available until about 3pm, then traditional dinner dishes are available. Group dinner parties and wedding banquets are regular occurences, especially on weekends.

A nice Place inside , the wait staff are attentive and the food was pretty good but expensive. we 3 had 4 dishes family style and sodas $100.00. wow. Nice place but can't afford to come back.
Be the first to ReplyThe best in NYC so far!!!
We have tried many dim sum restaurants in Manhattan over the years. We happened to see this restaurant mentioned when we were checking the size of the respective Chinatowns in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. Itโs the best weโve found in the city. The place is large, bright and FULL! The carts come by frequently and have a great selection of dishes. It has the feel of some dimsum restaurants we found in Hong Kong. Weโll definitely come back!

Oh. My. God. You have not lived until you've had Dim Sum at the East Harbor Seafood Palace. I went with a Chinese friend of mine who eats here regularly. Everything was amazing. I see myself going here again--and soon. Wow. You have to try it for yourself!
