Fischer's London Reviews from The Last Year
For something a bit different in London…
This stylish little Austrian restaurant tucked away in a nice part of London is well worth a visit. The food is authentic and the portion plentiful. I’ve had both breakfast and dinner here and have really enjoyed it on both occasions. The decor feels like 19th century Viennese style with dark oak and brass pannelling. Staff are friendly and attentive and happy to help (they stored my bag and charged my phone). I recommend the muesli for breakfast with any of their coffees (I’ve tried them all and they were excellent) and the Wiener Schnitzel with Holstein for dinner. Highly remember for something a bit different in London. Recommend making a reservation in advance.
Very disappointing service
We have been here before several times with a great experience. This time the service was awful. Forty five minutes for a drink, two and a half hours to get to a second course. The attitude of the serving staff was truly terrible and the food often lukewarm. We will not be going here again.
LIked this place a lot.
I'd call it a German brasserie, even though that's mixing countries. Definitely brasserie feel, dark, formal-ish, brass bars, kinda crowded tables. Vibrant to the point of loud. Very good food -- we had chicken liver pate, schnitzel, sausages, beet salad, streudel, and such. All was solid. Great service. Seems to be a locals joint, not a lot of obvious tourists about. A lot of loud businessmen and old friends kinda place. I'd come again any day -- and will.

One of our favorite breakfast places! Viennese options and excellent coffee. Reservations recommended.
Good restaurant in great location
We went to Fischers after a friend recommendation.Great restaurant in Mayfair are in London, cozy decoration. Full support and awareness about allergies, very appreciated. Very good and relaxing atmosfere.
Delicious Wiener Schnitzel
Delightful restaurant with old world Viennese atmosphere - good service, delicious Wiener Schnitzel - order small as very generous portions.
Slightly disappointed!
I’ve visited Fischers many times in recent years and always thought it a reliable restaurant. Not cheap but fairly good value with reasonable service. However, having visited midweek in March with friends I was incredibly disappointed. Luckily it was my food which was disappointing (as I was hosting) but neither did I want to make a fuss. The issue was with the Sea Bass-described on the menu as served with Lyonnaise potatoes. I’m sorry but it was served with potato crisps. Ready salted supermarket crisps. The waitress assured me they were Lyonnaise potatoes and I didn’t argue as I was with guests. Luckily their dishes were fine but there was much laughter round the table as I shared the crisps!
Rotten apple in the barrel
The beautiful decor and authentic food did not make up for the rude behaviour of our waitress (a middle age lady who clearly thought my family did not deserve attentive and respectful service). When ordering I do not appreciate being barked at in front of my family. It may annoy your waitress to have to point out that there are a choice of sides with a particular menu item. Barking “with?” “WITH??” is never appropriate. That encounter set the tone for the evening. Minimal engagement. No eye contact. Very little attention to our needs. Left feeling miserable and disappointed.
Gone downhill
I have been coming to this restaurant for many years. Since COVID the prices have risen and the service has gone down. Today, it was busy with insufficient staff, the quality of the food not as it used to be , unfortunately I will not be rushing back
Cover charge, really?!
I do like Fishers, been many times with my partner, with friends, family etc. The food is reliable and service is good. Even on the busiest nights they manage to handle a full setting in good time. Tonight was no exception, the bar man made great drinks while we waited, the Maitre D' was good, our waitress was on point and the food was cooked to what you'd expect. Once the bill came we discovered the cover charge, a measly £1.75 per person. I want to hope they're trying to evoke a continental Europe feel with this but we're in London. If I'm paying £150+ for dinner and drinks in less than 2 hours I shouldn't have to pay this? If you're struggling with overhead remove the bread? I love it and I am happy to order it for a fee. Either I've never noticed the cover charge or it's new but we can't let this become the norm in London. I'm glad they no longer serve the abomination they called Kaisershmarn.
What a Pity!
This was my first visit with a friend for lunch on their recommendation . I must say that the staff were extremely friendly. The food was delicious. Unfortunately, there is a ‘however’ service was exceptionally slow . We asked to see the desert menu and after a very, very long wait we were presented with the bill. We again asked for the desert menu. This was done in good humour . After another considerable wait our coffee arrived. We really did not mind the wait but I take exception that we were, be it politely, asked to vacate the table. When we mentioned, yet again politely, the slowness of service there was no response - this was ignored . We felt that we could not finish our coffee as we were being made to feel most uncomfortable The table was being relaid whilst we were gathering our belongings. I did consider going back with my husband and friends but that is now very doubtful.
Couldn’t have been better.
I visited with my daughter Maria. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. Our waiter was Vad. A wonderful waiter who couldn’t be more helpful. The Rosti with black pudding was delicious as was the Schnitzel. The whole experience was faultless.
Perpetuating a woeful experience…
I thought I should write a follow-up as my previous review of Fischers was responded to by the restaurants’ management offering an email address to discuss my feedback in more detail. Despite several follow-ups nothing has been heard back which while not surprising, after our experience, is still disappointing. I’m conscious that when I see reviews where management respond it sets the perception in readers minds that resolution has occurred. In this case I’ve just been ignored which shows the contempt they hold for clients and reflects our experience on the night.
A lovely evening! Warm attentive staff.
This was my first visit to Fischer’s but I have eaten at other restaurants in The Wolsey Group. This being an Austrian restaurant means the menu is different from the other venues but still has my favourite soufflé! More of that later… My sister & I had such a warm welcome from who I assume was the maitre d when we arrived and although we were a little early our table was ready in minutes. A corner table too which was so nice. Another lovely welcome from the man who took us to our table. Although I knew I was going to order the soufflé, the menu was interesting & varied. My sister had the chicken schnitzel, spätzle & pickled cucumber which she said were delicious & a generous portion. I had the soufflé & some chips. I can honestly say this was the best cheese soufflé I have had in a very long time. I actually had a chat about this with the maitre d before we left so she could pass on my compliments to to the chef. The chips were also perfect. Service was exemplary. I will definitely be returning.

The restaurant was undeniably beautiful and clubby but we were given a tiny table squeezed in between large loud parties and it took 30 minutes to get an initial glass of wine. My husband loved his Schnitzel and Spaetzle. Since I don't eat much meat, I had Kaese Spaetzle and cucumber salad which were fine if nothing to write home about. It was clear that "regulars" received more spacious seating and more attentive service. Given how slow the service was (to order, to get served, to get the check), I wouldn't go back.
Great food.
Borsht is just a tomato soup, not really borsrht. Bismark herring was excellent, so was chopped liver. Wiener Schnitzel was excellent top of the class. I do not think they will get a Michelin star any time soon, as their servers and staff especially in the front of the restaurant need much more training. But the food was great nevertheless.
Very good all around.
The interior is well-maintained old world metro, the service is on-point, and the food is very tasty. All signs are good from the moment you walk into Fischer's. The atmosphere is really delightfully a throwback without being quaint or kitsch; you'll feel immediately at ease when you get seated. And, from start to finish the service here is pleasant, attentive, and on top of making sure you are having a plesant experience. The food is likely what you expect but just a little bit better all around. We started with the käsespätzle and bacon which was a bit more subtle than you would imagine - for Americans, this is basically an older origin of Mac n' Cheese so many of you would be well-off ordering this. We also tried a couple of the sausages which were hearty, smokey and very filling. Also on the menu was the Chicken Schnitzel which combined with the sauce and the provided pickles tasted like a really delicious fried chicken sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised by Fischer's. Definitely recommend it if you're spending some time in Marylebone.
Very good German food.
Excellent location, service and decor. Especially recommend the chicken liver appetizer and apple strudel desert. Schnitzel was too dry even with the gravy and the bratwurst just OK.
Went to this place for brunch and it was a perfect brunch
Went to this place for brunch and it was a perfect brunch spot. Very retro interior which has cool vibes and fits with the upscale ambience of Marylebone. Very good coffee. I had the equivalent of a hash and also ordered sourdough toast and it was delicious. Definitely would recommend for a good brunch spot in Marylebone on the higher end side of things.
Very classy dining restaurant.
Seafood is great. Be sure to ask for recommendations, staff is very knowledgeable and attentive.

The name of the reservation should be on the listing that was transferred to your account when you purchased the reservation.
