When you go to Eleven Madison Park, you go with the highest
When you go to Eleven Madison Park, you go with the highest expectations. And despite everyone's high expectations to experience the best meal of their life, they still maintain nearly a perfect score on Yelp. That really says all you need to know. I think their adoption of vegan menu was brilliant. I'm not vegan, but I enjoyed the meal immensely and I'm so impressed that instead of just doing what people expect they are adventuring boldly into new frontiers of culinary experimentation. They are leading from the top, showing the world that vegan food can be excellent. While I'm not personally vegan I know the planet needs us all to embrace more plants in our diet. Another perfectly cooked steak from a top tier restaurant is fine, but go to Eleven Madison Park if you want to experience food at a level of excellence and innovation you won't find anywhere else. I rarely find restaurants live up to the hype so high expectations can be a curse, Eleven Madison Park exceeds them.

This weekend was the first time I've been there since they went vegan. Overall the food was very good, the staff was friendly, but there were some inconsistencies. Some servers who would explain the dishes were not as thorough as other servers serving the same dish to nearby tables. The service started off very good but we felt like as we came to the end, the service fell off significantly to where we felt like we were forgotten about - the table next to us started after us but ended up finishing before us.

just book it...lunch, dinner, at the bar, whatever you can get. absolutely amazing. the service was also out of the world and they bent over backwards to accommodate my sister, who suffers from Celiac. I hope one day to return. perfection!

What an maxing experience here! From the staff, to the attention to detail, to the descriptions of the food. I truly enjoyed my time here. My reservation was at 9:15 so I do have to admit, staff did get a little lax once we got closer to closing time but overall I truly enjoyed my time here. The chef's here are doing an awesome job of making plant based dining a delicious journey.

I made a reservation for Saturday lunch, and it was a 6 course meal for the bar tasting menu. We were stuffed by the end - they offer their bread (onion this time around with onion butter topped with garlic confit) repeatedly, I think partly to make sure you are full. We got two orders of those. ONION: the food was so cozy, and a nice start to the meal with food that tasted familiar in some way. Tea with Roasted Leeks and Brown Rice Marinated Leek Salad Rice with Onion and Thai Basil SWEET POTATO: this was my favorite. A well contrived balance of sweet/savory as well as crunchy/soft textures. I could've eaten 6 of these. Fried with Plantain and Sea Fennel GAI LAN: there was some pasta wrapped around the vegetable, which added to the flavor. Not my favorite but still liked it. Steamed with Black Truffle and Myoga MAITAKE: My 2nd favorite. I haven't had too much seitan before but again the textures and flavors of this were nice, although more familiar with the dark soy sauce/sweeter taste. With Pine, Seitan and Juniper MANGO: the white one was my favorite, which was wrapped in white chocolate. The saffron was a bit too tart? With Kulfi and Pistachio SESAME: nice end to the meal with housemade vermouth. They even had a nonalcoholic version for my wife that was sweeter and grape-forward. Pretzel with Chocolate Cocktails: I ordered the Sansho, which was strong and refreshing, but not as nuanced with other flavors as I expected. Tried a sip of the Squash which had more flavors to it I think and a sip of the Cashew which was very creamy. My wife ordered a coffee and they kept refilling the cup, without any rush to get us off the table. Really quality service all throughout. They also gave us Granola to take home, a bit on the sweeter side for my taste but I really like the texture. Forgot to ask for a menu to print out but I asked through email so I knew what I got. All in all, a little under $300 a person with tax and tip. The most expensive meal I've had but worth the experience.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here after seeing it on Netflix's the "Twin Study".
It's apparently one of the top restaurants in the world, I think maybe #3. It used to have an omnivorous menu however, the chef Daniel Humm decided to go all vegetarian. It's easily one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. If you're willing to shell out the money, go. We have eaten at some pretty nice restaurants here and there throughout the city and my husband said this was the best he ever had. This is high praise coming from him because everything else is just "alright". You can probably see each course in the pictures attached but it starts with a tea/consumme thingy and then moves into the solid foods and finally ends with a sorbet dessert thing. The best dish? The bread lol. Their rolls are completely vegan and their butter is made out of sunflowers and coconuts and the 2 together are a match made in vegan heaven. I think we had about 2 or 3 orders of the bread (they offer it to you so if you want more you can have more). It was that good. It's warm and flaky, almost like a croissant. The rest of the dishes were very good, flavorful and each had their own unique texture and flavor profile. For some reason, I found the sorbet at the end a bit strange, or maybe I was just really full. The interior is beautiful, service was great and ambiance was wonderful. Very quiet and the wait staff are very orderly. A wonderful restaurant that you should try at least once in your life.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is an absolute disgrace.
I have no words. They had plenty of reservations available and would not let us reschedule so they could keep our $700 payment. The staff is rude and unintelligent. NEVER MAKE A RESERVATION HERE. Run far away!
Be the first to Replyfriday, march 1st special black truffle dinner event
friday, march 1st special black truffle dinner event approx $1,000/guest was a major disappointment. having experienced the dinning room at least a dozen times and a private dinner upstairs, the event friday evening was a major letdown. it was akin to a quiet reception at a budget hotel minus carpet stains and scuffs on the wall. the atmosphere and service screamed impersonal. the up charge for the better wines was not worth the two sips of each pairing served. the cocktail reception area had exactly four tables...not at all welcoming for the attendees lining the walls . personally, we enjoy both white and black truffles...even go hunting for white truffles in italy. sadly, the black truffles served friday did not "dance" on selections served. all truffles "dance." it was a very expensive sterile event that made me wonder if dinner was being served by unenthusiastic off duty flight attendants.the personal connection between the guest and serving staff in the main dining room was missing. sorry, but i have loved every dining experience at eleven madison park until march 1st. what happened????? still a patron

TLDR: Disappointing for a 3 Michelin Star Restaurant I want to start off by highlighting that the presentation, ambiance, and service were all impeccable. The tasting menu of 11 courses came out to $400+ per person. For this price tag I was expecting a way better flavor profile from each dish. Sadly, most of the dishes fell flat. The presentation and style were all there but at the end of the day, no savory dish made me feel like I have to return for this bite. The desserts however were standouts for me. I particularly enjoyed the Chocolate pretzels.

Without trying to sound repetitive, EMP delivers exquisite food and service. Their winter menu was radish-heavy but tasted and looked delightful nonetheless. Everything from ambiance to the service choreography was truly deserving of its Michelin stars. My vegan husband was truly blown away that one of our servers noticed he was left-handed early on and repositioned his silverware. We couldn't have been happier to have been fortunate enough to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my birthday at the only 3-Michelin stars, plant-based restaurant in the entire world!

What an amazing dinner at Eleven Madison Park, a definite highlight to my trip for sure. Eleven Madison Park is the only restaurant in the world that is fully vegan and has 3 michelin stars when they recently pivoted to a full plant-based menu after reopening after their pandemic closure. Walking in, I told them my name & they immediately took my winter coat to hang and sat me down at my table. The ambiance here is very calming with dim lights and tables spaced well apart but not too far apart. Food:The restaurant has a few different menus to select when you make your reservations. There is the full course (8 to 10 courses), a bar setting with less courses and they recently announced a shorter dining room set. The menu changes with the seasons so it is always different.I had booked myself for the full experience. Every course was centered around a certain vegetable or flavor. The shiitake mushroom course was definitely my favorite as well as the tofu course. They also provided some bread and spread in the middle of the dinner set that was absolutely amazing. Service:Service here was top-tier as to be expected. I was called earlier in the day to ask if I wanted to move my reservation earlier since they had some openings. When I originally made my reservation, only the 915pm slot was open. I chose to keep my time though, but I appreciated the call. Every course was carefully brought out to me and explained what it was. Servers were quick to clear off my table once the course was done. The pacing of the courses was also nice. TL;DR - well worth the trip to Eleven Madison Park and I'm sure I'll return in the future.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful restaurant, delicious food, love that it is 100%
Wonderful restaurant, delicious food, love that it is 100% plant based. The staff are amazing and service was exceptional. They take allergies and dietary needs serious. The food was all delicious and well thought out--just a glitch with the dessert (ice cream in winter...but the taste was pleasant). They offer a kitchen tour, which should be the standard across restaurants. They also give a little gift bag to each guest and that is a nice touch. They are overpriced, no question about it, but they know that and make the experience worth it including a little gift bag (with something delicious and useful--not just branded nonsense). This place is just the right amount of bougie and casual. (Le Bernardin could learn a thing or ten from here!) Looking forward to the Spring menu.

I actually enjoyed the plant based menu way more than I thought I would. Probably the best plant based meal I have had. Service was great, as always. Ambiance was nice, but just like any other fine dining spots - nothing to write home about I guess. I had a nice time but the meal (with wine pairing) was a little more than what I would like to pay for. Worth trying though.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely amazing.
Who knew radishes can be so tasty! Mind blowing flavors and interesting natural ingredients that makes you appreciate the gifts of the earth. There a strong zen influence to the presentation and reminded me of the Kaiseki we had in Kyoto. But the focus on vegetarian ingredients and elevated natural flavors were truly unique. What a treat! Found out the menu changes every season. I heard my wallet sighed...

I visited Eleven Madison Park about a year ago for my birthday, and I was excited to try their new vegan menu. While the food was innovative and creative, the flavors didn't live up to my expectations, especially for the extremely high price. I will say that the service and showmanship was truly exceptional. The staff provided the best service I've ever had in a restaurant, and the menu provided unique experiences like making tofu at the table in front of you. But the flavors themselves were lacking. I recall loving a mushroom/truffle tart, but I thought everything else was just okay. I wish I could say otherwise, but I prefer the food at the $105pp vegan tasting menu at Miss Rachel's Pantry in Philadelphia, and the $43pp vegan tasting menu at Somebody People in Denver, even though the service doesn't even compare.
Be the first to ReplyHeard to be the best restaurant in the world.
What I can say is it is a very unique experience. We had the 8 course menu. I didn't find out that this place was vegetarian until about an hour before the reservation time bc a friend made the arrangement for us to celebrate her birthday. The food and service were phenomenal. We were invited into the kitchen which was really a treat. We laughed all night and really enjoy everything out before us including the very unexpected mock tail menu. We also received a bag of hits before we left. Not sure if that's something done for everyone. The check was about 850 for two then we tipped 20%.It was a beautiful time. If I had to think of any negatives I'll say the lighting could have been more decorative. It was super simple.
Be the first to ReplyExperience culinary perfection at Eleven Madison Park.
From the moment you step into the elegant dining room with the tall ceilings, to the last bite of dessert, every detail is carefully crafted to create a truly unforgettable meal. The only plant based menu with 3 Michelin stars, the menu is innovative and delicious. We started with a hot pot of sweet potato with lemongrass, followed by a celery root with rice porridge, 3rd course was white turnip and horseradish, followed by a tofu course, 5th course was squash with fried shiso pepper, then bok choy with white truffle and finally grilled celery root with juniper and pine. The palate cleanser was one of the best I've ever had, a grape sorbet and consommรฉ, the flavors were perfect and so balanced.Dessert was an apple with birch and cinnamon and ended with a pretzel with sesame and chocolate.EMP is not to be missed.

This was a huge part of our food tour in NYC along with Le Bernardin,Per Se, and River Cafe. For starters, I think it is way too trendy now in the culinary and art industry to write negative reviews. Plain and simple this is one of the greatest meals you will ever have. If you don't like it at all I would just assume you don't like vegetables. Forgive me but I can't remember our servers name but he was from North Carolina and he did a great job. I'm a huge Ravens fan and I went to the game earlier that day and they lost to the Giants. I won't lie I wasn't in the best mood after being up all day, fighting Jersey traffic for 2 hours to make this reservation, and just being tired overall. His service was outstanding though and I think he deserves a lot of credit for the success of the meal. My favorite course was probably the "fondue pots" if you would call them that. The chef definitely tells a story with each course and everything was very different. This is a very long meal even by fine dining standards but I doubt anything else in North America even compares. Lastly the bar deserves huge recognition here. My girlfriend did the juice pairing and I doubt anywhere in the city can offer as much variety. Alcohol wise the cocktails are gorgeous and a very ample selection to choose from.

.great food very unique taste Highly recommended..chef Daniel humm is amazing
Be the first to ReplyIs EMP good? Yes.
Is it worth its $400 price tag? Hmmm, not quite.Given a few of my teammates are vegetarian, we opted to go to EMP and try this 1-Michelin star plant-based restaurant. The theme of the menu this time is "Spring", a welcome departure from one of its previous themes, "Onions". My colleague who tried both said she much preferred this one!We start off with a white asparagus dish. Dandelion is served with fried asparagus and wrapped in a shiso leaf, with a Japanese tempura take. Asparagus dumplings accompanied - this was good and cozy, albeit a bit too salty.Next came a radish tostada dish with horseradish crema. It was a touch spicy but really flavourful and delicious! It came with some lettuce served with cypress tree seeds to mimic caviar. The vegan caviar stole the show! It was so unique and yummy. We then had vegan butter made of morel mushroom with garlic oil glaze, meant to accompany a laminated bread. I have no idea how they do it, but the bread was so soft and croissant like! I will never look down on vegan butter and bread again. My party enjoyed this so much that we asked for more (you can do that!).A spring pea salad with fava beans was served - this was just okay. A bit salty but nicely tangy. It came just before another pea dish, made of English and sweet peas, served warm with some rice from New Jersey amidst a flower broth. It had an interesting curry flavour to it, with some brightness added from the dill. The wild rice was at both times chewy and crispy. A large pot was brought to the table, and the servers showed us some fresh tofu made from soy milk (made 5 minutes before it was served). It was garnished with shaved artichoke, arugula bloom (the flowering part with peppery notes) and some spicyness from roasted artichoke with Calabrian chili. This was okay but nothing too memorable.Braised seitan with morel mushrooms and roasted spinach was served next with a salty, cornstarch-based glaze. I was instantly reminded of the cornstarch glaze used in Chinese vegetable dishes, but found it to be a touch on the salty side.White asparagus made a return in the last savoury dish. A large clay box came to the table, with smoke and steam wafting after opening. A smoked asparagus served with asparagus crema and topped with ginger powder was served. I didn't particularly enjoy this dish; it reminded me of Mexican tamales but I found it quite dry.A variety of desserts came next. Chamomile ice cream arrived first, in a rectangular block. Then came a strawberry in a syrup - my colleague was shocked at this and had to be reassured that it was merely a palette cleanser - followed by a more substantial pastry consisting of strawberry-cherry blossom mousse and rose ice cream. Finally, we ended the meal with a dark chocolate salted peanut butter pretzel served with sweet vermouth. Overall, was a theatrical meal but some dishes were misses. My favourites were the fake caviar, dumplings, and tostada.

As a place that has been hailed as the Mecca of dining and previously the best restaurant in the world, I was so disappointed by my experience here. Some of the courses were delicious but others way too salty. And the salt issue seemed to not be something specific for my own palate as evinced from other reviews. The white asparagus dish was served with soggy bread and questionable seasoning. Service was polite but the servers felt cold and aloof. They seemed to be machines carrying out mechanical tasks rather than passionate people always ready for a friendly chat as suggested by the "casual atmosphere" EMP is so desperately trying to promote. Overall the experience was decent but underwhelming and I will not be coming back again given how overpriced it is for this level of service.

Every course was very thoughtfully put together and delicious. We have decided to make it this an annual treat for ourselves.

I had wanted to try this restaurant for years, and I was in NYC last month, so I reserved a table for my brother and myself (you have to pay for the entire dinner upon reservation, and there are no refunds - not unusual for this tier of restaurant). Unfortunately after reserving the table, I saw online that they had recently converted to a vegan restaurant...that was definitely disappointing news, but I had already booked the table and I saw that the restaurant had still maintained its 3 Michelin stars after going vegan, so we decided to give it a try anyway. Even though I'm not vegan, I had an open mind going in. Unfortunately, each dish became more and more disappointing. I paid roughly $1,100 for 2 of us and we basically just got a bunch of pickled vegetables and some wine...there were a few courses that I couldn't even stomach. It was honestly the most disgusting dinner I've ever had in my life...we went to get some real food afterwards...yikes! Really not sure how this place still has 3 Michelin stars...or any for that matter...The service and presentation were up to par for that level of restaurant, but the food was absolutely terrible. The price is also completely unjustifiable for what you get. I heard a bunch of other people saying similar things about this restaurant after it went vegan. I'd be surprised if it's around much longer. It was really easy to get a table here, which should have been my first clue...
Be the first to ReplyI don't write many reviews but after eating at Eleven
I don't write many reviews but after eating at Eleven Madison last week and Dirt Candy last night, I felt a review might be helpful for someone in the future - go to Eleven Madison if you want to pay a lot for a fancy experience and mediocre food . As a vegetarian, I thought all the combinations of the summer menu dishes sounded fairly unique but in taste, most dishes were a 6 or 7/10. My boyfriend's and my favorite dish was one not even on the menu - the bread and sunflower butter. The bread was extremely flaky and soft and the sunflower butter was so creamy and great.. Way better than regular butter. The dessert was also very good along with the granola they send you home with... but in my opinion bread, butter, dessert and granola are not worth nearly $300 per personDirt Candy on the other hand was incredible through and through. It was 1/3-1/2 of the price and every dish was truly amazing and unique. The corn, the tomato, the eggplant, the off menu carrot tacos, everything. The service was also perfect but the restaurant overall had a more laid back, hip vibe than Eleven Madison. If you're deciding if Eleven Madison is worth it, I would strongly recommend Dirt Candy instead - cheaper, way better food and better atmosphere.
