Foxface Natural New York Reviews from The Last Year
Fine tastes with punch music in your ears.
The Montauk Flute was swimming in garlic and cilantro, drizzled with a touch of acidity. A fish you wanna catch on your pallet. I'll be back.
The food is excellent and unique.
We each had the tasting menu and the dishes were flavorful and well-paced. We were disappointed by the corkage policy because prior to our arrival, we had asked about bringing a bottle of wine for a birthday via instagram and the account manager on instagram indicated that the $50 corkage fee "may" be waived. We had understood that to mean that the restaurant would waive the fee in light of the birthday celebration. When we arrived, we learned from the server and the manager that the fee "may" be waived under certain conditions none of which had been previously communicated to us on the DM. The manager understood that we were displeased about how the fee waiver had been communicated to us initially and when we received our bill, the fee was still there. We wish that given the circumstances that the restaurant would have elected to waive the fee but we nevertheless paid and gave a 20% tip.
A very weird tasting menu with full of surprises.
Highly recommend getting a resy for this location, it's a very warm and cozy restaurant with not a lot of seating. We loved everything we got. Highly recommend trying the fluke and the foie gras. Servers were very attentive and knowledgeable about the food as well as the sources of the seafood
We had an amazing Valentine's Day dinner here.
Everything was incredible and balanced- we especially enjoyed the Maine uni pasta, kangaroo tartare, and boar. So fun to try new delicious foods and natural wines! Service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!!!
We were on time for our reservation and were the first to
We were on time for our reservation and were the first to enter the restaurant. We were seated at our designated high top table. Though I've used the chairs at a high top before, the restaurant's chairs had low backs and were highly uncomfortable for me due to my medical condition and my recent lower back surgery. I need more back support than these particular low-back chairs provide. Due to my physical discomfort and knowledge that I would be in further pain later if I were to endure a 2-hour or so dinner being seated in these uncomfortable (for me) chairs, we asked to be seated at a table with regular seats, but none were offered. With no possibility of switching tables, unfortunately the only option to spare my back any further pain was to leave, which is a shame as my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. For leaving the restaurant due to my inability to sit in pain in their highly uncomfortable chairs, the restaurant imposed a $70 cancellation charge. I wrote to the owner with an explanation of my medical condition, but instead of being met with compassion and understanding he was rude, insulted me, and changed the narrative to insinuate that my leaving was due to not liking the menu. The behavior exhibited by the owner is unprofessional and has no place in the hospitality business.
Beware: Rude Owner

My second time at Foxface Natural and I loved it even more
My second time at Foxface Natural and I loved it even more than my first. Everything one could ask for in a restaurant. Excellent food, knowledgeable and welcoming owners and staff in a comfortable and relaxed space. I'll be back!
Had a really good experience here, and this is probably one
Had a really good experience here, and this is probably one of the best new restaurants I've been to in a while. I enjoyed trying some new foods like the kangaroo tartare. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the dishes here, but some flavorful standouts were the bluefin and kangaroo tartare apps. The fluke was also very filling - we got the large, and would recommend that for around 4 people. It's a pretty small restaurant, so I think would be an ideal spot for parties of 2-4. The owner also took the time to come to each of the tables and talk to us about the food. Their menu seems to rotate often, so I'm really excited to come back and continue trying more of their dishes / the wines.
Innovative restaurant worth the hype
Foxface Natural is the second iteration of the former sandwich shop. Previously known for its adventurous gourmet lunches, this new version is a refined, high end dining experience. Though I hadn't been to the sandwich shop, I'd heard a lot of buzz about the food here. After Pete Wells of the NYT gave Foxface 3/4 stars (an excellent review), I wanted to come before it became too difficult. I'm happy to report that despite the high expectations, I was not disappointed with my visit! We had two starters and a main. The tuna crudo and kangaroo tartare starters stole the show. The grouper for 2 rounded out our meal in an awesome squid ink sauce. The wine choices leaned 'natural' and were well made and well priced. Foxface is unique in an already crowded restaurant city, definitely check it out.
This place is an example of great unique NYC dining.
Fantastic seafood that is fresh and crafted in unique items, paired with wonderful wines. The staff and the overall atmosphere make you feel welcome and comfortable without being stuffy. I highly recommend the Uni Maine Pasta as well as the Sweet bread schnitzel, both a must try.
A hype machine INDEED! I was so excited to try this place
A hype machine INDEED! I was so excited to try this place out and went on my birthday because I was so sure, from the reviews, that everything would be exceptional. I was wrong, everything was pretty mediocre and at a very high price. To start we got the kangaroo tartare, uni on top of wagyu and potato, and the pickled mackerel. The uni dish barely had any uni and was basically a large slab of tasteless (very fresh) raw meet on a tater tot ($36 or $39 for three tasteless beef tater tots). The mackerel was delish but SUCH a tiny portion for around $26. The kangaroo tartare was interesting and probably one of the tastier items but strangely enough there was a HUGE portion of it and neither me or my husband could eat all that raw meat (our stomachs were quite bloated while eating it). The main dishes (goat and the fish dish) were OK but left us wanting more flavor, more gravitas, considering the price and "exotic" brand this place was pitching. Overall very MEH food. The best parts were the lovely service (so hard to find in NY now) and the wine (excellent oranges). But I will not be coming back to spend my hard earned dollars here.
Delicious food and unique ingredients.
The service was attentive but not over bearing. Really enjoyed everything we ordered. Look forward to going back again to see what new dishes they have in store as the seasons change.
Marvelous
Delicious unique and special. What you want every dining experience to be. Everything was marvelous. My new favorite restaurant in NYC.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
