Funck's Restaurant Palmyra Reviews
Yelp came through for us again.
While traveling, I always check out Yelp to help us find a place to eat. I found Funck's!! Honestly their score should be higher. The restaurant is super clean with plenty of seating. The staff was friendly and helpful but the true test is the food and our appetizers and main dishes were SO good!!! There is a variety of foods to choose from so even the pickiest of eaters should be able to find something to eat.

Was not very appetizing, tasted like bland frozen food that is not worth the price. Other than that, the service is friendly.
Cold food served not how you like it. Manager doesnโt care!
Ordered bacon, extra crispy and home fries extra crispy got cold home fries and limp bacon. The waitress was very frustrated because the kitchen doesnโt follow the orders and the food was cold.. brought to the managers attention. He did not care nor did he have anything to say. Save yourself the hassle of getting a crappy meal and go to Miaโs in Palmyra where the food is hot and good.

we had breakfast there and it was cold and we asked for bacon and homefriws well done and they came out cold and hardly cooked. the waitress was very frustrated at the kitchen because they don't follow instructions on the ticket. when brought to the managers attention, he did not care nor did he have anything to say.. save yourself from getting cold food and not cooked the way you want to go to Mia's in Palmyra!

Very cheap food and no taste at all,,our breakfast wasn't as expected,, I don't think I'll come back again
This is a great restaurant for a casual dinner.
Seating is available in the bar or dining area. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was very good. We had the Brussels sprouts appetizer, the seafood tacos (special for the evening), and the Harvest Salad with grilled chicken. Unfortunately, the tacos only come in flour tortillas. I wish corn tortillas had been an option. The flour tortillas should probably have been toasted; if they were, it was tough to tell. The only negative to the salad was too many cranberries. I should have asked to go light on them, so that's on me. There was a large beer selection. We happened to be there during HH, so the Brussels sprouts and drinks were reduced in price. If we lived in the area, I think this restaurant would be in our regular rotation. Go! You'll enjoy yourself and your meal.
Our server Riley was wonderful.
Kind, accommodating for our large party, and efficient. The "buffet" on the other hand was another story. There was one chef for a very long buffet line with a large amount of people waiting, on a Sunday morning. A lot of the items like omelets and waffles were custom made, but only one chef working both. He was NOT a pleasant man, maybe having a bad day, you never know. But possible he was overwhelmed due to the large buffet line with many custom orders. Food from the buffet (besides my made to order waffle) was freezing cold. Next time I'll just do a custom order. Coffee was good though
This restaurant is an absolute miss! We tried this place
This restaurant is an absolute miss! We tried this place because they advertise on the interstate 81 highway. They are over 6 miles off the highway. We came here on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the steak and cheese eggrolls for an appetizer, and the fish and chips for my meal. Both were over fried, and completely inedible. The fish and chips came with 3 pound of fried, and 1 small piece of fried fish. They tasted like burnt grease, and had dark brown patches on them from burned grease over frying. I called the manager over. and he stated that they were over fried the minute he looked at them. Instead of offering to remake the items, or take them off the bill, he took half off the fish and chips ($ 10), but they completely inedible. What was he thinking. The server had attitude the minute we walked in. She was upset she was working on a Sunday. The tarter sauce slid right off the plate from all the grease, and fell on the floor. The server saw this, but wouldn't come over to help. I was on my hands and knees cleaning the floor. It took 10 minutes to get another tarter sauce, but the fish was inedible anyway. To my followers: Do not stop here. Some of the worst food in the 12 years of reviewing restaurants. Almost everything is fried and inedible. No one cares here at the restaurant. I wouldn't even call this a restaurant. Keep going to the next interstate exit.
First time here and pleasantly surprised
Four of us stopped for supper. Based on trip advisor reviews I thought this place would be pricey. It really wasnโt based on all the food you get with a serving. Two had Mac/cheese, one the 4 piece chicken, and one the special BLT. All of us were stuffed and nobody could finish their entree. I highly recommend this place.
We've been coming here for over twenty years, but no more.
the quality is way down Went with a group of six. first bad sign, the coffee was lukewarm but i was thirsty so i drank it. i was waiting to be offered a refill so i could ask for a hot cup. but no offer to refill the entire meal (my cup was empty before the meal was served). i ordered the fried chicken and asked for dark meat. was told no problem. when it came out i saw wings in the plate instead of legs so i sent it back. it came back with legs, but two breasts. that's white meat. i thought i'd give it a try but they were way overcooked (chewy and stringy and dry). so i called it and sent it back, not interested in anything to replace it. I am amazed that a manager never came over to discuss we had: stuffed meatloaf: this has the most potential, was really tasty and well presented, but room temperature chicken rivel soup: bland, my wife called it Hoss's quality (not a compliment) cheese steak: not terrible, not a stand out. $4 extra for fries (after tax and tip) french onion burger: not offensive but also not hot fish and chips: literally dripping grease the wait staff was friendly but not overly knowledgeable on the menu (they pointed to the asterisks on the menu as house specialties. umm no, they were the warnings for undercooked food). but they were two very nice ladies and brought us extra plates for our birthday celebration really disappointed that i sent something back and no manager cared
Love the breakfast tacos at Funcks.
Hot and tasty with good ingredients. The service is outstanding. 5 stars.
Worse meal ever
I had a ham and cheese omelet and hashbrowns It was the worse. Omelet was over cooked and hardly any ham I could not eat it my hashbrowns were filled with oil and ice cold and so crisp when I cut into them they shot off my plate I could not eat them. The toast was burnt. My waiter smelled like cigarettes everytime he passed the table I would have a coughi g frenzy. Never asked me how my meal was. Did ask if I wanted to take it with me I mean you could tell I did not eat it. I will never return and will tell my friends ot to go there.
I haven't been to this restaurant since at least 2001.
Back then it was ok. It is very good now. I had the Asian rice bowl that was on special. It was outstanding! So many interesting flavors. It was a little pricey but totally worth it.
Great place!
We stayed close to this restaurant while visiting Hershey and ate there for breakfast one day and dinner another day. Food was great and plentiful for both meals, staff was super friendly and helpful, and prices reasonable. If you like meatloaf you must try their stuffed meatloaf!
Eh
They advertise โfresh fruitโ but itโs not close to being fresh. Itโs that nasty jarred fruit that is mushy and it all tastes the same. Not cheap eitherโฆ Please get real fresh fruit Please donโt say itโs fresh if itโs not!
The food was not so good.
Went to lunch with friends and sat outside which was very enjoyable, but the food for one of our friends was terrible. The tomato bisque soup was loaded with hard pieces of soft pretzel , it was way too much pretzel for the little soup you got. She also ordered the Brussel sprouts which were burned, greasy and tasteless. After the waitress was told about it and didn't really seem to care she asked for the manager. Wow she didn't say she was sorry about her food, didn't offer a replacement ,her response was very cold and just walked away. The food that the rest of us got was OK, but my friend returned her food and sat there while we ate. No enjoyable. The manager should have offered a replacement. I think it's better at night, not going back for lunch.
One and Done
We were looking for new places to try and decided on Funck's for dinner after seeing their Oktoberfest menu online. We were first not too enamored of the decor... it sort of looks like a tired, old Sizzler. We ordered drinks (no issues there), an appetizer (soup and a salad) and entrees. The soup was cool to the point of almost cold, and due to the temperature, had a consistency of pureed baby food. The real issue was the entree - jagerschniztel that was supposed to be served with spaetzle and potato pancakes. The schnitzel was overcooked to the point of almost being burnt. The sides were not spaetzle and potato pancakes, but mashed potatoes and potato pierogis. Two helpings of potatoes... When we pointed it out to the server, she said, "the kitchen must have been out of the other sides and just substituted." No kidding, but how about let us know so we can decide if we'd rather order a different entree? No discounts were offered, or even a dessert. This place is definitely a "one and done" - we will not be returning, nor will we think about patronizing any of the other 8 restaurants owned by these folks.
