Ever have that fear that you might choose one of these
Ever have that fear that you might choose one of these highly rated restaurants and it might be a flop? That fear of spending $600+ a person only to be disappointed. Well, this is one of those places.. my first time here it was great, the second time.... horrible!!! food over cooked and when I pointed out to the owner the dried out, burnt rabbit... she laughed and said they weren't serving rabbit that night..... thank god the waiter was there to confirm the fact that they were. I won't waste anymore time with this review..... just be warned...

I walked into this meal with an open mind after reading various mixed reviews, and feel compelled to write my own. For context, I've travelled globally for work for the last 30 years and like to think I have a balanced perspective of what is good and what is a value, premium or a luxury offering. So let's break it down Atmosphere - sterile and boring. Lighting it far too bright and chatter or opportunity to interact with other diners is very subdued. On a side note a we had a couple sitting next to us who were on 1st name basis with management. The wife chose to answer her loud ringing phone during dinner and engage in a loud conversation. I call this out as clearly the restaurant either has mixed standards for fine dining or money is a motivating factor. Service - I'd rate it as on par with a 2-3 star restaurant, this was the highlight. Food - this is where everything falls down. We selected the tasting menu and there was a single dish that we thought excellent, everything else was blah. Every dish lacked texture, making us wonder if the food was prepared for babies. I'd rate many Non Michelin and 1-2 star restaurants well above Enoteca for excellent/inspired food. How this place achieves 3 stars is beyond me. During our trip we experienced two examples that I'd rate well above. Wine Pairing - maybe there was a language barrier, we felt it lacked inspiration and no attempt was made to explain why they matched certain wines. On the plus side, they don't charge by the glass but instead by the number wines you select, and they proactively refill your glass. This element is pretty good value. Cost - we did not experience the upsell pressure others speak off, but for what we enjoyed...yeah I agree there is little justification for the price At the end of the day, I'd encourage readers of this review to skip and explore many other options for a great meal and experience.

The food, the service, the everything!
Be the first to ReplyAlmost left out of here in tears with how bad the evening
Almost left out of here in tears with how bad the evening was. It was supposed to be for a special occasion considering the expense. I was shocked after the first course this was 3 michelin stars! Food presentation was basic at best! The food; everything had major issues like too salty/ sweet/ acidic! Service should be near perfect and this was decent! I feel like when you leave a 3 star restaurant you should be absolutely blown away by everything. By the end of it i was pushing away dishes because of how gross the food was. I even refused the trolly of chocolates since I was so frustrated. I think the most disappointing was the fact that no one seemed to care. This place is an absolute disgrace! They seem like the type of place that would brush off the reviews because they think we dont get their food and no its because theres no talent! Theres a difference!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is purely insulting.
I'll concede that the Prosecco (25 addition) was playful and a nice start. It's all a train wreck from there. Let's start with the water list they provide like it's a service. The Panna Aqua (15, retail 1), which we ordered three of to stave off the salty/uninspired food, was hidden away and we had to ask for refills several times. Amazing service! Then there is the gimmick of a 'wine pairing'. This place boasts about its wine cellar but can't be bothered to pair wines to its tasting menus. Instead you get to 'choose your own adventure', which is really just a thinly disguised scam. We chose the upgraded Italian treasures (375pp for 3 wines that they clearly recycle to the entire room). They said "they choose the wines to fit your meal perfectly". Really? This joke of a restaurant thinks the wines pair perfectly with both the vegetarian and regular tasting menu. Insulting. They'll continue to try to upsell every dish like a tacky stall vendor. The food was not good. Everything tasted the same. No range, no creativity, no wine, no water for you!! Three Michelin stars is a pure hoax. I would have paid more (900pp) to have saved myself the sour experienced. Good riddance.

We recommend this place to anyone traveling to Florence and even would say to add Florence to your travel plans if you can get a reservation!

For some it is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and for others it was a treat. But for us it was perfection. Antonia knew the wines, and Juilio knew the menu and the service and together we had a night we would not forget. We did the tasting menu to experience Tuscany and its history with a blend of Asian influence. But the night was fully satisfying. I must say, to highlight the night and the service, Julio was fantastic. And from the stories of the people that worked there it could not be ignored that Mr. and Mrs. Pinchiorri were with us the whole night. Through their dedication and love of wine and food, the service was able to give us everything we wanted, and more. I want to give Julio a special thank you for bringing a fine dining experience to the table that involved attention and detail but also a human experience that with just food could get lost in the hard to pronounce/explain food and wine. But most importantly we learned from the staff that greatness comes from the ups and downs. Our life today fails to recognize the importance of hardship and hard days or hard discipline, but it is in the critical moments or work and life that we are able to be our best selves and enjoy the balance of life. To alllll the staff and to the dedicated owners of Enoteca Pinchiorri, Grazie Mille. And to Julio, may you never forget, NYC is great, but Boston is better and you will always be welcome if you wish to visit. Please reach out. Arrivederci and good luck.

Dress appropriately or you may have issues: you can read the website, but my take is sportcoat appreciated, long-sleeve (ideally with collar) shirt required. Service-wise we had a great experience, none of the issues that some have reported here. Ambiance-wise, it was great; what you'd expect at a three-star (i.e., lots of room and lots of staff). Food-wise, we particularly appreciated being able to order a la carte or the tasting menu, which is increasingly rare at two- and three-star restaurants. Food-wise we enjoyed: the mountain egg, the amberjack, the angolotti, the suckling pig, the pigeon/squab, the veal chop, the cheese cart, and we were so full we skipped any dessert. The amuses bouches and such were awesome as well. The wine list is insane. The water list was a first in my experience. We had a quick wine cave tour at the end conducted by the aimiable sommelier (Antonio) and it was great. Finally, it's not cheap, if you do a 50/50 spend ratio on wine/food you can quickly end up in the $750 range per person.
Be the first to ReplyFirst of all, make sure your man wear long sleeve shirt or
First of all, make sure your man wear long sleeve shirt or a jacket. I forgot about this rule and we almost got rejected at the door. The door man is a bit rude in my opinion because he basically said we can't eat here but eventually he offered us a suit jacket to wear. I just don't understand if there is a workaround why he would be so hard on us. Then the food. You can choose 290 tasting menu or individual course. The total price of appetizer and the primi and secondi (if you order all three) add up to 290 euro as well. So we decide on three courses because the tasting menu doesn't look as appealing as the individual course. Overall the food is amazing, except the veal which I personally thought is too rich and too big of portion for such rich flavor. Our favorites are the egg, agnolotti, ravioli, piglet and Soufflé. All of them have surprises in the texture of the ingredients or the balancing of the taste. Now I have to talk about the wine. They have a book of their wine list. Yes, a dictionary looking book. Until we noticed there is literally no bottle of reds under 250 or over 200 per person for wine tasting of two glasses, I started to realize we were actually eating in a three star restaurant. We end up ordering a 450 bottle and it is an amazing wine. It's just not our expectation to have wine price over the food. The restaurant makes the whole dining experience extraordinary. Wine, food, menu, plate, water all have their own dedicated waiter.
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite restaurant in Italy.
We were a bit nervous upon entering as it was our first 3 star Michelin restaurant - but my gosh - the service! We don't speak Italian - but the servers all speak decent English. They have a water menu - but... the wine menu... is a different story - I'm not kidding - their wine menu is a thick textbook size.. and after dinner - you can see why.The sommelier was kind enough to give us a wine tour afterwards - and it's an entire floor basement - they have wine dating back to 1896! They don't have a specific wine pairing menu that goes with the tasting menu - rather you choose a selection of 3 or 4 or 5 wines to go with your meal. We were quite overwhelmed with the textbook wine menu - so we just asked the somelier to choose for us and we went with the 3 wines - but he was kind enough to let us taste additional wines that other patrons were tasting that evening. While this is an Italian restaurant - there are definitely hints of Asian fusion , which I think shows additional creativity in the chef. The pappardelle had nori in it - giving it more of a seafood flavor. The piglet had pickled eel sauce and cooked in a way where it reminded me of a pork belly with a crispy skin. The cuddle fish with the fermented lemon and parmesan foam was so good! I even had my first taste of escargot - which actually wasn't too bad (chewy and salty) - to be honest i don't think i would eat it again, but as an experience- wasn't bad at all! I also had my first Baba which was a mix of savory and sweet! so good! We then had some cheese to taste served with honey, (highly recommend the blue cheese with sherry). Palate cleansers were refreshing - and in the end it was a multiple dessert experience with lemon tartlet followed by selection of chocolate, berry foccacia, and then a bar of chocolate to go home with! We didn't realize how quickly the time went by and it was already 11 PM by the time we left. Service was fantastic and our sommelier was awesome!!! Always checked up on us - talked us a lot - i can see why people like the Obamas, Tom Cruise come here! - we left with huge smiles on our faces - not caring how late it was as we just had the most amazing food experience in our first few days in ItalyIf you guys are ever in Florence and have money to spare - a must visit. We visited three Michelin restaurants during out v isit to Italy - and this was the best! If I ever am back in Florence - I'm going to come back!

We ate here in July 2022 and were celebrating our engagement, which I put on our reservation. Food was decent from the tasting menu. The cuddle fish stood out as our favorite. Wine list was ridiculous. Couldn't find a glass of wine under €70. (I don't drink much so the tasting would've had me on the floor.) At the end of the night, they brought out a cake acknowledging our engagement from the reservation. Then they charged us €50 for the cake that we didn't order on top of our €1200 bill! A nice one time restaurant, but not good enough to go back again. In a city like Florence where a bad meal is hard to find, my recommendation would be to find a local restaurant with great house wine for a fraction of the price.

I made a reservation here, received a confirmation that didn't include a calendar link, then received no reminder emails whatsoever. I received a call 35 minutes after our scheduled reservation time asking where we were and reminding us of the $500 cancelation fee. I felt really stupid having to close out a tab for uneaten food elsewhere and then running a mile across town; though I did arrive and salvage the night. Some of the onus is on me, but this should NEVER happen when you need to book reservations so far in advance.I'm on a food binge and have probably "collected" 18 Michelin stars over the last month. This was the least memorable restaurant especially relative to the price tag and superlative Michelin rating. This seems to be an overwhelmingly wine-centric restaurant with a comically large list served in a leather-bound tome. We did order one of the wine pairings at a price that I found astronomical for wines local to Italy. The somm, though affable, was nowhere near the level of expressiveness that I recently experienced at Ever or Oriole in Chicago or Il Pagliaccio in Rome. The food was very good with some Italian influence, however very abstract and difficult to explain or remember. I suspect that I would have had a better experience if I ordered a la carte. The table next to us brought a small baby; this should never be allowed.Still a worthy restaurant if you have an unlimited budget, but for me this was a lesson in that hunting the absolute-highest-rated restaurant in an area is usually suboptimal. We were much more impressed by Santa Elisabetta and Borgo San Jacopo.

Wow... I don't have words to describe this experience. To celebrate my wife's birthday I successfully booked a reservation at Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence, Italy. This restaurant has been a 3 star Michelin restaurant since 1993 and is owned by Giorgio Pinchiorri and Annie Féolde who have had their restaurant voted one of the top 32 restaurants in the world and recipient of the Wine Spectator Grand Award. The wine cellar is literally one of the largest in the world and you are given a list bigger than the bible (in addition to the 'water menu'). I have been lucky to dine at some of the best restaurants, and this experience is one of the most memorable. On entry into the restaurant you are greeted by a parade of servers and workers of the restaurant who will wait on you hand and foot for the rest of the evening. To start, you are given a water menu to choose what country and type of water you would like - note, most countries have many to choose from. You then are given a wine list longer than the encyclopedia. I highly recommend working with the sommelier to at least filter down to a handful of options based on your preferences and price range. Then the courses start rolling out. When we were there this included:Cuttlefish tripe with 24 months Parmigiano Reggiano milk and fermented lemonRoasted and unboiled escarole and mascarpone ravioli, mullet bottarga and herring mousseCelline almond and olive soup, aubergines with bergamot and lobster with juniperPappardelle sea, mountains and hillsGreen vineyard snails, snow peas and slightly spicy avocado salad and coconut sauceSpit-roasted Mora Romagnola pig, pickled eel cream and purple cabbage leaf with pepperBread and gravyRaspberry and roseLemon TartChocolate Truffle CartThe evening blew my mind from flavors to the level of service. It is one for the books!
Be the first to ReplyTerrible experience.
Waste of 1000 euros. We live in NYC and been to some of NYC's best restaurants and paid less for their tasting menu. If you go, do not get the wine pairing! It's a waste. €200 per person for three pairings that are unlimited, but they only give you a splash of wine each time leaving you waiting for more wine each time. Barely had three full glasses of wine with our meal for that price. We could have definitely ordered two full bottles of wine for less and had more. They were tasty, but not worth the price. Now service. They tried to be on top of it, and they are all super nice, but compared to Daniel in NYC, the experience is lacking, and you pay less! Like I said before. We were left numerous times without anything to drink. They served the entree without the final red wine pairing! With service my husband got up and asked where the bathrooms were and the waiter responded, your next courses is on its way. And my husband said okay, I didn't ask for that I asked where the bathroom was, and he was like oh, okay. And then had someone else's reluctantly show him! We paid enough money to accommodate us to use the restroom without worrying about or next course. The food. Some of it was inventive and tasty, but overall it's nothing special and not deserving of the price. Please, save your money and go else where. The bathrooms. No soap... Literally the two private restrooms have a sink and cloth towels but no soap, not even a place for soap... Need I say more? Michelin please knock off their rating! It doesn't deserve this! We wasted our money!
Be the first to ReplyVery very disappointed.
The food and the place it self. Nothing outstanding. The food was just average. No sophistication, no premium ingredients. You can find this type of food in many places in town. Is the 3 stars attributed because of the wine list?? Certainly not because of the food. I must acknowledge the chicken was very tender. But it is only chicken and it is priced €110 the dish! Also be ready, most of the wines are above €200-250 the bottle.

This is the only 3 Michelin star restaurant in Florence, consider myself a "foodie ", I had to try this place. We had tasting menu called contemporary which is more details than discovery. At first, it was surprising to see "water" menu. Then couple of a small appetizers before the menu start. The first pic which was crispy fish ball with crust infused with squid ink was my favorite. Then my favorite of all dish came. Red prawn, cod mousse. I never had anything like this, it seems almost raw but tasty. My BF asked bean salad instead and he was leaking the plate. Then ravioli with escarole. It was ok. Peppered pork cheek Creme caramel, caviar, peaty broth and fried bread was my least favorite. Steamed and fried scorpionfish was unique and my BF got John Dory which was excellent. Main meat was lamb. I generally don't like lamb and almost ask for substitute but I'm glad I didn't. It was amazing. Then dessert was light and fruity and chocolate selections were very nice. Staffs wear N 95 masks, service was on point and timely. Accommodate my BF's request was very thoughtful. It really lives up to their three star reputation.

When you go to a 3-star Michelin restaurant, it better be perfect. I've been to dozens of wonderful restaurants around the world, including other Michelin starred restaurants. This restaurant is overrated, but I suppose it's supposed to be okay because they have 15,000 bottles of wine. The main meat course was well cooked but the rest of the meal was mediocre and uncreative. It's the first time I've left a 3-star Michelin restaurant completely underwhelmed. But apparently that's okay because you're supposed to overlook it since they have 15,000 bottles of wine.

Do you know the owners? If so this will probably be a great night. If not don't bother. The wine list is supposed to be legendary. It's not. They do not post it online and serve it to you in a book that looks like something that will take days to read. The trick is the large spacing, thick paper, and peculiar layout. It has a pretty good first growth Boudreaux and trophy wine Burgundy section. It is a lazy list with very few things that you could not get at any top steakhouse with a big book. The staff is more of a mixed bag. On the weight side they are friendly and attentive. The somm and bar staff reflect the list. They are pretentious yet unsophisticated. This is not a place for wine lovers but more of a place to check off the list in an unsatisfied way.Strongly do not recommend.

This place is worth the visit 3 Michelin stars is definitely worthy from the service to the attentive staff and the food. The seating is in the courtyard of a hotel so it is quite interesting. The food was amazing, albeit it was our first night and we were super jetlagged we powered thru to enjoy the meal. We had the tasting menu and added the 4 additional courses bringing it to 7 courses but we really didn't think it thru as there were so many extras that we didn't count on, it seemed more like 15 course meal. The pasta was the best I've ever had, I don't think I can eat pasta back in the states anymore after having true Italian pasta In Florence

If you have the money and time, this was one of the greatest meals of my life!We did the discovery tasting menu and it was simply incredible. I would recommend if you are going to a Michelin Star restaurant, you probably should do the tasting. Anything else is likely not worth the money and you miss out on amazing experience.I won't go into specifics, but the food was to die for. It was so delicious, so creative, and truly paid homage to Italian culture and tradition. Each course was a dream, I can genuinely say I liked everything I ate - at other tasting menus in my life some of the items can be hit or miss. Not here!It is expensive, and it is an experience. This is a place with a full "water" menu, so if you want to go big this is your spot. Our dinner was 4.5 hours, but when you are with loved ones, eating delicious food, and being treated like royalty - the time flies by! I will remember the night for my whole life.Unlike some other Michelin Star restaurants, the staff still had personality and genuinely hospitable (not the uppity cold kind - often how it is in France - but the one that made you feel welcomed in a warm and friendly way) Our Sommelier was the funniest and kindest guy as well. Also that wine list - wowza! If you are looking to hit a 3 star Michelin restaurant, I would without a doubt pick here. Wish I could give of 10/5 but I'll keep it basic:Food: 5/5Service: 5/5Drinks: 5/5Wine: 5/5

Sometimes in life you have the opportunity to experience something that stays with you a life time. My wife and I were traveling with our friends to Italy and when we got to Florence we tried to get a reservation at Enoteca Pinchiorri but were told none were available. We tried several times a day and finally we got a call telling us they got a cancellation for that nite at 7:30. We arrived on time and was greeted by none other than Mrs Pinchiorri. She greeted us and showed us to our table among the bougainvillea. It was magical setting. The waiter came to the table and explained the menu. Then the wine steward came over and started pairing the wines with each course-and the wine served was heavenly. I think there was 8 courses but who was counting. To describe each would take pages to list. The memories have lasted years and whenever we can we try to tell friends visiting Florence they must try and get a reservation so they have the opportunity to have the experience they will never forget. In fact our grand niece and her husband are leaving for Italy tomorrow and I sent them the website and instructions to try. They just got married a few months ago. Enoteca Pinchiorri is elegant and memorable that you will have cherished memories.Irwin ZLos Angeles Ca
Be the first to ReplyI wanted to try one of the best Michelin 3 star restaurants
I wanted to try one of the best Michelin 3 star restaurants in the world, also known for having the best wine cellar in Italy (and one of the 10 best in the world.). I got the 7 course tasting meal which was excellent. However the two different glasses of red wine were outrageously good. It makes me think I have been drinking swill until now. Also had a sampling of some of the best regional cheeses (for 40 Euro upcharge. Service was outstanding with more waiters than patrons. It was a memorable experience. However, it was 435 euros for one person - gag! Recommended if you have the money.

Love this place! The tasting menu is the way to go with 8+ small plates. It's small serving but at the last plate, you feel full and very much satisfied with a nice chocolate finish. I'm a pescatarian and the menu includes some meat dishes. The restaurant replaced the meat dishes with fish dishes (cod and red mullet). There is a definite build up from one dish to the next with mini little surprise dishes in between. That said, this place is definitely pricey... they even have a book of water from around the world that is at 10 euros per bottle. The price is worth the food and the phenomenal service this place provides. Reservations needed, we were able to get a reservation for the same day we got to Florence but it was for 7:30pm which is the time they open the place. No other time slot. Make a reservation in advance is my recommendation.
Be the first to ReplyThere's something to be said about a restaurant that uses
There's something to be said about a restaurant that uses 90s word-art to design their wine list. For a restaurant with 3-Michelin Stars, I wont deny that there is a certain level of expectation of service, food, ambiance and more due to the awarding of these stars that is hard to look past. Sometimes restaurants have that burden - they are to live up to other 3 star restaurants their patrons have visited before. However, it'd be rude to compare this to something like a Il Fornaio, as that is not their "angle", what they are trying to achieve. At this point, I rate most 3-Stars in their own category of 3-Star and compared to Yelps "$$$$". Enoteca Pinchiorri did not meat either of those standards. They did not fail, but they definitely did not succeed. The interior design and lighting of the venue is so harsh, 90s styled and off putting. It was an odd thing to be uncomfortable by the lights, but the lighting at the tables achieved this. The wine menus had hilariously out of place 90s word-art to describe the wines they were presenting. It seemed very low effort and comically out of place. They had a water menu to try various waters from all of the world... but 10 euros for cold still water? What? That's just opulence to say you paid for water. Many other restaurants in this category does not charge and it made it feel like they were nickling and diming you. Furthemore, their Somme tried to push very high end wines that we many times said no thanks too (like other reviews below), again adding to the weirdness of it all.Enoteca was clean, but boring. Waiters were nice, but lackluster and offputting. Service was there, but not compared to other 3 stars. It was very bland overall. The two stars I gave this review was purely for the food. Delicious but again, "ive experienced better." Especially for the cost. Which is ridiculous.
