well, the food and service were flawless.
home made gluten free pasta was amazing, all tapas style appetizers had fabulous texture, flavors, and the presentation was spot on. We had a great time.

It's a nice vibe inside but don't think it's worth the money

I feel like this becoming my thing: Bar staff that is distant, cold and unattentive. Once again, this was my experience this past week at Faccia a Faccia. Sat at the bar and finally the bartender comes by and does us a favor by taking our order. No smile, no pleasantries, but had plenty of time for his cell phone. I'm in the minority about the food and ambiance at this place. Most others I know really like it, but I find it overpriced and just fair. The lousy service the other night was my last attemtpt.

Highly recommend coming here! The food and vibes are amazing!! My girlfriend and I had the duck breast with foie gras and it was absolutely to die for! Very hip spot and very good cocktails as well! Definitely check it!!

Found the atmosphere a bit stuffy and the food slightly above average, if not overpriced. Would not have reviewed this place, except to relay this odd tale. Upon ordering a martini with extra olives, my wife was told that they instituted a 3-olive limit. That's a new one for me. Either there is a shortage of olives (and we should all stock up) or they must have encountered some extreme olive-hoarders. Never really got an explanation, but I'm curious.

most AMAZING meal i have had in a while - the food was all so delicious, everything was able to be curated gluten free to accommodate to a table allergy and the service was fantastic! will definitely be back!

We have basically become regulars here! As a gluten-free gal, I love going to places that are very accommodating to dietary restrictions, Faccia a Faccia never disappoints! We had Lisa as our server and she was amazing!!! 10 out of 10 recommend if you're in the area for those with dietary restrictions, and those without!

Warm service. Killer vibes. Tre nice. I love walking down Newbury St and sitting at the bar.

I like the spacious environment and it seemed like a great place for catching up with friends. I honestly was not impressed with the food. Nothing tasted off by any means, I just didn't really enjoy the flavor profile of the food we ordered. We also ordered the steak and potatoes which I forgot to grab a picture of. I did think the potatoes were yummy. The service was great, friendly and attentive. I am open to coming back and trying other items on the menu simply because of the good vibes and service.
Be the first to ReplyI'm probably being a little harsh because I was so excited
I'm probably being a little harsh because I was so excited to try faccia a faccia. Everything was decent but wow is it overpriced. I'm happy to splurge for a great meal but this just wasn't worth it for the price. Try Coppa or Select Oyster Bar instead. The hamachi crudo was actually very good; the best thing I tried. The scallop crudo was just ok. Nothing unique about the flavors to keep me engaged for a small dish. Drinks were nice and strong so decent value there. If you get the market salad, which was good but too creamy, make sure you specify how many people. Only one person wanted it but they assumed for the table so we got charged per person which ended up being really expensive for a salad that didn't even get finished. The burrata was average; I've had a lot better for cheaper. Service was fine. They checked in a lot but had so many runners that they got a little confused about what we ordered. Definitely skip the cappuccino. For $7 it wasn't even hot. Decor was nice but we had the tiniest high top even though I reserved well in advance. When a place specializes in small plates it's annoying to have a table that doesn't even fit four plates. They kept trying to take dishes we weren't finished with because there wasn't room to put anything.

I got to make my own mezcal cocktails which was super fun!

We had a reservation for my birthday (my first birthday alone since my twin sister passed away) with the rest of my family. We were seated an hour and a half after our reservation. The receptionist was talking about our party as we grew impatient. Most of the people we interacted with were rude as well. One of the guys also rolled his eyes at my brother when he asked him a question. It was weird. When we walked in they told us to go downstairs to the bar to wait. When we got there the guy at the bar said "woah woah woah I don't have room for you" and I said "oh they told us to come down here?" And he said "well they can't see through the floor to see that the bar is full". That was what I remember from this place and I have heard multiple people share similar experiences.
Be the first to ReplyLovely ambiance, casual but still upscale.
Excellent cocktails. Pasta was quality but not so so much better than what you can find elsewhere, so the high price point felt unjustified. Bartenders were friendly and fast, food took a while. Would highly recommend for some cocktails, but I have reservations on recommending as a dinner spot.

This place is phenomenal. It's small plates of Italian with a hint of local flare. EVERYTHING we ate was good. Literally. Only thing to keep in mind is that all items come out at there own pace. There is no rhyme or reason, or order. My favorite was the chicken milanese with the topping of cheese and freshly shaved truffles. OMG!!!+

I'm going to be totally transparent - when I went to Boston I didn't expect to be going to this restaurant. I had reservations at the little donkey (their sister restaurant) but they had to close that night due to a pipe burst. I was totally panicked seeing as it was 5pm on Saturday night and I couldn't figure out where we should go. I called here expecting them to say they were totally booked because that's what it showed online but they said they could get us in. We were thrilled! We ordered the tuna tartare and the beef tartare for apps and they were both tasty. I liked the beef better while my boyfriend liked the tuna. I sadly forgot to take pics of our pastas but I ordered squid ink trottole and orecchiette baresi. They say everything is meant to share but my boyfriend and I couldn't agree on things so we got our own dishes and tried a few bites of each other. Both very delicious! I loved the uni in the squid ink pasta it added the best taste and texture. The portions overall were small. We were still full-ish from lunch so it was ok but if you went in starving you would probably have to order another app or small plate which is tough seeing as was pretty expensive. But that's newbury st for you! I can't really complain about that.. I will say the dessert was probably the best dessert I have had in a while. We ordered the baked sorrentina and omg. So so good. It was perfectly balanced - sweet, sour, crunchy, soft. I will crave it forever! We enjoyed the drinks too we had to get a few of course. Still appreciative they got us in so short noticed. Thanks again!

My son and I decided to try this restaurant based on a recommendation from a professor. Full disclosure, she wanted to try it but had not yet.The restaurant ambiance is beautiful. The service was good however, not unique in any way.My biggest issue with the restaurant is the cost of the food for the quality. Looking at their menu you see uninspired items with unusually high prices. We ordered the mozzarella sticks with caviar on top (I can't even write that with a straight face) to demonstrate this: they were predictably boring and unremarkable. Small plates are priced like simple entrees and entrees are priced $10 too high. Their wines are cheap and overpriced (I found them online to verify their poor taste). My son and I have been trying a number of the restaurants in the Boston/Cambridge area. This restaurant's dishes was a lot pricer than many of the restaurants we have gone to but, not at all unique to justify the each dishes' price tag. I think typical of almost all Newbury Street restaurants except the pre-existing Tapeo which itself was not of the caliber of the original sister Dali (still in operation to my knowledge and I have every intention of re-visiting), it is overpriced and overrated. I plan to avoid restaurants at this location from here on out unless shopping here and starving.

Truly great food - since the first time I went a few months ago, I've been back 4-5 times. Everything is sooo good - definitely my new favorite restaurant in Boston proper!
Be the first to ReplyWent with my parents and sister for her birthday.
My thoughts are:Vibe: On a Saturday night, there was Drake blasting all dinner. I loved it, and it isn't that my parents minded, but maybe not the ideal setting for a family dinner. I would definitely enjoy this with girl friends, but less so with my family.Service: The staff was knowledgeable, but our waitress came across as condescending when showing her knowledge of the menu items and beverages. It is a somewhat eclectic menu, so questions are normal, and she was somewhat snooty in the way she answered questions.Attentiveness: I called earlier in the day to let the staff know it was my sister's birthday, and they said they would add a note to the reservation. They never acknowledged it throughout the meal, or comped something small on a big bill. I couldn't go up to the staff because my sister would have stopped me. Not a huge deal, but little things like this make a difference in experience.

Worth sharing again. This restaurant was a massive disappointment. As former Bostonians visiting the city this week, we looked forward to dining at Ken Oringer's newest venture. We reserved a table at Faccia on October 1st as soon as their calendar allowed Our party included another couple to whom we touted the highly acclaimed chef.We arrived early in order to check out Bar Pallino but were seated in the restaurant right away. As we entered upstairs, we noticed that in contrast to the many enjoying drinks below, there were empty tables. The area where we were located was dimly lit and the four of us struggled to read the single drink menu left at our table. Within literally a couple of minutes after being seated and offered water, our server appeared to take our wine order. Clearly we were still deciding and enjoying a bit of conversation with our friends. She indicated giving us more time. Within a minute or two she again returned to the table to inquire about our choices. This went on as she continued to boomerang back to us, giving us a just couple of minutes between each of her inquiries. She served the bottle of wine we ordered and as we were taking our initial tastes, she almost immediately began asking for our small plate choices. Once again we struggled to make out the lightly printed menus. Our small plates arrived and before we were even finished sharing, others appeared at our table asking if we were done and quickly removing dishes. At this point, it became obvious that we were being rushed. The bar area had filled up but we still noticed empty tables. We each ordered a different pasta and were told they would be brought out as ready. Due to individual preferences, we let our server know that we would not be sharing them. Given the many choices we each selected our own plate. Regardless the pasta dishes were served one at a time, and we each dined one at a time. The server then asked if we wanted another course and we indicated needing to look at the menu. She never inquired again, nor offered any more wine. Her next question was about dessert. As we glanced at the offerings, I think we collectively felt that our time was up and just asked for the check. Somehow our table then became illuminated from behind. When the light flashed I mused to myself that we were being given a signal.Given the time allowed we did enjoy the food. We did not appreciate the feeling of being hurried through our dinner. I would not recommend the experience to others.

A celiac heaven! They have a lot of gluten free options that are deemed to be celiac safe which is wonderful for my husband! They are super aware of cross contamination and my husband did not experience any symptoms after we dined here!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful atmosphere and friendly staff.
The food was beautifully presently and delicious. My reason for giving 3 stars is because the portions are incredibly small for what you pay for. Our server mentioned we should order multiple small plates per person to share as a tapas style however the plates range from ~$20 each and can only be shared with 2-3 people max. I would not recommend coming with large groups unless you plan on spending $80pp on food alone. I also ordered a cocktail that had a huge block of ice in it which made the illusion that the drink was more full.
