Very very good Italian food.

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Adam R. on 07/15/2024

I would say it is about the same quality as fox and knife. So until you can pull off reservations give them a try . Giulia does have larger portions with main dishes . Service was friendly and attentive. I will 100 percent come back. Unicorn oysters-4/5 shucked well and very fresh. Good acidity added and ramps add a nice bite chicken liver crostini- very smooth and savory with a bit of salt toast was nice and crispy 5/5 hamachi crudo- refreshing frit flavor with some acidity. Hamachi was very tender and fresh, but the side did drown its flavor out. Still very good for a hot summer day 4/5 pappardelle- Signature dish. So savory and full of flavor. Pasta was so tender and al dente. Large pieces of wild boar. Such a good dish 5/5 Pistachio gelato. Strong natural pistachio taste. Gelato had great consistency. Very simple but very good 5/5

Superb restaurant

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Rosalie O on 07/07/2024

This restaurant is so good we went there for two of our four nights in Cambridge. The wild boar pappardelle is to die for! Wonderful service--they remembered us on our second visit forty-eight hours after the first. And compared with other restaurants of that quality, I would say the prices are quite reasonable. Thank you so much for two memorable meals!

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Aaron S. on 05/19/2024

Had such high hopes based on other reviews but I can't recommend this place. Unfortunately bad service from the time we sat down set the tone and it just went down hill from there. Food was average - maybe better than average but the poor service makes it hard to decide. If you are familiar with Winnie the Pooh having a server than makes Eeyore seem upbeat and charming will give you a sense of what we were dealing with. Icing on the cake is not once did our server stop by to see how our meal was or to check in on us. No drink refills ever offered and we were handed the check without even a thank you. We were asked when we made the reservation months ago if we were celebrating a special event and we were but no one seemed to ask or care when we got there. Spoke to the manager on our way out and she literally couldn't care less. She didn't even bother to ask what the problem was or who our server was.

2/5 - never really a fan of liver, but this wasn't too bad warm semolina cakes 4/5 bucatini al'amatriciana 4/5 - feels like very fancy and tasty deconstructed lasagna mushroom pasta 4.1/5 - very subtle taste, no meat pappardelle 4.2/5 tajarin (white truffle pasta $85 for 4 ravioli) - 4/5 2022 fallwind pino grigio 4/5 Being honest, this place isn't as good as it is hyped up to be from the high ratings. Don't get me wrong, it is very good, but the amount of food you get for the price you pay is too high. The interior has a warm, dim lighting that gives nice ambience for dinner dates. Service is very good, no complaints about it. For parking, its street parking only. It can be a bit tricky to find a spot in that area, but there should be some available within 5-10min walking distance.

4/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Megan Y. on 03/27/2024

It was still packed at 8:30 on a Wednesday night! We ordered the focaccia, burrata, nostrale, bucatini allamatriciana, pappardelle, squash agnolotti and pasta e ceci. We really enjoyed the pappardelle and agnolotti, and the pasta e ceci was very unique! Unfortunately the bucatini was far from the rest as far as pasta quality and flavor, as it just tasted like overcooked pasta with bland tomato paste. For dessert we got the panna cotta and cookies--loved the panna cotta but recommend passing on the cookies, not worth it!

Giulia is always a hit! Although it may be challenging to get a reservation, it is well worth it. First off, highly reccomend the warm semolina cakes - simply *chefs kiss*. I appreciate that they always have around 3 vegetarian pastas on the menu, which are always such a unique blend of flavors that you can't get elsewhere. My only qualm is that the entrees are on the smaller side, so sometimes I don't leave completely full. But, you can make up for it with some of their other apps. Overall, would reccomend!

I proposed to my now-wife while we sat at the bar here in 2015. It was special to us then and it's special to us now. We returned last night, for the first time in a few years. The semolina cakes and the casarecce alone would have made the trip worthwhile, but the cocktails and the dessert (a chocolate bread pudding) sealed the deal. The place is great for vegetarians like us. It's cozy and homey-feeling: all of us sitting around the bar were chatting about Terry, the former Giulia bartender whom we all remember fondly and who today, it turns out, reads audiobooks for a living. Terry's successor, Cassandra, is charming and friendly and knowledgeable. There's nothing I'd change about Giulia. I hope it sticks around for many years.

4/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @npg on 02/21/2024

Food was great! My only issues were cocktails came out after food arrived, which is my pet peeve. I would rather have had wine with dinner but when cocktails arrive late I'm still drinking my cocktail through dinner. Also, sharable food would arrive at the table and we wouldn't have plates or silverware to eat it with. Hate staring at my food with they are scrambling to get organized. So, needless to say if the service matched the food this would have been a great experience.

Lives up to most of the hype - very hard to get a ressie

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Meg C. on 02/20/2024

Lives up to most of the hype - very hard to get a ressie but the pasta and dessert was worth it, and this is coming from someone who isn't crazy about pasta or dessert. Came here to treat a friend for their birthday and they loved it. We got the pink oysters and semolina cakes to start. The oysters were sweet, and the mignotte added a nice zip to contrast. I liked the light airyness of the semolina cake, but I don't think I would order it again. It's different than your traditional starters, but this is not something I would crave esp for the price point from the truffles. Versus the boar papparadelle is definitely something I would crave and get again. The pasta itself was perfectly al dente with lovely texture and thickness, and each bite was delightful with the boar, trumpet mushrooms, juniper and parm. For me the portion size was just right, and left room for the raspberry semi freddo which was really good. Deep raspberry flavor paired magically with the lemon meringue and amaranth. I was surprised how much I loved dessert. Service was generally good, but confused me initially. Our server came over and seemed reserved and had a bit of "I don't want to be here" vibe when we asked about recos. Once he got going he seemed more engaged, but I found it odd we had to draw it out of him at a place like this. Then a much friendlier, more approachable woman took over and service was lovely the rest of the eve. Ambiance was nice - simple, a bit rustic, and warm. Loved the speckled neutral plates. Good acoustics and room design, so it was easy to have a conversation. Would return to try more pasta and desserts!

Reservations are released two weeks in advance at midnight

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Kimberly N. on 02/19/2024

Reservations are released two weeks in advance at midnight and go almost immediately, so set an alarm. I witnessed a few walk-ins that were seated at the bar, but most got turned away, so I recommend planning ahead. Giulia is on the same street as a lot of other poppin' restaurants, so you should also account for parking when you come (I was lucky to have found a spot nearby, and it was free thanks to the holiday!). Logistics aside, I am happy that I finally got to try this place. The inside was larger than I expected. The vibes were casual but classy, with dim lighting, a bar, and comfortably spaced tables. The plates are on the smaller side, so expect to order more than you usually would. 1.5 pastas were enough to satisfy me, though I could have finished both of the plates that I ordered had I not ordered sfizi. - Chicken liver crostini with green tomato marmellata ($8): The crostini was fresh and crispy, and the chicken liver was thick and savory. The marmellata added a complimentary citrus flavor. Overall, it was a good appetizer to prep the palate, but it was not mind-blowing enough to get again. - Warm semolina cakes ($16): Served warm indeed. The cakes were soft and sat in a bed of thick taleggio that did not taste as strong as the texture implied (more of a mild cheesy flavor). The apples added a nice crunch but weren't sweet. The truffles didn't add much, even though I believe they are the reason this sfizi is overpriced. - Bucatini all'amatriciana with house-cured pancetta ($27): Some of the pancetta was overcooked and too hard as a result, but the pieces that were good were GOOD: crispy, fatty, and salty (a bit too salty for my liking, but I understand that that is one of pancetta's hallmarks as it is meant to replace salt in certain recipes). The bucatini was not al dente but still tasted good and homemade. The sauce was lightly sweetened but a bit boring. - Pappardelle with braised wild boar ($30): Pepper was the dominant flavor, so if you are not a pepper fan, you will not like this dish. The pappardelle was al dente and flavorful. Like the pancetta, some of the boar was overcooked and dry, but most of the pieces were tender. There was a good ratio of pasta to protein. Overall, I enjoyed this more than the bucatini. - Affogato with cinnamon gelato, dark chocolate nemelaka, and crumiri cookie ($14): I'm glad I was able to get the espresso decaf. This dessert was okay; not something I would get again. The star was definitely the nemelaka: silky, intense, and melted-in-your-mouth. - Sicilian pistachio gelato with chocolate pistachio cookies ($12): I added this dessert last minute, and it became my favorite dish of the night, so I highly recommend it! The gelato was refreshing and not overly sweet, and the pistachio crumbs added the perfect crunch. The cookies were crunchy on the outside but chewy on the inside, with a brownie-like texture and taste. The chocolate dominated the pistachio flavor in the cookie, but that was compensated by the pistachio gelato. I liked that my server called out which dishes were staples on the menu so that you could see what the hype was about or prioritize the dishes that are more likely to rotate if you plan on coming back since the staples are more likely to still be around the next time. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner and did not feel like the effort to make the reservation was in vain.

Consistently good refined food

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Greg LM on 01/18/2024

Iโ€™ve visited Giulia two other times before this, the last being a few years back. Itโ€™s as good or better than I remembered. Reservations required, otherwise you can show up at opening and try to grab a bar seat, which there was a line for and even after the years still fills up immediately, even on a weeknight. The food is amazing - from bread to antipasti, entrees etc are all fantastic, and the prices reflect that but arenโ€™t ridiculous for fine dining in the area. Service is friendly and easy. They did great. Folks dress a little nicer but it definitely isnโ€™t stuffy. People treat it as a special night out so they seem to dress for it, but was there a person sitting at the bar with their bright multicolored sporty winter coat (like a snowboard jacket) while wearing AirPods the whole time? Yep, but no one seemed to care. Great spot recommend for dates, smaller gatherings (thereโ€™s a bigger table in the back but itโ€™s mostly 2 and 4 tops)

Underwhelming

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @portlandlilly on 10/03/2023

This place had so much hype. I expected a lot more. The ambience was nice, and the place overall had a good vibeโ€ฆ But the food was fairly expensive for what you got, the pasta seemed very average to me, and the taste combinations were acidic and a little weird. Itโ€™s not traditional, Italian, and I feel pretty done with all the fusion going on with Changing up traditional dishes. I had scallops and that was a good portion, and the scallops were cooked perfectly but the rice was oddly flavored and was very strange to me, as were the flavors in that dishโ€ฆ Overall it was not what I had hoped.

Pasta Perfect!

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Jim P on 08/08/2023

Our last dinner in Boston- we saved the best to last. Guilia is a quaint, hip restaurant in Cambridge with an emphasis on Umbrian food. We had a selection of small bites, including amazing semolina cakes with a yellow tomato sauce. Then came erbazzone, which is like a spanakopita. And the pasta! Maybe the best pasta we've had in the US. Wild boar pappardelle, and rabbit stuffed tortellini. And of course a great bottle of wine - a hard to find aglianico/piedirosso combo that had amazing character, working perfectly with the food. Grazie Mille!

One of my absolute favorite places in Greater Boston.

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @B.R. S. on 02/25/2023

The descriptions of the dishes on the menu hardly do them justice - the menu rotates seasonally and reflects a variety of ingredients that highlight exceptional flavor combinations. From the smaller starters to the full entrรฉes, getting something from each section of the menu is highly worth it for the variety and flavors. The bread they will bring you is delicious and crusty on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, drizzled in oil with a little extra in the dish for dipping. The semolina cakes are a regular favorite, along with an erbazzone or nostrale, and any time they have burrata, as it is imported and accompanied beautifully. Any pasta dish I've ever have or observed being enjoyed is cooked perfectly al dente and is meant to be savored. Even if you're full, the dessert is worth it - ask what the staff think, as the description will not highlight all of the exceptional thought that has gone into every detail of your closing bites. A lovely wine and cocktail selection, with a featured drink (usually a spin on a negroni), any of which will round out your meal should drink - for those that don't, know that your food selections will not suffer! Their staff are incredibly knowledgeable and are helpful with finding the selection that you'll be most excited for - not to mention that they have often remembered that I'm a vegetarian even though I don't go on an entirely regular basis. I would absolutely eat there every day if I could! From drinks to food and dessert, their recommendations, preparation, and service have never failed to impress. The restaurant itself is large enough to hold a good number of people between tables and the bar, while it's cozy enough to feel special and intimate. I really can't say enough about them - the only thing I've never been able to do is bring home leftovers because I can't bare to leave even a morsel behind! Reservations are highly recommended, as it is unlikely you will be able to get a seat unless you hit the right time. So grateful to Giulia for all their thought, care, and creativity - such a pure delight!

Everything at Giulia is perfection! From the moment you walk in the door you enter an a dim, cozy and friendly atmosphere. You're always greeted by a big smile and friendly staff. Every single interaction I have ever had has been nothing short of awesome and I have been going to Giulia for 7 years now! The food is made with so much care and love, I have not once been disappointed in a meal, the semolina cakes are a must at every visit. All the pasta's are made fresh in house so you have to try one. Their menu tends to change a bit during the Season but a few popular things tend to stay the same with little alterations made to accommodate the season. I highly recommend to go with someone who likes sharing so you can try as much as you can. whatever you do try to refrain from stuffing yourself and not leaving room for dessert. If I know I am getting a little too full I take the rest home and save myself room for dessert. I was there a few weeks ago and the chocolate carrot cake was DELICIOUS! They also now offer a pint of ice cream to take home, and the chocolate peanut butter was the best! It might sound like I am a bit obsessed with this place and the answer is yes I am! My favorite restaurant to go on a date, take friends to, celebrate birthdays and recently I also convinced my job to have a holiday dinner this past December and from now on they asked me to plan all company dinners. whether you want to impress your pallet, go on a date or impress family and friends look no further than Giulia!

The creativity, finesse, and deliciousness of their food could easily have a place in the most upscale, white tablecloth restaurants, but, lucky for us, they offer it in a warm, friendly, neighborhood place. If there is better Italian food to be found in all of New England, I have not found it. It's somewhere I, and many other Cambridge locals, return again and again.

1/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Evelyn S. on 01/20/2023

My partner wanted to take us somewhere a bit outside of our comfort zone and I said I would absolutely give it a try. The waitress we had was not only condescending, but completely unsympathetic to the fact that we weren't the usual "rich Cambridge customer". She belittled us by asking if we needed a run down of the menu because it was "mostly Italian". The menu is 99% in English I don't need to have an explanation of what pappardelle is (she even made sure to say it in an "authentic" Italian accent to make sure we knew we weren't pronouncing it "correct"). She also made sure to mention several times that the plating was "European style". Anyone who looked around at the plating at other tables or looked up a menu ahead of time would know that was the style hence why we came, we know what tapas are....I would save your money for the north end if you want good Italian - stay far away.

Each posting on AppointmentTrader shows you which user submitted it and along with that provides a trackrecord of that user which indicates how much experience the user has and how many percent of their transactions resulted in them issuing a refund.

If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Giulia Cambridge at 6 PM the same day.

He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Giulia Cambridge page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.

That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.

Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.

Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FamousStation67, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FamousStation67 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FamousStation67 for any questions Peter may have as FamousStation67 user fills the bid.

3.) Finding the Reservation
* FamousStation67 now uses their connections at Giulia Cambridge to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FamousStation67 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.

4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FamousStation67 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FamousStation67's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Giulia Cambridge!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
