This place is like an attraction with things to buy.
Extremely elegant. The service is very good and friendly. They have several restaurants and a formal afternoon tea that require a well in advance reservation. However, the Parlour is more casual and easier to get in if you want tea and scones. We ordered Homemade Duo of Scones with Strawberry Preserve and Clotted Cream 4.5/5, dark hot cocoa 5/5, black tea 5/5, latte 5/5, and iced latte 4/5.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible place for tea.
Poor service and outrageously overpriced for small bites of revolting food. Not kidding when I say revolting. You are supposed to get unlimited sandwiches and tea, but with the awful service you won't. If you must go to say you did it, take this advice please. Order one tray of their garbage food and share. They won't bring much , but what they do will be plenty to taste how gross. Service also sucks, but they hit you w/ a 12% service fee, which is funny cause most us tip 15-20%. Trust me, skip this trash. Also you need to make reservations which they are notorious for canceling - so make them and perhaps you'll get lucky.

I admit it, I am exactly the kind of person who would go absolutely nuts over British specialty foods. Curd, honey, jam, marmalade, tea - you've sold me. Plus, the descriptions on some of the food items read like Elaine wrote them for the J. Peterman catalog: "Throughout twelve long reigns, the regal breakfast has lacked a monarchical marmalade. For twelve long reigns, Fortnum's chefs have striven to create the recipe to crown all others."We have nothing quite like Fortnum & Mason in America. We just don't. There's even a little bar area - the cocktails, predictably, are on the pricy side, but at least you're getting a legit, quality cocktail. London bartenders at places like this exhibit a certain level of professionalism and care that you will not often get elsewhere. I mentioned the marmalade - I'm not sure I ever really liked marmalade until I tried the F&M "monarchical marmalade." Supermarket marmalade is usually too sweet and goopy. Not this one - it's packed with actual orange rind, and brings some significant bitterness to counterbalance the sugar. This stuff is great. Same with the many varieties of honey, there's a certain depth of flavor that supermarket honey (if it even is real honey) struggles to achieve. Even if I hated everything else here, I would come back just to stock up on the honey. I'm just not going to get Scottish ling heather honey, or Shropshire creamed honey, anywhere else near me. The English seem to take their honey quite seriously, and if you shop at Fortnum & Mason, you too can taste all of what I've just made a fuss about. Try some of the Shropshire honey with a funky, washed-rind, triple cream cheese, and get back to me. Go on, now.Pro tip - at least for the honey, jam and tea, as a visitor, if you don't want to lug many pounds of these little jars all over London, many of the same products are available at the (much smaller) Fortnum & Mason location in Heathrow.

A bit overpriced with more reliance on name brand than anything else, it's still a beautifully designed high end grocer filled with perhaps the best line up of teas and biscuits on earth. Don't forget to head down the stairs to the first level where you'll find one of the finest and most knowledgeable cheese and fresh fish shops on earth. I would have bought up $$$$ more however they no longer sell cooler bags required if you're bringing back fresh items to the States. That's a major miss on their part - realizing the plastic concerns, there are other options to keep products cool and we seem to still have those in USA so not sure why not here. The staff are exceptionally helpful and the product line overall is absolutely tremendous. Let's hope prices keep normalized otherwise this will become 100% tourist only.

Their Christmas decor was incomparable, with beautifully packaged gift items piled high to the ceiling. Shoppers were grabbing basketfuls of merchandise and store staff were close behind, quickly replenishing emptied shelves. I came for the slightly bitter rough cut marmalade and the loose tea counter, which despite the crowds of shoppers, was easily accessed. I got a young tea specialist who assured me he was knowledgeable about all aspects of tea at F&M. He graciously produced canister after canister of tea for me to sniff and steered me away from the Royal Blend, which he thought was not on par with other blends. In the end we settled on two kinds of tea and he took me directly to the cash register, bypassing all those who stood in line.

Returning after several years and the pause that Covid created, this is my "happy place"! As soon as the doors open before you with a smile and welcome, the shakedown begins without you being aware, "Please take my credit card and spend, spend, spend"! The uniformed "shoppers" are there to assist you with this task. I am here to find a specific men's fragrance for my husband...before the last word left my mouth, I was escorted to an elevator to another floor filled with endless displays of men's fragrances all beautifully displayed...wow! I was introduced to one of three fragrance experts. He quickly found the fragrance which is impossible to find in the US. He said there were four bottles left, I took all four. He then introduced me to another fragrance that was rare and said my husband may like this one. I took a deep whiff and he identified all of the notes that made this one even more unique. I claimed a bottle of this. In passing another display, he suggested something to treat myself....a classic fragrance that Houbigant was reviving in new packaging. After that tester I was transported to this familiar scent I wore in my late 20s....a great time in my life. I then bought that magic potion in a bottle. I looked at the time and had to leave for a luncheon. The fragrance shopper carefully packaged my purchases in the beautiful F&M blue gift bag with scented tissue. The blue hue is even more identifiable than Tiffany's. He presented his card and said he would be able to shop for any fragrance in the world I desired in the future. I left spending $1250 in 15 minutes and making a new friend. Imagine if I didn't have that luncheon date? I would have been there for hours calling Amex for a credit increase. Did I mention "shakedown"? This is the magic of customer service and marketing. I truly was under a pleasant spell. Thank you for maintaining the consistency that is F&M.

High end stuff! Candies, chocolates, tea, wine and all you might want to shop for in London. The place was crazy busy. A bit hotsie totsie for me but I struggled thru it and purchased some amazing English teas!! Attitude a bit snottie from a few yet the woman who checked me out was wonderful, kind, and just authentically English. Enjoyed the experience.

The best tea and cookie selection! Everything is so beautiful here. We loved that they had an entire floor dedicated to Christmas as well. It's October and they had a full table set and tree decorated.

This location is visually stunning - a must see in person experience. The shop is massive with so many goodies. I love their biscuits and Rosé champagne. Definitely worth the trip if you're visiting London.

Be the first to ReplyI love everything about this Fortnum location.
Whether you want to get special (and decently priced) gifts for friends when you go home, or just to grab a high tea or a meal, this is the spot to do it.

Absolutely stunning interior decoration. Opulent and diverse spreads. A must see in London. Go to the tea smelling station on the ground floor and the tea and ice cream parlor on floor 1. Their most popular tea is the elderflower, rose and strawberry tea. Delicious alone of with sugar. Lots of dairy free options for ice cream. The marzipan was show-stopping, shaped into little vegetables. On the lower level is a wine bar and picnic packing station. ......can you get extra sandwiches? My husband always says that afternoon tea never gives you enough savory items.
Be the first to ReplyA must in London.
The store was buzzing with customers on a weekday afternoon. Probably mostly tourists. I love the wide selection of teas and products they have. Another hidden gem was the downstairs food hall where I got a freshly made pasta for just 8 pounds! They also have a salad bar and cheese shop. I tried to buy Fortnum and Mason products here in the States but they are double and triple the costs so defiantly purchase while in London! They even have a wide variety of honey on the first floor and a little restaurant in the back. It was a bit too crowded to dine in so I just brought my take out pasta and sat in the courtyard in front of St John's church a few buildings down.

After F&M cancelled my booking an hour prior, we were reluctantly given a table at the wine bar downstairs. When we showed, the manager/host said "oh you must be the group from upstairs" and gave a cheeky smile. We were in for it. While we got sat, we were then promptly ignored for the duration of our dinner. Anabel, the server, gave us a small taste of basically the leftover from a table next to us and had we not aggressively flagged her down we'd have never got menus let alone any food or drink. We watched patrons pay, leave, new patrons get sat, provided menus, drinks, and recommendations, and served before we were even looked at again. Speaking of, the looks we got from the staff, who knew we were just the pity table "from upstairs" were what you'd usually give to a log left in a toilet, not paying customers who had been nothing but respectful all evening. After 90 minutes of being ignored, made to feel unwanted, and unwelcome we left to enjoy our night elsewhere. I'd prefer to give a half star if I could
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful store and exceptional products.
In particular I want to give a thanks to Michael on the 1st floor for his help with my purchase. He was knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. He, along with the help of Kristine, packed my Alice in Wonderland- Rory Dobner purchases to get them back to New York. Their packing worked, as I can happily say I got them back in one piece. Great store and thanks again Michael and Kristine!

Excellent place for tea if you are visiting! The food was delicious and the scones and clotted cream were to die for. Highly recommend. Service is great even if they're not too chatty and all the pastries were good. We had the high tea menu and tried a couple different varieties. The gift shops below are a great place to pick up souvenirs as well. Will likely go again when I'm back in London!
Be the first to ReplyFortnum & Mason's store is fantastic, their tea room is
Fortnum & Mason's store is fantastic, their tea room is seriously lacking. We've been here many times pre-pandemic and the service and quality of food in the tea room has declined tremendously. They have ample wait staff, the trouble is that only a handful of the servers were taking time to describe the sandwiches and pastries when they were delivered. The scones were dry. For about the same price, go to Claridges Foyer and Library Room for a true English tea experience. The setting is bright and sunny, but you still cannot shake the "I'm having tea in a department store" feeling. If you've been to the cafe at any Neiman Marcus, it's the same atmosphere - nice upscale, but still a department store. We had to ask several times for water glasses to be refilled. Not to mention, the room was stifling hot with no air flow.

First time experiencing afternoon tea in England! The service was wonderful- staff were constantly checking on us to see if we needed anything else and happy to take photos of our group when we asked. The Countess Grey tea and the plain scones with cream and strawberry jam were my favorite of the experience!
Be the first to ReplyWhat a fun store! I have no idea how I had never been
What a fun store! I have no idea how I had never been before. I had walked by it a million times and never gone in; I even knew of its existence. This time, I ordered my advent calendar and some additional tea to be sent home to the US (£25 shipping for the whole order!) to save on my luggage space. It was a big, reusable, wooden advent calendar. I did buy a refill of the teas for it for next year. There is just so much in this store, and it is a lot less overwhelming than Harrod's. The food is fantastic. I love their brand of teas. The food hall is a lot of fun, and there are so many options. I found many Christmas presents here (food and non-food items)I highly recommend coming to F&M. Amazing store, fun to walk around. I'll be back the next time I'm in London, and I'll probably order more from the online store in the mean time.
Be the first to ReplyI will start with how stunning the room was.
It was breathtaking with all the Christmas decorations. The server was very attentive and helpful when I asked for suggestions. The food was absolutely delicious. It was one of the best experiences of my whole trip to London. I will definitely return for high tea on a future visit.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for afternoon tea and the ambience and service
Came here for afternoon tea and the ambience and service was impeccable. There was a pianist playing soft melodies all throughout - ranging from musical theater to disney songs - perfect for the atmosphere. The afternoon tea came with plenty of finger sandwiches, scones, clotted butter, strawberry and blueberry jams, and pastries, and they were all refillable!! My favorites were indeed the scones and clotted butter, and the lemon meringue dessert. Every bite tasted like a taste of heaven. However, the other pastries were not as special, and I could easily choose a piece of cheesecake or chocolate cake over them. The tea selection was quite grand, and you get to switch the tea after every plate! I only wish I could have stayed longer - as two hours was barely enough for me to finish every part of the meal, let alone get another plate of my favorites.
