We had a nice evening at Galley beach. The setting is gorgeous, the service was impeccable, and the people watching was great. The food was very good. I would return for a special occasion.
Not worth it
Beautiful setting but outrageously expensive and the food was not worth the price. The prefix price of $89 pp is deceiving as there were only 3 dinner options priced at $89. Most dishes had an up charge of $18-25 plus there is an automatic 23% gratuity added. Maybe go there for lunch. Dinner not worth the price tag .
“Tasteless” Pricing Scheme!
Beware! When I went to make a reservation, I was told it was $89. Pre Fixe menu for 1 app and 1 entree. When I arrived, HALF of the menu items required plus dollars! (See below). Tacky for a fine restaurant. Never seen anything like it and the diners around me were also talking about it. The restaurant and setting on the beach is gorgeous and you are paying dearly for it. The food was good, the service was excellent. Just bring TWO wallets!
Nothing beats the view of the sunset at this restaurant.
The couches and tables set up on the beach. Some with fire tables are just gorgeous! The service was great! Especially considering how busy it was. The dining room was so loud we could hardly speak across the table. But it is to be expected. Considering it is a busy restaurant. The price fix dinner at $89 seems reasonable, but everything that we chose off the menu was an extra cost. It seems that most things are an extra cost. We are used to Manhattan prices, so it's not that it's unusual for us to spend money for a nice dinner. The food was average and did not reflect the cost. A 23% gratuity is added to the check, which no one tells you when they drop it off. We had two appetizers, two entrées, one cocktail, one cup of coffee and a $97 bottle of wine. The check was $458. You have to make a reservation for a table outside to watch the sunset, as well as a table inside for dinner. I would definitely go back for the sunset, but I would dine someplace else for dinner.
The dining room (for lunch or dinner) is okay.
It's quite $$$ for the quality of food. The sunset, however, is excellent. I recommend making a res for one of the seating areas on the sand for sunset. Drinks are good, service is solid, but the sunsets are 10/10!
Galley Beach delivers an unforgettable dining experience.
The pasta was sensational and my wife's lobster was as fresh and flavorful as it gets. Service was warm, professional, and accommodating. The ocean breeze and stunning views created a dreamy atmosphere, enhanced by perfectly curated music played through crystal‑clear speakers. It's always a pleasure returning here -- and we can't wait for the next visit.
Snobby but Ok, fun. great dining experience.
The food, ambiance and sunsets are as good as it gets. Absolute top tier in every way. feet in the sand while sipping your cocktails. prepare to empty your wallet as expected and just know that everyone sizes up everyone up there. It’s comical actually.

We didn't have a reservation, but were able to be seated at a high top with a wonderful beach view. Our server Jimmy was knowledgeable and kind! We could tell he got a little stressed due to his tables being spread out so much, but he did a great job giving us a lovely experience. The drinks were great, the food was delicious, and the dessert was light and tasty. My only con was that my steak was overcooked but I decided to just let it be. Everything else came out perfectly. We will definitely be back again!
Views great, but not worth it
I had high hopes for this place, given the stunning sunset views and charming ambience. But, unfortunately, the positives stop there. While the setting is truly breathtaking, the food was underwhelming at best. For the price, I expected a lot more than what was delivered. The dishes were bland, lacked creativity, and didn’t justify the hefty price tag. It honestly felt like I was paying for the view more than the meal itself. Our waiter was friendly and offered several menu options, but didn’t bother to explain any of the costs associated with the items we selected. When the bill arrived, I was shocked to see a large tip and tax amount automatically added. It's one thing to add service charges, but it felt a bit excessive without any transparency upfront. If you’re coming here, make sure you’re more interested in the view than the food—because while the sunsets are worth it, the dining experience definitely isn’t.
This Chef had No Chops
My husband and I went here for our 40th anniversary based on our hotel's recommendation. What a disappointment! The staff wasn't welcoming, the waiter was haughty and arrogant, and most importantly, the food was incredibly subpar. I had the halibut, and frankly, the way I cook it at home surpasses what the chef offered up that evening. The summer vegetables were just okay, nothing special or noteworthy. This was the worst anniversary dinner we've ever had - so bad that we didn't even bother with dessert. To add insult to injury, a kitchen gratuity was automatically added to the bill. We will never go back.

I am imagining a big part of the appeal here is the beautiful view! Unfortunatley we went on a day that was very overcast so any of that appeal was lost on us. We sat at an akward table where the staff was acting like it was normal to pour wine and serve dishes through the windows that were cut behind the table. It is advertised as a two course price fix dinner which in theory is great - -especially for groups that are splitting the bills, but that concept was pretty much defeated by most items on the limited menu having an up charge. Of course the items with an upcharge are pretty much all of the things that you would like to eat. My chowder was underwhelming and served at room temperature. If I was not with a large group I would have sent it back, My shrim dish was delicious. We had a nice time here but I didn't get the impression from our large party that anyone was rushing to go back there,
EXPENSIVE NIGHT OUT
Beautiful venue,on a large flat beach, next to the water. Reservations a must in advance. Crowded at 6:30 PM. Wait staff efficient and helpful. The menu is price fixed at $89, Choices of seven apps, and then seven main courses. Many of the options have additional costs.....e.g., Lobster Pot Pie is an extra $34, The main courses were of generous size. We both took half home. One eclectic extra app was Deviled Lobster Eggs. This was a rip off! For $12 you receive ONE of the smallest eggs you've ever seen, cut in half with filling in which you can't detect the taste or sight of any lobster! Tasted great, but I'd avoid this! With drinks and none of the four $19 desserts, and after the 23% tip automatically added (3% goes to the kitchen staff!! I like that!), the bill for two people came to $312. the food was delicious on this expensive night out!
High Price, Not Gourmet, 23% Fixed Tip
The pre fix menu is unique, yet it seems like reheated food to get high table turnover. Very pricey wine list - rather a purposeful intent to have prices in the hundreds to thousands - and obnoxious hidden items like $5 bread. A 23% automatic tip added to the check helps explain that there’s a high ability to make money. Maybe it’s a Palm Beach crowd on their annual rota but something seems out of balance here.
What a gorgeous view.
We sat where we could look out at the beach and ocean and watch the sunset. There was a parking lot in front of the restaurant if you managed to bring a car to Nantucket. The service was impeccable. There was always a waiter within earshot. He kept our waters fully all times. I started off with a stuffed eggplant with apricots, currents and yogurt. It was devine. I wish they would share the recipe. For a main course, I had a grilled veal chop over a bed of warm wild rice and mushrooms. I had it cooked medium rare. I would give it six stars but I am only allowed five. I would definitely return if I ever had the opportunity. A definite must if ever visiting the island.

Pro- atmosphere and service Con- food was mid, nothing I would crave and have to have again. Drinks had NO alcohol. I had a martini which was tasty but very small and had no alcohol. I switched to a Paloma which was larger, but again no alcohol. My husband ordered two martinis and a Tito's and soda - again- hardly any alcohol in them. We are not big drinkers so 2 drinks for me and 3 drinks for my husband in a little over one hour usually is a lot- but - there could not have been the normal amount of alcohol. We felt scammed! We are paying $25 a drink plus 23 percent gratuity for juice. Galley Beach should be ashamed. If you go- go for cocktail hour and order wine. At least you know you are getting what you paid for: the view and drinks! - We will never return. We will not support any business we consider dishonest. I 100 percent would rather be served on Sand Bar!
Left with a bad taste
Instead of leaving the restaurant feeling like I’d had a lovely evening, I felt like I had been financially gouged. I’m used to dining in high-end restaurants and paying the price, but this was outrageous. A day later, I still can’t get over how they took advantage. Truly leaves me with a bad taste for Nantucket that this is how guests are treated.

Beautiful beach restaurant. Great clam chowder. Pretty view On the beach. Make sure to make a reservation unless you go at lunch.
For the price, the food was extremely mid.
The best aspect about the restaurant was the beach front views and having dinner in the sand. I will say that part was spectacular, however, I was very unimpressed by the menu and quality of food. The service was also not very impressive. The only reason I would go back would be to have drinks at the bar. There's 100% better places to go for dinner in Nantucket than here.

My wife and I dined at Galley Beach this week to celebrate her birthday and we were disappointed from start to finish. The restaurant was overcrowded and the space between tables was minimal. The couple next to us was uncomfortable with the seating and discussed leaving, which they did after an appetizer. Service was rushed as it was evident that tables needed to be turned as quickly as possible. At one point the Somm brought our wine over from the ice bucket without a towel and cold water dripped from his hand on my warm dinner. Our entrees were disappointing. My wife ordered the grilled black Angus filet mignon with seasonal vegetables, potato gratin, green peppercorn reduction. The vegetables and potato were over seasoned and the very nice looking filet was inedible due to the excessive spice in the reduction. She scraped off as much as possible but neither of us could taste the steak. The server saw that we were having an issue but didn't offer a solution. My halibut was so salty I quit after a few bites. At that point dinner was over. We feel the $89.00 per person fixed price plus the additional $37.00 in up charges for the apps + entrees with a mandatory 23% gratuity was a total waste of our money. The location is very nice but we won't be returning.
Super bartenders!!!
We visited for drinks at sunset and Jim? and Campbell were tending bar. They were entertaining, made amazing drinks and wished we could have stayed longer they were super fun!
High End Dining
This was an exceptional dining experience, without feeling stuffy! The food was phenomenal, and it was the last night of the season! Had the most delicious lobster calzone for an appetizer, which I should have ordered as my meal!! Such a wonderful restaurant to witness beautiful sunsets! Wish we could have eaten outside, but it was a bit chilly!
not impressed.
prix fix menu is deceiving. everything on menu is up charge from the base prix fix. so many other restaurants on the island are far better. to top the ridiculous cost of this meal , the ribeye i got was over cooked and awful. when i told manager , the reply was " well, you ate it didn't you !".
One star for the incredible view.
everything else was just horrible. we made a reservation for cocktails/apps (and told we'd be charged $100pp if we didn't show up), but when we got there, the host treated us like an annoyance and was incredibly rude, flustered to find us a table even though we had a reservation. Once we were seated, we had to ask for menus/water/a SERVER at all! food was NOT good and one of the most expensive meals we had on our trip (for literally 2 appetizers). not to mention the drunk people falling out of their chairs and flashing the restaurant a few tables over. just go to the beach for the sunset view, skip this place. so many other better restaurants for this price point in Nantucket! :)

This place used to be really special but now it's not worth it unless you are just there to get the sunset picture. The staff is really pretentious, they charged $100 for 3 drinks at the bar and only filled up the champagne glass half full. It also used to be be a fun bar scene but they don't have enough bartenders and they ones who work there act as if they are doing a chore to get drinks orders. They add on all these hidden service charge fees on top of the super high prices so no wonder the staff has stopped caring. The host was really rude and argued about a 15 minute mistake on the reservation. It's a shame because the view is amazing!

Great evening, crowded but very personable service and super dinner. First the oysters are exceptional, the lobster bisque was chocked full of lobster bits and the Lobster entree and swordfish entree were superb. We will be back , very special.

The service, food and drinks are great but the view is everything. Once the sunsets, everyone goes over to the beach to take pictures... and the pictures are amazing. As must as I loved the whole experience the view is what makes the experience spectacular.
This is the "Go to place" for great dining and sunsets.

Started off with oysters which were not that good...had to ask for cocktail sauce which tasted like bbq sauce. Go here. It's beautiful! Waiters are not that nice just fyi. Tips are included so they do not try any harder than they have to. We had summer vegetables (served cold btw)...eh, clam chowder, eh....smoky bacon flavor....scallop's excellent accompaniments eh....salmon was good to average, not spectacular, Pearl onions and apples were good

This place is fantastic.
Ignore the reviews. Yes it's expensive but hey, you're on the beach in Nantucket. We had the lobster spring rolls, Caesar salad, chicken, and halibut. All of it was excellent! The drinks are good too. The most fun is people watching. You will have a great night here.
Great views, decent food, not worth it
You can’t beat the view if the weather cooperates (which it did). The service is excellent. The menu is less than inspired. The food was well prepared. The drinks and wines were overpriced. And when the check came, it is hard to feel that it is worth the price. On an island that is overpriced (but we deal with it) when one comes away feeling that it isn’t worth the price, you question if it is a place you will go out if your way to visit again. Been there, done that, but not coming back anytime soon.

Overrated and over priced! Just don’t think worth the hype. Setting of course nice on the beach but that was only good thing. Wouldn’t waste my money again.
Not worth the money
Location is beautiful, but value for money isn’t there. Waiting staff was obviously trying to get us out as soon as they could. Kept saying take your time but came at least 3 times to try and take our plates away while we were still eating, and they offered bread without mentioning it was an extra charge so we thought that was cheeky. Food was ok, but not really worth the price they charge, and as other reviewers noted, some of the dishes come with a supplement. The atmosphere was ok until sunset, fairly quiet. But at sunset it became a bit uncomfortable with lots of people who behaves like that was the only sunset they’ll ever witness in their lives. In addition, although the beach club hotel next door advertises the restaurant in their website, it seems the connection is only for publicity but not for even the minimal level of courtesy. We were with our child who walked onto the “private” beach next door and some unfriendly staff came to tell us in no kind terms we were not allowed to walk in the private beach. There were dozens of other people who were standing there taking pictures while I was walking on my way back to the table after picking the child up, the level of rudeness was beyond what was necessary. To top it off, the presumption that I would pay 23% for the benefit of being rushed is not appropriate. We spent over $400 for an average meal and to be rushed, told off and surrounded by really loud obnoxious people. I don’t recommend

Cocktail service was a bit slow to begin our experience. We had cocktails on the beach to begin with. Otherwise, dinner spectacular, wine list lovely. It is a must-visit for us when we are there.

It is a prefix menu which is not my favorite, I like to try a couple appetizers usually especially when going out with friends, but I guess you could still split certain items with friends. Another thing I want to call out upfront is that it has an automatic 23% gratuity, this raises the bar for me on what I would expect for service since it above the 20% that is the standard. The service isn't bad but nothing really special but I guess you are paying for the vibe and the view. I got the lobster spring roll as my starter, it was really good but a little soggy. For my main I got one of the specials that they had that day the swordfish, it was very good! Both the main and starter specials sounded really good and the main menu has a lot of yummy sounding choices so it was hard to pick! The key is to go here for sunset sine its right on the water its a great view!
Disappointing
I used to love this place. I’ve visited Nantucket many times and galley beach has always been on the itinerary. However, I realized last night while dining there that they’ve made some truly awful changes since I last visited. While the setting and ambiance remain amongst my favorite on the island, they now have a mandatory $89 per person menu that consists of 1 app and 1 entree. Note that most of the items on the menu have an inexplicable supplemental charge so chances are high that you’ll pay more than the $89. I’d get it if we were talking about supplemental charges for caviar and wagyu but sadly that’s far from the case here. While the clam chowder was excellent, the pasta (special of the day) was inedible and had to be sent back to the kitchen. To add insult to injury, 23% (!!!) tip is automatically included. They note that 3% goes directly to the kitchen but 1) it’s the restaurants job to pay the kitchen, not the customers’ and 2) some of the food was truly horrible. So didn’t feel great about that. Sad to see a favorite of mine plummet so terribly.
Beautiful view for sunset
This place is by no means inexpensive so if you’re on any kind of budget do not go here. But if you are willing to pay the food is very good. The service was fast and attentive. And it’s one of the best sunset views on the island. Also a good place to catch of glimpse of a celebrity that may be vacationing on the island
Bad value
Having now had several lobster rolls during our 3 week trip to nantucket cape cod and rhode island I now realise just what poor value it was at galley beach with a roll full of crisps and a tablespoon of lobster spread out on top for $50
Certainly not fine dining
Great location but Overpriced for VERY mediocre food. Lobster roll hardly any lobster and accompanying potato salad tasted stale.
If you're going to charge like this, earn it.
Have been coming to Galley for 20 years. No more; pricing is nuts, and fixed 23% service charge. Disinterested wait staff, good food. Bartender measured the $30 champagne single pour to be sure it was 5.0 oz., not 5.1 oz! Management is all about the dollar here and I guess demand is such that they don't care about repeat business anymore.

* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* BraveCloth47, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* BraveCloth47 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to BraveCloth47 for any questions Peter may have as BraveCloth47 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* BraveCloth47 now uses their connections at Galley Beach Nantucket to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If BraveCloth47 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, BraveCloth47 receives the $200 reward which is credited to BraveCloth47's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Galley Beach Nantucket!
