Staff donโt like customers
Staff donโt communicate or smile. Quite frankly canโt be bothered. Toilets donโt flush. This business only survives because of the view. They should stop treating guests as an inconvenience.

Be the first to ReplyLovely place to lunch
Great place to eat or drink. Very popular and busy. Beautiful views. Amazing food and drink. Had to wait for a table but it was worth the wait. Lots of amazing food to choose from. We had the pizza/bruschetta and chicken/bacon sandwich. Huge portions stacked with crisps. Left to eat and drink in peace. Didnโt feel rushed to vacate the table. A very popular place but worth the wait.
Be the first to ReplyPrivileged place in Mdina
To be in a privileged place in Mdina it is not expensive at all and the pizzas are delicious! We were a family of 5 and we ate very well! The delicious pizzas!

A lovely little cafe up on the city walls. Perfect for a slice of cake and coffee! But equally good for something more substantial like a pie. We were fortunate to sit outdoors on a pleasantly warm March afternoon and be treated by wonderful views. Not a five star review because like many places in Malta the toilets could do with clean and refill of the basicsโฆ
Be the first to ReplyVery busy, but the cake and view are worth the hype
OK, so when we arrived to find a queue at the door, I was a bit worried this place was overhyped. However, after only about a 10-15 minute wait, we were shown to a table upstairs on the balcony. And I can say it was worth it for the delicious cake and view. It didn't feel as crowded once we were seated and our food did not take long despite how busy it was. We went at just after noon, so maybe going before lunch rush hour or later in the day will be less busy.
Be the first to ReplyStunning views and tasty cakes
During our visit to Mdina we were recommended to try the cakes at this place. It was very busy and we had to queue. However, the staff were very attentive and efficient, and before long, we had a table outside. The views over the island are spectacular. We ordered cakes which were delivered to our table quickly. I had the apple cake and my wife the orange and almond. Both of us really enjoyed the cakes. The portion size was generous, and I felt reasonably priced for the location.

We went here because people told us itโs a must and has great cakes.
So, we waited 15mins for a table and thought to ordered something light first, so went for bruschetta.
The bruschetta was served before the drinks - not even water. The guy who gave us cutlery had dirty hands, and as such, the cutlery and napkins were already dirty, covered with some sauce fingerprints. I also saw a waiter wiping their nose with their hands and then serving plates. Not very hygienic, and that after 2 years pandemic.
Bruschetta is supposed to be simple and brilliant as long as you use good ingredients. Here, you taste nothing but onion and garlic, and I felt like I ate shoarma afterwards.
Since we had come for the cakes, I still wanted to try them. We had to wait very long to get someoneโs attention, who cleared the table and disappeared before we could order cakes. As we then heard some complaints about the dryness of the cakes, we decided to call it quits, paid and left.
Having a nice view is not an excuse for poor hygiene and service. I donโt see how this place gets such good ratings.
Dinner not served in terrace
I really like the place and is a location I opt for both for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. However we went for dinner yesterday and were told by the waitress that food is not served upstairs in the terrace. Usually I always dine in the terrace. We had to go look for another restaurant.

We stopped here, to have a break while visiting Mdina. This place is very touristy, so the turn-over and the noise level are quite high, but that's the price you pay for a good cake (great variety) and a coffe with a great view from the ancient walls. Plus point: the cream on the coffee was a real deal, not that cheap spray can thing :-). All in all a nice location with a good variety of drinks and meals, but a very busy one.
Be the first to ReplyGluten-free cake!
Another trip to this delightful tea room didnโt disappoint. We got seated upstairs quite quickly and had a lovely spot in the shade. Since our last visit Iโve been diagnosed with coeliac disease so I was very pleased to see they did gluten free options. I ordered a toasted baguette with their classic chicken & smoked ham filling but had it with salad as they couldnโt tell me if the crisps were gluten free. I was surprised when two baguettes arrived but they were both delicious! My friend had the lasagna and says it was very nice although he says he had food envy when mine arrived lol. There are lots of cakes on their menu but only two were gluten free. I chose the orange & almond cake and it was delicious. My friend chose to have a slice of Cassatella which was a sweet ricotta filled sponge covered in marzipan. Iโd definitely recommend a visit if you get the chance as the views alone are worth it.
