Food overpriced.
Service inattentive. Could not split checks. Could not make substitutions. Would not go back.
Be the first to ReplyCozy joint off the main drag in KC.
Tasty small bites. Attentive service. Would go again.
Be the first to ReplyOverall service was good.
Food was good with the exception of our steak that was overly salted so much we couldn't eat it. I'd give it a shot again for sure.
Be the first to ReplyVibes were cool but the food was too sweet.
We got 3 different apps and everything was sweet. Left after apps and went down the street and got Mexican food.

They recently brought their brunch back and it's just as amazing as you'd expect it to be. on the menu: breakfast sandwich steak & eggs burrito french toast x 2 charcuterie board breakfast cocktails (bloody mary & pimm's cup) our thoughts: you're going to love this brunch! everything from start to finish is phenomenal; all of the flavors are unique, fresh, and so delicious. the atmosphere is warm & welcoming and definitely gives an elevated, neighborhood hangout vibe. our tip: do yourself a favor and order two orders of their house made pickles. also take advantage of their reservations to secure your spot kiddo menu available: nope, kiddo friendly choices & side orders available

We dined at Fox & Pearl last fall, so we were overdue for a return. We brought along two first-timers for a fun evening of great food and conversation. We were seated in the dining room adjacent to the open kitchen. Our first time sitting here. Loved the spaciousness and natural light. Shelby, our server, did a great job helping us make menu selections and ensuring we were having an awesome experience. After ordering cocktails, we each selected a different Small Plate for sharing: Coal Roasted Mokum Carrots, Potted Cheese and Ibis Bakery bread, Grilled Chicken Wings and Beef Tartare. We thought all were excellent, but the standouts were the Carrots and Tartare. For entrees, I was disappointed to learn the renown Fried Chicken is only served on Monday. So that will have to wait for another visit. As I had never tried a pasta at Fox & Pearl, I went with Beef Bolognese. The pancetta and fettuccine chittara were incredible. My only complaint was the portion was so small. One of our first-timers went with the Smoked Pork Chop that I had on my last visit and he was incredibly complimentary on the portion size and perfect preparation. My wife and our other guest ordered the Grilled Hanger Steak. They both felt the meat and fries were over-salted. They were tempted to have the kitchen re-do the order, but didn't want to drag out our meal. We finished with some delicious ice wine: Royal Tokaji Red Label. If you've never tried it, it's a great alternative to dessert.

We had the best server- he explained items on the menu very well, was attentive yet left us alone to chat. Items we loved- potted cheese, it had a nice easy kick of spice and was very good. The beef bolognese was great but super small portion for the price. Charcuterie board was good with pate, hot mustard, all sorts of yummy bits. Atmosphere was great- lighting perfect, vintage feel was awesome! Hanger steak was a little too rare but our friend ate half- said the fries were good. Desserts were ok not spectacular. Overall, good experience.

We ate downstairs at the bar and had wonderful service, our food was amazing and loved the atmosphere. Great date place.

A wonderful farm to table experience in KC! Heavy emphasis on farm to table bc we ended up sitting next to one of the featured farms, Hemme Brothers! We had to get dishes with their cheeses so we did the bread and cheese dip to start which was fantastic. So creamy and a little kick in it which we enjoyed. For our main dish we did the Mezzaluna and it was amazing. It is a small portion so the appetizer was a good idea but it didn't feel heavy at all like most pastas do. The service was great, our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and patient with us. The place itself is so cool. We loved the decor and ambiance. The best thing about this place was it really wasn't that expensive for what I would say was fancier food. I'll be back!
Be the first to ReplyWe ate here a couple of weeks ago.
Hubs ordered Grilled Hanger Steak, and I ordered the Mezzaluna. The steak dish was huge and well-flavored, but would it bankrupt you to add a couple of veggies? The Mezzaluna was delicious, but I literally thought it was a side dish that went with my main dish. It was laughably tiny. Three itsy bitsy ravioli. It was small for a side dish, nevermind a main dish. I mean, could you have given me a hunk of bread, at least? (Guess not) Thank goodness the steak and fries were huge and hubby was willing to share. I am still angry about my tiny $21 meal. We also ordered an appetizer, which I can't critique, because it never arrived. Nor did the waiter, ever, the entire meal, so we couldn't let him know we didn't get our appetizer. He, of course, blamed a 'new guy', when he finally arrived to push dessert on us. Not once during our meal did he come by to refill, ask us how we were doing, if we needed anything (Yes, our appetizer!). He literally threw the dessert menus on our table while he raced by. Worst service ever, for sure. It wasn't even a busy night! Because the food, what little there was of it, was actually yummy, I will try this place again, someday. Fingers crossed we get a real waiter next time. LOL, writing this review made me angry all over again, so I removed a star.
Be the first to ReplyThe decor is really cute.
We had a table of 5 and they sat us at a long shared table. The bone marrow was our favorite app and the chicken fried quail was a great entree.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food! Cool atmosphere.
Overall super cool spot. Loved everything. Will be backs
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance is fun and the bartender with the hat.
.. by far the best drinks in town. That gentleman knows what up. For the food I recommend the kale salad, the duck, (cooked perfectly) and ending it with the cheesecake. Chefs kiss I would do it all over again.

My family was looking for a good place near Hy-Vee arena on a Sunday night. This place came up but I was skeptical because of so few reviews. It's a beautiful casual atmosphere. The staff was fantastic. The food was outstanding. The beets were out of this world! Highly recommend this place.

If you like small, curated menus, then this is the place for you. We loved our food and the drinks were delicious. Keep in mind, if you are picky, this might not be the place for you due to their smaller menu. Their menu changes seasonally, and can be found on their website. Atmosphere is great for date night or a night out with friends.
Be the first to ReplyVery dissatisfied.
Over priced steak & pork chop without a steak knife. Very fatty. Service was sub-par. Bring back the fried chicken. Menu made no sense (cocktails, appetizers).

We came here for dinner one evening after driving past it for years and wondering if it was any good... and it was great! We really enjoyed the steak with mashed potatoes. The veggie lasagna was good but not exactly what we had in mind when we ordered it. It was prepared well, just not really our taste. Dessert was amazing and so was the service and atmosphere. We will definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is really bad.
The prices are insanely high for what you get. I understand we're in an inflationary period but this place is just a rip off. The food is not that great. We waited nearly 45 minutes for the appetizers which was tiny jars of cheese with a laughable amount of bread to accompany it, two bowls of pickles and two small salads. Then the entrees came, which took at least another 45 minutes. I got the smoked pork chop, which was okay I guess. The chop had a pretty substantial fat cap on it which I thought was kinda weird. I thought smoking pork like that is a technique to tenderize leaner cuts. It came with what I'd call a smear of mashed potatoes. Kind of insulting considering it cost $32. Thick cut pork chops are not that pricey, and it wasn't like this was a special duroc chop or something, it wasn't even thick cut, pretty thin. We also shared a bowl of Brussels sprouts, which were flashed fried and crazy salty and $10 lol. They weren't very good, and the sprouts had been broken up so it was like salty brussels sprout leaves. It's so dark in there it's literally hard to see your food when your cutting it up to eat. Also, the smoker is unbearable and after the 3 hours it took to finish dinner we were happy to get out of there. Our clothes stunk like a campfire. There's plenty of fabulous restaurants in town at the price point, avoid this place.

I recently visited Fox and Pearl for the first time and while the ambiance was unique and perfect setting for a date night, the food was a major disappointment. We ordered the butternut squash ravioli as a starter, but it was not flavorful and the portion size was quite small. The pot pie was also small but filling, but it too lacked any standout flavors. The cheese plate was a letdown as it consisted of just a jar of cheese and some bland and dry bread. The only redeeming dish was the Brussels sprouts, which were pretty good, but not enough to make up for the overall poor quality of the food. The service was decent and our waitress was attentive, but the high prices for such mediocre food make this restaurant hard to recommend. The great service and ambiance is why I rated this place 2 stars instead of 1. TLDR; unless you're okay with spending a lot of money for subpar food, I'd recommend looking for another option.
Be the first to ReplyThe environment was quaint and intimate.
There was non-alcohol option to drink. The kale salad is now in standing with the kale salad from Westside Local. The beet dish made me second guess my disdain for beets. My girlfriend and I having been talking about how we must go back!
Be the first to ReplyThe prices would lead you to believe the food was excellent.
..top notch. Well it isn't. Weird mixes of food trying to be swanky. Oh here are some pickles for an appetizer, oh here's some pimento cheese spread for you bread. It was sooo dark here. Everyone had to use their phone lights to read their menu. We had a group of 10 and the waiter was good not great. I can't imagine ever going here again.
